Aelfric extended his palm towards Aeldric and muttered something, then Aeldric’s body was shrouded in a thin layer of light, which quickly faded after a few seconds. Aeldric looked down at himself with a surprised expression, he then turned back to Aelfric and asked: “What was that?”

 

“Just a simple healing spell to replenish your energy. This should help you stay up for a bit longer, and now....” Aelfric turned to Arcane with a devious smile: “Ready for both of us, Arcane?”

"W-Wait!! Aren't you tired?!" Arcane wanted to push Aeldric right back down but he didn't and watched as the other slowly got up and crawled over to his brother. The next thing absolutely shocked the small fairy as he stared in amazement that Aeldric just slapped his unconscious brother awake. Aelfric opened his eyes and stared at the brightly colored ceiling of the room. For a brief moment he forgot where he was, and wondered when did they re-painted the room, then a mixture of pain and lingering pleasure came from his rear which almost made him scream out, followed by his entire body aching. Sensing the commotion beside him Aeldric also woke up from his sleep. Got up from the bed he stretched and yawned lazily, and looked down at the other two with a big smile: “Good morning guys! What’s with the long face?”

 

Aelfric looked up at Aeldric and sighed: “Just exactly why do you look so lively? Arcane and I are absolutely wasted.”

 

“I don’t know, I guess the healing spell you used on me worked better than expected? Anyway.” Aeldric began to put on his clothes and said: “I’m gonna ask the staff here to prepare a bath for us. I’m sure you guys don’t want to travel all sticky and slimy right? In the meantime you guys takes some rest.” Aeldric smiled as he waved at the two and left the room.

Arcane could do nothing but give another pathetic moan towards Aelfric's comment. Of course, Aeldric just added fuel to the fire when he got up like it was nothing and just stretched himself out before skipping off out of the room... he probably wasn't actually skipping but it wasn't like the fairy could turn himself enough to really see what was going on. At least Aelfric seemed to have some kind of movement in his body even though that drug he took the night before might still be making his body feel a bit more worn out then usual.

 

When Aeldric did return, somehow Arcane had managed to doze off again only to wake just a moment later when the others were checking to see if he was awake or not. "I can't move," he groaned and struggled against everything he had to try and shift even a little bit. He got a hand twitch but that was as far as it was taking him.

 

"You two are a terrible influence and I'm never doing this again...." Arcane honestly just wanted to go back to sleep for about a week. His hips and back were in so much pain from when he had the two of them in him.... Deciding to go with the flow, Aelfric answered: "Well I don't know.....I guess a horse maybe? I've always wanted one. Not one of those training horses they give us during riding classes, but one of my own. Maybe I'll get one once we arrive at Polcar? You know what, scratch that. Maybe I'll summon a magical creature to be my ride, like an Unicorn or something."

 

"Unicorn? Ha ha!" Aeldric laughed as he approach the two still laying on the large bed and said: "Don't Unicorn prefer pure maidens? I think it's fair to say that you don't fit either of the requirements. If anything you'll probably end up summoning a man eating bicorn instead."

 

"I know that! I was just making an example!" Aelfric said a bit grudgingly. "And what about you? What's your favorite animal?"

 

"Mine? An owl of course. And I'm way ahead of you when it comes to getting one. You know, cause I made one myself." Aeldric showed a rather cocky smile. He then leaned down and held Arcane in his arms and carried the fairy off from the bed. "Now come on, let's go to the bath already."

"Oh, come on Aeldric, Aelfric is plenty beautiful," the fairy quickly teased. It was good that the subject was able to be changed what with these two finding the question to be weird to begin with. Arcane smiled a bit as he listened to the two go on about their favorite animals and how they would obtain such pets. "Aeldric, you know you could get a snowy owl for Polcar. They do exist so if building one ever does fail... for reasons that will probably end up my fault, you can get a real one that knows how to avoid magic!"

 

The fairy jumped a little as he was scooped up but he smiled a little and wanted to make a joke but.... well he wasn't about to make himself seem any more like a princess than he already did... damn it... now his head was filled with these terrible thoughts. "You guys are seriously bad influences..." he complained.

