How did you get into Yaoi?

I was googling on how Sanzo meet Goku in Saiyuki and found one. So I read it until the end. It turned out to be a very hot Saiyuki yaoi fanfiction written by amazing writer. Since then, yaoi never leave my mind.

I first read a shonen-ai back in senior year of high school (didn't realize it was one until about 4 months ago), and enjoyed it. (It is my favorite manga of all time and the title in case you're curious is Earl Cain.) I didn't officially got into it until one day, I randomly was looking through doujinshis on a manga reading website and it was a Gintama doujinshi and towards the end of it, when I learned that it was pairing Shinpachi and Gintoki, I was curious. Not too long afterwards, I needed new anime to watch, and I watched someone I subscribed to on Youtube list their top 10 guilty pleasures and then 3 hours later, I got hooked on yaoi. I am about 100% yaoi addict to the point that I wanted to do a bunch of random doujinshis and somehow publish it on the internet. This was a long story, but it's exactly what happened.

I read some SasuNaru fanfics that were actually pretty good (as most arent) when I was really bored... Funny thing is, this was before I had my first crush (on a guy) and realized I was bisexual, even...

 

I was just really bored and decided 'What the heck, can't hurt I guess, let's see if it's any good' xD

While looking for some random anime to watch, I came across Gravitation, and was attracted to Yuki at first sight. I decided to give it a go without knowing any single thing about yaoi or shounen-ai, so when I saw Yuki and Shuichi kissed in the elevator, I was like :_red_fox 11. I even double-checked if Shuichi is really a guy or a girl in disguised, 'coz it's weird for me (since I was just a child at that time, it was a very loooong time ago) to see two guys kissing each other. Then when I confirmed that it really is a love story between two guys, I thought, why not? After watching the whole series, I became this --> :7yoyo10:, I instantly fell in love with the genre. And I've been a die-hard fujoshi since then. That's how I met and fell in love with YAOI/BL.

wherein i was there watching normal hentai where an unknown thumbnail is one of the suggested videos to watch underneath.

i clicked the video with curiosity and look! two anime guys smexing!

i laughed my ass off since i never thought of it existing.

 

but then again, i don't know what it's called.

luckily, there's a comment section right beside it and i saw an unfamiliar word for me; and that's "yaoi".

i searched and searched to understand this phenomena.

 

i'm not really into anime/manga for starters.

i enjoy anime as it is before.

i never really got into it to the point of knowing certain terms within anime/manga culture;

or what's happening underneath it; learning from the people of the internet more about it unlike i do now.

 

so anyways, i get into yaoi after the search for the word.

i somehow ended in a manga reading site namely Spectrum Nexus : Yaoi Section.

i started reading one or two then i got addicted to it that i read a whole bunch in one night.

 

that was my start of getting into yaoi, then learning the other branches of yaoi.

Oh my gah hahaha whenever i remember that time... i can't help but laugh at myself.

You see, it was when i was reading Naruto X Hinata Doujins on YouTube. And then i accidentally clicked the SasuNaru Doujin. I was wondering what SasuNaru is, so yeah i watched it. I also wasn't aware of the fact that it was an R18 video. I really cursed yaoi that time but due to curiosity, i continued watching it until.. yeah. XD

I decided to rent a bunch of Anime DVDs and Gravitation was one, I for one am the type to grab things without reading them, so I pop that bad boy into my DVD player at the ripe age of probably twelve or thirteen I lost my imaginary yaoi cherry that day *wipes away imaginary tears and gets tissues for nosebleed*. Like an instant bomb went off, I got online and started reading softcore stuff first, then hardcore stuff, and now I kind of mix it around.

The first yaoi story I ever read was a Vampire Knight fan fiction. Back then I didn't read the labels and was surprised to find that it was a romantic story between the two main male characters. The first real yaoi manga I ever read was Crimson Spell and that only because I wanted to find out what "yaoi" even was. I'd been reading shoujo manga for years and I guess it was time for something new ;-)

i think it was probably due to my curiosity (and partly because i've read fanfictions before). i started out with the mangas though. with regards to gvs, i've only seen gifs. i forgot who it was but he's kinda famous because he's so pretty. lol

Well, mine originally started when i found a web-comic called 'Wires'. I originally thought it was a straight romance, as one of the main protagonists looked like a girl to me at the time. I liked the romance but as i progressed i found out they were both guys. At first, confronted with something i had never seen before, i denied it. However, eventually i found i liked it and from there i began reading yaoi, first completing Wires, then it's sequel Wires 2.

The first manga i read was called 'Ice Eagle, Fire Hawk' on spectrum nexus, because it reminded me of a movie i liked called 'Fire and Ice'. I don't remember reading it the whole way through, but that started my yaoi manga reading, which is now quite extensive.

The first anime pairing i found and liked was SasuNaru from Naruto, despite the fact i don't particularly like the series. From there i moved to other pairing and eventually found my home in the Hetalia pairings, though i still venture through other animes.

The first yaoi anime i watched was probably Junjou Romantica, but i'm not sure. I found this on Yaoi-Haven (not the roleplay one). At this point, i was a fan of hardcore and watched stuff like Sensitive Pornograph.

The first time i roleplayed in a yaoi setting was in Yaoi-Haven (the roleplaying one). The plot was about a vampire (me), who is chasing down a victim one day and he turns out to be part of rare bloodline of humans called the Amai-Chi (sweet bloods). Before then, i had roleplayed extensively without yaoil, but this was my first time roleplaying yaoi and even sex.

The first fan-fiction i wrote was for the previously mentioned hetalia. It came to me when i was half asleep and featured USUK. The fanfic is called 'Secret Love Letter' and can still be found on my fanfiction.net account.

I actually was into yaoi before I even knew what it was lol. When I was in 6th grade, I really liked Death Note and I thought Matt and Mello would make a good couple and I was convinced, for some reason, that Mello was a girl and then one day my friend was like

"Mello's a boy." and I was like "Huh? Really?" and that was that. I just continued on my merry way, I guess! heheh.

Well I saw a commercial for gravitation when I was watching an anime boxset (I can't remember the name of it anymore) and I hadn't heard of yaoi before. Seeing the commercial I started weirdly squeeling (and strangly turned on) that was the cause of the start of my quest to read and watch everything yaoi.
