Plot b. the art c. the sex scene All of them are important to me. But I'm not always interested in a sex scene. Sometimes I put more importance on plot. But the most important for me is the characters, how they interact and how they drive the story. If I'm only in it for the sex scenes then art is definitely important. Characters are important to me. When it comes to seme and uke, they need to fit together. As long as it makes sense for the characters to be together, and their chemistry feels like it works, then I will enjoy the story. 5. What type of seme you like a. take the lead in sex b. Depend on the uke c. ( comment below if you like another type) Like I said, it depends on the uke. If they are compatible with each other. In most yaoi the characters usually fit into archetypes. It works, and it's fine, but I love finding gems where the seme and uke seem like more original characters and not just a "seme type" and "uke type". That's just me though. I have read so much yaoi, other novels and fanfiction out there, that I got bored of the same things over and over. If you are writing a BL novel, my best advice to you would be to make the characters seem believable.. Unless you just want to make smut and focus on sex. XD Since you're worried no one will like your story, I advice you to think about your target audience. Who do you want to read your story? If you make a sweet romantic story then you will attract readers who like romantic stories. If you write bdsm then you will attract readers who like bdsm. But first, look at the story you are writing. Do you like your own story? It's important you like your own creation. My best advice would be to write the type of yaoi you like to read. Does your taste in manga change in time a. Yes b. No --> sure. I used to only read shoujo and now I'm into yaoi and josei. Which manga I pick up and want to read also depends on my mood 4. (comment below if you love another type) while it's true i like it when the bottom takes the lead, it's only because the vast majority is the opposite, so this is like a breath of fresh air. but i have nothing against innocent types -- it's an issue of variety. anyway! it all depends on the individual character. as long as he's sympathetic and written well, it's fine. you'd do well to focus on making him a good character above all else, i think. and that he has chemistry with the other guy. 5.
