Start:

Today was the day that Gareth would finally be able to see the world for himself. At the age of 25, that was when Sabbians (Sah- bee- en- s) were declared 'mature' enough to fly. Unfortunately, Gareth's birthday was three days after the event... So he was no old enough to participate last year. Now, he was one of the oldest that would be flying this year. On one hand that didn't bother him too much. What bothered him was the fact that many who were his age teased him because he was the only one who didn't get to go last year. After a Sabbian turned 25 they could then choose to participate in the flight event. Although after the first flight, many tend to stick around.

This event only came around once a year. It was purposely scheduled a whole day ahead of the rest of the world. So that when the dragons took flight, they would arrive when the festival on Traeh would start.

Gareth was just anxious. He was overall excited to venture out. Curiosity pulled at him and every night he wondered what the world looked like outside of Sabbas (Sah- ba- ss). As far as he was concerned, as well as the elders, he was destined to see the world anyway. Unlike his kin, his eyes were of crystal blue... While everyone else was that of stormy grey- all the way to that of the darkest black. At first, when he was little, other children would mock and poke fun at him for being different. But he could not help the way he was born. Gareth was an unhappy child, teen- well almost half of his life. A part of him cursed the fact that he was different while the other part of him felt happy to be unique... Gareth looked forward to the day he find out why he was born 'special'.

However as he got older, meaning, once he was around 15, he stopped caring about what others said or thought. As he got into his 20's he began to dream of the outside world. Sometimes he would sit on the edge, in the sand, staring out trying to see passed the fog. There were few days that he could fully see the horizon. If he was lucky, he could climb a tall tree and see even further, but that was definitely a rare occurrence. The volcano was the source of the fog that shrouded Sabbas. His people were so use to it, that they were not bothered by it.

All thoughts aside, Gareth felt uneasy about today and the rest of the night. He felt like his life would change somehow- If his eyes were anything to go by. From his knowledge his eyes were the same as the people of Quig (Kwig). So it was only natural that he was curious about Quig. He often wondered if his fate was somehow tied there...

The day started early for Gareth. Much preparations were dealt with. The people of Sabbas had a morning feast, so those who were flying could have strength for the great flight ahead of them. And it was at noon that Gareth stood in front of the elders, about to take off along with six others, three women and three men. He wasn't aiming for the grand prize. Gareth had no intentions of being first- despite the fact that he hated losing. No, the blue eyed male wanted to take his time to see the world. Going at a slow pace he should still be back either the day of or right after his birthday. In a sense, he supposed that he would come back a different man.

After the elders did their ceremonial 'goodbyes', each participant was given a necklace, which had been made the day before. The necklace had one scale on it, a scale that belonged to the participant. In other words, a scale from their dragon form. These necklaces were served as good luck charms. They are a reminder to stay strong, resilient, and to carry on. After the necklace is placed around his neck, permission to fly is thusly granted. Gareth took no time. He said his goodbyes and ran. Almost with haste, mostly out of excitement, Gareth easily transformed into a dragon. As soon as he saw a clearing, he took off.

The air of freedom felt so good going through his lungs. His wings flapped a little harder. Adrenaline coursed through him. He would follow the tradition, like the other dragons, and go in order. Dragons always headed for Vynnaus (Vin- ah- ss) and because of the distance, it usually took the rest of the day. By nightfall they would arrive.

Along the way, Gareth saw wondrous things. Giants in the sea, he presumed as Shalew (Sha-loo, whales). A sky so clear, he thought he was swimming. It was absolutely glorious. By the time he got to Vynnaus, however, he felt relieved. Traveling such a distance was very tiresome and required a lot of magic. The 7 of them ate like pigs that night and anxiously awaited the morning.

By the time the sun had risen, the dragon were already on their way to Traeh (Trah- eh). The festival was already starting in the early morning. Amongst the people, as a tradition, the people of Sabbas maintained their dragon forms for a whole day- and then some. Gareth knew that as soon as he would arrive, or from what he was told, the people would greet him. Offerings would be shared... And basically it would be a big party across each nation.

It was almost noon when they finally arrived. Out of all the dragons, Gareth didn't realize until now, he was apparently the scariest... So none of the children were coming to him. How strange it was to see people of many different cultures come to see his kin. Yet, even as an hour had past, no one dared to get to close to him. Oh, Gareth felt left out. They were located in the central city, where the big events were happening.

Don't worry Gareth. Just lay still. The people will come to you if you allow them. Marel (Mah- reh- l), one of the elder female dragons said, comforting him mentally. Each dragon could speak to one another.

Why won't they come near me? Gareth asked, his dragon form huffed out smoke.

Lay down Gareth. The children here are not familiar with you. As you are, you are probably scaring them. Marel was a white dragon, one that looked gentle, kind and sweet. Fiex (Fee-x), female, was a red dragon with curly horns on her head. Goran (Go- rah- n), male, was a small green dragon- about six feet tall. Klane (Kl- A- nn), male, was a light blue dragon that was covered in fluffy fur. Vin (Vine), male, was a lavender color, feathery wings. And then there was Gareth... All scales, he was mostly black with blue highlights on every sharp spike he had. His teeth were probably the sharpest. So yeah, he was the scariest. And Gareth was actually bummed that he wasn't getting attention. He did not wait a whole year just to be underappreciated...

Gareth let out a snort, which was actually a sigh and he did what he was told. The dragon just laid down and tucked his wings, trying to look as 'nice' as possible. After a minute, he snorted again, Are you sure this will work?

Marel's dragon seemed to smile at him, then nodded. So it looked like Gareth would have to wait it out.

Name : Sougon

Nickname: Sou (Typically only by his older sister)

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Occupation: None

Bio: Sougon was born on the continent of Quig where most of the people tend to be merchants in the creation of things like cloth, clothes, jewelry, magic items of all kinds, and other homey and extravagant items. (They do not produce food as they are not a farming continent.) Typically, these items are brought to Traeh where they are sold and trades off to the people.

The people of Quig typically have White hair (Sometimes with blue tips) and Blue eyes, however, Sougon does not. His hair is white with a blue tint in the bottom, but he has extremely dark grey eyes that look black unless inspected at very close range. The people here also have the power of gravity manipulation. They can increase or decrease the mount of gravity over an object or a given area. Each person has their own radius depending on age and strength but over all, the power is pretty straight forward. Being merchants, gravity manipulation is extremely helpful in lifting and moving heavy objects. They don't typically increase gravity for any reason except to stop criminals and if they lose their tempers which is fairly uncommon.

Sougon was raised by his older sister and his father ever since he was about ten. His mother had died of a strange accident that happened inside her workplace where she would help organize packages for certain merchants. No one knows why but a large crate fell from a higher shelf without anyone noticing and crushed her. There was no blame and people just said that it wasn't pushed far enough back on the shelf. His sister is 6 years older than him and extremely mature. Her powers for gravity manipulation developed faster than most while Sougon's didn't. Of course, his father believes it was his sister's fault because whenever he wanted to do something, she would do it for him and help out.

His father was an extremely successful merchant. However, he was unusually greedy and always looking for more and more money. He was one of the only merchants that traded and sold wine so of course, his clients were typically high class and willing to pay a high price for good wine. He'd even gone so far as to force his son Sougon into his business to keep it up and so that he may retire and never have to worry about losing money. Of course, his methods weren't always the most humane and he certainly had the worst temper in all of Quig. Because of this, Sougon's father would often lose control and had nearly crushed his own son using gravity manipulation. Thankfully, his sister was around to sing and help calm their father down or even use her own powers to fight back.

Eventually, Sougon got to developing his powers a few years after others his age and his sister went from babying him to mentoring him and helping him catch up. They had a close relationship but sometimes his sister would act too motherly and he'd tell her to knock it off.

When he was about 16, Sougon confronted his father head on and refused to be the merchant that he was. Besides, Sougon had more interest in magical weapons and their development than wine. Still, he preferred just to live his life and to go around exploring other countries without being tied down to a large carriage full of goods or just working in one place. Of course, Sougon's father wasn't thrilled and they had a terrible falling out where Sougon almost used his powers to take his father down for good. However, that was something his father would do so he in turn said, "I'd rather be kicked out of the country and treated as an outcast than to be like you when I grow up."

During festivals, Sougon would always travel to Traeh to have a good time and to watch the dragons of Sabbas race. He always wanted to be able to fly. While he probably could using his powers, it wouldn't be the same as having wings that could carry you anywhere. It was like the dragons of Sabbas didn't have to worry about the struggles of the other countries and could just enjoy their lives, though they probably had their own problems to deal with.

[PERSONALITY]

Sougon is a pretty laid back and open minded kind of guy. He loves to feel free is very kind and has a long fuse. There are few things that can really anger him and he just wants to be outside and exploring. While living in a major productions city of sorts, he wants to go out to the forests or travel uncharted areas and explore what has never been explored before. He also wishes that he could swim. He cares for others and wants to help just as his sister has helped him over the years.

[/hr]

It was the day before the huge festival in Traeh, so of course, Quig was in an uproar. It was one of the biggest times of the year for the merchants of Quig would would take advantage of the mass crowds to sell most of their items. The stalls had been set up ahead of time but today was the day to bring all the prepared goods over to Traeh to set them up so the festival could start early enough and no one had to worry about stalls not being set up in time for people to buy the items. While there wasn't much competition, any time lost was money lost.

Sougon was also very excited. He'd been to the festival many times before. At 20, it is custom for the people of Quig to run a stall that they could show off to the people and show how responsible they were. Sougon was no exception. At 20 he started running his father's stall. However, before the end of the day, his father took control again saying he wasn't doing good enough selling the wine his family monopolized. It wasn't Sougon's fault that he couldn't keep up with the thousands of companies and people that wanted the whine to celebrate the festival even though their wine was being sold and given out by others that held stalls in his father's name.

It didn't matter, after all, Sougon rather his freedom and to enjoy the festival, seeing all the countries he was forced to travel to from time to time all gathered in one place, mingling and getting along. The male would only travel in his father's stead to deliver crates of wine if his father was ill. Sougon loved to travel but hated being a merchant. He always said, "You can't see the world from a certain path. If you're going to travel, travel. If you're going to sell and leave, then do so. I want to travel!" He loved exploring and the farther from the road he could get, the more free he felt. After all, Sougon was only 23 and had seen nearly every major city that existed and lots of small towns. However, what he was most proud of were the places he saw alone, the places that had no destination, only trails of fun and unknown.

"Gray-eyed Pipsqueak!!!" Sougon turned to the female voice that called him. It was his elder sister. Her bright blue eyes shined in the light as she hurried over to him.

"You know I'm taller than you already don't you?" He replied with a smirk.

"By like 3 inches. I'm still your sister. Anyway, Dad needs you to help finish putting everything in the carriage. After, you can come with me and the Dewmons. We don't have to travel with Dad this year. They will take up provided I help them set up."

"Really?!" Sougon seemed almost too excited to hear that he didn't have to travel the long trip with his father but his sister and her friend's family instead.

With that in mind, Sougon ran off. These days, his sister was the only one that still made fun of his eye color. The people of Quig had blue eyes, his parents and sister included. However, Sougon was born with stormy gray nearly black eyes, the same color the dragons of Sabbas had. It certainly was strange and he never understood it. Lots of kids use to make fun of him and found him over all strange. The dark-eyed boy didn't want to be a merchant like everyone else, he wanted to just explore the unknown, his eyes were a different color, and his powers developed a lot later than anyone else... though that was more his sister's fault for spoiling him with her early and powerful powers. Many kept a certain distance from him in case his "Rebelliousness" was in some way contagious... Probably not. They didn't hate him but they didn't go out of their way most of the time to even talk or include him.

One of these days, Sougon would find out why his eyes were different from everyone else... Sabbas was one of the only countries he had never once visited and it was always shrouded in mystery. Eventually, he would go there, learn more about the dragons he admired and find the reason his eyes were nearly black with not an ounce of blue in them.

Anyway, Sougon sprinted to his father and helped him get all the wine in his carriage using his powers and then left before his father could say or do anything against him. The boy ran off and joined his sister who was getting in the carriage with her friend. He jumped straight onto it making the girls laugh and the father shake his head with a gentle smile. This was one family that Sougon got along with greatly and they knew his issues with his father and were always there to support him and his sister. Sougon sat in the back with the goods, the long silk clothing they made while the girls sat in the front of the carriage with the father. The family's mother was staying home to take care of the old grandmother and to watch the factories. Work couldn't just stop.

