Asta shrugged his shoulders after hearing Leon's comment about whether or not he was allowed to order out. His mom had been pretty strict about his diet while he recovered. "Y-yeah. Its fine." He muttered. Though it had no weight to it. As his hand grabbed his phone, he was surpised to see Leon's hand follow suite. He paused, keeping his gaze low. [ "Asta..hi.. what is wrong love?" ] He felt chills run down his spine. Did he hear that right? love? He hadn't heard that pet name for awhile. He still liked it...and he hadn't realized how much he'd miss it. [ "You always avoid eye contact when you have something weighing around your heart. You know you can tell me everything.. ] Even when Asta tried to hide himself...Leon was able to see right through him...a faint blush on his face. A mix between being flustered and embarrassed. [" How about if you tell me I'll take you on a date? Anywhere you'd like." ] Asta bit his lip as he finally looked up at him, his heart sinking as Leon offered him a reassuring smile. He lowered his gaze again, falling silent for a long moment as he struggled to find the words to form what he wanted to say. He stared at there hands. They were still overlapping each other...but.... "I...im sorry..." His voice soft but sincere, he fell quiet again as he slowly intertwined his fingers with Leons...wanting to hold his hand...his touch was gentle...and slow...as if he had been longing for this moment. " I...know I haven't been........k-kind...or...easy to be with...after what happened...I..kind of...lost myself...and I was so..upset with you...and focused on my pain...that I..sometimes took it out on you...and became... oblivious to yours... a-and I'm sorry." Asta words were slow...as if taking time to carefully find the correct words to say. Thinking about how to put what he was feeling into words that properly conveyed his feelings. " I see it," he said with a faint smile. "..I see how...hard your trying....and it means alot to me...It means so much to me..that I can't really put it into words even if I tried." He paused. A long moment of silence followed before he spoke again. Suddenly reaching a new thought. " T-that night.....when we..........................I...didn't mean to use you.....I don't...want you to think that...." He bit his lip, squeezing Leon's hand. " I...I get it now..." He understood that both of them were effected that day. Both of them were hurting. Both of them were trying. Both of them were struggling. Both of them were adapting and learning and most importantly...both of them still wanted to be together, that they still loved each other... Or at least...thats what Asta was hoping. " t-theres just...so much i want to...apologize for...." He looked up at Leon. He wanted to apologize but he also wanted to thank him. ------------------------------- Ray took notice in Sora's demeanor, he was anxious, fidgety, with a heart rate of 150. You think the kid was in the middle of exercising. He was extremely attentive, taking the time to baby Fang and give him his jacket to use as a pillow. Ray had just tossed Fang in the back like a sack of potatoes with little care or much thought. I mean... he wasnt human. And the way Sora kept glancing back, catching glimpses of Fang as if he'd suddenly dissappear without any warning...Ray found it rather interesting. [“I didn’t steal—” ] Ray glanced over at the kid. His ears perked. Whatever he was going to say must of hit a brick wall, because Sora introduced himself instead. [ “I am Sora.. I don’t know what Fang has told you. But..he bite me.. and that is ruining his life.”] Ray was surprised by that last part, but he didnt respond. [ “What’s happening to him. Can it be because of stress?”] Ray sighed, shaking his head, " I reckon its from alot of things. " Was his only comment. They drove in silence for a few more minutes before Ray pulled up behind a old looking building. "We're here." He smiled. He climbed out of the truck and lazily grabbed Fang from the bed, tossing him over his shoulder with one arm and walking towards the back door of the building. Inside was a small office space. A desk and computer, scattered papers, books, knickknacks, and dirty dishes. But there was a counter that was fairly clean with a old cash register and safe hidden underneath. Past the counter you could see the store, rows and aisles of organized junk. Some things were encased in glass, locked with a key. Some things were old...and other things ancient in today's morden world, there was a staircase that lead to the second floor where Ray lived, and it was probably as disorganized and hectic as his store...and yet...there was something so welcoming and homey about it. Even the dust on the shelves seemed like it was ment