Have you just concidered putting in another hard drive/upgrading your old one? Do use a laptop mainly but also have a desktop computer that you might be able to use as a file server? There are a lot of good ways of improving storage cheaply, especially now days. You can buy 1tb drives for about 75 now.. for 130-200 you can buy a 3tb one. ;P :hamtaro-005 (23):

Then you could probably set up https and downloadd things from where ever you are. (though you'd want to also setup a dynamic dns and password protected page.) Anyways! You enjoy the hell out of that NAS. Networks totally rock.
