In fact one of my childhood friends I'd go out clubbing with crashed on my sofa regular (rented my own flat), anyway he woke up one morning really hungover whilst I was watching anime on my PC - something normal like ghost in the shell - to which he says "oh god you watching that gay anime again". To which I responded with "this isn't gay anime.. now this is gay anime" and put on Junjo Romantica to be honest he wasn't that bothered, laughed and replied "Your such a fag". I'm lucky with my friends but I've always figured, if your honest (I'm not saying you have to 'out' your love of yaoi) with your friends and have a problem with it to the point that the friendship breaks down thats a sad thing but its not your fault and because your doing something wrong. About my friends, I'm way too open about it to the point that they want me to keep it all to myself or they might become contaminated. Hehe^_^ but they're nice and open minded. 無用 Posted January 3, 2015 Share Posted January 3, 2015 . i think it depends on the person. i'm totally not going to say anything about it to my parents. anything sex related is a waste of time and not appropriate for them. but my sister knows about it. although she only know about the yaoi part not the addiction part. and as for friends... i used to tell them about it and in the worst cases they would just called it bad taste but because of things happened recently i decided to hide it from most ppl. . I tend to keep quiet and lower the brightness on my phone if I'm near a family member and the curiosity to browse gets the better of me. I also leave my hardcore books in my room on campus and only take the "lighter" material with them when I go back home. Other than that, most of my university friends know about my obsession and I mostly hide it while I'm in public. My friends know about my addiction to yaoi. They can tell other people I like yaoi and I wouldn't even mind. I don't talk about it if anyone is uncomfortable with it though. My brother knows I read yaoi. I have yaoi manga at home I ordered and he looked through them. He was like "Holy sht, wtf? I can't believe you get off on this." Haha, that's funny. Now whenever I'm online and I switch tabs, he'd be like "Yaoi, dudes?" He can talk to me about sex, dirty stuff, anything really, and he wouldn't care because my mind is so tainted. That's what he specifically said to me. My parents don't know. They will never find out, meh. My dad almost did once though, he asked to see one of my yaoi books I ordered because it was in Japanese, it was Loveprize in Viewfinder. There was sex everywhere, I had to hurry to find a clean page. Oops. I order the books and they come home, my mom usually gets the mail. She never opens the package though. But when they realized it they were cool with it, and one even got a bit curious. And now everytime she sees cute guys being intimate she fangirls together with me lol. But I hide it from my mom because I think she knows what yaoi is, because she lived in Japan when she was seventeen till her 30s. If I told her I like yaoi, she'd know that the things I read are stuff that kids usually aren't allowed to see. And realize how perverted a kid I am lol. I hide it from my family because I'm pretty sure that my parents would think there's something wrong with me if I told them. I also have a brother and I would never tell him because he's homophobic. Once I told him that I support homosexual people and he looked at me like I just told him that I killed a puppy. So I think it's better if I hide it and keep enjoying my addiction quietly ^^ though it would be nice to have someone to talk about it and to fangirl with here with me... I read some pretty graphic stuff and I don't really find too many people in real life that actually read the hard-core stuff like me. I have the Fluff friends then I have a Friend who reads the graphic stuff like me XD. I refuse to tell my family, I have some sisters who are quite against that kinda thing AND my dad. They just know I read anime, I once had to explain what hentai was since it came up in a comedy movie once and I had to explain why I laughed at the joke...But, yea I don't plan on telling my family I read yaoi, I would prefer if they didn't even know the it exisited Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I would never tell my friends because they are the type of people who make fun of anything Yaoi/BL.
