Yuu was a bit confused but he watched intensely just trying to learn. When he thought he understood, Yuu pointed to Kai. "Kai" points to himself. "Yuu" he thought for a minute. "Good morning Yuu..." points to himself. "Good morning.... Kai!" He points to Kai. "Good morning kai!!!!" He was shouting now and laughing again happy to learn.

Kai watched with so much vigor, that he was sure he'd scare Yuu if he stared anymore. So he softened his gaze as Yuu tried on his own to figure out what Kai had meant by his words. When Yuu pointed to Kai and said his name, then to himself and said his own name, Kai grinned happily. Then Yuu did it again, this time adding the 'good morning' before their names. Kai's grin grew bigger and he laughed with good humor. He leaned forward and ruffled Yuu's hair. "That's right! You've got it!"

Yuu was so happy to see Kai enjoying the other speaking so he repeated the phrase several more times. The teen laughed and must have said "Good morning, Kai," a dozen or so times before he finally stopped. Yuu was so happy now that it felt like he was starting to be able to communicate with the person who's been taking care of him. "Kai?" He watched the older male respond to his name and smiled even brighter. Seeing Kai respond helped him get use to his own name.

 

Yuu then turned to look at the plate and realized there was nothing left on it. He frowned even though the reason it was empty was because Yuu was the one that threw the carrots in the first place. At least now it seemed like he could communicate so Yuu held up the plate. "Kai?" He said tilting his head hoping the other would understand that he still wanted more food.

Kai didn't think he'd end up having such a good laugh at all during this time. He hadn't laughed so hard since his parents were alive. His emotions were starting to get loose, he was no longer turning into that cold, uncaring person. Unless he needed to be. Kai and Yuu laughed a little while longer before slowly they died down. Yuu stopped calling out happily, but Kai still kept his smile. He was just to glad of Yuu's progress. When Yuu called out his name Kai looked up with a questioning look, wondering what he wanted. But Yuu didn't do anything, just smiling as if he was the only one to attract Kai's attention.

 

Kai watched with a slight chuckle at the frown Yuu cast upon the empty plate. When he held the plate up to Kai, the other could tell exactly what he wanted. Kai grasped the plate and Ruffles Yuu's hair as he stood up. "I'll be right back then." Kai left the room and went to the kitchen. The carrots were one thing, and after realizing what he was able to accomplish in chewing Kai decided to try something different. He made Yuu a sandwich. Just a plain baloney sandwich with a slice of cheese and some ketchup. He cut off the edges of the bread, finding those the most driest part and harder to swallow. When he returned to the room he sat down on the bed once more and set the plate down in front of him. He had also brought up a water bottle, thinking Yuu must have been thirsty. "Here you go, Yuu."

Yuu blinked several times as Kai placed the sandwich in front of him. This was certainly different from everything else he'd eaten so far. What was he suppose to do with it? He couldn't hold it like a carrot so how was he suppose to get it in his mouth. The teen turned and looked back at Kai waiting for something to happen. Hopefully Kai wouldn't get the wrong idea and try to go get him something else because he was curious but there also was nothing else he could do. Yuu gave Kai puppy dog eyes begging for his help.

Kai waited for Yuu to eat, hoping that this food would be one he liked. If so then that meant Yuu would finally be able to put back on the weight he had lost. When Kai noticed Yuu's puppy eyes, hoping that the other would help him in his time of need, Kai let out a small laugh. Kai grabbed the plate from Yuu and placed it on his knee. He then grabbed the sandwich, lifted it towards his mouth and pretended to eat it. He didn't want to take Yuu's food from him and eat it in front of him. He handed the plate back to Yuu and smiled, hoping that he would be able to understand how to eat it. "Go on, I'm sure your hungry."

Yuu watched without getting angry at Kai for taking the food and pretending to eat it. Seeing how he picked it up and how he motioned eating, it was easy enough to copy. The teen picked up the sandwich and took a big bite out of it. He still mostly chewed with his mouth open but at least did chew before he swallowed. After only one bite, Yuu had ketchup all over his face but that didn't stop him from taking another large bite. The teen really liked the strange sandwich but that was one thing Yuu had kept memories or not. He wasn't a picky eater.

