"Is this why people say “maybe” when they mean “yes,” but hope you’ll think it’s “no” when all they really mean is, Please, just ask me once more, and once more after that?"

Call Me By Your Name

"I wanted to hear his window open, hear his espadrilles on the balcony, and then the sound of my own window, which was never locked, being pushed open as he’d step into my room after everyone had gone to bed, slip under my covers, undress me without asking, and after making me want him more than I thought I could ever want another living soul, gently, softly, and, with the kindness one Jew extends to another, work his way into my body, gently and softly, after heeding the words I’d been rehearsing for days now, Please, don’t hurt me, which meant, Hurt me all you want."

Call Me By Your Name

People are just so caught up in their world of pain versus addiction that anything can and does happen.

He inhaled smoke, exhaled his anxiety, inhaled smoke again, and exhaled embarrassment.

Fortitude Smashed

Again, it was as if nothing had changed, and Aiden almost wished they were sixteen again. He'd make btter choices. He'd keep in touch. He'd probably go to college. He'd be something.

But they weren't sixteen, and Aiden couldn't go back, and he said it loudly in his head, you'll be fine, you'll be fine, you'll be fine, you'll be fine, no matter how envious he was of everyone else's success.

"What do anal sex and spinach have in common? If you're forced to have either as a child, you won't want it as an adult"

Tell Me It's Real

Nothing is ever that easy, and even if it was, maybe it wasn't a good idea to settle for easy. That life was too short to settle for easy and that maybe, just maybe, I should step out of my comfort zone for once in my fucking life

The Song of Achilles

a small spoiler for the Song of Achilles

What had Deidameia thought would happen, I wondered, when she had her women dance for me? Had she really thought I would not know him? I could recognize him by touch alone, but smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breath came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.

For what it's worth, I think it would be incredibly depressing if you actual proudest moment happened in middle school.

Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda

Isn't it funny the way you fantasize about junk food when you're a kid? It's really all-consuming. I guess you have to obsess about something before you know about sex

For the next three and a half years, I was Jack Kerouac without a Neal Cassady: I smoked pot, I watched my friends die, I hitchhiked to California, I hunted for Travis, I got drunk when I couldn’t find him, I went to law school, I got laid, I felt for swollen glands, I watched my friends die, I stayed away from the Harvard Center for Business Administration so I wouldn’t run into Clayton, I pretended I didn’t see him when I ran into him anyway, I passed the bar exam, I got laid some more, I searched for lesions, I got my blood tested, I grew up, and I watched my friends die. It was all quite tragic and inevitably romantic

Almost Like Being In Love

I'm a guy who has a steady job and a home. I'm not in need of a guy to heal me. Nor do I need someone promising me a future. I can look after myself perfectly well.. and I can choose my partner by myself.

I can do things to you that you can't even imagine. I can stuff you with a dildo the size of your forearm, lock your cock in a cage, and fuck your face until I come down your throat. Then I can bend you over, whip you till you scream, and shoot another load up your ass. You'd pass out with my cum in both ends and my marks on your skin, and then I'd wake you up in the middle of the night and do it all over again

The Foxhole Court

"You gave me a key and call it home"

The King's Men

"Love is the bully on the playground who takes your lunch money and gives you a black eye in return, the arsonist who burns your house down with you in it, the witch who lures you into her home with candy and boils you alive for dinner. Love is raw, and violent, and instantaneous. You don't fall in love; you get trampled by it."

The Brothers Bishops

I don't put bookmarks much..but i try to memorize the lines and the scenario i like..i will share some of my recent read quotes

Lord Heliodor's Retirement by Amy Rae Durreson

They had been greedy for each other, stealing time together, reaching for each other’s bodies at every opportunity, but from the distance of his years, it all seemed oddly innocent. You could only love like that, utterly and joyously, when you were too young to know what a broken heart felt like.

There were too many years between who they were and who they had been. You couldn’t bridge decades with the click of your fingers, whatever romantic poets claimed.

Corun kissed him again, another of those leisurely, all-consuming kisses that made Adem’s thoughts slow down as his heart beat faster and stronger. It still felt like a dream, something that would just fade away when he inevitably woke

“I forgave you a lot the moment you came back from the dead,” Adem said truthfully. “And, yes, I want the full story from you, and yes, I’m angry and afraid that you only came back because it was your job—”“—but you’re alive. You’d have to do more than just lie to make me hate you after that.”

Maybe With a Chance of Certaintainity - John Goode (Foster High #1)

“I know how this

movie ends. We dont become fast friends on Monday morning and just forget everything

that comes before. Im not going to be a spaz and come up and try to talk to you in the

hallway in front of your friends or anything. Im not that guy.”

NO ONE starts a trip thinking that they might crash. Even though there is always a

possibility, no one in their right mind ever begins a journey thinking that its going to end

in failure. There are only two types of people in the world who are aware and plan on

crashing before they ever start: test pilots and teenage boys.

[p.s. i really like this author's writing style but Brad felt like such a jerk in the first book..i wan to continue this series at the same time i don't]

The Ark Trilogy by Jesse Daro

“Because it is

true. This is who I am. It’s like your skin. You can’t hide it, and you can’t change it.”