They sang and enjoyed themselves on their way to Traeh and before they knew it, they had arrived in the evening. His sister helped set the store up with her keen eye for coloring and sale technique. Even Sougon helped unload things. They finished in record time and went to the hotel they were all staying at together. It was easier than traveling back the next day.

The festival was in full bloom before noon and Sougon spent a little time getting food and checking out other sorts of shops before running off to see the dragons finish their flight in. They were so amazing, elegant creatures. They had such bright and vibrant colors.... Not all... One was a brilliant ebony that soaked up the sun and reflected a blue that reminded him of his sister's kind blue eyes. They landed nearby but enough of a distance that Sougon couldn't see them touch down. He tried to go see them but it took a long time to get over there thanks to the crowd.

Eventually, the dark-eyed boy made it as saw all the kids admiring all but the ebony one. Sure, he looked rough and covered in spiked and his dark scales were intimidating but Sougon didn't care. He was quite the beauty in his eyes.

"Those snorts probably aren't doing you any favors in getting those kids to like you," Sougon said to him as he stepped right in front of the creature. "May I?" He wondered as he reached his right hand out to touch the magnificent dragon. He loved seeing the dragons but this was Sougon's first time ever going up to actually touch one. But then, how could he resist?

Laying there was absolutely boring. Gareth was so bored out of his mind that he was actually falling asleep. He couldn't help that he was 'scary'... And it wasn't like he could turn into his normal self and tell everyone that he was generally a nice guy. Or at least tell them that he wouldn't eat them. He laid there and watched as no one would approach him. He started to notice that Marel was saving offerings instead of eating them... He had a hunch that she was going to share some of them with him. At one point he told her that it didn't matter. She didn't need to save him offerings...

Although... It was about a half an hour later that his stomach grumbled, and notably some people glanced over cautiously. Being in his dragon form cost energy and magic... Not having any offerings made him feel a little nauseous. He thought about napping in an attempt to ignore the feeling. Would it hurt if he left to go grab a bite? Should he stay? Some smoke escaped his nostrils as he asked Marel if he should leave to fetch food. It looked like she was going to offer him something when, in her dragon form, she tilted her head and said, "Seems you have a visitor."

And sure enough when Gareth's eyes glanced over, it appeared that a male was approaching him. "What do I do? Should I get up?" His dragon form snorted a reply quickly to Marel.

She simply replied, "Just stay still, dear. Let him come to you. I am sure you'll be fine.

And so, Gareth held still slightly surprised that someone would come to him and at the same time, happy and relieved. And what more? The guy seemed to be a little sarcastic. "You're telling me!" He wanted to say. Was it really that obvious that the children didn't like him..? But then again, the area around him was barron... As the male got closer, Gareth found himself awakening more, getting more tense too. This guy would be the first person to touch him and wasn't from Sabbas. Even more interesting... Gareth realized as the male got closer... His eyes... It was like he stole them- Or they had switched eyes. It was the strangest thing, oddly comforting too. As if this guy was from Sabbas- At least that's what Gareth saw when he looked at his eyes.

When the guy asked if he could touch him, Gareth let out a small snort, sending warm air out of his nostrils. He was trying to not scare the guy away. If he did, then no one would see him! Besides, maybe he could get this guy to bring him an offering? He moved his head forward to meet his hand, signaling that, yes, the male could touch him. As the man touched him, he felt relieved. Curiosity made him sniff the air, trying to figure out what the guy smelled like. This guy would show to everyone else that he was friendly. He could control himself. He could- Suddenly his stomach growled again, it was a low, subtle rumble. Gareth blinked and froze, mentally trying to tell the guy that he was hungry for food- not people! The dragon sighed, closing its eyes slowly, his tail swishing back and forth on the ground two times before stopping.

At the same time, he just appreciated the attention so he didn't want the person to leave. He didn't even care if this guy started to climb him. He was bored out of his mind! He could only hope this guy would entertain him, better yet, bring more people over... Maybe? He didn't know. As long as it wasn't a crowd. Gareth wasn't sure he could handle too many people...

The warmth that came from the dragon when he let out the snort was well received. Even the scales on his head were quite warm as he pressed his head against Sougon's hand. The male's dark eyes light up in an almost child like excitement as he began to stroke the dragon. Sougon started to scratch him gently and moved around to be able to inspect him some more. Sure, he was a dangerous dragon with all the sharp spikes, but he found that so long as they didn't stab him, they didn't actually hurt. The male was now just focusing on where it might feel best for him to scratch; The nose? The neck? Near the wing joints?

Sougon's fun was quickly interrupted as the dragon's stomach growled and he seemed to be trying to explain his hunger. Right, he should have brought offerings... With nothing to offer should he leave and come back? No, there were plenty of others around that had offerings to give. Maybe one of them would.... Though... they seemed scared of him.... What else could he do to help?

Just then an idea popped into his head and Sougon turned to the dragon. "Hope you're ready for more people. All you have to do is sit still for a second.... Also, I apologize in advance." That was all the dark-eyed boy said before he moved around and started to climb onto the dragon. It wasn't hard since Sougon was so use to climbing trees and everything so he got onto the dragon's back and walked out onto his neck just behind his head. The male was using his powers slightly to make himself extra light so it barely felt like he was touching the dragon. He then took a deep breath, cupped his hands together and spoke into them like a Microphone.

"HEY KIDS! LOOK AT THIS!" When the kids turned they seemed rather amazed that Sougon was on top of the terrifying creature. "Isn't he neat?! Look, He's not dangerous. This dragon is the big strong protector! He is the knight that protects his fellow dragons from the truly terrifying monsters that want to attack and eat their kids! This dragon is the guardian of his friends!!" The kids around looked completely amazed. Many flocked around wanting to see this great protector. "See, these spikes aren't even sharp if you don't touch the pointy part." Sougon stroked one of the spikes and showed that he didn't get cut. Of course, the kids ate up his "Hero" story and all wanted to touch the great guardian. Heck, before he knew what happened, Gareth was being surrounded by offerings and kids that wanted to pet him, saying they got to touch a real monster-slaying hero.

"See, kids love heroes so as long as you act like a hero, they'll forget you look like a terrifying villain," Sougon laughed quietly as he spoke directly to Gareth, sitting down so the kids wouldn't see him talking so much. "Look at that, you're even getting a special delivery."

Sure enough, a young kid, accompanied by their father walked over and held out a fruit almost as big as him. "Will you accept this Mr Hero?" the kid spoke slowly trying to make sure he got every word right before holding out the fruit for Gareth.

Sougon leaned on Gareth's head a bit as he sat on him until an older girl from Quig walked over. "Of course, I'd find you here. And of course, when I find you you're riding a dragon," The girl teased. Sougon just gave her a wide smile as she shook her head with a grin on herself. "Come on, I'm going to have a lunch break now, want to join me?" At Sougon's confusion she added, "I'm helping dad for a little while. His stall is as popular as ever." Her blue eyes shined in the light as she smiled and bowed respectfully to Gareth and left an offering for him.

The dark-eyed male got up and simply jumped right off landing gently on the ground like a feather. "I'll see you later, oh great hero," he said waving to Gareth before going to catch up with his sister.

Relief poured over him. How would he ever be able to thank this stranger? It was a big deal for him despite the male only doing something so minimal. Gareth let the stranger touch his scales, he even tilted his head slightly to watch the other male. The guy just looked so enthused, so entertained. As if meeting a dragon was something so spectacular. Gareth could only wonder why this man approached him instead of any of the other dragons. Oh well, Gareth decided he wouldn't complain about it. Company was good, no matter who it was. At least one person wasn't scared of him!

The strange male was allowed to pet him more, surprisingly he seemed to catch on to what he was trying to say about his hunger. It was probably obvious considering that there was nothing around him. Thankfully, the male had caught on... But he went about fixing the problem in a different way than what Gareth had anticipated. Never had anyone attempted to mount him before, so it was strange having someone climb fully onto him, up his neck... The man was oddly very lightweight. If the male hadn't called out to the children, Gareth almost had tilted his head back to see where the guy was- That probably would have sent the male flying backwards onto his back, worse, onto the ground.

What came out of his mouth though, very much surprised Gareth. While he didn't know a single thing about him, this guy was claiming that he was some 'hero'. It was a nice thought honestly. Surprisingly it worked like magic though. What a load of rubbish! The children actually bought that! Not that Gareth was complaining. Goodness that was easy! Wow. Before Gareth knew it, he found himself being admired by all kinds of kids, thanks to the male who was now sitting on him. The man was still very witty when he talked. I look like a villain? That's not nice... He huffed in his dragon form. No one understood him though...

And it was all thanks to the stranger that he got his first donation! The will it took to stay put and not grab the fruit from the kid was quite an effort. Holding still for such a long time with no food was driving him stir crazy. The dragon held strong though as he really didn't want to mess this up. When the kid finally offered the fruit to him, Gareth wanted to inwardly cry. He felt incredibly honored that he was getting an offering. It was more his stomach finally getting what it wanted that made him happy, but it was the thought that counted. So Gareth opened his mouth, exposing his sharp teeth. He heard several kids gasp out of fear and then promptly shut his mouth again. Oh man, he wasn't going to be able to eat anything with this kids around...

"It's okay, son, the dragon doesn't want to eat you. Remember what that gentleman said? The dragon is a hero, right? So it's only natural that this dragon would have sharp teeth. How else would he fight off the scary monsters, hmmn?" Said the father to his son. Several children seemed to be at ease after the man said that, which was a relief to Gareth. He thought he was going to have to wait until the festival was over to eat. Surely he would lose his mind if he had to wait that long! Thankfully this man had a way with words.

So the boy apologized and then asked again, much to Gareth's thankfulness. This time, Gareth did something different. Perhaps he shouldn't just open his mouth. So he shifted slightly, extending his dragon hand towards the child. Sure, his claws were sharp, but nowhere near as scary. Besides, his hand was falling asleep anyway. The child looked more comfortable giving it to him now. There! That's better. Gareth accepted the fruit happily and then tossed it into his own mouth. He swore he heard a couple kids exclaim how 'cool' it was that he did that. Some ran off to get more food, just so they could try. The fruit on the other hand was something he had never eaten before. This fruit didn't exist at home...

Gareth thought he handled that pretty well.

A couple of minutes later, a woman came along and started to talk to the guy- Oh yeah... Gareth forgot about him. He was still sitting on him! She was apparently not surprised that the male was sitting on him. Perhaps this was a normal situation for him? And by listening, it would seem that they were siblings, due to the fact that she said 'dad'. Gareth was somewhat eavesdropping but what else was there to do. Half of this kids were too awed at his appearance to talk to him, let alone understand him. Not that this guy understood him either... But he managed to get people over here... So it was something, wasn't it? The dragon watched as the male landed in front of him, effortlessly, waved him goodbye and then was on his way. "Thanks, stranger." Gareth's dragon huffed out smoke from its nostrils.

After the guy left things seemed to go smoothly, although over time Gareth was beginning to feel more and more uncomfortable. Mostly because he had been in his dragon form all day. Hours somehow passed, dragging on slower and slower... As the festival dragged on, eventually the kids were taken by their parents because it was their bedtime. There were few hours of the day left and Gareth just wanted rest. He was covered in flowers, fetti, and other decorative items and paint. He was full, no, stuffed by now. He couldn't eat anymore. So he was able to have some offerings left over to take home. Some people brought baskets that could be strapped onto him, so that he could carry his food home. How generous.

Now it was as what he would call, the 'adult' party... Where thankfully, he would be able to leave soon.

Sougon was thrilled that he could be of help to the blue-highlighted dragon. He was nearly dismounted when being offered the fruit as he had to use a paw instead of just his mouth. Though, it wasn't too hard to hold on and prevent from falling. The male even stuck around until his sister came to get him for lunch. In all honesty, Sougon was sad to leave. His admiration for the dragons knew no bounds and he was finally perched up on top of one with no objection. How could he pass that up? However, his love and respect for his sister had him jumping down and heading off with her, wishing the dragon farewell.

