All Hyun wants is to write poetry and occasionally play videogames. His wife, Gangsun, has other plans, she wants a kid and Hyun has no saying in it. She wants a kid so she can brag about it and nothing is staying in her way, not even her husband repeatedly saying he doesn’t want a kid. His word doesn’t hold much regardless of the subject and things are always done her way.
Seyun is a troubled teenager working at the newly opened cafe close to Hyun’s home. After seeing Seyun with a girl in the cafe’s bathroom, Hyun begins to question his sexuality and tries to get closer to Seyun by going on walks together and by helping him and his parents.
Most of the movie revolves around Hyun and his feeling. On one hand I feel bad for him, on the other I blame him for what’s happening. He does things he doesn’t want to because he’s the type of person who doesn’t know how to say ‘no’ and in the end that costs him his happiness.
Hyun finds himself in a difficult situation and when he finally decides to grab the reins of his own life, he faces rejection. That leaves him with nowhere to go but back to where he initially was.
It was sad as well to see Hyun trapped when all he needed was a little push that came too late. Basically this movie is a right person wrong time/wrong place type of situation.
