Summary:

There’s only one thing standing in true love’s way: the park’s massive hamster mascot, Nibbles, who seems to have it in for both Dylan and his romantic chances. Dylan’s best friend, Kayla, claims that appearances can be deceptive: so is Jayden-Lee just as lovely beneath the surface, and what could be lurking under Nibbles’ furry face?

With its cute cover & quirky title, Boy Meets Hamster caught my interest. I also found it really enjoyable, reading the summer romance of another disaster gay, Dylan Kershaw. Though what I loved more from this novel was the relationship between him and his family & female best friend. Especially the brotherly love and care Dylan had for his little brother, Jude, who was disabled and had cerebral palsy.
Boy Meets Hamster was an easy read, told in First Person’s Point of View. Dylan’s disgruntled opinion about his mother’s choice of caravan holiday gave me smiles from the first two chapters. Also, his hilarious PoV successfully hooked me for the rest. That, and Jude’s precocious crush on Nibbles the Caravan Mascot character. It was just silly yet adorable. 🙂
So if you like Becky Albertalli’s Simon Says and Simon James Green’s Alex in Wonderland, I recommend you to read Boy Meets Hamster next~