His Sister seemed surprised by the fact that he had chosen the black dragon and wondered if it was because of his eyes. Sougon replied with, "Actually, Atsuya, it was because of your eyes. When the dragon flew over head the blue highlights that covered it reminded me of your kind eyes. Besides, he looked lonely and no one sporting such a gentle blue could be all that bad."

"Doesn't dad have blue eyes?" his sister Atsuya teased.

"His are a darker blue that it more like the deep ocean, where it is cold and life just hardly exists. Yours are a lighter color that is the same of the waters in the tropical areas," He quickly explained. His sister seemed to understand exactly what he meant and shoulder bumped him slightly in a form of retaliation for claiming their father was cold... even though it was incredibly true...

The two had a great lunch talking about how they were enjoying their time at the festival. Sougon explained what he did with the lonely dragon and some amazing fried squid he had. Atsuya talked about how her and her friend walked all around and met some boys that bought them sweets. The boys also wanted to take them out for more fun but the girls played hard to get while still wanting to go out and have a good time and just enjoy the festival. The girls didn't want to be tied down with the boys taking them away from the fun. Still, after hearing all this Sougon was a little irritated that the boys didn't just take them to see the dragons or the fires or something but instead tried to take them away completely. How dumb. Anyway, he let it go and just moved on.

The two finished eating and walked around together to check out some more thing and to buy a few souvenirs. They each bought a mask as a kind of tradition and went on wearing them for the rest of the day, typically keeping them just on the side of the head rather than covering the face. Sougon also bought a charm that he kept hidden from his sister. Atsuya met up with her friends once again and Sougon went off on his own. He turned righting around and returned to the dragons. It was late and the night activities for adults only were about to start. He wasn't really into it. Instead, Sougon wanted to meet up with that dark dragon again to see how everything turned out. When he made it, he was happy to see the creature turning some food down due to being over stuffed.

"It seems things worked out," The dark-eyed male said. "Are you allowed to change into your human form? I'm not leaving until tomorrow morning, want to stick around until then?" He asked as Sougon stood before the dragon. He knew he couldn't understand the dragon words or language and so, he made sure to ask mostly yes or no questions.

The male from Quig shifted his wolf's mask a little more off his face so it only covered one eye instead of half his face. "I also bought you something," Sougon said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the charm. It was a kind of good luck charm for good health and strength in his life. "I want you to always be able to fly back here," He said and walked over to tie the charm properly to the dragon's left horn and made sure it was secure even for a long flight. Sougon stepped back then to admire it. The charm looked good on him. Heck the blue matched just right. "I'm not even sure if you're into that kind of thing, sorry if I was a bit bold or over zealous," he quickly explained.

Gareth found himself dozing off again by the time someone approached him again. But of course it was the stranger from earlier. He seems to have collected a mask while out and about. He had been laying on his side for a while, so he shifted as the male approached him. He also noticed how Gareth had collected offerings and now was stuffed full. The dragon was wide awake once the other male started to talk. This man was certainly bold and full of surprises. As far as he knew... He wasn't technically allowed to show people his human form. Not at least until after the ritual was complete. On top of that, he was sure he wasn't allowed to talk to people either. So as much as he'd like to humor the guy... He... Well... Couldn't.

Glancing over at Marel, who was distracted, he tried to judge if he should ask her first... Or just indulge the male secretly. It would be breaking tradition if he talked to the stranger... And he wasn't quite sure if that was something he wanted to do. But wait- The guy was getting closer. He got something for him? That was... Nice? Strange? Very bold. Even humorous- No, amusing? Gareth let the male tie whatever it was onto his horn. He was already decorated enough, but he supposed one more thing wouldn't hurt. Making a snorting sound again he was trying to say that he was okay with it. Honestly, if he really didn't like it, he could just toss it. He wouldn't know until later.

For some reason, the strangers questions surprised him. Nobody really talked to the dragons as if they were people. Everyone talked to them as they were seen, dragons. So for the guy to openly ask about his human form almost seemed scandalous. This guy really wanted to meet him? There was nothing special about Gareth... Other than his eyes being a different color... But then again, that might have been why he was so intrigued by the mystery man. He had different eyes too. Communicating with him... Didn't seem all that bad... Gareth was extremely curious anyway.

As for the stranger's questions... Gareth paused in thought. Let's see the pro's and con's. Some negatives include: getting caught, possibly getting in trouble, and being sent home. Some positives: he might make a friend, learn more about the culture, see more of the outside world... What would happen if he got caught, though? Worse case scenario they send him home. Gareth thought it would definitely be unreasonable for them to ban him. As far as he knew, there were no punishments... So... If he didn't get caught, then it should be okay, right? Sure. So Gareth shifted slightly, facing away from Marel and more towards the other male. He reached out and dug his claw into the dirt. This should be less noticeable. He could always erase it. First off, if this guy wanted to talk to him, he felt that he should at least have the decency to know the other male's name. He wrote: 'Name?'

In return, he wrote three other things. A 'N' for "No" and a 'Y' for "Yes". Lastly he wrote: 'Gareth'. There. Gareth was going to humor the guy's questions. He tapped the 'N' twice for the first two questions the stranger asked. He was not allowed to be in his human form in front of everyone at the ceremony, that he did know. This was a test of willpower, strength, and magic abilities. He also could not stay, sadly, he had to complete the ritual. So while the male was here, he would at least talk- somewhat. He wouldn't be able to ask as many questions... But perhaps he could answer some. The dragon looked at the other male with interest.

It was rather easy for Sougon to notice that this may not be the proper thing. The dragon seemed concerned about doing this. The way he looked over to the female dragon next to him, who was quite opposite in color and attempted to try and talk to her, it just said that the black dragon wanted to make sure he was in the clear to do something like this. Maybe Sougon shouldn't have forced it since it could get them both in trouble. Though, the female wasn't paying attention so Gareth turned again to Sougon to try and communicate.

The dark-eyed male watched as the dragon etched a few marks into the ground. Name?... No... Yes... Gareth...? Wait what did Gareth-...! "So your name is Gareth!" Sougon said excitedly. He then watched as the dragon communicated and answered his questions. He figured turning to his human form and sticking around was impossible. Oh well. "Also, my name is Sougon, it's a pleasure to meet you Gareth." The dark-eyed elf smiled brightly feeling as though he finally made a friend.. though it was strange since most would reject him to some extent for his dark eyes... Some of the other countries believed he was possessed by the devil or something. How ridiculous. What did that have to say about the people of Sabbas?! Though, it being normal there they probably didn't have anything to say about it. They only said it because it wasn't normal for the people of Quig, and everyone else in his family shared the blue eyes, including his mother who had passed.

"Ok, next question. Will you come and visit Quig one day? If you can't change into human form, you should come by and transform. It's a bit strange to have visitors but some do come to custom order certain things they wish to be brought to their country or whatever." Sougon quickly explained their policies a little... or at least the usual. After that, Sougon seemed to get really quiet for a while.

The dark-eyed male stood there for a long while just looking Gareth over. There was something different about him... something beyond what was there on the surface of his dragon form. "You're different aren't you? I mean, beyond the black scales and spiky body. You're different from the others of Sabbas, aren't you?" Sougon couldn't quite figure it out, heck he didn't even know why he went about ignoring the other dragons and just focused on this one. Sure, he had told his sister earlier that it was because of the blue highlights reminding him of her but there was something else... Something more. What was it that was eating away at him so much? Something about this dragon that reminded him of.... well himself...

"Sorry, I just can't wrap my head around it so sorry if I said something weird... Did you have a good time here? Is this your first festival?" Duh... that last question was obvious.. No one from Sabbas ever came in human form and Sougon knew every dragon that flew to these festivals over the past couple years anyway. He'd never gone to meet them but after seeing them fly over, he never once forgot one. Maybe it was his great admiration for the creatures but it certainly made sure that he never forgot any of them, even if they only flew over once.

"Sabbas is one of the only countries I've never traveled to... What's it like?... Sorry, that's not a yes or no..... Is it covered in trees beyond that fog? Is it barren because the sun does not reach the land? Does Sabbas actually have a volcano that is causing all the fog? I heard rumors that that's the reason it is always foggy." Maybe he should slow down... What if Gareth couldn't keep up with all his rapid fire questioning... Even if he could, was Sougon even getting any of the answers?

Woah, never had Gareth seen someone light up just by learning someone's name before... Let alone his! When the stranger had said his name for the first time it both startled and somehow comforted him. He didn't expect the guy to nearly shout his name! His physical reaction to having his name called was that he stiffened up for a moment as a new sensation flooded him. The dragon sniffed the air again, smelling the male in front of him. There had to be something strange about this guy... For him to feel this way. Was this some kind of magic? It was impossible to describe the sensation. It was like he was more... docile? Gareth was lucky to have been paying attention, he had almost missed the guy's name... Sougon.

Ah- There it was again, not as strong this time. The only other physical sign he sowed, mostly without realizing it, was that his eyes had dilated every time Sougon said his name. This feeling didn't happen when others called out to him from Sabbas... Maybe it was because this is the first stranger not from Sabbas, and who actually said his name. Gareth couldn't really think about it for much longer as Sougon clearly wanted to move on. Curiosity was evident on the male's face. Ah, of course he was going to visit Quig, but Sougon probably didn't know that... So he quickly pointed at the 'Y' of Yes, before drawing a few more things on the ground. He wrote a '1...' because in 1 day, he would more than likely arrive at Quig Then drew an 'x', as in, here he was, followed by a circle. He was trying to tell Sougon that he would be going the traditional route, going to every continent. Although he did point at the 'N' because he couldn't stay long. He had to finish the ritual... Then maybe he could return. But it wasn't like he could verbally tell Sougon. A part of him felt like the male would somehow understand all of this anyway.

Then Sougon startled him again. No, not startled... Surprised him? What an odd thing to say to a stranger that you've just met! He was different? Well, Sougon wasn't wrong... It was just how he suddenly claimed his difference... Was... How to explain it... It was like Sougon knew. Oddly enough, he was getting the same vibes from Sougon. He was a little strange too. Gareth didn't bother answering the question. He merely laid his head down on the ground, looking at Sougon the whole time. That was another thing that must have been obvious... Considering that a guy he barely knew was able to pick up on it. Then again, just looking at him, compared to the other dragons... They all seemed friendly, with black eyes... Then there was him, decorated as a beast but with pretty blue eyes. He stuck out like a sore thumb.

Sougon seemed awfully apologetic and Gareth was picking up on that. Surely there was nothing to worry about, right? It wasn't like he was going to eat him or something. However, Gareth hadn't the slightest clue of how he should go about telling Sougon that it was okay. He would be fine. What Sougon said did strike him as odd but... It made sense to him. He wasn't even offended in the least. Although he, as the dragon shrugged at the first question. He had an okay time here... Gareth recently learned that crowds were not necessarily his favorite thing. But he did point at the 'Y', yeah it was his first festival... This was the first year that he was actually old enough to participate... And to think, his birthday would be 3 days from now.

Boy, this guy sure had a lot to ask. Certainly didn't wait for Gareth to respond, anyway. For some reason, Gareth felt that he would be able to tell Sougon in person... And that made him feel slightly uncomfortable. How would he know such a thing? Well, he didn't... He just had a feeling... Then suddenly, he felt something tap him on the side. When he turned his head, he saw Marel... If felt like he had been snapped out of some kind of trance... Oh wait-! She might see his etchings- Huh..? When Gareth turned his head back to Sougon... A peculiar thing had happened... Sougon was still in the same spot... But there was no writing on the ground. Nothing. It was like they never even talked.... How strange..? What happened?

"I've been calling out for you for a while now, are you okay?" She asked, even though there was a twinkle in her eye that said she already knew what happened.

How did he not hear her? Let alone see her coming? Sougon didn't notice her either... "I was just... Listening to this guy ramble on. He seems to have a fascination with our kind." He replied.

"So it would seem..." Was all Marel said on the topic. She didn't appear to have noticed anything out of the ordinary. Marel didn't show any signs that she knew anything... However, Gareth could tell that she would talk to him about his experience once they were out of human eye sight. "Say goodbye to your friend Gareth... You have to finish the ritual, this might be the last time you see him. We're leaving now. It's already getting late. " With that, Marel turned to gather her things. So Gareth had a short amount of time to get ready also.

