Yearning

As I lay here in my bed,

All I see is you again.

Driving myself a little crazy,

I try to close my eyes to sleep.

Even when I do,

I still see you.

Imagining sweet things,

So intimate and warm.

I hold out my arms,

Waiting for you to embrace me.

I know this will never happen,

But my heart yearns for it badly.

Lowering my arms,

I hold myself tight.

Curled up alone,

Tears form in my eyes.

Learn to let go I tell myself,

Yet it seems so hard for me to do.

Let me hold your pain,

I want to be one you can cry to.

Your angel is what I wish to be,

Someone to protect your heart.

My flaws take that away,

Leaving me just a simple mortal.

Our lives have not been perfect,

Full of hurtful memeories and anger.

I just want to protect your soul,

Keep it safe inside my heart.

Please let my tears mix with yours,

Letting go of what is hurting us.

My mind keeps playing the same movie,

A girl who lost her way.

She searches for somewhere to hide,

But has no help to see the path.

Alone she must fight,

Break through to get outside of her shell.

Can I help you out of your casket,

Since it's time to be alive.

I let this thought pass through my mind,

Knowing the answer is just a 'no'.

Feeling myself drift off to sleep,

I see you in my thoughts one last time.
