You’re the one who holds us together, the heart of all of this.” He pulled Haruhi just a little closer, as if to make sure his words were felt as much as heard. “You’re a devoted parent, and… the most amazing person in my world.” A small pause, then, softer still: “Even when it feels overwhelming, I’m here. I’ll always support you.”

It was the only way he could right the upbringing he should have had.