The dragon slowly got up and stretched. He huffed out smoke from his nostrils, telling Sougon it was his time to go... And sorry that the conversation got cut short... This was probably goodbye, for good. Maybe someday they'll meet again.

"Are your eyes actually blue?" Sougon asked a little more quietly before the two were suddenly pulled out of their conversation.... That's strange... the markings on the ground vanished and the female dragon... was she standing there the whole time? What was that? Had the two of them been in some kind of trance just now? Sougon clearly didn't understand what was going on. Heck, he seemed just as clueless as Gareth had. Shaking it out of his head, the elf tried to just smile it off even though he could see the two dragons were in some way communicating.

"Leaving already? Well I look forward to seeing you guys again. Hope it's before next year!" Sougon smiled brightly and waved goodbye as he watched Gareth get to his feet and stretch. He wanted to understand what had happened to them... It almost felt like lost time but weren't they just talking? There was no way that was a dream... Gareth... Sougon knew the dragon's name so some part of the conversation just had to be real... but what? Reality seemed to just melt away for that moment... Damn... it almost felt like what his sister had described as "True Love" when you lose track of time when you look into the eyes of the one you truly love.... There was no way that could be... could it? No, Sougon though he might be into guys but the chance of Gareth also being into them was slim... Besides... the dark-eyed male still wasn't sure about it himself.

Sougon wanted to be able to meet again, but maybe when they could talk normally instead. "Good bye, Dragons of Sabbas." The elf bowed respectfully before truly saying his last good bye and stepping back. He still had time and wanted to watch the majestic creatures take flight and finish their tradition. Once they had flown well out of sight, Sougon turned to go and try to find his sister. She was probably drinking with some or her friends... she was of age after all. Besides, he might just get in trouble or being out during adult time.

While Sougon was an adult on Quig, the rules on Traeh were a little more strict and he had to be 25 to stay up during there hours. He better forget about finding his sister and just return to the hotel room. Too bad he couldn't have gone back with Gareth... That would have been nice. What was he thinking?! STOP IT!!! Sougon took off running trying to clear his head and get back to the hotel room.

He got lost on his way due to how distracted he was and that was about to get him in trouble. Some of the Traeh patrol were walking closer and if Sougon got spotted, he'd be in big trouble. Panicking, he tried to hide but there was no where to go on this street. Just as the patrol came, they ended up walking right past and didn't see the elf as he suddenly used his powers to get above their heads. The dark-eyed male was nearly a hundred feet in the air now breathing heavily from the fear of being caught. When the danger passed, he had to cover his mouth to prevent the outburst of laughter. Sougon realized he was being a trouble maker and couldn't resist enjoying himself a little.

He used his power to help him get to the hotel where he finally landed in front of the building and walked in. His sister was there in the tavern below the inn enjoying a few simply drinks with her girl friends, some he'd never met before. Must have met them today, after all, some weren't from Quig. Sougon smiled before heading up to his room. He found it completely empty and flopped onto his bed and stared at the ceiling. Now, he could finally think properly about what had happened to him earlier... It felt like a dream but he knew he was awake the whole time.

Who knows how long Sougon had been thinking about it as he suddenly woke up to the sound of his sister coming in. She was quite drunk. She shouted for everyone to be quiet even though she was the loudest. Quigs knew how to drink, that's for sure. The women could hold their liquor better than the men but that just meant they drank more. Sougon smiled and got up to help his sister get to bed. He made sure she changed and drank a good amount of water before going straight to bed. He then laid down and dosed off again.

What was strange was that night, Sougon dreamed he was flying... Not the same type of flying as when he was using his powers but he felt almost like a dragon. The word spread out around him as he moved across the dark sky, the moon guiding him. It felt so real even though Sougon knew it had to be a dream. Maybe his obsession to fly like the dragons was really getting to him. He tried not to think about it but it was the most amazing dream he ever had. "Can't wait to tell Gareth," He whispered to himself. Wait... did he just? Why would he want to tell Gareth? What was happening to him?!

Gareth looked over his shoulder once more before he left Sougon. Maybe one day he'd see the guy again. With that last lingering thought, he followed the other dragons and they took off not too long after. Now, it was a small flight to the edge of the continent. They technically had one more trial to face before they could freely roam the rest of Ethra. As soon as they found a remote place, just along the coast of Traeh, each dragon revealed their human forms. All of them were exhausted from the exertion of magic. As the ritual goes, they had the option of resting here before leaving to whatever destination they chose. Be it traditional or otherwise, the dragons would be set free to go wherever after they got something the country of Leehix (Lee- h- ix). Basically, the goal was to bring something home, anything like grass, food, clothing and so forth from each country. It is the proof each dragon will need to pass the ritual.

Upon landing, Gareth switch immediately into his human form and then fell over into the sand. It felt amazing to be human again. Yes, everyone else was exhausted too, but they had only about an hour before they had to take flight again. So they were to rest up while they could. Of course, Marel told everyone that they should sleep and rest... But he couldn't Gareth sat next to the shore, looking at the moon fully for the first time. Today had been the first time he had seen the sun fully... Although he was in his dragon form. He wondered how it would be if he was in his human form. Gareth found himself daydreaming about it, his curiosity just kept growing.

His curiosity also pulled toward that guy he met earlier. Sougon seemed to be very happy while in his presence... Yet Gareth thought it was because he was a dragon. In general the guy seemed to be overall enthusiastic about being around dragons. And then there was that bizarre mystery... He couldn't explain the conversation he had with Sougon, it didn't make any sense- "You're thinking about that boy, aren't you Gareth?" A voice called out beside him. He hadn't noticed that Marel had walked up to him. She could always read him like a book, couldn't she? The elderly woman had black hair that was showing some grey due to age. She had pale skin like Gareth, due to the fact that they are never fully exposed to the sun. She literally was the definition of a sweet granny. It seemed like everyone else was asleep...

"Yeah..." He said softly. Gareth really didn't know what to say, he feared that he was about to get in trouble.

However, Marel placed her hand on his shoulder as she sat down next to him in the sand. "Gareth... You talked to him didn't you?" She asked with a faint smile and it confused Gareth. "Do not worry about it too much, dear. Few dragons are able to do what you did. Besides, all the elders know your destiny lays beyond Sabbas, though you are always welcomed home."

Gareth felt like the elder was trying to tell him goodbye and that just made him feel... Sad. "Why are you telling me this, Ma'?" He called her nickname.

"We can all see it in your eyes, dear, obviously. You were meant to see greater things. I could tell today... When that boy talked to you, I could see it. You've already established a deep connection with him. Deny all you want, but you will come into terms with it. I may be old, but I could see his eyes, too. Seems like fate brought you two together for a reason." Marel said softly, looking up at the moon. Marel sighed softly, looked over at Gareth and her eyes narrowed with interest. She reached over towards Gareth's neck and pulled on a pretty blue charm. When he transformed, he had put it around his neck, figuring that it would be safer there. "Did that boy give you this?" Gareth nodded and she smiled more, "How precious..."

"So you could see what I wrote?" Gareth asked, somewhat surprised because he didn't see it when he left.

Marel looked at Gareth in surprise, "No... I did not see anything." She seemed to be surprised by what Gareth said. "So you've already bonded with the boy..? Goodness Gareth." This was obviously much more serious now, for some reason that Gareth didn't understand. "What..." She seemed hesitant to ask, "What is his name?"

"Sougon." Gareth said quietly, wondering what was Marel talking about. "What's the matter with that?"

The elder looked at him, smiling softly as she said, "Fate has wondrous things in store for you, Gareth. So it would seem that you've established a telepathic mental link with that boy you met today, Sougon. I've only seen this occur once before when I was a little girl. From what I know, you'll experience some kind of deeper connection with him, more than likely. The fact that you were able to telepathically talk to him with ease and no experience... On top of that, you're first contact with him. That's very impressive Gareth. Think of your newfound ability..." She hummed in thought for a moment as she tried to explain Gareth's strange power. "It's like being in your own world, isn't it? Tell me what it felt like, dear."

Well... Gareth hesitated. He was both... Excited that he had some cool power... and confused as to why it worked only with Sougon. "Yeah... I guess that's how you could explain it. I thought it was kind of interesting that I met someone who has different eyes like me. It was like... We stole each other's eyes... And when we talked, I guess you could say that I felt some connection with him. Although, to be honest, I didn't know I was telepathically talking to him." He said, eyes scanning the horizon, seeing mostly stars.

"That's because it should be effortless. What are your thoughts about it now that you know, child?" Marel commented, "Please continue..." She was clearly interested to what Gareth had to say.

"Uh, well..." He had never seen Marel so intrigued before.. But then again, this is how he was whenever they talked about the foreign countries together. "He asked me a lot of questions... Sougon was very curious about Sabbas. He wanted to know everything." To which Marel chuckled because that was exactly how Gareth was when the elders started to talk about the other lands. "Sougon was very excited to learn my name. It was kind of embarrassing, honestly, I didn't expect him to react in such a way. I suppose he caught me off guard. He also asked if I was going to visit Quig and expressed interest in seeing me in my human form. I don't know why he'd want to see me..."

"Gareth, don't lie to yourself." Marel tutted, pushing lightly on his shoulder. He looked over at her in more confusion, although something inside of him knew exactly what she was going to say. "Your fates are meant to cross. Don't you dare lie and say you do not wish to meet that boy. You and I both know he'd be very happy to see you." And Gareth was about to argue with her, it was against the ritual to do such a thing! "Ah, ah, don't look at me like that, boy. I know what you are thinking. You're allowed to be curious, you know... Besides, no one will know if you visit him unless you tell someone." Marel said with a wink. Gareth's mouth opened in shock. Did he just hear that right? Marel was actually encouraging him to break the ritual!

Yet, he felt somewhat satisfied with what she said. Though he felt that he shouldn't be tempted... But Marel was right, he couldn't deny that he was curious... And his curiosity wasn't going to let him pass up the opportunity so easy... Maybe if he had time... Before going home, when he stopped at Quig, just maybe he would take a day to find Sougon? Maybe..? But of course he'd have to haul ass back to Sabbas, stopping at the rest of the continents on the way home. He didn't know, his heart and mind were being tugged in two directions... His heart wanted to see Sougon, just to see... While his mind said no, he should wait until after the ritual because then it wouldn't matter. "I don't know Marel..."

The elder just smiled, leaning closer and pulled him into a hug. "Let your mind be at ease, Gareth. You needn't make up your mind yet. There is always time... So how about you rest for the small time we have left? We have to fly to Leehix, where I'll let you children free to explore the rest of the lands on your own." Gareth sighed softly, wrapping his arms around the elder. They ended up staying like that for a while before Marel told him to sleep a little. Reluctantly, Gareth rest for the remainder of the time.

The blue eyed male found himself awoken by Marel some time later. Everyone else was already awake. It was dark now... And it was time to fly. So they took off. While every one of them was still exhausted, it felt wonderful to fly again. The moon shined so bright tonight, it guided them on their journey towards Leehix. Only a couple hours passed before they arrived. It had been so dark, they couldn't see anything but the dark waters and the twinkling sky above them. Gareth thought it was pretty though. He couldn't wait to fly again. Once they landed Marel stood before them all. "Now all, as you know, this is where your journey begins. You all know the rules and what you have to do. You can choose to stay in Leehix tonight or travel on to whichever continent you like. Go in any order you please. There's only one grand prize, if that's what you're aiming for. I'll be heading back to Sabbas in the morning. So... With that being said, those who want to leave may do so, and those who'd like to stay are more than welcome to rest for a night as there is a long journey for all of you ahead."

In the end, Gareth chose to stay because he wanted to go to Jyufir next and that was almost half a day's journey, it was about a day's journey to Sabbas from here.

The neck morning finally came around and as always, Sougon woke before the sun had risen. There was a soft glow of light coming from the sky and the sun was just beyond just waiting to jump and poke its head. "Come on, get up!!!" He chucked a pillow at his sleeping sister who jumped up immediately after being smacked. She sat up rambling on about being awake with her hair everywhere and drool covering the side of her mouth and her cheek. Sougon couldn't help but snicker at the girl before getting up and getting ready. She almost dozed off again but the younger male kept her awake and they got ready.

