rarcoryn Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Finn was greeted by thick black oil against his already pitted face. He winced and quickly wheeled himself out from beneath the Aston Martin he was servicing. Oh boy, was Harrison going to be mad. He’d been teaching him how to fix a simple oil leak for the last week and he’d promised he’d got it. He’d watched Harrison countless times repair pipes but apparently it wasn’t enough and here he was making a situation a whole lot worse. I'm working on extending and cleaning up a ficlet my other half wrote about my original characters. ^_^;

Panda01 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 If your cat looks like a straight tube from above or has his waist expand out past the ribs, he is overweight.” Using a feline body condition score system can help you assess your cat’s weight without having to actually weigh him.

Sai-Miyoshi Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 the first draft of an article im writing 0____0 The effects of an aging population on a countries economy Our population is getting older. Due to an increased life expectancy, low fertility rates and the post war baby boom, the median age of most MEDC’s is increasing. This is due to an increase of people over 65, which does not only have social but also economic consequences. On the one hand, the retired part of our society increases the dependency ratio, meaning the number of pensioners depending on working people. For people aged 15-65, meaning those of working age, this means higher tax rates and a greater work load. For the pensioners themselves, a higher dependency ration means they receive less pensions; get paid less. In addition, more housing is required, since people die at a higher age and thus occupy a home longer. But housing is not the only thing that needs to be provided for an aging population. Elderly people need more medical care, meaning more staff and higher healthcare costs, and services to keep both their mental health as well as their physical health as good as possible. This includes entertainment and social interaction, as well as the availability of facilities such as swimming pools. To get old people to such facilities special transportation must be provided, an example being a privet bus, which picks clients up at home. On the other hand, the Wanless report on financing the NHS, published in 2001, shows that even though healthcare costs rise with age, a quarter of a person’s medical expenses are in their last year, and the amount spent decreases the older a person gets. In 1999 a Scottish study showed, that a person who died at 50 spent an average of 7000 pounds on health care, in comparison to 3000 pounds for someone dying at 90. In addition, the over 65 also have positive influences on the economy. In Britain, the grey pound, meaning expenditure by elderly people, is estimated to contribute 215 billion pounds to the economy. Furthermore, a lot of elderly people keep themselves busy with voluntary work, be it babysitting their grandchildren, teaching or for example doing simple administrative jobs. To conclude, an aging population has many disadvantages but also has a positive side for the economy of a country.