Kai watched as Yuu took his turn in copying him. He held the sandwich exactly like Kai had and bit into it. He was glad he picked up on it so quickly. In fact, he was picking up on a lot of things quickly. Perhaps his next object would be to getting him to walk. He was sure his muscles were cramping and itching to move. And Yuu had already attempted to stand by himself before. When Yuu pulled the sandwich away, Kai laughed, a smudge of ketchup had stuck itself right on to Yuu's cheek. But he didn't remove it, in fact he couldn't, because Yuu was already digging into his second bite.

Yuu finally finished his sandwich and ended up getting ketchup on not only his face but it ended up dripping down on his shirt. there was also a small spot on the bed sheets. The teen still hadn't gotten use to his strength so he held the sandwich rather roughly squishing the ketchup out and every bite was big and messy as he practically smooshed his face into the sandwich. He started using his tongue to lick off what he could but that was just making more drip onto his shirt and the bed sheet.

 

Once he was done, Yuu looked back at Kai while he was licking his face. The teen had a childish happy look on his face and he was actually feeling a bit more full then he had any other time before.

Kai had watched patiently as Yuu ate and finished his sandwich. The whole time he watched as ketchup smears landed on his shirt and bed sheets after spreading over his face. By the time he was done, Kai was nearly rolling on the bed in laughter at the mess. He had to admit though, despite how much the younger males brain had regressed to that of a child. His body remained the same, and it only made Kai think of Yuu as adorable. Kai had slowly come to feel that, if Yuu never returned to his old state, then at least he had him as he was now. Unable to talk, yes, but he was able to move on his own. And that gave Kai more hope and more love for the other as the days passed.

 

Kai moved closer after his fit of laughter and lifted Yuu's shirt over his head like he would a child. Taking the red blotched shirt and tossing it aside, Kai then grabbed a shirt from the bags he had brought upstairs at some point and tossed it on Yuu. It was bigger and the long sleeves flew off his hands, but it was shirt non the less, and no one but Kai would see him like this.

"Good morning, Kai" Yuu said as his shirt was changed. In a way, it was him trying to say thank you without knowing the proper words to use. He nuzzled into the new, larger shirt and simply enjoyed its comfort. Yuu then had his face cleaned by Kai and watched as he took care of the mess on the sheets so that wouldn't get on the younger male again. The teen relaxed a bit not wanting to get too rowdy on Kai even though he had more energy after watching the older male and his fit of laughter.

 

Yuu leaned in and kissed Kai's forehead. He remembered Kai doing it a few times before for him so he wanted to do it now for Kai. Yuu didn't know what it did but it was something even if he didn't understand the point of it.

Kai chuckled at Yuu's timing for his newly found words. After changing his shirt, Kai then cleaned Yuu's face and then the sheets. Although there would be a little red mark on them, they wouldnt run off and make more of a mess.

 

Just as he was about to move away Yuu reached up and kissed Kai on the forehead. It wasnt something he was used to, at least, not when it came from the younger male himself. Kai sighed and fell to the side of the bed. He wrapped his arms around Yuu's waist and stayed there, hugging him. He rested his forehead against his stomach.

Yuu wasn't sure why Kai acted the way that he did to the gesture and stared down blankly at him for a minute. Eventually, the teen placed his hands on the older male's head and pat him a bit with a gentle smile on his face. Once Kai finally pulled away, Yuu was still smiling at him with that childish smile of his. The teen yawned a bit and nuzzled back into the bed trying to get a little more comfortable.

 

With the amount of time he spent in a bed, it was no wonder that his energy level started to give up, especially with him being so much thinner, he needed more naps now like any small child would. Yuu gave Kai one more toothy grin before he closed his eyes and started to dose off to sleep. Maybe when he woke up, Kai would help teach him some new words or how to walk.

Kai held onto Yuu a little longer, even after feeling the slender fingers of the younger male run over his head. When Kai did finally let go, Yuu began to settle himself further into the bed. He hated seeing how often the other was sleeping, but he supposed there wasnt much he could do with how limited he was. But perhaps he would be able to do more.