The two rushed out about 20 minutes later and hurried to help their father. Being a successful merchant like him, he didn't end up bringing many goods home. He sold basically everything he had with the exception of a couple bottles. That's alright, he'd find someone else to buy them off his hands. Sougon and his sister helped move the empty crates back and to take down and move a bunch of things from the festival before heading home. They went back with their father this time who was in a good enough mood after the festival that he didn't say much of anything or annoy or anger his kids. He just went about his business and they went about theirs.

Once again, it took a long time to travel back home but in a way, it was nice to be back. As much as Sougon wanted to be out in the world, sometimes it might be best to just go home for a little while. Besides, something was telling him that something great was going to happen on Quig soon. He didn't know what or when but that it was going to be great. No one else seemed feel it because they went about their day as usual while Sougon had an unusual pep in his step as he sprung about helping everyone he could spot.

The dark-eyed male only got some time off by late evening when he was feeling rather worn out. He slipped out the window of his room and sat on the roof for a while. It was a nice play to try and get away for a little while. Sure, someone could find him if they were looking but that wasn't the point. There was something relaxing about being up there. It also had a wonderful view of the sky that he loved so much. Sougon stared up for a long time before his need to move around won him over and the male decided to go for a walk.

For a while he jumped from roof top to roof top. They were fairly spaced out but an easy jump from someone who had enough gravity control as Sougon. He jumped around and around until he got down and decided to go the the woods. He loved climbing trees ever since he was little before he could even use his magic. After all, his magic developed later allowing for more time to explore himself before falling into line with everyone else... But he never did fall in line did he? Heck, he wasn't just a little different from the others... he was very different. His eyes, personality, his life style. Everything there was that made Sougon who he was, was different from every other resident of Quig, including his sister who was willing to take over the family business.

As he made his way to the woods, Sougon started to think about Gareth all over again. Man, he hadn't been able to get that dragon out of his head.... Now though, his brain was racing wondering what Gareth looked like as a human. He probably had dark hair like every other Sabbas resident but his eyes would be bright blue... Were they dark or were they lighter? Was he tall? Taller than Sougon or was he shorter?!

Who knows how long these thoughts went on for. Sougon lost track of time and was already in the woods when he pulled his head out of his fantasies. He went searching for a new tree to climb but his thoughts drifted to Gareth all over again. There really was no stopping it.... but then, did the elf really want it to stop? He loved how it felt to think about the dragon... How amazing that dream was the other night of him flying. That was something really special....

It was the morning when Gareth knew that his adventure could finally begin. It was also in the morning when he hugged Marel goodbye. He held the elder longer than he had anyone else who was there that morning. She kissed his cheek and wished him all the luck. Parting ways was somewhat difficult, surprisingly for him. While he knew that he would return home, he couldn't help but to miss Marel, she wasn't his real grandmother, but he sure adored her as if she was. Gareth, like the others, had a small bag that they lugged around to collect things from each country. Gareth personally picked out leaves, nuts and acorns from different trees. He also found other seeds. He decided that he would try and plant some seeds when he got back to Sabbas. So that was what he was collecting from each country. Sure, he could get anything, even a rock, but Gareth had higher ambitions. Taking off was easier after a whole night's rest. Off to Jyufir!

Jyufir was nice and all, and sure, Gareth saw some people who openly gawked at him but he felt like he was in a hurry. Yeah he was a little tired from yesterday, and now his flight. However, Gareth decided he wouldn't stay here for the night. No, Gareth wanted to see if he could make it to Quig today instead of tomorrow. He was going to challenge himself to make it there early... So that possibly, he might meet up with Sougon... Although that was a steep challenge... Quig was a country after all. Just how would he find him? Gareth had no idea... But somewhere, deep inside of him, he thought he knew the answer. Guess he'd have to wait and see.

The sun was setting by the time Gareth could see Quig in the distance... But that wasn't the problem. For the last five minutes a dark cloud has been hovering over him and it seemed to grow bigger and bigger with each passing minute. He almost had no clue where it came from. All he knew was it was about to rain and he also knew that he should probably land soon. He didn't want to get caught in the rain. So Gareth flapped his wings a little harder. By the time he reached Quig, he could feel tiny droplets sprinkling his scales. He wasn't too worried because he knew he could land... As long as he got to the ground soon, he'd be fine! More importantly, he wanted to land in the darkest part of the forest, along with a feeling like he should go in this particular direction. He was sure, with the looming clouds the people below wouldn't be able to see him land, let alone see him due to his black scales. Gareth didn't want to get caught in his human form while he waited for the storm to pass.

It was when Gareth thought he found the right place to land that everything seemed to slow down... One second he was in the air, the next- Boom! Gareth was blinded, a something sharp struck through his entire body. A roar of pain could be heard. Then before Gareth could move or do anything about it, the trees were suddenly coming at him- left and right. Internally, Gareth just hung on or as long as he could. His dragon form could handle this fall a lot better than his human form could- But then he felt something impaled his skin. Gareth didn't even have the chance to roar in pain as suddenly and finally, the ground came to him. The dragon hit the ground hard and for a moment, he didn't move at all. The dragon's breaths were heavy. A big gash was formed across his back, a branch still lodged into his skin.

A low groan escaped the dragon. Gareth tried to calm himself, breathing harder while trying to keep his eyes open. Was it over? No trees were going to fall on him? Okay... Gareth didn't even care in the moment, he transformed back into his human form. He tried to get up off the ground but it hurt to move. Blood was going to start pooling around him if he didn't find a way to heal himself. However Gareth didn't have any healing supplies. Great. The blue eyed male closed his eyes. Just great. Maybe he wouldn't return home after all... Maybe he should have waited.. Now wasn't the time to dwell on that though because he had to figure out how he was going to live, now! Gareth let out a helpless groan as he tried to move again, he felt so weak and dizzy. Surely he must have been struck by lightning! He could barely manage to lift his head and no matter how hard he tried to fight it, he felt himself start to lose consciousness...

Before he realized it, Sougon felt himself getting wet. He glanced up at the sky as the rain hit his face. Damn... time to go home. He moved quickly and managed to get out of the woods only to be startled by a bright light followed quickly by a loud clapping sound of thunder. Damn he really needed to get home! Before he could take another step however, there was a loud crash of the trees and the ground shook for a moment as something crashed to the ground. "What was that?!..." The elf turned and stared into the woods. Part of him said to get home and another part forced him forward. Due to how many times Sougon had been in these woods as a kid, it was easy for him to sprint through without tripping.

By the time he made it to where the crash sight was, he found a human in the middle of an opening. Without looking around to much or thinking about it, Sougon ran forward and shouted, "GARETH." He knew it was the black dragon despite never having seen his human form. In fact, that must have been why he ran into the woods to begin with something in him just knew it was Gareth who came crashing to the ground. The elf ran over and got down next to the dark-haired male. Was he unconscious? Who cares, he was hurt and if he didn't get help, he'd die. The elf quickly looked over the injury and decided to leave the stick where it was. He'd bleed out if it was removed now in the rain. Instead, he pulled Gareth onto his back gentle and made him lighter so gravity also wasn't working to farther the injuries. It may slow the bleeding temporarily and hopefully it would give Sougon the time he needed to get back to the city.

He took off running again being careful to avoid certain areas where he could slip and fall or areas with roots that stuck up enough to trip someone. The elf continued to run until he finally made it back to his neighborhood. Shit... should he bring Gareth to a doctor or home?! Damn. Sougon had already been heading towards his house but he turned fast and ran to the doctor's house where he slammed on the door. The doctor, who just woke, opened the door and rushed the boys in.

He was fast at his job and managed to get Gareth bandaged up enough so the bleeding would stop. He even removed the stick and made sure there weren't any splinters. No one knew that Gareth wouldn't be able to heal right away but when the doctor suggested that Sougon return home, he refused and made sure to stay put and sat down in a chair. He didn't change out of the wet clothes, he didn't even eat anything and just sat there holding his new friend's hand until he ended up falling asleep. The dark-eyed elf was still holding his hand by the morning and just had his head on his arm. While he was asleep, it wasn't the most restful sleep as he worried more about when Gareth would wake.

The next day, the doctor forced Sougon to get up. He had to get changed or he'd get sick! Thankfully Sougon was able to borrow some clothes after a hot bath. Quigs didn't get sick that often... Something about them just kept them healthier so sleeping in wet clothes, unless the room was winter like, they could usually handle it. Sougon was no exception. Still, they did have to take care of themselves. He finished up and returned to Gareth's side. He only moved from there to get out of the doctor's way when he needed to change the bandages or check the wounds.

The dark-eyed male remained by his friend's side and continued to hold his hand... In most countries the women would do this but it was a lot more common for men to show this display on Quig. Of course the only female Sougon knew who would do something like this was his sister who had to take over since his dad was abusive and would never want to do something like show emotional support to his son. They weren't exactly the touchy feely type of people but they could managed this amount of support... Most could anyway.

"GARETH!" His name echoed in his mind and it sounded so familiar... It was the last thing he heard before losing all consciousness. After that moment, he was out and seemingly dead to the world. Throughout the rest of the night he dipped in and out of consciousness. There was a moment when he would hear two people talking, then he was out again. Then there was another moment, when he awoke in the middle of the night. Something told him that he wasn't home. Everything felt... off, somehow. He was laying on his stomach, probably because his back still couldn't fully heal. The dark-haired male felt mostly numb everywhere, which was a relief for him considering the last thing he remembered was being in pain. He managed to get one eye open, he could barely see with his blurry vision... But the blue eyed male swore he saw Sougon... Holding his hand. He was asleep and he physically looked distraught. Gareth pondered the thought for a couple minutes before sleep pulled at him. He was out again.

Time became very disorienting for Gareth. He couldn't tell how much time was passing or had passed. It was actually sometime in the afternoon when Gareth stirred again, he was still unmoving but his eyes suddenly fluttered open. Crystal blue eyes peered out from black lashed, looking drained. For a moment, he caught Sougon looking away, but it was for only a moment. They locked eyes... And he could see Sougon's expression change in one instant. He had to blink several times because his eyes were still blurry. The other male looked like a blur to him. Finally, his eyes started to cooperate with him and Sougon finally came into focus. Ah, yes, that was him. He remembered that face at the festival. Gareth tried his best to form words, even then, the most he was able to say was, "S-Soh...ga- ...n..?" It was his poor attempt at trying to say the other male's name. His voice was hoarse and his throat was dry, that was probably why.

Damn... How was he going to tell Sougon what he was trying to say? He still felt oddly and weirdly numb everywhere. He felt like he couldn't move if he tried. However, the dark-haired male could tell that he still wasn't fully healed- and he knew why. But he suspected that Sougon probably didn't know... Considering he was unconscious, he hadn't had the opportunity to change into a dragon to fully heal. His powers were not limitless, he was the dragon and the dragon was him. So if either of them were to be injured, they both suffered the consequences. The only thing to do now... Was to tell Sougon... Somehow... That he needed to be healed in his dragon form... At the same time, he needed to have enough strength to transform long enough for the healing to have any effect. Gareth inwardly cursed himself. He felt so weak and it was unbearable! He was sure he broke the ritual in more than one way! Depending on how long he was out... He probably failed all together!

There was nothing he could do about it... For now, he was at the mercy of the people of Quig... Oh... He needed to focus... What was he trying to do again? Right... This whole time Gareth seemed to be in a daze and unresponsive. This phase lasted for a couple minutes, but for him, everything lagged. Gareth blinked again, wondering how he was going to communicate. The thought of telepathically talking to Sougon crossed his mind several times... But he wasn't sure how he did it... Plus, he had been in his dragon form. His eyes settled on Sougon's hand, which was still holding his... Anything would do at this point, Gareth was desperate. He tried to focus on their hands, physically, his hand jerked to life, lightly squeezing Sougon's hand- Just as he thought, "I need to heal in my dragon form-" He shot that thought at Sougon, wondering if the other male heard..? Or even understood..? Or thought he was still out of it, squeezing his hand like an idiot?

Sougon remained in that seat for as long as he could. He just wanted to make sure that Gareth was alright. The elf could almost sense when the dragon was coming into consciousness but it felt more like something was itching at the back of his brain the way it does when a person is trying so desperately to remember something. It didn't do anything to help him until the last time that Gareth finally woke and managed to open his eyes fully. It was a miracle to see him awake and Sougon thought he was about to cry from happiness to see that his new friend was finally awake and not on the verge of death... Though, he didn't seem to be healing right so maybe they weren't out of the woods yet... He had to think of something. Hearing the male's voice and the dark-eyed elf wanted to sprint off and get water but something kept him glued in that seat for a while and that was that he didn't want to leave Gareth's side even for a second.