“No.” A depth of tonality in Marshall’s voice, like a piano striking a perfect chord,

brought Seth around to face him. “I mean I’ll ring your doorbell, and we’ll take pictures in

your living room, and I’ll hold your hand, and I’ll dance with you, every dance if you’ll let

me, and when we get home, I’ll walk you to your front door, and I’ll kiss you good night.”

“Because like I said,” Marshall finished, roughly. “There are things I want, now.”

His eyes had darkened to cobalt. Seth sat perfectly still as he leaned over on the bench,

placing his hands on either side of Seth, and brushed his mouth over his. Seth wanted him

as badly now as he ever had. Some things you only wanted more of the more you had of

them. My bounty is boundless as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the

more I have, for both are infinite.

Aisling Trilogy by Carole Cummings

He hadn’t expected the sweetness. The intimacy. His own failure to back away from either. The refusal to blush at the sounds that had been wrung from him, and the eager asking that wound from his own throat, raspy and demanding. The willingness to allow those wide hands to guide him into an arrangement of bodies and limbs that wouldn’t tear at sutures, and then rock into it all with as close to abandon as he’d ever been.

He tore his eyes from Dallin’s sleeping face, pushed his knuckles into them and pressed hard. Sorry. I’m a user, didn’t you know? I’ll use you to make sure I don’t get exiled from my own mind, and I’ll use you to make myself feel better after having extracted the promise. Just because you actually care doesn’t mean anything, doesn’t alter your usefulness; in fact, it rather enhances it, doesn’t it?

So, why did it set every emotion Wil possessed—and some he hadn’t known he possessed—into some kind of gyrating spasm?

Because you mean to betray him, and you both know it, and he’s going to let you, and you both know that, too. And it won’t make him stop caring, and that’s… it’s like…

Damn you for making me glad your eyes will be the last thing I see. Damn you for making me so bloody sorry for it, too. Damn you for making me wish there could be more. Damn you for being so sure there could be.

And damn you, damn you for showing me what hope is.

He was alive when he shouldn’t be, loved when he couldn’t be. Not meant, not wise, not chosen, unforeseen—no one could have seen Dallin coming—and yet here Wil was, love quite literally in his hands, pressed up against him, breathing it all into his bones like

he deserved it

[p.s. there are a lot of inner dialogues i liked in this trilogy especially Will's as how he thinks he can never have happiness]

To be careful with people and with words was a rare and beautiful thing.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

The guy in the next room had a dog. He used to kick the shit out of that dog, but afterwards in the parking lot he'd whistle to it and it would still come running. I never did understand why that dog didn't just bite him and run. I think I do now. When some asshole makes himself the god of your universe, and you don't even know how it happened, you've already lost the fight.

Stealing Innocents

Not that he didn’t like compliments, but—this was probably unfair—that much admiration was off-putting. Or maybe it only seemed like undue admiration in comparison to Kennedy, who offered praise like he was spilling his life’s blood. The thing was, when Kennedy did break down and give a compliment, you damn well knew you deserved it.

The Monet Murders

I shook my head. “No. I refuse to have our first real conversation while I’m sitting in your lap. If you want me to get dressed, have coffee in your kitchen, be all serious, I say okay. But I’m not baring my soul in the back of your car.”

Change of Heart

Is Mary Renault easy to read? I remember starting reading one of her boks a year ago, but got scared away by what at that time seemed like a heavy English..

, this one is my favourite.

“Why no," he said, reasonably, and looked at his watch, "we can wait another hour if you like. We can become friends then. Or we can wait until closing time. We can become friends then. Or we can wait until tomorrow, only that means that you must come in here tomorrow and perhaps you have something else to do." He put his watch away and leaned both elbows on the bar. "Tell me," he said, "what is this thing about time? Why is it better to be late than early? People are always saying, we must wait, we must wait. What are they waiting for?”

Omega for the Pack by N.J. Lysk

You didn't need to be trying to hurt someone to do it - all it took was chance or carelessness, or just plain ignorance

Exhale by Joel Abernathy

“Have you lost your damn mind?” “Absolutely. I’ve had three days to trace back my steps and I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no reclaiming it, so I may as well dedicate myself to insanity.”

Working It by Christine D'Abo

He despised how the scar on his face opened him up to questions and comments, as if everyone felt entitled to information about his body now that it was so visibly flawed. Not the sort of conversation he wanted to have with his family and friends, let alone complete strangers who didn't know the first thing about him

Kill Game by Cordelia Kingsbridge

It's not what it looks like? Nobody had ever believed that line in the history of the English language.

Where Death Meets the Devil by L.J. Hayward

"You're just a weaponist, Jack" "A weaponist?" "Like a racist, but against certain weapons" "And you never met a weapon you didn't like" "A couple, actually, but that was more professionality differences" "Hah! No. You're just a weapon slut. There's a difference. I am weapon monogamist"

not as hard as jamie o'neill, at swim two boys. have you read the charioteer? bc between the two books, the charioteer is easier to read. but it makes sense if the english feels heavy in the last of the wine, i mean the story setting was in greek time. i liked mary renault's books bc aesthetically pleasing ha
