: I'm not sure if it was you who asked about "kamusta"/"kumusta". Sorry if I tagged you wrongly but about that particular question... The word was taken from the Spanish(?) "Como esta?" which means the same thing so, transforming it and making it into Tagalog's own makes it into "Kumusta" so the correct one is Kumusta but "Kamusta" is also officially used in writing but not in pronunciation.

Hope that cleared things up. Please correct me if any of my info is wrong... ^^

- shouldnt it be "Ano ang pangalan mo?" because 'anong' is like the combination of 'Ano ang' (what is)

Ano - what

ang - is (are is equivalent to 'ang MGA', Mga is a plural form of words in tagalog, in any matter of cases)

pangalan - name

mo - (pertaining to the person you're talking to, depends on the sentence, either your/you)

Thanks for Lesson ONE! We need to know how to pronounce things- I'd suggest a guide with English pronunciation and some basic sentence structures and pronouns( I, you, He, She etc)

Now, this thread starts making sense. As for me I'm fluent in many languages- currently I'm a bit bored, so Filipino sounds fun. My main priority is Korean,tho. I need it( Kpop, movies). I'll learn both at the same time- Korean and Fillipino.

i always hear this from my grade 1-3 teachers before...

"kung anong sulat siyang basa, kung anong basa siyang bigkas"

[how it is written is how it's read, how it is read, is how it is pronounced]

so,, you just pronounce tagalog words with a clean vowel sound,,, no transformation (example.. baby, post) or something...like how we do

a and o in... ohayou!

e in pretend...or egg

i-pick ... u-push
