the October's nights were always moody; once it would be warm, then suddenly a whole ocean would whip over the town. And this night was no exception. The first droplet crashed onto the tip of Tomoya's shoulder as he was smoking on the veranda, his amber, bathed in dark honey, eyes stared into the small pond in his beautifully decorated garden. That garden actually had its history. He spent two years to nourish each plant, and all his energy into ordering the oval stones. The feng shui harmony was reached with each next placement of be it a stone, plant or pond. Also, it was hard not to notice the iron statuette of a fox near the so said pond he was staring at. Despite the moisture spreading over it as a sign for the upcoming storm, he was just helplessly sitting there - lost in thoughts.

3 DAYS EARLIER.

- I can't believe it, Tomoya! How can you even speak of love when you've committed such a sin? No, not the sin is of a matter. How could you even think forgiveness is among the things I can offer when you took away all I lived for!?

- Brother...please, listen to me.. - his grip still in hold of his younger brother's wrist. The struggles and the yells didn't really help his situation, but yet Tomoya appeared to be in control of his raging emotions.

- Listen to you!? I don't even want to see you! - a harsh pull, his brother tried to tear the hold with the abrupt gesture yet Tomoya didn't let go.

- Masato.. - like a plead, his voice was barely audible. But before he could finish his sentence, his brother back slapped him with his free hand.

- Get out of my sight! Now!

Mutely the male tugged his brother in close, locking them in a violent kiss, his teeth scraping against his blood and flesh' lips as his chest felt throbs. But these throbs knew their root not; was it because of the harsh whams of his brother's fists or was it because of something even more cruel? What was cruelty actually? Was it an estimated conclusion of a current disadvantage? Or was it an excuse for one's current weakness?

The males were in a pull-push play that resulted nothing but a hard thud onto the floor. Still with spiteful words and violently abrupt hits or kicks, they were barely seen as getting along blood relatives. In fact, the picture was so grotesque that one would quickly recognize it as an assault.

Torn clothes, bruised and bleeding lips, screams and yelps.

The very ugly form of betrayal. But Tomoya, he lost it. And worse was, he knew he lost it but despite of it, he couldn't stop. No matter how much his very being pleaded to not hurt any further the only person he loved, paradoxically he wanted to rip each layer of him. Clothes, skin, bones, vessels, pain, humiliation, hatred, regrets - until all left was the pure form of his brother's soul. The last layer, and once he would tear even that one, he knew nothing but despair would be left.

They say somethings can never be forgotten.

No matter what you do or how hard you try.

But there are somethings you wish you could forget.

Though no matter what you do or how hard you try,

You can never forget what cannot be forgotten.

The gruesome scene was burnt into the depths of his cornea and no matter what he did, it never faded away.

He wanted to gouge his eyeballs out. But the damn images was imprinted in his brain.

Maybe he had walked into his worst nightmare?

No. Even a nightmare couldn't be that fucked up.

He could only stare as the scene unfolded before him. His brain seemed to have shut down completely. He forgot to breathe. His head started swimming.

Torn clothes, bruised and bleeding lips, screams and yelps.

- No...

The pleading voice of his father reached his ears and his brain exploded as the scene before him hit him with the force of a bullet train.

He dashed out of the room as fast as his legs could carry him, knocking over an expensive porcelain glass vase in the bargain and not stopping, as it fell to the ground and shattered into a hundred tiny pieces. He wished the images in his head would break too. He wished he could shatter them as he did to the vase. But it refused to disappear.

He ran to his room, locked himself in and sank to the floor, gulping big mouthfuls of air.

It was a nightmare. It was a nightmare. It was a nightmare.

He kept chanting to himself over and over again. Somehow the more he said it, the less convincing it seemed. And the less convincing it seemed, the more he doubted what he saw.

The grotesque images flashed before his eyes, like a broken television set on loop -

His father on the ground.

His uncle on top of him.

Kissing him.

Touching him.

Assaulting him.

Ryuu screamed in fury and rubbed his temples, eyes shut tight, trying to think of anything and everything except that which he just had the extreme misfortune of walking into. His scream of frustration mingled with the clap of thunder and the rain fell on.

a flash reminded him of the three days that rolled off so dully, what day it was - he had no clue. But certainly that time felt like yesterday. Those three days that were the purest form of torture locked him in a never-ending labyrinth of thoughts. The rain started to free fall, and it was anything but like the storm from back then. One could describe dark waters of life in many ways, but would they always skip the part of remembrance.

