鼠ドル Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 @Chiakai - the particle "に" indicate time/direction. - the partice "で" indicate the place where the action takes place (i.e. "in", "at", "on" etc.) Example: バスで学校に行きます。 I ride the bus to school. (Direction: school, Means by transportation: bus) Example 2: 日本でどこに行きたいですか。 Where in Japan do you want to go? (Direction: Where? Place of action: Japan) Did that clear things up for you? 1
chiakaiyuki Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Nezuさん、ありがと。(^^) (私は)車で公園に行きます。I go to the park by car. 明日、バスで職に行きます。Tomorrow, I'll go to work on the bus. Am I right in thinking the tense doesn't change (future=present)? And sorry, but can you give more examples, with the 'time' meaning of に? I'm not sure how that would work...
鼠ドル Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 はい、そうです!正統です(: Time, hmm... Okay, let's see *smile* 八時に家を出ます。 I leave home at 8 o'clock. Actually, に can be used for more than time&direction, but that's the more basic use of it. It can also be used to indicate source and purpose. Example (of purpose): 映画を見に行った。 I went to see a movie Example (of source): 母にしかられた。 I was scolded by my mother. 1
Gutto Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 In cases where you have numerals, for example? 10時に起きました。 It doesn't happen in situations like: 日曜日に僕があなたの家に行きます × (Wrong) 日曜日僕があなたの家に行きます 〇 (Correct) Well, I think so xD
鼠ドル Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Gutto - I believe に should be used when it's SPECIFIC time (like June 4th, 8 o'clock etc). However time like today/tomorrow/yesterday are relative time therefor に shouldn't be used. (:
Saga Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 に can be used instead of で / へ for place. What is specific is that に is more 'detailed'. As Nezu said,it is used when one wants to specify the EXACT time/date/place/location/direction/source. It's a play of sentence-sense. When one wants to clearly state something and to underline it,they use に instead of other particles.