Quickly picking up on the fact that fact that Gareth was trying to communicate with him based on the fact that he was moving his lips while trying to figure out a way to speak. "Should I go get you some water?!" He was panicking a little but tried hi best to stay calm... Damn, he didn't seem to do that well in stressful situations now did he? Sougon had to just sit and wait while Gareth tried to think up a way for them to talk to one another. "Gareth, please let me help you." Suddenly there was a noise in his head as the elf focused completely on the injured male. The words came from his hand and poured into his head coming in a little fuzzy but for the most part clear enough to understand what it was he needed at the moment.

Sougon got up out of his chair as fast as he could. "Please, relax a moment I'm going to get you some water and then I'm taking you outside so you can try and transform." Sougon finally pulled away from the dragon's grip and returned only a few seconds later with some water. He placed it to the side for a second where he carefully wrapped one hand around Gareth's waist and the other around on his chest and gently moved him up. He was so full of a pain killing potion he probably couldn't feel anything but the elf was still careful. Once Gareth was propped up, leaning against the dark-eyed male so Sougon could ever so gently pour the water into his mouth catching any drops that spilled. "There you go but save your energy. You're going to need to eat some food to transform."

With that, Sougon propped Gareth onto his back again and slowly and carefully brought him back out towards the woods. The elf gently placed Gareth down and laid him on a blanket on his chest. The elf then took off and came back a couple minutes later with some fruit. He helped to sit the dragon up and wanted to feed him but realized the fruit may be hard to eat like that... Without thinking, Sougon placed a piece of the fruit in his mouth, chewed it down, and pressed his lips against Gareth's and forced the chewed fruit down his throat. He did this several times until the blue-eyed male was at enough strength to eat by himself or transform into a dragon."Take your time and let me know what you need. Don't worry, I'm right here for you."

Today seemed like it would be very eventful... Gareth wasn't sure how to take Sougon's reactions. He was very expressive to say the least, not that it bothered Gareth... Sougon just seemed to have a hard time calming down, the blue eyed male could see the worry in the other's eyes. He looked so worried! The dark-haired male just couldn't understand how he could be so worried about him. This was the first time they've met! Yet, oddly enough, Sougon's reactions felt normal, as if Gareth felt use to them already. It would have been better to talk on lighter terms though. Even though Gareth didn't feel panicked, he knew that the situation he was in wasn't good at all.

Sougon seemed to be an awfully generous guy, from what Gareth could tell. Again, they just met, so it was a first impression- Then again, he did get to see his personality at the festival. He could agree that this man was still the nice guy who helped him out at the festival... And herre he was now, helping him out again... To live this time. By some miracle it seemed like Sougon finally understood and Gareth was thankful and relieved. The other male left him for a moment and return within a minutes time with some water. That would be nice... Though he wasn't sure... Oh. As Gareth was laying there, he watch Sougon, catching on to what the other male was going to do. This guy apparently had everything figured out.

Oh... Ugh. Gareth blinked a couple times when Sougon started to move him as he immediately began to feel lightheaded and dizzy. He was probably dehydrated anyway, so all in all water really would be good for him. Sougon almost seemed like a healer of sorts- More like he was desperately trying to make Gareth as comfortable as possible. He got the feeling that healing wasn't necessarily his thing, considering how much he panicked. Gareth on the other hand was totally calm about this, more than likely thanks to being drugged up with medicine. He didn't know any better. Gareth didn't realize how thirsty he was, but he knew better than to gulp it down, plus there's was nothing he could do anyway, Sougon was in control.

Being lectured by Sougon to save his energy was quite interesting as well. Gareth could laugh, but he held it back because he didn't want to be in pain. He wanted to say something casual like, 'Thanks Ma'... Because Sougon reminded him of Marel right at that moment. It was honestly kind of nice. After the water was gone, however, Sougon is quick to move him more. Onto his back! So this must have been how he got here to begin with... Just how did Sougon find him? Was he in the forest when his accident occurred? Guess he would ask later... The journey into the woods actually had Gareth falling asleep again. The blue eyed male had rest his head on Sougon's shoulder and was nodding off, being lulled to sleep. He knew that he should stay awake, but he was comfortable... And still tired from everything that had happened over the last couple days.

By the time Sougon helped him down onto a blanket, he was awake again but still drowsy. Sougon left him again, but he was not worried, he knew that male would come back. Did he say why he was leaving? Gareth wasn't paying attention. He just laid there patiently- And there was Sougon again. The other male brought him food? Fruit to be exact. Some time he never seen. Gareth was interested in trying the fruit! Although he wondered how exactly he would eat it because he felt like he couldn't control off of his movements yet. His body must react different to whatever medicine they gave him. Never had Gareth had a medicine make him feel numb all over. It was super effective for pain relief though!

Again Sougon lifted him up- And once again, time seemed to slow for Gareth. He didn't know why but his heart skipped a beat. It was like he could read Sougon's mind, he knew what he was going to do. Gareth watched in surprise as he watched Sougon eat some fruit, chew on it. What happened next had Gareth feeling many different emotions at once. He was happy that Sougon cared enough to feed him. He was also surprised that he was comfortable enough to feed him mouth to mouth! Gareth also felt shocked, feeling like a baby Touk (Toucan) being fed by its mother. It felt odd, wrong, gross, and so deliciously right at the same time. Damn he was so hungry!

This was the first time Gareth had experienced anything like this. Was this some kind of special feeding thing that Quigs did? If he had to describe the feeling, it was like he was being kissed- but he was being fed? And it was confusing. The second time Sougon 'fed' him, he was sure the other male's tongue touched his. The blue eyed male didn't reject the dark eyed male, he accepted the food that was given to him. By the third time Sougon fed him, Gareth was able to move his mouth a little more- as each time the other male fed him, he kept trying to move as well. It certainly was strange to taste the fruit and Sougon at the same time. Since this was his first experience with both, he couldn't determine which was what.

Sougon reminded him to take his time... Certainly after being being force fed through kissing, he would need a moment. It wasn't really a kiss though? Was it? Hell, it would if he continued to think it was. The poor man was only trying to help him! Either way, a light blush had formed onto his cheeks, which was evident because his skin was pale. "Th...Thanks." Was all he could muster to say, his eyes looked at the dirt at the edge of the blanket. Gareth felt the need to lighten the mood, so he continued, "But if you really wanted to kiss me, you should have just asked." He didn't know how Sougon would take it but he hoped he wouldn't react too negatively. Gareth had a weird sense of humor. Thanks to the food and water, he had successfully regained his voice...

Yeah he was still numb for the most part, but Gareth felt like he could hold the form long enough to be healed. "You better stand back a little." He said, giving Sougon ample time to step back before he transformed. Right before the other male, he became the same scary-looking dragon. The only thing that was different was the fact that his back was bleeding and a huge tree limb was still lodged into him. It was like time had paused for his dragon form, this was the condition he was in the last time he was in this form. The dragon huffed out smoke in distress, the medicine wasn't covering all of his pain anymore. The dragon just laid there, breathing heavily again. His eyes looked over at Sougon, mentally telling him to hurry up please. From there, he'd leave it to Sougon to 'fix' him.

Sougon simply worked to get Gareth feed and didn't really think about the fact that they were kissing. Once the blue-eyed male was feeling better, he said something that made the elf blush an obvious deep red. He quickly turned away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kiss you without permission...." He wanted so badly to ask now if it was ok for them to kiss but before he could, Gareth was already planning on turning into his dragon form. It was actually disheartening that he wasn't able to say or do anything. Why did Sougon's heart hurt so much by not being able to say anything... but n a way, he did kiss the dragon... even though it was without permission. The elf had been aware of his reference for males for a while but never said anything or did anything to make it show.... Looks like he slipped up.

The dark-eyed boy stepped way back when he was warned and watched curiously as he transformed into a dragon. It was amazing. Heck, Sougon had never seen anything like it before and was in absolute awe. He stared at the dragon for a while, hesitating to help but then he realized what needed to be done. The elf jumped and float onto Gareth's back barely touching is scales at all as he inspected the wound. Once he was ready, the wound was worse than he thought but he knew removing the object lodged in there would be an easy task. "Ok, Hang in there Gareth, this may hurt a little..." he wasn't sure how effective the drugs were in this form since this log wasn't lodged into his human form... Maybe the two forms, while being the same, were completely different and separate at the same time.

Sougon had to keep himself lifted and keep laser focus on the log... One wrong move and Gareth could be in danger.... No pressure though... He readied himself and used his pressure in little bits to make sure the log would be completely together. This way, when being removed, no piece would be left behind or get caught on any muscle or flesh bits. After, Sougon took a deep breath and lifted the log straight out of the dragon's wound before moving it and tossing it aside. As soon as the log was out of mind, the elf used his powers to hold the wound down and closed. "Keep pressing up against my barrier of gravity. We need to keep that wound from bleeding out before the medicine can kick in and heal it," Sougon explained as he reached into a small bag he had and got out the medicine designed just for this.

Popping open the bottle, Sougon floated in front of Gareth and poured the medicine in his mouth to drink. They then had to wait 10 minutes for the medicine potion to kick in and as soon as those 10 minutes were up, the wound started to heal instantly. It was completely gone within a half hour.

"Alright, you're all set for now. You still need to rest and eat to regain your strength but other than that, you should be up and flying again by tomorrow... Hopefully... You did lose a lot of blood so maybe take it a little easier." Sougon was still incredibly worried about the dragon. He landed on the ground and released all his powers before collapsing to the ground. That much energy spent took its toll on Sougon, especially the gravity increase power with such precision. For now he just breathed and kept focused.

"Sorry, I'll get up and get you some more food in just a minute, for now I need to rest." It only did take a minute for the elf to get back on his feet and when he did, he was ready to go. "You think you have the strength to help collect some fruit? Anything you collect you can eat," Sougon explained. In reality, he just wanted to show off his climbing skills where he didn't have to use his powers to lift himself into a tree. After all, climbing trees was one of the few things he did that he refused to use his powers for. He grew up climbing before his powers and planned on never using his powers as long as he was able to keep climbing. "There are a couple poisonous fruit to watch out for but for the most part, their good... Just stay away from the purple ones," he mentioned.

"Also, one more thing... This is more of a request then anything else... Can I..." He glanced away clearly embarrassed. "I mean.. if it's ok... Can I kiss you for real?" Sougon was too embarrassed to even look at Gareth expecting to be rejected. This was his first time ever actually doing anything with another man but something about Gareth just made everything seem so right.

Gareth was just ready for the pain to be over with... Unfortunately, more pain had to be done before the healing could commence. He didn't even feel Sougon get on his back. Hell- What he felt the most was the sudden blinding pain of the log coming out. No matter how gentle Sougon was trying to be- He nearly fainted and that would have been bad because then he would have lost his form... Gareth knew that he needed to be healed so he was hanging on to his consciousness for dear life. Oh... But once the log was out, he felt like he couldn't feel anything anymore, and for a second he thought he couldn't hear Sougon anymore. So he did his best to hold still for the other male while he literally worked his magic.

When Sougon gave him the medicine, Gareth could tell, regardless if 10 minutes had passed- it was finally kicking in! Most of the pain he had been feeling melted away. Gareth's dragon form relaxed more, relaxing even more as his breathing became more steady. The dragon had never been more thankful in his life. Someone was healing him, he wasn't going to die! That was the good news of the day. Truth be told, Gareth felt all warm inside... The medicine made him feel all warm and happy... Giggly? Probably because he wasn't feeling pain? Eh, Gareth didn't even care what the side effects were.

In his dragon form Gareth listened to what Sougon had to say about him being all better. Great, he would be able to fly again? That was a relief, although Gareth had already suspected as much. At least he would be able to complete the ritual. He... might stay another day, just to make sure he wouldn't pass out and that he could handle flying after such an injury. The dragon huffed out smoke as his 'thank you' for healing him. But then he watched Sougon fall over, the dragon tilted his head at him as if asking if he was okay. Sure enough Sougon seemed to be fine. He was tired, that's all.

