After that things got worse for the young elf, being so young at the time Lash didn?t even know the common tongue, or at least much of it. Those who had captured him took the time to at least teach him the common tongue. Though after he was soon sold to a man, and being untrained caused him nothing but Grief. Time after time he would remember the feeling of a whip against his skin, and bear the marks that it gave him. More than once he had been caught trying to heal himself, but instead of turning him over to the Royals, the man who had bought him just ended getting worse in his treatment when handling Lash. The one who had bought him started getting worse as time went on. Though, finally having earned enough to buy a horse, that made his travels much easier, it got him further from the burned manor he had been living at before. It wasn?t until he reached a small village, though nearer to the castle than he would have liked, that he decided he was far enough. He settled as far from others that he could, but still moved among them, merely telling those that inquired he was from a distant land, to settle their curiosity. Lash settled there, enjoying the peace he had gained, close enough to a wooded forest, and some trails that he could enjoy what nature would have to offer. He eventually got job, working alongside a blacksmith, and made it the castle more often than he would have liked to, but delivering weapons to the guardsmen, and the like were part of the work he had acquired. He never really spoke to anyone there, but did once have the task of delivering the King a sword that had been made especially for his heir, Lash had done most of the work on it himself. After that he decided he no longer needed to move any further, deciding he was as safe as he could get, and just would be careful. He had made a life for himself at village, and most no one bothered him. He started practicing archery, and one of the towns people he spoke to after telling him of his history as a guard taught him combat. Lash excelled in Hand to hand combat, archery, throwing daggers and knives and using close range weapons such as daggers, all which he had made himself and in secrecy enchanted using his magic. He now often hunts in the nearby forests, as well spends a lot of his nights out in the forests, practicing with his daggers, and throwing knives and daggers. His days are spent working at the Smith?s, or delivering packages, such as weapons, armor, and such, to different guard positions, whether it be at other guard posts outside the village, or around the castle itself.

The Story In the kingdom of Gahlrue, there was a common practice among nobles to keep peace amongst each other. The original practice rose hundreds of years ago during a span of years plagued with terrible war, foreign and civil. During a brief moment of civil peace, the nobles and royalty agreed to send at least one child of blood to an ally to ensure the peace be kept and the focus of war be concentrated outwards. The tradition has stayed to this day. Three pronounced noble houses have recently become entangled in a rather dreadful disagreement about political affairs, and have for many years. Fortunately, peace has been kept thanks to the practice of hospes the noble children of blood forfeited to other houses. These three families, The House of Nordikhen, The House of Wehs, and the House of Toris. Toris and Nordikhen were families with shared blood, and it was Toris who found themselves at odds with Wehs first, causing Nordikhen to get involved. The Nordikhen family gave one of their children of blood to the Wehs House when the child was four years old, a year after the conflict started. And while there has yet to be a compromise, this measure has prevented what could have become the first civil war in over a century. My Character 000 The sun was barely starting to rise, and they were making good pace. Glendaule had the hospes in tow. They had no horses yet, that wasn't conspicuous enough. He had expected to find a child in the bed when he infiltrated the castle of Wehs, but he found a young man close to his own age. Glen wasn't too involved with politics himself, so he hadn't known the young man's name before being told to kidnap him. Being a hospes, he assumed he would be a child, as he associated the term with younger children, but that didn't change what he needed to do. In fact, he hoped that it would make traveling easier. The man came with him easily enough, in any case. The fact that Glen wore a Wehs crest and told him it was urgent to follow him out of the castle probably earned his trust to follow without protest, along with the fact that he had woken him up in the middle of the night. In a twisted stroke of luck, one or more of his peers who had infiltrated with him, must have gotten caught, and alarms were raised, the real guards flooding the halls. The poor hospes probably thought Glen was loyal to the Wehs house and was trying to lead him to safety, rather than be part of the very group he likely assumed they were fleeing from. They would carry on until the following sunset. Glen knew they could cover a good deal of ground during that time before they could rest. While Glen was to take the hostage separate from the rest of his conspirers, there were supplies hidden in an old abandoned stronghold that they would be able to stay the next night, provided they reached it. After that, they would have the supplies to make the rest of the journey until he reached the Toris army and the Nordikhen child of blood would be officially under their protection.
