In Korea, you might be surprised, but most authors only earn money through online webtoon platforms and ebooks. Very few get their works printed and sold if online sales are poor. Sadly, if you look into it, they often suffer from health issues like joint problems, cancer... and sometimes even miscarriages...... along with exploitation by companies, studios, and harassment from senior colleagues. That's why Korea is very strict about online copyright. Plagiarism is also common.
