Did you tell your parents about your yaoi hobby, and what was their reaction?

As far as my parents know, I don't even know what sex is. I'm of age, so it really doesn't matter. What my parents don't know, won't hurt them, right? Anyway, I've never told my parents anything about me liking yaoi. The only people who know are my friends from college and my closest friends I've known since elementary school.

I've got enough questionable-looking manga on my bookshelves that if they picked them up to leaf through they'd probably be quite confused, but I don't think they've ever looked. I attend an anime convention every year with BL and Yaoi panels, but they've never asked specifically what I do while I'm there so I've not needed to explain it.

 

I've got BL fanart around my room too, but it's surrounded by enough other art that they probably don't notice it. If they do, then they just don't care. It was a bigger concern for me when I was younger because I didn't have my own computer and I was more paranoid, but I don't really care now.

mm..my big brother knows that I love yaoi(but he did not know that I love hardcore or R18 stuff)..but suddenly he told mom that I love yaoi...haha then my brother explains what yaoi is and..she said: "what?! you'll become a lesbian..why are you reading that kind of thing?" and da-da-da...she asked me if i'm gay or a girl..haha XDD damn..but then she didn't care that I freaking love yaoi..hahaha

I don't know if it actually came up, or if mom put 2 and 2 together, since she knows I like anime, and that I'm gay, but yaoi never got mentioned, really. It's not something I'd hide, though.

You'd be surprised at what your parents will know or have guess but not mentioned because its embarrassing to talk about. I've never told my parents as such but I was reading Junjo Romantica in the living room and my mum asked what i was reading I said "Gay, romantic manga" (she knows what manga is)... Her reply "Is it any good?"

 

My parents are very accepting and to be fair my dad bought my mum a box of 30'ish Mills & Boon type books off ebay a couple of months back.

My mom would not have a clue and I am the one that got my adult kids involved.....well one of them...the other just shakes his head and sighs.....they once again have confirmed that mom is weird...but they knew that all along
