I'll be sharing 2 works in one post because these are basically volumes 1 and 2 of the same work! These files are pretty big though, and technically yes, I could make an account on a file converter website but they make you pay just to convert any file that exceeds the size for free users (and highkey I don't really wanna pay the money only to use it like once ^^;) Sorry for the inconvenience !! I'll also be reuploading works that people have been asking for later this month! I'm currently down with a cold so I'm gonna try and get better to make sure I reupload the works correctly and to listen to BL works properly hehe And to give context of this work, I actually found someone who shared the first volume and their synopsis is very good! Asher hadn’t expected that. The moment Kaito’s fingers closed around his wrist, surprise flashed across his face. Not because the touch itself startled him, but because Kaito had actually managed to do it so quickly. Far faster than someone newly awakened would normally have been able to. Asher looked down briefly at the hand around his wrist before his gaze lifted back to Kaito’s face. The grin there pulled an answering reaction from him almost immediately, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. “…Not bad,” he admitted quietly. And he meant it. He gently pulled his wrist free once Kaito let go, but his attention stayed fixed on him, sharper now. Assessing differently. Kaito had adapted mid-motion. Most new wolves froze in their own bodies during the first days. Their senses overwhelmed them, their strength felt unnatural, their coordination uneven. They overthought every movement because they were still trying to move like humans. But Kaito… Kaito was already starting to trust his instincts. Asher folded his arms loosely over his chest, studying him with clear approval now. “You adjusted on instinct,” he explained. “That’s the part most people struggle with first. Your body is accepting the change faster than I expected. Which is a good thing” There was something quietly satisfying about that realization. Not because he intended to push kaito harder.. not yet anyway. Right now, what they were doing was basic. Extremely basic. The level of control exercises he usually used with younger wolves and children who had only recently begun learning how to handle their enhanced strength and speed safely. Simple reaction drills. Balance. Restraint. Awareness. And honestly? Asher was relieved that Kaito seemed to be learning quickly. Or enough, that he wouldn’t constantly risk hurting himself or others, accidentally. “Your shoulders gives you away when you’re moving before you do it.” Asher continued, slipping naturally back into instruction mode. “That’s why I could predict most of your direction changes.” A brief pause followed before another faint smile appeared. “But the last adjustment was good. You stopped thinking and reacted.” That was exactly what he wanted. Asher stepped back again, giving Kaito space. “Again,” he said simply. This time Asher moved first. Quick enough to pressure Kaito, but nowhere near his actual speed. He closed the distance rapidly before shifting sideways at the last second, watching carefully to see how Kaito reacted rather than trying to overpower him. Every movement Asher made was controlled and measured, intentionally scaled down. This wasn’t sparring. This was teaching. “Keep your balance centered,” he instructed as he moved around him in a loose circle. “Your strength is higher now, which means if your footing is wrong, your own momentum will work against you.” He demonstrated as he spoke, every shift of his weight smooth and effortless. “Relax your shoulders.” Another try. “Don’t brace before reacting.” Again. “Good.” The praise came naturally now whenever Kaito corrected something properly. Asher found himself increasingly pleased by how quickly Kaito adapted once given direction. He retained information almost immediately, adjusting faster with each attempt instead of repeating the same mistakes over and over. That alone put him ahead of many wolves Asher had trained before. And funny enough… Asher enjoyed teaching him. More than he expected to. Eventually, Kaito’s momentum carried him a little too far, making him loss balance and fall forward. Asher instinctively reached out, catching him by the forearm to steady him before he fell completely. His hand remained there for longer than necessary. Kaito's skin was sending sparks of electricity throughout his arm as he held him Asher became aware of the contact almost immediately and released him smoothly, clearing his throat lightly afterward. “…You’re learning fast,” he said, his voice quieter now but unmistakably sincere. “Honestly, faster than most beginners do.” There was clear approval in his expression as he looked at him. There was no point overdoing it on the first day. Especially not when Kaito’s senses were still adjusting to everything around him. “Alright,” Asher said, his tone easing slightly. “That’s enough for the moment.” The training grounds around them remained active in the background, distant sounds of drills and sparring carrying across the clearing, but Asher led Kaito a little farther away from the center where it was quieter. Near the edge of the grounds, an old fallen tree rested beneath the shade of towering pines, worn smooth from years of use. Asher motioned toward it. “Sit down.” Once Kaito had settled, Asher remained standing for a moment before eventually lowering himself onto the log across from him. His posture relaxed, forearms resting loosely against his knees. “Close your eyes,” he instructed calmly. “And stop focusing on everything around you.” His voice naturally lowered as he spoke, steadier here than it had been during the physical drills. “Your senses are sharper now, so your mind keeps trying to process every sound, every scent, every movement at once. But your wolf…” he paused briefly, choosing the wording carefully, “…she already knows how to exist with all of it.” Asher watched him quietly. “Center yourself first. Slow your breathing.” Another brief pause. “Then reach for her.” The faint breeze stirred through the trees around them, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth as Asher continued. “Don’t force it. Don’t command her either. Just… acknowledge her presence.” His expression softened slightly, almost thoughtful. “Greet her. Become familiar with how she feels.” For a few moments, Asher stayed quiet, allowing Kaito space to try without interruption. His gaze lingered on him thoughtfully. The connection between wolf and human varied from person to person. Some experienced it like a second voice. For a few, it almost felt like sharing space with another consciousness entirely. Asher himself had always felt his wolf, constant for as long back as he could remember. After some time passed, Asher finally spoke again. “There’s something important you need to understand early,” he said quietly. His tone shifted slightly more serious now. “You’re in control of yourself right now. Your thoughts. Your actions. But your wolf is still part of you.” His eyes remained fixed steadily on Kaito. “And if you become emotionally overwhelmed enough, she can forcefully take control.” Asher’s expression remained calm as he explained it, matter-of-fact rather than alarming. “It usually happens when new wolves lose emotional balance before they learn proper control.” He leaned back slightly, gaze drifting briefly toward the trees. “Your instincts prioritize survival before anything else. If your wolf thinks you’re in danger, she may act before you consciously choose to.” He had seen it happen before. Young wolves lashing out accidentally. Shifting under stress, hurting themselves or others because they panicked. Which was exactly why early control mattered so much. “But,” Asher continued after a moment, his tone easing slightly again, “that connection goes both ways.” He leaned back a little, resting one arm casually over his knee. “You can also allow her forward willingly.” His gaze flicked briefly toward the trees before returning to Kaito. “Not enough to lose yourself entirely. But enough for her to get her emotions and voice to come through you.” A faint trace of amusement touched his expression. "Some wolves are more talkative than others.” Then his features settled again, quieter now. “The reason I’m explaining this is because…” He paused briefly, choosing his words carefully. “I’d like to ask permission before doing something.” Asher held Kaito’s gaze steadily. “I want to speak with your wolf,” he said honestly. “But only If both of you are comfortable with it.” He looked at Kaito, quietly awaiting is answer patiently.