When Sougon talked about getting more food, Gareth couldn't help but to think back to Sougon feeding him a while ago. Ah, but this time he wanted to collect food? Gareth thought that he might be up to that... Considering that he felt so much better... That medicine was working miracles. They needed to have whatever it was in Sabbas! Gareth blinked, looking at Sougon who was explaining the plants... And then- a very unfamiliar request. Gareth was actually very shocked that Sougon would even ask. Oh. Wow. What should he say? He didn't actually think that Sougon would take him seriously... The dragon was also surprised that the other male would want to kiss him, despite only just meeting.

Well... He did tell Sougon to ask if he really wanted a kiss. Gareth wasn't one to turn someone down after saying that, though he had never said it to anyone else before. For some reason he had said it out loud, thinking it was harmless... It was a kiss- that was harmless enough. Besides, Gareth really didn't have a preference for gender, as did many at Sabbas. The people of Sabbas were free when it came to love, sex was between the couple, not the public. So in essence, Gareth wasn't offended that he might have gotten a guy to magically like him. To be honest, Gareth found himself preferring Sougon over Kilee anyway. She was a pretty woman and he had been avoiding her for some time because he was not interested... However, Sougon seemed to be different... Gareth wasn't against the idea of kissing him at all... No, not all...

The dragon made a snorting sound before approaching Sougon, sniffing him and then nuzzling him as he did so, possibly nearly knocking the poor male over in the process. "Don't look away, fool." Then Gareth changed back into his human form. Inhaling deeply as he gained his footing, goodness he felt loopy and happy and- still giggly from the medicine. This was the first time Gareth would see Sougon face to- face? Gareth looked around before his eyes went down, narrowing at Sougon who was hilariously shorter than he. "Sh... Short!" Nearly a whole head shorter than him! Gareth's straight face went out the moment he saw Sougon's height. He thought the other male was taller for sure! "Pfft- Hah!-" Gareth bursted into laughter, immediately stiffening slightly when he felt a little pain, but otherwise he continued.

Why was it so funny that Sougon was short? Well, Gareth knew preteens with his height. Gareth held his arms over his stomach from laughing, nearly falling over himself- and getting awfully lightheaded. He wiped away a happy tear. "This medicine makes me feel ridiculously giddy..." He huffed out, trying to catch his breath as he looked over at Sougon. "S-Sorry." Gareth tried to collect himself. After a moment he cleared his throat. "Uh... About the food, I kind of dropped everything and I don't know where it is..." He also lost both necklaces he had! It really was starting to bother him. "I had lots of food. I don't mind sharing... If you want. Would save the effort of getting some ourselves. Unless the location is too far... I'm kind of exhausted..." Gareth inhaled slowly, straightening himself out before getting onto the point- what he was sure Sougon was waiting for. "Yes you can kiss me..." He smirked, chuckling before saying, "If you can reach me." He teased. Gareths voice was decently deep, now that he could speak without effort he sounded much more lively.

Sougon was quite embarrassed to make his request but it was something that he wanted. He found himself falling for Gareth more and more so to be offered to be allowed to kiss him if he asked, well there just was no way for him not to say anything. The elf wanted this so badly that he just watched and carefully waited for the dragon to change back into his human form. He ended up turning away in embarrassment but Gareth pressed his nose closer and even pushed Gareth gently to the point he nearly fell flat on his ass. Of course, he caught himself but the elf was certainly surprised to say the least by the dragon's actions.

Gareth changing into human form was actually rather beautiful. He had been curious as to how the transformation worked. He didn't know if it was a painful bone shifting change but it actually wasn't and his body just flowed like water to suddenly take on a different form. Watching it was like seeing an elegant dance that just captivated the elf with such a swift movement. Sougon actually had to take a minute to recover himself after seeing something like that but quickly got his bearings and tried to focus again on what he had said... He quickly began to worry if that was a good choice none the less.

"You must be having some kind of weird reaction to the medicine because it shouldn't make you feel like that.... Or you're just weird..." Sougon smirked a little he was happy that Gareth was turning back into his human form. When the two stood in front of one another, the two seemed to notice the same thing at the same time. Sougon was so short... He was a whole head shorter than Gareth, which the blue-eyes male had no problem pointing out. The elf could almost feel his vein pop with irritation as the other burst out in a fit of laughter over the difference. Not only was Sougon not getting an answer to his request but now he was straight up being made fun of about his height. It was actually a crushing feeling that he got from the stinging reaction.

"I only mentioned the food because I wanted you to climb a tree with me. You have no idea, it's great climbing trees but you must have been able to fly for years.... guess there was no point in you even trying." Sougon actually felt like his heart had just been ripped out and was trying to go about not caring. Of course, that was next to impossible... The elf just wanted to punch Gareth and run away but that wasn't going to accomplish anything. He just had to deal with the kind of abuse he was currently getting.

However, the dragon did turn around and say that it was ok for them to kiss and Sougon perked up after hearing that. But then, it all went down again when he said that he had to reach to get the kiss. "You really should learn about Quigs because they have a tendency to lose it when they get angry. Did you also know that even if you are taller than me, I can take you out at the knees and you'll suddenly be shorter than me? Same concept." He suddenly had a devious smirk on his face and used his powers to increase the gravity until Gareth was forced down to about his height. "Don't underestimate me," he stated placing his hands on the dragon's cheeks.

After placing his hands on the other's face, Sougon leaned in and released his magic as he pressed their lips together. He left at a surface kiss, something that seemed a little more platonic than originally anticipated. However, the elf didn't care and let go. "I'll find what you dropped, It shouldn't be hard and nothing should have taken it." Sougon didn't really want to stick around too long. Part of him just felt crushed... Probably because he really did want to kiss the other and then, he just turning it into something of a joke. Before Gareth could really say anything else, the elf was a good few hundred feet in the air above the trees. He left himself there for a while just turning around before noticing a changed in the tree structure.

"I Think I found it!!!" He called down loudly before forcing himself forward and heading for the supplies. He could have gone down but didn't and just kept going until he reached the spot. Sougon finally landed and pulled together as many of the things as possible before taking off again and returning to Gareth where he just placed the things on the ground. "This was the most I could gather but I hope it is enough," Sougon said quietly. Why did his heart still hurt... Gareth probably was only acting because of the medicine taking a strange effect but still... That didn't make his rejection any lighter, that's for sure.

Immediately, the first thing Gareth noticed was how upset Sougon got because he made fun of him, albeit slightly unintentional. Sougon was right though, Gareth was his own kind of weird. Woah, he could swear he saw a vein about to pop out of Sougon's head. But when Sougon started to talk about tree climbing, he gave him a funny look- and was about to inform Sougon before the other male continued to speak. "Quigs have tempers, hmmn?" And very quickly Gareth learned. Suddenly the weight of the air around him felt heavy! This forced him to hunch over. Of course that's when it all stopped and before he knew it, Sougon had his hands on his cheeks and promptly pulled him into a kiss. Oh... Clever.

This time Gareth smiled, this time in acknowledgement of Sougon's powers. He nodded in agreement, he would not underestimate him. Or at least he would try. Gareth was only just learning. Surprisingly Sougon have him a chaste kiss. With the way the other male had blushed when he asked, Gareth would have thought that he wanted to do something more... intense. After Sougon declared that he would get his stuff, Gareth wanted to stop him but his voice got caught in his throat as he watched the other male suddenly fly! Gareth's eyes widened and his mouth opened in awe. "Woah..!" He said under his breath. He wanted to go with Sougon... Mostly because he wanted to see the crash site himself... He wanted his necklaces back too. However the other male left before he could say anything.

Gareth sighed softly as he still felt sore and lightheaded. The blue eyed male sat down while the dark grey eyed male was away. What was he going to do? He had realized that he made the other male angry. Then there was the fact that Sougon left him alone! That wasn't nice. Plus the other male had assumed something about him that he wanted to clear up. He had a feeling that they would get along quite well. Gareth watched for Sougon, and when he returned he stood up slowly... Feeling giddy and lightheaded and maybe even dizzy. Physically he still looked paler than usual. "What did you find..?" He asked softly while approaching Sougon. He was hoping that the other male had the necklaces..?

The blue eyed male frowned for two reasons. Sougon didn't have the necklaces and he still looked pissed. Other than that, Sougon had several small baskets that he had been carrying and his travel bag which had the items from all the places he had been to thus far- the seeds and pocks were still inside! Gareth smiled happily when he checked the bag. Well Gareth thought he knew a way to lighten the mood once more. Even though the necklaces were not here, he could at least thank Sougon, and perhaps cheer him up.

But first, Gareth took everything from Sougon, slowly and gently before placing everything on the ground. "Just so you know- It's a tradition in Sabbas to climb trees. We are forbidden to transform until we are able to do so. It's a test. I passed on my first try. There are many, many trees- tall trees in Sabbas, Sougon. So please don't assume thing about me. You don't know what Sabbas is like. Maybe you'll see it for yourself sometime... But until then..." Gareth turned toward Sougan, pulling on his hand and tugging him toward him. "I'll beat your ass up the tree any day- Just not today. I'm still seriously injured. Maybe not bleeding to death anymore... But still. Don't press your luck, unless you want me dead."

And then Gareth huffed, glancing around, "I just wish I could-" Something caught his eye. Wait. Was that what he thought it was! Gareth immediately let go of Sougon's hand, speed walking -because that was as fast as he could go right now- toward the log... He crouched near it and noticed a blue shiny stone! A smile lit up his face. There was both necklaces, tied together... Gareth was quick to pick it up and then turn on his heal to return to Sougon as he untied them. Before Sougon could say anything about it, Gareth wrapped one of the necklaces around his neck- it was the one with his scale. "I'm sorry, it must have gotten chipped when I crashed... But it's a necklace no less. Now you have one too." He said before putting on the necklace Sougon gave him from the festival.

"Also..." He said, smiling again because he felt silly because of the medicine. The blue eyed male was quick to grab Sougon's hand again, this time not only pulling him closer but actually wrapping an arm around him. "I'm sorry I laughed at your height a bit ago... And as for your temper, I think I can handle it... I think I like how feisty you are..." He said as his other hand snaked up and cupped Sougon's chin, tilting his head back slightly so they maintained eye contact. If he had to call it right now, he felt like they were mutually attracted to each other. That in itself was very surprising and hard for him to believe, let alone grasp. Possibly luck brought them together- or as Marel would have said... Fate.

Gareth had to admit. He was drawn to Sougon, and it wasn't just his eyes. He just felt it... What he was feeling was beyond him and it was a feeling he didn't understand. If he had to guess, it was something along the lines of attraction? With that thought, and without really asking because he assumed it was okay, Gareth closed the gap between them with a kiss. This time the kiss lasted a lot longer than the one Sougon gave him a while ago. He even nipped at Sougon's bottom lip before breaking the kiss. "Don't underestimate me either, okay?"

"Oh really? Well then, heal fast and prove it to me." Sougon was egging Gareth on but he wanted to do something interesting and wanted to show the dragon that there were lots of things off his island for him to do. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound too over zealous but I just wanted to see what you got. But just so you know, I climb these trees every day so I'm going to kick your butt into next week," He stated. The elf was just excited that he had finally made a friend of his own that wasn't hanging out with him because his sister was great or because they pitied the fact that he was always alone and without a single friend. Sure, Sougon got along with everyone but that didn't mean he actually had any friends... No one really wanted to be that close to him. I t wasn't like any of that really mattered because Sougon was fine on his own... though he never knew different so it might be bad when Gareth ultimately had to leave.

It was easy to notice that something was wrong... He must have missed something because Gareth frowned when he looked through the things gathered and even now he was still looking around. "What's wrong?" Sougon didn't really get an answer because Gareth didn't even get to finish his sentence before the dark-haired male hurried off and picked up a couple necklaces twisted and knotted together. The elf walked over curious as to what it was that seemed so important to his new friend and found the charm he had given him there in the form of one necklace, the other was of a chipped scale. It was a brilliant ebony that looked like it could steal the sun right from the sky and hide it withing its dark depths.

He looked on in surprise for a while before Gareth placed that brilliant dark scale around his neck. "Are you allowed to give this away? It looks really important," Sougon said. He was left breathless by the beauty of the scale as well as the kind gesture brought on by the dragon who gave it to him. Before anything else could happen, Sougon's hand was grabbed again for the second time. He half expected something the first time but nothing ended up happening as he simply released the hand and moved away but the second time was extremely different. The elf was pulled in nice and close and tight a hand wrapping around him. Gareth then took the time to speak in a sweet and powerful tone that just made the man want to swoon... He tried to contain himself.

