Key Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 If you encounter some problems while trying to play Japanese games (the game simply crushes, you get an error message etc.) it could be the following: The no. 1 problem when a game won't install or crashes when trying to play it the lack of Japanese language support on your PC. This means that you must have installed the East Asian Language Pack. For more information on setting your system into Japanese, check Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. . If it gives some error about "Putting the CD in the drive" it is likely the copy protection on the disk. In this case, you may need to get the game from another source that made a correct image around the protection. If the game crushes, make sure you check the company website for update patches. Many of these patches fix problems with the game, like error messages, crashing, and compatibility problems. If you are trying to play an old game and you are using Windows XP, try a different compatibility mode. This is done by right-clicking the game .exe file and going to the Compatibility tab. If it's an older game, try setting it to Win95/98 setting, 640x480 resolution, or try changing your color settings by right-clicking the desktop, going to properties, clicking the settings tab, and setting the color to 16-bit. Here is a list of games that require the use of compatibility mode in Windows XP: Angelique (Windows 95/98 version) Angelique Special and Angelique Special 2 (Windows 95/98 version) Fushigi no Kuni no Angelique (Windows 95/98 version) Koukou Kyoushi: Memories of Summer Princess Maker 3 The game may have corrupt files. This can happen if the downloaded file was damaged and you should try re-downloading the file from a different source. You may be missing other software the game needs to run. This is typically either DirectX or certain video/sound codecs. Make sure you keep your DirectX updated, the recent versions can be downloaded from Microsoft.com. If the game crashes right at the beginning, it may be from missing codecs that are needed for the opening movie which is trying to play right at the game startup. Try looking through the game documentation, or if the video files are not inside of game programming files, try using a codec identification program on it to see if you are missing a codec that is needed. Just doing a search on Google for codecs and downloading some of the bigger, comprehensive packs may help. 10
Aoi Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Thanks! I had some problems while trying to play Neko to Tsukiyo no Buranko due to my outdated version of DirectX. I think that was the problem as, after I updated it the game didn't crash anymore. Thanks again!!!
