"Hi, Yukie... Are you not feeling good?"

Adrian murmured with concern in his voice as he noted the color changing abilities he had never noticed before. He hovered close to the creature, yet was careful not to invade his personal space until he could figure out what was going on with the mermen.

Yukie huffed tiredly and curled up more his body not wanting to be poked and prodded since the sudden fever he had was making his mind all loopy and his body feel like it had been smashed against the rocks over and over. "Sleepy..." Yukie grumbled his gills working slowly as he tried to keep still. With a soft movement of his fin Yukie recovered his body the thin fins trying to keep him warm in the cold water.

"Do you feel weird?" Adrian asked softly, Yukie wasn't acting like his usual energetic self and it worried the man a lot. He needed to exam him and see what was going on. But just before he could get any closer Ayme was already storming out and hissing at the man, thinking Yukie's state was to blamed on something the vet had done.

"Go away! All you humans ever do is poison everything you touch!"

"Ayme...I don't feel good" Yukie mumble gently reaching out to Ayme his skin unusually warm as his fever was making him burn up. Yukie knew Adrian wouldn't understand what he had told Ayme since he had spoken in his own language. With another shiver Yukie moved to cling to Ayme his body feeling icy cold to him despite how horribly he was burning up.

Ayme wrapped his arms tightly around his mate, carrying him quickly back to the nest to try and nurse him back to health again with his own natural knowledge of healing. That Adrian would just inject drugs and do other nasty things vets did to animals. He wouldn't allow it! He set the other down gently in the soft smooth pile of arranged rocks and curled up next to him, trying to help regulate his temperature first before going off to search for sea plant herbs.

Yukie just shivered and curled up in the nest wondering where his mate had gone as he watched Cheri play with the rocks beside him. Unknowing to Ayme Yukie's sickness was more of a heredity sickness his bodies immune becoming weak and frail due to the amount of stress he had been under. With another small shudder Yukie tried to sleep more his body screaming in pain as he laid down against the cold rocks.

Adrian waited for Ayme to be distracted gathering up what to him seemed just like regular old seaweed as he moved quickly to get Yukie. Taking him out of the tank and quickly transporting him to the medical ward for examination. He kept the tank at an even temperature supplied with medicated water for the creature's body to absorb. It was a mild pain killer and sleeping agent.

Yukie laid in the medical water his body a little more relaxed as he watched Adrian. With a small growl sound Yukie glared at the man not wanting to be left in the tank overnight like the last time. Flipping his tail fin Yukie moved it back over his body desiring the warmth despite his body overheating. With another small hiss Yukie's head suddenly laid down against the soft rocks his body suddenly feeling quite sleepy.

Adrian waited for the medication to kick in before approaching Yukie and gently smoothing his hand over the creature's cheek which felt boiling to the touch. Poor thing... "You're going to be okay... Just a few days in here and then you'll be good to go back to Ayme and Cheri." He'd have to check them next because he didn't realize what the mermen had wasn't contagious yet.

Yukie made a small wine sound as his cheek was petted the merman leaning into the comforting touch slightly as he slept. Feeling the medicine slowly start to work Yukie relaxed ever so slightly as he slept peacefully

Adrian did the exam while the creature dozed, the results would take several hours, possibly days so he was content to stay here caring for Yukie until he was well again. Petting him softly as he waited.

Yukie dozed on and off waking up a little as he looked at Adrian and snuggled into his small nest wondering where Ayme and Cheri where. "Hows he doing?" Lucas asked gently Yu peaking into the room curiously having followed Lucas to the medical wing.

"Better... But I'm still trying to figure out what is causing this... Don't come too close, he's resting." Adrian didn't want Yukie to get stressed out again.

"Might be genetic...some of the rarer species do have issues with health. Most of it being due to poor living conditions out in the wild" Lucas explained as he picked up Yu who was quite unhappy he couldn't play with Yukie

[LoneDigger]

"Yukie can't play with you right now because he isn't feeling well, but you can visit him when he's better, okay?"

Adrian promised the boy with a gentle smile. Right now the creature needed peace and quiet to rest up.

"Thats not fair..." Yu mumbled quite upset as Lucas carried the poor lad off to bed.

[LoneDigger]

"It's not fair for Yukie either. Night, kid." Adrian chuckled with another smile before he went back to taking care of Yukie, monitoring him closely throughout the entire night. Come morning he was exhausted, but determined to see him through.

Yukie by morning was more awake his fever finally having broken as the male looked around slightly confused but still quite tiered.

"Good morning." Adrian hummed as he gently dipped his head inside the tank to lightly touch the creature to let him know he was there. He then prepared Yukie breakfast, a variety of raw fish. Maybe his appetite would be back after fighting the fever all night.

Yukie shivered at the touch moving away from the stinging of human contact his skin quite sensitive and hurting. Growling lightly Yukie tried to sink lower into the tank wanting to hide away from being touched again his body still feeling sore and sick.

Adrian frowned slightly, now Yukie was starting to hiss at him too? Maybe he was doing something wrong to be pissing off all these mermen so much... He didn't mean to at all though. He only wanted to help, but he was still getting something wrong.

Carefully he set down the breakfast on the ledge just above the water if the creature was hungry he could help himself.

Yukie mumbled something that sounded like a curse his body breathing a little heavy. With a small huff he made his way to the food clearly exhausted by the simple task and out of breath. Looking at Adrian Yukie shivered and laid his head back down in the shallow end needing a moment to rest since his body was having problems breathing and weirdly filtering the water much like a child having very bad asthma.

Adrian moved quickly to check the oxygen levels in the tank to make sure all the different compounds were in correct balance for Yukie to breath. The temperature was controlled as well, so maybe there was something wrong with his gills?

The marine veterinarian wasted no time, he knew Yukie didn't want to be disturbed but he had to do this. It would no doubt be a little uncomfortable so he had to hold the creature down while he checked his gills.

Yukie hissed angrily not liking Adrian trying to hold him down the touching causing somea needle like pain on his body due to the lack oxygen. With another annoyed hiss Yukie whined his voice laced with pain and unhappiness as he laid rather still not wanting to get more hurt.

"I'm sorry." Adrian murmured as he took a small scrape from the creature's gills and then quickly let him go. Time to run more tests, and again he'd have to wait awhile and just sat next to Yukie's tank, dozing off here and there from lack of sleep.