 

The bath was nice and warm and Arcane even moved his wings around to make sure they got a nice clean too. He thought about last night once more but more in the sense of it being just a crazy thing that they did. He didn't get turned on by it but next time they probably shouldn't just take random drugs from a freaking drawer in a place as sketchy as this.

 

The bath wasn't huge but it wasn't all that bad either. At least they were all able to get cleaned up and feeling better. Besides, the warm water really helped with Arcane's back and hips. Sure, walking was still terrible but at least he could move now and wasn't feeling like a sack of potatoes.

Seeing Aeldric carrying Arcane out of the room, Aelfric managed to get up from the bed as well and followed, groaning slightly due to the soreness all over his body. Perhaps he should work out a bit more? Although he doubt any kind of work out would help reducing the ache from his behind.

 

Getting to the bathroom the three enjoyed the warmth of the bath. It was rather difficult to not doze off and fall asleep in the warm embrace of the hot water and adding to it was the fact that the bathtub while being rather large, is still too small for the three of them, making them squeeze against each other tightly. If the twins were a bit more filled with energy they'd probably get turned on by their proximity but at this moment, the feeling of the fairy's skin pressed tightly against there's simply felt soothing, reassuring even. Luckily the twins were able to stay awake, and after gathering enough strength the three of them got out and began to make preparations for departure. Looking out through the window of their carriage, the vast fields of colorful flowers which the village was known for came to their eyes, and it was indeed impressive. Aelfric said with a bitter smile: "We should definitely come visit here again."

Arcane was squished into the tub between the twins and fidgeted for a moment until the three managed to settle in. The warm bath was quite nice, though it felt a bit on the cool side to Arcane. Then again, he was a Salamander fairy so that was to be expected. It was so nice to be able to just enjoy the company of the twins and feel the comfort of the bath. He wasn't getting turned on but that was to be expected as Arcane had no energy left to spare.

 

The bath helped to loosen up the muscles and joints so Arcane was able to stand and move around after. Sure, it hurt but at least he was functioning. He managed to dress himself and pull his cape over his body and just before leaving the room, he pulled up the hood. After checking out, the three got onto the carriage and Arcane could just tell how upset the driver was from them being so late. He really didn't like having to hang around anywhere near that hotel to pick them up and yet, he was there for hours just waiting for them to emerge from the hotel. Seeing his anger, Arcane apologized to him and settled in hoping it wouldn't be too bumpy a ride.

 

"We should definitely come back. It's a two day trip but the flowers really are impressive," Arcane added. They had to go extra slow due to the sheer number of people all over trying to get a good look at the flowers, which in turn, gave the fairy and the princes the chance to admire them as well. Still.... their trip would be coming to an end soon and the final destination wouldn't be quite as pretty that's for sure.

Smiling weakly at Arcane, Aelfric leaned back at his seat, groaning slightly from all the soreness throughout his body, and closed his eyes for rest. Meanwhile Aeldric being the most energetic out of the three kept himself awake for a bit longer, looking out of the window until they've left the fields of flower completely behind, and soon joined his brother in sleep.

 

The caravan continued their way towards Polcar. Due to heavy raining damaging a bridge the group was forced to take a longer route, adding a few more days on the journey. As they get closer and closer to the northern province they could already feel the temperature dropping. Luckily they were prepared for it and everyone put on another layer of clothing. Eventually they arrived at the border of Polcar, however the sun was already setting and they decided to wait till dawn.

 

In the middle of the night the twins were suddenly waken by commotion outside. Sounds of people yelling, and iron clashing could be heard all around them.

 

Aelfric opened the carriage door and yelled at on of the guards nearby:" What's going on?" His hand reaching for the ceremonial dagger on his belt.

 

"Please remain in the carriage your highness, we're under attack!" the guard replied hurriedly.

 

Aelfric looked around, and could see the guards in combat against men who judging by their ragtag clothing and crude weaponry seemed to be bandits. Despite the guards being better equipped and better trained, and it's clear that they were being surrounded, and out numbered.

