But most of the time I'll choose a more grown-up kind of setting, like subordinates or boss/employee, because I think they get to decide based on experience or deep thinking rather than childish whims. I like them to be over 20 at least and the age difference should be, About, 10 years max. The story should be well-paced, not too fast like they just met in the first page and on the last age of the same chapter they would be willing to die for each other! Nor too slow that it might take them 5 chapters just to realize their own feelings. Dark pasts give depth to the story and love at first sight is a bit of cliche for my taste xP One thing I love the most is when a character stick to their ground when fighting with their loved one, and perhaps that's why I read Yaoi mostly, because when two guys fight they actually fight and each one of them stands up for themselves rather than having their will crumble at a single kiss or sweet words (so much unlike usual Shoujo) Plus one thing I hate the most is when one falls in love with a straight dude then the straight dude just kind of goes with the flow and accepts the other's feeling, I just think it's not real and unfair for the first person. One of my favorites is Henshin Dekinai a spinoff of Okane ga Nai. This features Someya the cross-dressing owner of a bar featuring drag or MTF transgenders (manga doesn't make it clear) and mechanic, Honda, who is a Yankii. I had never heard of Yankiis/Yankees before so I learned about something new as well. When I mean drama not tragic or sad, i guess drama in something like Junjou romantica etc. I guess I read some many work place or real-life type ones like that lately that it's sort of my preference. Yaoi with a good plot are the best and although one shots are not really my cup of tea sometimes they can be pretty cool if im looking for something quick! I was going to say that I like yaoi when... It's realistic. When the plot is slow and sweet, because almost no one falls in love a week after meeting someone O.o And the sex... I don't mind the oneshots, because they are saved for when the sexual tension goes unfulfilled for too long and I just need smut to survive (cries, it's true), but where there's no thought put into the making of even those small plot lines, I stop reading ;-; honestly the more realistic ones are probably my favorite because the characters are more relatable and average; they're faced with the same struggles that the young (or older) gay males face while functioning in society. My favourite type though is when the Seme is shorter than the Uke, I don't know why. And then I like the uke playing hard to get because he doesn't know he's gay or has never considered himself falling in love with a boy- the shock is all the greater when he wakes up and realizes what he's done leaf2 But I'd really love to read a story about two seme guys battling it out to see which of them is worthy of calling himself the "seme" and whichof them ought to be that guy's "uke" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