Tomoya reached slowly his cold palm up, rubbing the spot between his brows. The weather got his body temperature drop, which partly was due to the yukata he was wearing. Who in their right mind would wear such a light clothing during October? Well, probably the fact he wasn't young anymore played another role. But going back in time, Tomoya always had a low body temperature.

With the harsh whips of the cold rain, his shoulders grew even more tired. The male rose from his spot, dripping water on his way inside the house.

**

- Get off! Look what you've done! You think everything has to be your way and once you obtain it, things would eventually go well. But Tomoya...

His brother rose on feet, staring with the eyes of a stranger at his own brother,

- You only know how to desolate and hurt people. Don't ever show your face in my house.

**

- ..ha.. - a faint sigh escaped his lips, the remembered words made him slightly dizzy.

Maybe his brother had a point. He only knew how to hurt people, dirty them and when finally satisfied - he'd abandon them. Spoke of his experience in relationships. No wonder he never lasted with the same partner for long. And it had nothing to do with the fact he was a gay man.

When he finally got a small-sized towel, enough to wipe his face though he used it for his hair, the phone in the living room rang. It's been ringing for three days already. Alas he had no desire to talk to anyone, thus mostly he pretended to be away.

*DING

"Hello, this is Ueda Tomoya's residence. I'm apparently away or unable to answer, so you can leave a message after the tone.

----"

- ..Tomo-yuu*, darned geezer, stop ignoring my calls and pick! I know you're there. The guys and I will be waiting for you in Luciano's bar. You better come or we'll crash at your place after getting drunk, you hear me? See you there!

The threat came so natural. The male was one of the closest friends of Tomoya, which partly was visible from the way he addressed him. Aside that, he knew almost everything about Ueda. From the purest form of embarrassing moments he's had, to the darkest thoughts of his. And if one would rename him, it'd be probably related to the banal way of 'Encyclopedia of Ueda Tomoya's secret thoughts' was used for books of that kind.

Dark strands hair damply stuck to his white skin before they were brushes backwards, off his forehead. Tomoya knew his friend in the very same manner, so the threat was something Sano would use whenever confident in doing so. Bothersome. Every single thing was becoming bothersome.

Ueda frowned and resigned from the thought to ignore him. If anything, he'd better go there, get drunk and maybe, just maybe he might be able to get some nice ass for one of his one-night-stands. Sounded pretty tempting as for now.

*Note: Tomo-yuu is Sano's way of addressing Tomoya. The nickname origin is made of Tomoya's first name part and the first part of the word 'yuujin'(friend). He'd been addressing him this way ever since high-school.

“There are some as are what they are.

And there are some as aren't what they seem to be.

And there are some as only seem to be what they seem to be.”

- Neil Gaiman -

The storm raged on.

Not just the one outside, but the one is Ryuu's head as well. He still had a hard time coming to terms with what he had seen. His uncle was the one he had looked up to, ever since he was a kid. His dad was a good man. But he never really had time for Ryuu. He was always working and whenever he did come home, he would spend all his time with his wife. She was the love of his life. He fell head over heels in love with the woman, the very first time he ever laid eyes on her. Their marriage was a torrid affair. And before it even sank in, along came the kid. They were too young to be parents.

Ryuu was ignored most of his life. He wasn't complaining though. Music took centre stage and he was lost in it half the time. His uncle doted on him. But many a times, whenever Ryuu locked eyes with him, he saw that far away look in his uncle's eyes. Like his uncle was fighting a losing battle. Against who, he had no clue. But things changed as Ryuu got older.

His mother passed away.

The scream that left his father's lips the day he came to know his love was taken away from him, pierced Ryuu's heart like a knife. He had never ever seen his father cry before. And looking at the broken, screaming man on the floor, Ryuu did something he had never done in his life. He hugged his old man.

The slap on his cheek was totally unexpected. Ryuu stared at his father, cheek stinging from where his hand had left it's mark. “You're the worst father ever.” He spat out and left. He never spoke more than two words to him after that. His uncle stopped doting on him and a funny kind of hatred took it's place. But Ryuu still had utmost respect for his dad's brother. Until now.

