Especially with the threads that belong to the anime downloads. So that the first post can have all the downloads and the people won't have to scroll through the whole thread just to look for a specific episode to download...or something. You can contact any moderator to update the first post of a thread after 24 hours have passed since you made the thread. We have implemented this protection measure because each edited post takes more space in the database, as both the original version and the modified version are stored. 1 post that is edited 6 times takes as much space as 7 regular posts.
