Summary: Tatsuyuki is the reluctant young master of a Yakuza group. He would rather spend his days playing around than learning the ropes of his family’s dubious business. When his caretaker sends him off to a branch office in Fukuoka, the recently heartbroken Tatsuyuki finds himself in a weirder situation than he would have ever expected.
Post’s Author Opinion:
Note: This is a personal opinion, it does not reflect YaoiOtaku’s official position towards the manga.
Scarlet Beriko lands another big hit with the emotionally charged yakuza manga “Yondaime Ooyamato Tatsuyuki”. This is a story about three men, who were once again brought together by fate, after many years.
Tatsuyuki Ooyamato, fourth head of the Ooyamato group, wakes up hung over in the room of a stranger. While trying to recollect his scattered memories, Tatsuyuki gradually recalls the events of the night before, that led to the awkward situation he now finds himself in. Koga Nozomi, the man who picked up Tatsuyuki, is a hyped up nursery teacher who claims to know the fourth from his childhood. Puzzled of all the information Tatsuyuki just received and having his phone taken away from his ‘kidnapper’, he is forced to pay Nozomi a visit at work. There, he also meets Rogi, a sadistic loan shark who also claims to know Tatsuyuki and his father from when he was little. From this day onward, all sorts of unexpected happenings take place that confront the three men with each, their own dark past. Also, the innocent love between Tatsuyuki and Nozomi from when they were kids takes on a new form.
This manga starts off as a funny and lighthearted story but as the plot goes on it starts to be more tragic and the mood more cloudy. Nevertheless, in my opinion, this change of pace kept the manga interesting.
One thing i love about Scarlet Beriko’s manga are the characters. In here, as in her other works, she kept the pairing atypical, compered to most yaoi manga. We have a very cute ikemen as seme with uke-like features and a very manly, dominant uke, which is both depicted in her drawings as well as in the characters personalities. And to mention Rogi here as well… To me, his Character felt even more gloomier and pitiful after rereading this, while still remembering him out of the spin-off “jealousy”. So saying this, i warmly recommend you to read the sequel i just mentioned, you’ll miss out on a lot of interesting and important background info if you don’t 😉
If you read my other reviews before, about some of her other stories, you might have noticed that i’m a great fan of her artwork, especially when it comes to the sexy parts (#^.^#) Nothing has changed about that with this manga ^_^
So, who would i recommend this manga to? To readers who are looking for a comedy manga targeted for mature audience, with a dramatic story line and some very nice smut scenes. Oh, I nearly forgot! If you have a penchant for toys and bondage play, then there’s a sweet treat awaiting for you 😉