Just then, his chin was cupped and his head tilted upward more. Their reversed eyes stared at each other in a way that made Sougon weak in the knees as he stared up at the dragon. Why was he so attracted to this man? Heck, the elf had his suspicions but didn't honestly believe he was gay... Or maybe he was only gay for this man, this particular one that seemed like his best friend even though they'd only just met. Best friends and didn't kissing like this make them-? No, he needed to not jump to conclusions... Not yet, Sougon would take the time to consider his feelings and then he would probably confess and hope something happened... but what if he didn't confess now? Would someone else confess and steal the dragon from him? The one he was already painfully aware that he liked?

The thought continued to swirl around and plague the elf's mind but everything seemed frozen in time when their lips connected again. It was much different from what Sougon had done. He wasn't use to being this close with anyone and now Gareth seemed to be playing at something by nibbling his lip like that and kissing him longer and more sexually than what he had originally done.... Though, this was what Sougon wanted the first time and only held back after having been made fun of for his height.

"You're right, I don't understand you at all... But I want to." The dark-eyed male closed his eyes and placed his arms around the back of Gareth's neck and forced him into yet another kiss. This one was a lot more sexual almost egging the dragon on to engage him in a make out battle. If they couldn't climb trees then why not see who the better kisser was. Sougon just then realized that this was a bad idea. If he got too into it he might get hard and then Gareth would surely think he was weird and would hate him. The elf pulled away from the kiss and tried to get some distance between the two. "Sorry, I guess I can't always help myself. That was stupid.... I'm sorry..." Now would have been a good time to just admit that he had feelings for Gareth.

"It's a charm, made from my own scale. Don't worry about it. I can give that away to whoever I want or choose to keep it myself." Gareth uttered in reply to Sougon's worried questions. He could tell that the other male really appreciated the small gift and that made Gareth feel relieved. The kiss even made him feel oddly relieved in ways he couldn't describe. However that wasn't the surprising part. Gareth found himself breathless, and a little lightheaded, when Sougon literally pulled him down for another kiss. The last words Sougon said were still echoing in his mind. The force of this kiss made Gareth feel different things intensely. While he was not sure what exactly he was feeling, somewhere in the back of his mind he knew... This kiss lasted longer and seemed to be asking, nearly begging Gareth to kiss the other male again...

But then suddenly, too soon, the kiss was broken again. Sougon moved away from him like there was something wrong. What could possibly be wrong? He couldn't handle himself? Just what was he talking about? The dragon was just confused. Was it not a good thing that they kissed? Maybe Sougon belonged to another and felt guilty about kissing him? Well that certainly would explain why he reacted that way. He supposed he should let the other male know that he wasn't upset with him. "Hu- Hey now... Why are you apologizing..?" The dragon asked, genuinely curious and feeling a little dazed. "It's okay, I won't tell anyone if that's what you want." Although Sougon should have been more careful and should have warned him! Had he known, he wouldn't have impulsively kissed the other male.

When Sougon has moved away it was then that he realized how unnaturally cold his body felt. It wasn't even that Sougon made him feel warm... The dragon himself had never felt this cold, ever. Sure he still felt numb and even giddy. But he felt like he literally had no warmth for the first time. The dragon actually shivered. Maybe he should rest..? Actually, Gareth probably should have laid right back down after his dragon form was healed... He was literally running on nothing- And now that he thought about it, that was probably the reason why he was having an incredibly hard time focusing, along with feeling lightheaded and dizzy. This realization mentally hit him like a wall- or being crushed by immeasurable weight.

"N-Nap time." The dragon barely stuttered out before his eyes literally rolled back and he started to fall forward. By the time he landed on his knees he was unconscious. His body literally flopped onto his side, but mostly he was laying on his stomach. His cheek implanted on the ground. Once on the ground it was easy to see why the dragon so suddenly had passed out- By now the bandages on his back were almost all the way soaked through with blood, his shirt was also stained. He had opened up his wound from being too active. At least his back wasn't a gaping hole like it was last time... He was mostly healed... However due to the lack of blood, well,... Gareth was passed out again.

Sougon barely had time to look up as he watched his friend drop like a sack of potatoes towards the ground. The male managed to use his powers to stop the other from completely smashing his face but he would probably feel a bit uncomfortable after that. The elf gently laid his friend down and got down next to him. "GARETH!!!" he searched and checked the wound but it was already closed up at the moment. It had bled like crazy before he could let it heal and now the dragon's body was cold and Sougon had no idea what to do....

If the wound was at least closed he could move the other but what if that disrupted something?! Either way, Sougon was in no position to be of any help. He knew nothing about medicine. "I'm sorry my friend....." He whispered and pulled Gareth back onto his back and carried him back to the village and straight to the doctor. The doctor wrapped the closed wound just to make sure it wouldn't open again or get infected in any way. Sougon was relieved to hear that he was alright but terrified to hear that he was suffering from blood loss.... How was the elf going to keep him warm? A good start was probably the fire.

In this room there happened to be a separate fire place just for patients like Gareth that suffered from blood loss and were unable to produce their own heat. Sougon started the fire but worried it wasn't enough. He then covered the dragon with blankets and still didn't think it would help... "Damn it.... Blankets are useless if you can't produce your own warmth...." Just then another idea popped into his head and Sougon crawled into the bed and under all the blankets with Gareth. He pressed his hot, adrenaline rushed body against his friend's cold one and waited a moment. It didn't take long for Sougon to grow tired though due to the warmth of the room.

Finally, he dozed off and didn't actually wake until the next morning. The doctor woke him in an attempt to get him to eat dinner but the young elf just groaned a rejection and went back to sleep against his friend. Heck... He ended up sleeping so long, Gareth probably came to before he did.

  • 2 weeks later...

Gareth found himself coming in and out of consciousness for the next couple hours. He saw glimpses of the outside... Then the inside of some place... Some blurry figure in the distance, then another... Darkness. Muffles of words here and there. Sougon's voice echoing in the back of his mind. Darkness... By the time he awoke he felt so disoriented and confused. The only clue to what time it was, Gareth had to squint because his eyes were blurry, it looked like the sun was just about to come up. He was laying on his side. And- Gareth tensed up. W-who..? There was some strange guy staring at him... Was that... the doctor..? Talk about creepy... Why was he staring..?

The dragon tried to ignore the doctor, as well as the uncomfortable feeling he got. Thankfully, the man left the room... Where? Gareth hadn't the slightest clue and that didn't matter right now because... because... Well, because he just realized that Soungon was sleeping with him... This realization had the dragon blinking in disbelief a couple of times. Yes, that was Sougon... Who was nestled close, cheek pressed right into his chest, one arm draped across his waist. Of course, Gareth also had an arm wrapped around the other males sleeping form, although he felt the need to move it, as his arm was tingling from falling asleep.

Overall, the dragon felt so much better. He didn't feel ill, he felt like he was at perfect health, even though he knew he wasn't. Sougon was a... Nice surprise that came from this. He hadn't expect the other male to boldly sleep with him. Gareth couldn't complain though because he was awfully warm, and it drew the dragon closer to the other male. The dragon was thankful for both the fire, the blanket and Sougon's warmth, as he liked feeling warm whilst he slept. This was much better than before he passed out. He had felt so cold right then... Gareth hoped he didn't make the other male worry about it too much. He kept passing out, given that he had been seriously injured. Considering everything that happened, he felt lucky to be alive.

The dragon stiffened again when the doctor came back. He made eye contact with the doctor, who was carrying a glass of water. "Here." The doctor said in a hushed voice. "Drink up, and rest up. I'll get your meal in a bit."

Gareth carefully, without waking Sougon, moved up a bit. As he did so, he realized how sore he felt. With his free hand he reached for the glass, carefully looked at it before taking a sip. "Uh... How about you come back in... I don't know... Two hours... I don't feel hungry and would like to rest a little longer." The dragon replied, watching the doctor closely. He didn't like the feeling he got when he was around him. It was a doctor, much like Sabbas... He didn't know... Perhaps it was because this man wasn't a doctor from Sabbas... Perhaps he was just missing Sabbas in general...

There was no complaint from the doctor. He didn't say anything actually. The man only nodded his reply before leaving again... What a strange doctor... After taking another sip of water, Gareth set the glass aside and turned his attention back to the sleeping male. Now that his other hand had its feeling back, he could move more with ease. Honestly, he was speaking the truth when he said he was tired. The dragon only wanted to sleep a little longer... Now... How should he go about laying down again... Gareth just went with the option that seemed the most natural...

Which so happened to be- Gareth scooting down, laying on his back fully- Oh wow, his back didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. That's nice... As carefully as he could, trying to not wake Sougon up, he pulled the other male onto his chest, his cheek pressed against his chest. Suppressing a shiver that shot through him, as he became fully aware that he was cold because he had sat up. Now that he was laying down again, he could position himself, and Sougon better. He lightly ruffled Sougon's hair, a light smile on his face, as he silently thanked Sougon for saving his life. Somehow he'd make it up to him. Laying with him didn't bother the dragon at all. He was use to comforting little ones...

Gareth pulled Sougon's arm up so that it was around him, much like it was earlier- only this time, Gareth looked at Sougon's hand, actually poking him before holding his hand. Gareth shrugged and took it upon himself to intertwine their fingers together. He was actually shocked and surprised by how comfortable their hands fit together, it literally made his heart skip a beat. With small huff, the dragon pulls the blanket up so that it covers both of them- Then his hand went right back into Sougon's hair, lightly ruffling it once more before he closed his eyes. The other hand, which was still tangled with Sougon's, lightly squeezed the other male's hand. Then Gareth started to fall asleep again.

The doctor thought it was bad that Sougon had left earlier. The kid almost set him into a panic... Sougon had been so panicky and frantic that the doctor almost missed the dragon's name... Gareth. It was very rare for them to change into their human forms, so he heard... That was when they were the most vulnerable. And while the doctor was thankful that Sougon somehow managed to not only befriend the dragon, but help save his life... Well... The kid was some kind of special, that was for sure...

Just yesterday he sent out a letter to an old friend of his, informing his friend about the dragons' wearabouts... Sougon did a good job so far at keeping the dragon tamed, calm, and in his human form. He would be much easier to deal with this way... The doctor was still hesitant on whether if he should inform Sougon's father about Sougon's whereabouts... Although he did know that the man had a thirst for money... Perhaps the bigot would actually aid him in getting Sougon away from the dragon long enough... Just long enough... The only thing he was worried about, was that the dragon would leave before his friend could get the group together...

However, in the case that the dragon does leave... Well... He was sure they could use Sougon to lure the dragon out. It would seem that Sougon had taken quite the liking to Gareth... And that would be used against him. Sougon might not be happy at first... But the money would roll in... And after awhile, the money changes a man. Honestly, the doctor would rather avoid getting Sougon involved, but it already looked too late... The dragon was guarded by Sougon, even while sleeping! The brat always had a knack for messing things up... He would know, he watched the kid grow from a small thing, to... what he was now, a grown man.

The doctor would have to wait for his reply... Or for his friend to show up to decide what move he should make next. He knew how well dragons healed, he wasn't stupid... They had a little bit different immune system as well as healing factor... So the medicine he gave to him earlier would definitely make the dragon relax and hopefully unable to fly- keep him preoccupied long enough for the group to get together... He would let the dragon rest of course, as he was no use to them dead... The dragon was only valuable if he was alive- a good source of income. Admittedly, the doctor had spiked the dragons drink... He could tell that Gareth already seemed skeptical of him... That man already caught him watching them whilst they slept...

It would not be good if Gareth figured him out... Well, he couldn't do anything to stop him, or at least not yet... He would be sleeping for a few more hours whether he wanted to or not thanks to the medicine he put into his water. It didn't have a smell, obviously, otherwise the dragon would have picked up on it. Although, the doctor could say that it was medicine if he was asked, which then, he technically wouldn't be lying... The doctor let out a sigh as he sat down in his chair. Sougon was so reckless yesterday... Taking the dragon out of bed... If he would have gotten away, his friend would surely be pissed.

Until then... the doctor waited...