 

"Like hell I'm gonna sit and wait!" Aeldric said as he jumped off the carriage, already wearing a strange glove in one hand. Pressing a few buttons on the glove and suddenly a metal bird flew out of the luggage towards one of the bandits fighting the guards, knocking him to the ground and flew back to set on Aeldric's shoulder. "Let's see how these folks fare against my Sky Eye."

 

 

"Aeldric!" Aelfric screamed as he saw his younger brother jumping off. He then turned to Arcane and said: "Well, I guess it's too late to tell him wait. Remind me to kick his ass once we're out of this." With that said Aelfric also jumped off the carriage and began to rain magic upon the unsuspecting foes.

Arcane ended up joining the others in a nap. He was pretty worn out himself and sleep was definitely a big help. However, the rough ride wasn' much help in the fact that his back and hips were still quite sore. Sleep did push the feeling aside and made the ride a little smoother for the time being.

 

The fairy was woken to the sound of bandits attacking and he was up on his feet before the twins even woke. Arcane wondered if he should use his class four magic... It would help but it could make the ground around them a bit more dangerous. The ground would be pure ice but if they got away then that shouldn't be too much trouble... Right?

 

Arcane suddenly perked up when he heard Aelfric call out to his twin brother. The fairy looked and saw the green-haired male jump out of the carriage, followed shortly by the mage. Unbelievable.... These two really were a lot of trouble. Arcane threw his cape aside and flew out of the carriage. One of the bandits saw him and got rather distracted. It wasn't fear persay... surprise maybe? Either way, he went straight for the red-head in an attempt to capture him. Little did these guys know but Polcar was known for its fairy slave trade. Arcane, unlike the fairies that were being traded, knew magic, powerful magic and since he could fly, he got above the carriage and started to cast a spell.

 

He layered his words and called out a rather powerful fire type magic that caused four good sided fire birds shoot off in different directions and take down at least three bandits each, bursting them into flames. "Aeldric! Aelfric!! Stay close to the carriage!!!" He shouted before needing to cast another spell. The fairy used the same spell twice before thinking of something else.

 

"Aelfric, get ready with a wind spell!! Everyone else!! Get ready to move!!!" Arcane began to caste a water spell. If they couldn't get them to back off, they would stop them in their tracks, freezing them in place. The fairy was just about to cast the spell when one of the bandits grabbed him from behind and pulled him to the ground before covering his mouth to prevent any more spells.

 

Arcane struggled as the man put all his weight onto the fairy, pushing him into the cold snow on the ground. The fairy tried everything but he couldn't seem to push the bandit back... It was getting harder to breathe...

"Arcane!" Aelfric screamed in horror when he noticed Arcane being pinned down under the bandit. Without hesitation he used his wind magic and send the bandit on top of Arcane flying. Aelfric ran towards Arcane and extended a hand to pull the fairy up and right into his arms. Looking at the fairy worriedly Aelfric asked: "Are you okay? Did he injure you?" He looked at Arcane from head to toe several times and was relieved that he wasn't harmed. He turned his gaze towards the bandit he just knocked away, who is now on the ground. Noticing the man still twitching Aelfric immediately sent a rock smashing into the Bandit's head to finish him off.

 

Meanwhile Aeldric was engaging the bandits in close combat. While his swordsmanship was average at best, he controlled the mechanical bird like an extension of himself, and attacked his opponents when they least expected. That being said he was still having a hard time dealing with the bandits considering them being out numbered.

 

"Hey you two! Start actually blowing shit up!" Aeldric shouted at Aelfric and Arcane: "These bandits are not gonna cook themselves!"

Arcane felt the weight lifted right off him and he gasped for air, coughing slightly. Aelfric quickly scooped the fairy into his arms but he just shook his head a little. "Don't worry about me... I'm fine... Thanks for the save," he smiled. They didn't have much time to really recover before Aeldric's voice called out to the two. "Sorry Aeldric!!" He quickly looked back at Aelfric as he slowly managed to get to his feet. "Cover me for a minute will you? I'm setting this whole place on fire." That may have sounded dark but Arcane didn't seem to be joking. He stood, flicking his wings slightly to make sure they were alright and began to cast his spell.