 

When Yuu fell asleep, Kai ran his fingers through his hair just before heading out of the room and down to the kitchen. This time he made himself a sandwich, not having eaten when Yuu did. As soon as he finished making it, Kai returned to the room and sat down to watch Yuu sleep. It was long however, after he had eaten his own food, that he too fell asleep in his chair. He rarely slept now, so he could use any chance he got.

Yuu woke a couple hours later and for Kai asleep. As to not wake him, the teen stayed still where he was watching him and waiting. When Kai finally did wake up, Yuu was there to greet him with a smile. "Good morning, Kai," he said gently. Yuu wanted to do something more then sit around but Kai wasn't too happy when he got out of the bed earlier, so he stayed put.

Kai woke to Yuu already awake and watching him. He smiled as soon as the younger male greeted him. He stood up and came to sit next to him on the bed. "Hello." He touched foreheads with him before pulling away. Kai stood up in excitement. "You know what!? Lets walk around a bit!" Kai was feeling pretty good about how quickly Yuu was growing. He held out his hands to Yuu, hoping the younger would understand to reach for him.

Yuu watched at how excited Kai got and wondered what was going on. He finally reached out and took the older male's hand and shifted as he got out of the bed again now sitting on the edge of it. The teen looked at him wondering if it was ok to do this. He was so upset last time and now he was encouraging it? Maybe he just didn't like Yuu trying to do things on his own. Still, the teen was hoisted up onto his feet and grabbed onto Kai to keep himself from falling over. His legs were skinny and weak but he was able to move them. They were his legs after all.

Kai grasped Yuu's hand as he held on. When Yuu had situated himself on the edge of the bed, Kai helped him up. He tripped against Kai and he held Yuu close. He let Yuu adjust to the sudden weight on his legs before taking a step back and ushering Yuu to follow.

Yuu continued to watch Kai's every move and stepped forward as well. He stayed fairly close but was able to take a couple steps with minimal help from the gunman. The teen smiled a bit and continued to walk around using Kai as a crutch for each step. His weak legs could hold him a bit and when he got to the doorway into the bedroom, he stopped and just stared. Was it ok to leave the room or did he have to stay he like he did every day?

Kai kept moving backwards, Yuu following closely to him. His smile never ceased to exit on his lips. When they reached the doorway, Kai noticed the confusion on Yuu's face. He wasnt sure why he felt the way he did, but he made sure to assure him it was okay. He rubbed his thumbs over Yuu's skin, gently ribbing his hands and smiled at him. "Dont worryx its alright."

Yuu watched for a moment and took a nervous step forward. When he was finally out of the room, Yuu smiled brightly and laughed. He took a few more steps forward almost tripping but caught himself on Kai and stabled his legs. The young teen was happy but was also getting tired fast. Those weak legs could only do so much and it wasn't like Yuu's been lifting weights so even his arms were pretty weak. Still, he kept going, kept trying to walk farther and farther.

Kai moved with Yuu taking step after step in a speed Yuu was comfortable with. When Yuu suddenly tripped, Kai caught him. But they didnt stop there. Kai didnt want to bring him down just yet, so instead he brought him around the upstairs. Walking down the hallway and into the room kai probably should be using as his own, only to turn around and leave again.

Yuu looked like a kid in a dinosaur museum. He was looking around and was amazed by every little thing that he saw. He noticed the unused bedroom and wondered why it was even there, he and Kai obviously slept in the same room. Oh well. The teen walked on and on even when his legs were starting to beg for mercy. The young teen grabbed onto Kai fully when he got overly tired.

Before reaching half way back down the hallway, Yuu fell in a heap of exhaustion against him. Kai let out a small chuckle at this and quickly lifted Yuu into his arms and carried him back to his bed. Kai laid Yuu down and sat next to him. "Sorry, i over worked your legs, didnt I?" Even if Yuu didnt understand, Kai felt comfortable knowing he could still at least talk to him.

Yuu nodded happily thinking Kai asked if he had fun or something. He clapped and showed his excitement but laid back for a minute catching his breath. The teen was able to finally relax and just happily hung around hoping to be able to do that again when he wasn't hurting so much anymore. Yuu barely registered pain these days but he had no reason to since he didn't know the proper way to react when he was hurt.
