Astiara Posted May 17, 2018 Share Posted May 17, 2018 Hi there! should i start? 1-my theme addition was just an example for showing how it could be, it was completely changeable(so yeah you can trash easter right away. i wouldn't have know what book to suggest anyway xp). you go with the basic theme-author-free and add audiobook and special where you want(so tecnically, by that logic halloween is a special, and you could have another normal theme-choice in november while author skip to january). i will let you decide this one and i will go with whatever you guys choose. 2- Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. you meant thing we CAN discuss before week 3 right? because those suggestion are for the the first weeks. and well i don't think i have anything else to say here. it's all good 3.1 well obviously b) i think it would be nearly impossible finding book none of us has ever read. 3.2 well i asked but i'm conflicted...how about we don't make multiple proposition of books but just 1 new(= that we haven't read) and 1 favourite(= that we have read. also not compulsory)? so we still have a fairly number of suggestion, and it is not like you are sure you end with an already read book, after all it will be put up to vote. but at least there is a chance. ah! right 1.3 theme and author! so for author i name Tara Lain! i really love her Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I realized a book club isn't something for someone like me. To participate in a book club means to be a part of it but I am barely here. I didn't have the time to read every post here. And when I log in, which I barely do, the only thing I can manage is to answer to the users who tagged me. I don't even get the chance to answer pm's hence my retreat from this thread. dxdzero8 Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 For Special theme 1.2 (a) because if we have more months with theme we can even add Halloween as a theme in the theme month sometimes..we know there are lots of books with Christmas theme but others like Halloween, Easter there aren't that many..but if once in a while a great book does pop up in those themes we can just add it in a theme month..but don't need to make Halloween a special permanent theme..but Christmas of course yes..So Christmas should be the only special theme i think.. One genre.. i am going to suggest Mystery and Suspense thriller..i think they are great for discussion One author..well that's a hard one..lets see an author whose books i haven't read but on my read list... I am suggesting Aleksandr Voinov.. For 2- Discussion - i agree that before third week we should discuss like general information and after third week what we expect to happen..predictions and all that.. For selection process I choose 3.1 (B)..it will take too much time and lots of discussion to find books that none of has read other than new releases and i don't mind re-reading..it lets me see the plot and characters in a different way..and discussing something we read before is a wonderful delight..so yes For 3.2- of course..what's a book club for if we don't discuss our best reads with everybody..As we can see how Mochi raves about every book she liked and others too including myself sometimes..So, rather than talking on book threads randomly like we all do its best to discuss here..Sharing exactly what we liked about the book we liked and maybe also things like how the plot could have gone differently, i thought this character would be like that..these kind of things, also our frustration about books we didn't like.. and i would also suggest random discussions related to books and authors and not something like "we are talking about this book so can't talk about that book.." and book suggestions to each other i mean no matter how many books we have in our "to read" list we still look for books that will interest us because we are book hungry and we can see how voide and mochi suggest books all the time to everyone so a suggestion discussion will be great i think..and all these in an informal friendly way..and Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. thanks for mentioning it to Racheal..i was actually thinking about sending a PM to her about an open ground book discussion that is not only limited to what we are reading together.. As I said before I pretty much agree with any theme or author. I know this whole series by Susi Hawke with holidays as a main theme, but that's all. I remember books about Christmas… Valentine, yes, but not so many. So I prefer a) Christmas and 2 free themes. My favorite author and theme… That’s hard… I am still so new to BL-novels… Ok, let it be Cardeno C. (my favorite for now). As for theme… You know, I want to read a comedy. Like laughed-so-hard-I-cried kind of . That’d be awesome. 2. I think any kind of discussion is fine (without spoilers of course). I guess I won’t be a part of first-3-weeks discussion, ‘cause I read fast and usually don’t like to pause half way, so I will wait for the moment when we will discuss the whole book. Or maybe not if there will be something interesting or outrageous XD. My point is, it’s difficult to predict what we will want to discuss so let’s see how it goes. With one book we may want to discuss the plot (and it will be more appropriate for the end of the month), with another – the main character’s hairstyle (and we will start it from the first day), who knows? 3. In-depth discussions will start from week 3. Here are contents we can discuss before week 3 (thank you voide for the list a. POVs (if there's nothing stated earlier) hell, sometimes i drop a book bc i can't understand the pov. true story b. writing style c. book cover (if it's 'interesting' enough lol) d. behaviour or decision certain characters made e. prediction of whodunit (if it's a mystery) f. ship. disclaimer: i'm wholeheartedly a monogamous believer. so please bear w me if i disapprove of your polysomes & bitchin about it lol g. generally fanboying/fangirling lmao 5. Selection Rules after go through all of your opinions, I come up with the selection rule. Please tell me what you think and if everybody agree we will start to vote for themes and then our first book ever Each month each of you can suggest 1 to 2 books : Maximum 2 books/ per person/ month. You can pick from 2 categories 1. book you want to read 2. book have read and want it to be read in the club **Your two books can be both form 1 or both from 2 or each book from each category. I will list all of them and will ask all of you to make your own list for example : if we have 12 suggestions. I will ask you to give all 12 books number 1-12. Start with 1 as the book you want to read the most and go on until the last book with number 12. The first book will get 12 points and last book will get 1 points, and then we will pick the book with highest points for the month. I also want to use the same method with Themes and Authors too If everyone ok with every topic above we will vote theme and Authors tomorrow we will pick the first 2 authors and 2 theme that receive most point from you guys . So my first suggestion comes: As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann I've been intending to read this for a long time, because from what I read from the reviews this is really good but also there is also too much sadness to handle.
