M-jow Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Julius sank into the seat beside Yukie, the cool m glass still in his hand. The music filled the room in gentle waves, and the soft glow of chandeliers reflected off the polished floor where couples drifted through slow turns. For a moment he simply sat there. The anger that had surged through him earlier was ebbing away, dissolving the closer he was to Yukie. What remained was a faint tightness in his chest and the quiet satisfaction that the situation had ended quickly. He lifted his glass and took a slow sip of the cider. Then Yukie asked then question. Julius gaze wandering across the hall rather than directly at Yukie. Not because he was avoiding the conversation. It had been such a small, unpleasant thing. Nothing special really. “Nothing dramatic,” Julius said calmly. His tone carried the faintest hint of dismissal, as though the matter had already lost its importance. “I asked for something without alcohol.” He rolled the stem of the glass lightly between his fingers. “The man behind the bar decided that was an opportunity to entertain himself.” Julius’s expression didn’t change much, but there was a brief tightening at the corner of his eyes. “He assumed I wasn’t old enough to drink. Said a few things that were… unnecessary. Julius exhaled slowly, letting the cool sweetness of the drink replace the last traces of heat in his chest. “I corrected the situation without making a scenen.” That was the simplest way to put it. He didn’t want to elaborate on the insults. Repeating them would only give them more weight than they deserved, and Julius had no intention of letting some stranger’s stupidity linger over the evening. His attention shifted to the dance floor again where the musicians had begun a slightly livelier piece. For a brief moment his expression softened. “I mostly just wanted the drinks.” He set his glass down on the table with quiet precision. “And I wanted to deal with it myself.” Julius finally glanced sideways toward Yukie then, the earlier tension gone from his posture. “I didn’t see the point in dragging you into it. I wasn’t in any danger, there are dumb people like that everywhere.” There was a faint note of honesty there. Julius had protected his pride, by handling the situation on his own. The hall buzzed gently with conversation and laughter around them, the earlier disturbance already forgotten by most of the guests. Julius leaned back in his chair, shoulders relaxed now. “Besides,” he added quietly, a small trace of dry humor returning to his voice, “if you had stepped in, I suspect the evening would have become far more memorable for the rest of the room.” He gently touched Yukie arm. Telling Yukie it wasn’t worthy to be bothered with. “And I’m fairly certain the organizers would prefer their furniture to remain intact.”
Yukonwolfspirit Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago “Ah, no destroying the furniture for fun?” Yukie whined with a small pout as he finished his drink a playful sulk on his face. “I was hoping to get away with at least ten tables destroyed by tonight. Absolute monster guest appearance for everyone.” Yukie teased as he took Julius’s hand just being playful with his wording as he could tell despite the glamour of the ball the tables would snap easily if he forced them. ”well then~ shall we dance?” Yukie asked standing up as he held out his hand to Julius allowing the night to only be about them, no worries over the whispering voices or cruel words saying mindless thoughts. “I want to hold you close again. Just for a bit longer.” Yukie added with a small blush as he stood in front of Julius. —————— “so…flying was fun.” Haru added as he knelt in front of a small fire pit trying again to ignite the dry kindling he had gathered. Haru was focused on his task but he was tiered, sore and bruised up. It had been a long lesson and eventually he had gotten the hang of flying, landing, the basics. Now was just basic survival and while he could have just used some demon magic to start the fire. Learning to live without demon magic would prove more useful. Eventually there was a small spark as he nursed the flame back to a giant fire having finally succeeded on his third try. “What did you do when you weren’t with mom. I mean I remember you just appearing…back when we came home for the final time. Where did you go? Did you travel?” Haru asked curiously as he warmed his hands a little by the small fire before adding wood to make it big enough to cook on. ————- “Feeling better?” Haruhi asked gently as he set down a sweet strawberry drink by Shan the man holding his own as he sipped it. “I hope you don’t explode. I would hate to clean you off the tree like one does in cartoons.” Haruhi added lightly as he was trying to tease Shan a little to hide his worry.
