  13. Julius stared at him. There were a lot of things he’d prepared for when thinking of this wedding. Family drama, last-minute seating changes or the inevitable cake panic. But Yukie declaring, with regal seriousness, that he wanted to *throw* a weaponized glitter bomb at their guests? That hadn't been on the list. For a long second, Julius said nothing. He just looked at his fiancé, really *looked* at the impish glint in his eyes, the absurd sincerity in his tone, the way he held himself like a monarch delivering an edict, even as the corners of his mouth twitched with barely-concealed laughter. Julius exhaled through his nose, slow and long. “I’m sorry,” he said finally, rubbing a hand over his face in mock-exasperation, “did you just say you want to *pelt* someone into marriage?” He gestured at the bouquet, now resting innocently on the table as if it wasn’t plotting ocular glitter-based warfare. “Like, full-on *yeet* this thing at a person, and whoever doesn’t duck fast enough is legally obligated to go home engaged?” His voice was dry, but there was a smile creeping into it, despite his best efforts. Of course he knew about that old tradition of bouquet tossing, and that no one really took it serious. It was just a romantic and fun gesture. One that showed that everyone could become just as happy as the marriged couple. He let his hand fall away from his face, resigned affection plain in his expression. Of course Yukie had found a way to make this ridiculous thing (his creation) feel like it had *meaning*. And blend it into some tradition. And of course Julius, sucker that he was, also loved him for his dark humor. “You really want to box it up and give it a dramatic final ending, huh?” he chuckled as he stepped closer, while looking at the bouquet like it might lunge at him. “place it whereit gets attention. Let it sit there all glittery and menacing while people drink, eat and wonder what it’s for.” He squinted at it then glanced back at Yukie, the fake-serious look on his face fading into something more funny. And then, his tone shifted, teasing and just a touch incredulous. “But you’re the one throwing it. You know.. if anyone could pull that off, it’s you.” .................. After the dinner was finished and dishes had been washed, Yumro made his way up to the loft with a bounce in his step and two folded blankets balanced on one shoulder. The air was still tinged with the scent of dinner. The loft was already dim, bathed in soft moonlight that crept through the wide windows. Yumro stopped just inside, gave the room a thoughtful look, then nodded once. “Alright, let’s make this cozy.” He snapped his fingers, and shadows curled out from under the floorboards like obedient cats. They unrolled the mattresses first thick, silk-stuffed from somewhere in rural China, comfortably but light. Another flick, and the bedding unfolded itself smoothly: pale linen sheets, deep navy blankets, and a small mountain of pillows. Too many pillows? Possibly. But he figured they'd pick favorites and kick the rest to the floor anyway. Or Haruvwould justbbuilt a small nest. He moved with ease, fluffing here, straightening there, and even tossing one pillow in the air to test its bounce. Not bad. Definitely approved. With a brief glance to the windows, he murmured a simple spell, and the edges of the glass darkened subtly. The shadows laced together in a delicate film that would cut the worst of the morning light without stealing the view completely. Just enough to let the boys sleep in without waking up feeling like they were being interrogated by the sun. He stood back to admire the setup, hands on his hips. Two comfortable beds, soft lighting, a view of the stars, and enough warmth in the room to forget the night chill entirely. Perfect. Just then, he heard the familiar sound of footsteps on the stairs behind him. Yumro turned, grinning. “Ah, perfect timing. Loft’s officially open. Five-star sleeping arrangement, just for you two. New fresh bedding, hand-fluffed pillows by yours truly, and the windows are now 87% less blinding at sunrise. You’re welcome.” He gestured to the beds with an exaggerated sweep like a stage magician revealing his final act. “Try not to fight over who gets which side. Or do. Either way, I’m claiming moral victory for making it look this good.” As the boys entered and settled in, Yumro lingered a moment longer, watching them take it all in. Then he walked over, crouched down one more time beside the beds, and tugged the blankets up gently. Not because they needed his help, but because it was just something he just offered. A small gesture. "Alright, all set. If either of you needs anything, extra blanket, emergency midnight snack or monster repellent. You know where to find me." With a warm smile and a playful wink, Yumro stood, gave a casual salute, and headed toward the stairs. “Sleep tight, try not to snore too loud, and if you wake up on the roof, that’s on you.” And with that, he padded softly down the stairs. With the shadows gently trailing behind him like well-behaved pets. He let out a breath through his nose, equal parts amusement and satisfaction. The house felt more alive that he could ever remember, eventhough it was more quiet now. It was a good kind of silence. As he stepped into the living-room room, his eyes immediately landed on Haruhi. The corner of Yumro’s mouth lifted into a smirk as he took in the sight: a blanket draped half-heartedly, book in hand, posture far too relaxed to pretend he wasn’t about to doze off. There was a familiar softness to it, one that made Yumro’s chest feel all warm. He leaned against the doorway for a moment, watching. Then, quietly, he crossed the room. “I just spent twenty minutes tucking in two unruly boys upstairs,” he said aloud, voice low and playful, not really expecting a reply. “They got pillows fluffed, blankets straightened, even a charm on the windows so they don’t wake up grumpy with the sun in their faces.” Yumro stopped beside the couch, tilting his head slightly, eyes narrowing with mock suspicion. “But you, my dear, have apparently appointed yourself exempt from such luxury?” He reached down and gently adjusted the blanket over Haruhi’s legs, smoothing a crease without being asked. His movements were casual, but careful, in that deliberate way people move when they are caring for someone they love. “Unacceptable,” he murmured with a small grin. “I offer world-class tuck-in services and this is the thanks I get?” Yumro stayed there for a beat longer, close but not crowding, his voice dropping just enough to carry something softer beneath the teasing. “You know,” he added, “I do have some energy left. I could be convinced to make one more stop before officially ending my shift for the night.” He gave a slow, exaggerated stretch of his shoulders, as if considering the monumental task ahead of him. “Fluffing your pillows. Tucking you in just right.” He stood upright again, casting a sideways glance toward the hallway that led to master bedroom. “But only if you ask nicely,” he said with a wink. “Otherwise, I will carry you bridestyle and make dramatic noises all the way there. Your choice.” The smile tugging at the corners of his lips would be noticed.