 

It took several minutes which must have felt like hours to everyone fighting but before Arcane said his last word, he nodded towards Aelfric to call and get everyone out of the way as the fairy let off his level 5 fire phoenix. The huge bird grew and grew covering nearly the whole battle field in light. Arcane fell back nearly passing out as the bird then flew down towards the ground, melting the snow before it even touched. The air was so hot it felt like they were in the desert as the bird flew around setting every bandit on fire as they were found in the way. This bird didn't seem to take much to control but used nearly all of Arcane's magic and energy to produce. It flew off and burned until there was nothing left before finally burning out. Even the ground was burned by the end. Everyone was probably sweating now.

 

The fairy twitched slightly but he could hardly see now. It didn't take long for Arcane to completely black out.

The soldiers cheered as the fire phoenix burnt their way through the ranks of the bandits. Screaming in horror they soon scattered and vanished into the woods.

 

"You've done it!" Aeldric smiled and turned around just as Arcane fainted and fell into Aelfric's arms. Immediately he ran to the two and asked worriedly: "Is Arcane alright?"

 

"Yes, he's just exhausted." Aelfric said as he looked at the sleeping face of Arcane, showing a weak smile. He then looked around and yelled: "Report our status! Is everyone alright?"

 

The captain of the guard approached and saluted: "Yes Your highness! A few men are wounded, but nothing lethal."

 

"Good. Bring them to me and I'll cast healing spell on them" Aelfric said.

 

"Healing spell? But your highness you're also exhausted after the battle, you should..."

 

"I didn't do much, it was Arcane who did all the hard work." Aelfric said. He then passed the unconscious Arcane to Aeldric and said: "Take care of him for me would you?"

 

"No problem brother. But we should hurry, who knows if the bandits would regroup and come back or not." Aeldric said before picking up Arcane bridal style and carried him back to the carriage.

 

 

AfterAelfric has cared for the wounded, the group hurriedly get on track. They were able to clear the forest just as the sun began to rise above the horizon. Several hours later they've finally arrived at the main town of Polcar. All the townsmen got out of their houses and looked at the group with both caution and curiosity. A few moments later they've arrived at the place where they'd spend their foreseeable future in: the governor's palace, or what's left of it. After years of abandonment the place looked more like a haunted house than where a lord would live.

 

"This place looks like a real fixer upper." Aelfric sighed.

 

"Yeah, but that's for another day. Right now, let's just sleep." Aeldric replied.

 

They managed to clear out a room and laid Arcane on the bed, after a moment of hesitation the twin laid themselves on each side of the sleeping fairy, and it wasn't long before they joined the fairy in slumber.

Arcane finally woke rather late into the following day and paused a moment thinking about what happened before he sat up instantly, eyes wide, looking all around. Once the fairy realized they were someplace safe, he managed to relax a little but the place looked almost like a prison. The only reason he knew it wasn't was the fact he wasn't gagged. Of course, the twins were still asleep but Arcane couldn't blame them since they stayed up all night probably trying to protect the fairy and make sure they made it to the castle... that's just how they were and it brought a smile to Arcane's face.

 

The red head slipped off the bed to get a change of clothes of the other two. While walking around he found the castle in worse shape than expected. The castle was well built and still standing strong so some magic to wash things down would be just fine. Still, the place was cold so he'd have to be careful and the rugs would need a deep scrubbing. Before he knew it, Arcane was lost having wandered off... oops. The fairy lifted his wings but he was tired. He'd have to pace himself. Taking off, Arcane flew around for a while. The castle was big but fairly easy to navigate and the fire fairy made it back but landed and had to walk to get the clothes and return to the bedroom. Did they even have a cook to make the breakfast? They muse have... the fairy was lost in work for the castle as he walked into the room and placed the clothes on the end of the bed. The fairy sat next to the clothes and waited for the twins to wake.

 

Arcane was still tired, sore, and starved. He just waited patiently for the other two knowing they were also exhausted. 'Maybe I should lie down for another couple minutes... I'm still sleepy...' Arcane thought to himself before moving into a better position to lie down.