His family was broken. At times, he wondered if he even had a family. His mother was dead. And even though his father was still breathing, he was dead to Ryuu. And his uncle...

Ryuu shut his eyes and messed up his already messy hair. He had a horrible headache. He hadn't eaten much in the last three days and he didn't feel like eating either. Damn, he could do with a drink or a smoke. He rummaged around in his room but couldn't find even one. Cursing, he pulled on a hoodie and his jeans and tried to flatten out his hair, but in vain. Sighing, he made his way to the door.

And the storm continued to rage on.

life was a joke for the fool, a game for the rich and a tragedy for the poor. This was how things rolled ever since humanity started evolving. Yet despite his fortune, Tomoya never could name life, unlike many philosophers, critiques and god know some poor tormented soul lost in the wild. Maybe it was because time had stopped for him for too long.

The male was dressed in a neat suit, dark ash-gray coat and by its contours the silver threats left some impression for steal style. The shirt, that was in plain peach that could be mistaken for white, was slightly unbuttoned around the shirt's collar. It "broke" that business-touch style to something more playful. The male had a nice taste in fashion, and of course he didn't miss to leave the impression of a very steady stepped on ground middle aged man.

With a slight push on the door, he entered the bar. In fact it was a place where he often dropped by. Luciano's staff already was familiar with Tomoya's friends and him. Who wouldn't? In a gay bar successful and handsome males were the rage, very popular.

Tomoya spotted his friends right away; after all the bar was the typical place they'd take seats on. So he walked up to them, one hand jabbed in his pants pocket as for the other, it slightly fixed the unbuttoned shirt.

- Took you long, Tomo-yuu! - a strong arm hopped over Tomoya's nape to feel the weight of his friend, Sano.

- ..I see you guys started the fun, huh? - with a slight dismiss he pushed Sano's arm off his shoulder.

- What are you talking about? The fun's about to start! - another male assured the party was in its very first stage. Figures, the dancers were getting ready to "set the stage on fire".

Whiskey spilled like on freshmen college students' party. The music beat loud and laughter bathed the farce around Tomoya. But despite the plans he had, to get drunk and screw some nice ass, he didn't really feel like it. Well, probably the part with being drunk was partly fulfilled. Once he could take rid of the annoying attention the crowd granted him with, the male left the bar to have a smoke outside.

But even in his drunken state, he could tell the steps that tip-toed after him. Surely, someone was interested enough to follow him outside. What a trouble, he thought.

“After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were.

After the second, you see things as they are not.

Finally, you see things as they really are,

and that is the most horrible thing in the world.”

- Oscar Wilde -

The cold breeze felt lovely against his skin. After three days of sitting in his cramped up room, it felt good to be out, despite the rain. Ryuu pulled his hood snugly over his head. Within a few minutes however, he was soaked to his skin. He loved the rain. The smell of the wet earth took over his senses and the lush green scenery started to calm him immediately. He should have got out earlier, he thought to himself, as he made his way towards the town. He debated whether to go to a bar or buy a couple of bottles and get drunk in his room. There was no fun in going back home though. He needed to get distracted and going back to the place where the memories were going to come flooding back was definitely not going to help.

He wandered around for a bit. The cold rain lashed at him and dark clouds mirrored the dark, tumultuous thoughts that ran through his mind. His face clouded with rage and he shook his head, trying to rid his mind of what he had seen. But it didn't look like it was ever going to stop haunting him. He needed a damn drink. He spotted a liquor shop at the corner of the road and made his way towards it. The roads were almost deserted. Whether it was because of the rain or the lateness of the hour, he knew not as he had lost all sense of time.

The door creaked open as he stepped into the dimly lit shop. There was no one around and he waited in silence till the guy came to the counter. After making his purchase he made his way towards a park that he used to play in when he was a kid. The place was silent and eerie. Ryuu sat on a swing and drank all the bottles quickly till there was not a drop left. He felt a little lightheaded and wobbled a bit as he stood up to leave. The rain has eased up slightly but the cold nip in the air still persisted. He shivered a little. He was drenched, cold and tipsy. Not a very good combination. He needed more alcohol in his system and so he made his way back to the shop.

Little did he know he was going the wrong way and down the very road he would have later wished he'd never set foot on, ever.