Aelfric woke up earlier than his younger brother, but he didn't come to his senses just yet. Looking blankly at the sleeping face of Arcane he snuggled closer to the fairy, feeling at ease with Arcane's warmth and his gentle breath on his own skin. After a little while his head finally cleared and he reluctantly got up. He looked around the room and saw the pile of new clothes on the bed, and figured it must be Arcane who had got it for them. Laying a light kiss on the sleeping fairy's forehead Aelfric then replaced his old clothes with the new ones.

 

About the same time Aeldric also woke up. He flipped around to look at Aelfric and asked: "What...? How long we've been asleep?"

 

"A few hours at most." Aelfric said as he walk towards the door.

 

"And where're you going?" Aeldric asked.

 

"Just to get to know the place a bit better. I mean we haven't even met whoever was taking charge of this place before we arrived."

 

"I'll come with you." Aeldric was about to get up, but Aelfric shook his head and said: "Nah, you stay here and look after Arcane for me would you?"

 

"Umm... Sure?" Aeldric looked at his brother with slight suspicion. While he indeed appreciate a little more time to rest, especially with Arcane at his side, there seemed to be something not quite right about him, but he couldn't figure out exactly what he was. Aeldric rolled back facing Arcane and wrapped an arm around Arcane, and almost fell asleep instantly.

 

Meanwhile Aelfric got out of the room and began to look around the place, and found all the guards who have accompanied them here resting in the courtyard. The captain noticed Aelfric and all of them saluted: "Your highness!"

 

"At ease soldier." Aelfric said and approached them. He bowed to the captain and said: "I wish to thank you for your service so far. We couldn't have made it here without you."

 

"Please your highness, raise your head. We were only doing our duty" The captain responded hurriedly.

 

"Duty or not, you've saved our lives There's no way we could've made it here without you." Aelfric smiled. He looked at the dozens of soldiers in the courtyard then back at the captain and said: "In any case, since your mission of escorting us here is now over, I suggest you leave for the capital as quickly as possible, you don't want to get trapped here with us do you?"

 

"Well about that...." the captain paused and his eyes began to wander. After a moment he looked back at Aelfric and said: "Me and my men were just talking about it. We've talked to some of the locals while you were resting, and I have to say, the situation is bad.....Worse than I could ever imagine. This province was neglected by the center for so long that the only thing they have resembling a arm force are the towns watch organized by the people themselves, and they could barely keep the few villages in the province safe against the bandits and the orcs. While it's not the position of a soldier like me to question orders, but whoever sent you here surely wish you to perish! And we can't stand by and just watch it happen! From now on we serve you! Your highness!"

 

Suddenly all the guards knelt before Aelfric, and he was completely caught off guard. "Are you certain, captain? As you know this is a hell hole, and we're just two powerless prince set on exile. I mean, are we worth throwing away your career for? What have we done to deserve that?'

 

"Because you're unlike any other noblemen or royalty we've served." The captain looked up at Aelfric and said: "You, your brother, and your fairy friend fought with us side by side, and when the battle is over you tend to the wounded despite your own exhaustion. You are the only people we've met who are worth serving under. Besides, it's not like we have much of a career to look forward to anyway. I mean, the moment when we learned how dangerous this place is we knew we're expendable to the guys in the capital."

 

Aelfric fell silent, and after a while he smiled weakly, extending his hand to pull the captain up from the ground and said: "Alright then captain. To be honest we could use some help to get this place up and running properly again. But feel free to leave anytime if you find me, or my brother not worth your loyalty."

 

"That won't be necessary your highness. You have our loyalty till the end of our lives." the captain replied with a smile.

 

"Oh, and one more thing." Aelfric smiled shyly and looked at the captain: "I don't think I can recall any of your names....I always assumed you guys would leave and we'll never see each other again so....sorry."

 

All the guards burst out laughing, and the captain replied: "Well we better change that quickly. Let's start with me then. Name is Gregory Smithson, your highness. Your wish is my command!"