to be there. The cob webs in the corner were huge...but if asked why they were there Ray would answer, "They ain't bothering anybody," Ray gently put Fang on the old black leaver couch in his office, and pulled up a wooden style chair for Sora. There was no feng shui, design or style in this room or the store. Nothing matched...it was like entering a room from different moments of time. " Have a seat." Ray offered as he started searching the room for something. "Fang just pushed himself a little too hard... that ain't nothing new." He tried to reassure Sora as he opened a closet with a massive refrigerator inside. Ray opened the fridge to reveal all sorts of liquid bags and needles inside, as well as test tubes and what any sain person would call...shady shit. He grabbed a clear IV bag and shut the door before moving over to Fang. He worked quickly, taking Fangs arm and placing the needle in his forearm before hanging the bag on a clothes hanger made of wire. This wasnt a hospital and it wasnt medical grade A equipment...but it got the job down. " Some fluids...help him feel better." He reassured Sora, seeing the uneasiness of it all on his face. Ray grabbed a old hand-made hideously old fashioned quilt from a shelf and tossed it over Fang before grabbing a old office chair that reclined, and took a seat. There was a small mini fridge underneath the counter, and thats where Ray pulled out a a bottle of beer. "You want one?" He asked being cordial, but knowing the answer. " Suit yourself." He popped open the bottle using the store counter and sighed taking a much deserved sip. " Judging from your face, Im guessing he hasn't told you much..." He took another sip of his beer. " What do you know about US. About werewolves and him." He muttered, pointing over to Fang. @M-jow

I bought it on semi-impulse about a week ago, and I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm about halfway through, and I love the 2 main characters' dynamic. As far as I can tell, it's not too similar to Room No. 9. I'll see as I keep playing though! I'd upload it here if I knew how! However, I do encourage people to buy it if they have the money. Hearing him talk about Noah was making a knot in his stomach that hasn't been there moments ago. He should have thought about this stingy feeling that he would have when asking Asher about Noah. It was painful but the good memories sometimes helped with the grief. Or so he heard. Kaito lingered in the doorway for a moment, watching the way the firelight caught along the edges of Asher’s shoulders all tension and control barely holding together. He stepped closer, slow and careful, until he was within reach. The second glass sat there between them, amber light rippling across it. After a beat, he took it. The whiskey bit sharp at first sip, burning its way down like truth. “…He sounds like someone worth knowing,” Kaito said quietly. His voice didn’t try to soothe; it just was, a steady thing against the ache in the air. “The way you talk about him, it’s not just loyalty. It’s respect. That’s rarer than either of us would like to admit.” He set the glass down beside Asher’s, fingers brushing the rim. “Noah had a way of seeing things people didn’t. Maybe that’s why he saw you clearly. Not the heir. Not the wolf. Just… you. As he did with me. Saw beyond the magic.” he said the last part in a whisper more to himself. A faint exhale left him, half a laugh without the humor. “And for what it’s worth, he wasn’t wrong. You do look like a man who doesn’t know how to breathe unless he’s running from something. Which i'm pretty sure it doesn't happen too often.” Kaito looked past Asher to the window, to the sprawling city below that pretended it wasn’t full of ghosts. His jaw tightened. “You’re right to want justice. But don’t lose what he saw in you chasing it. That’s what he changed, right? The way you looked at yourself.” His tone softened. “Don’t let whoever did this take that, too.” For a long moment, he just stood there, watching the reflection of the two of them — one lost in memory, the other trying to anchor him to the present. Then, quieter still: “When you go after them, I’m coming with you. Not because you need me,” he said, glancing sidelong at Asher, “but because Noah deserved at least two people who won’t let his story end like this.” He lifted the glass again, tilting it toward Asher in a silent toast. “For him,” he murmured, then took another sip, the fire crackling softly in the pause that followed. "Try at least to get some sleep. I know its hard but … It will not do you any good if you're tired" he said leaving the glass on the small table and return to his room to try and sleep again. (Two days later) Kaito blinked up from the couch where he’d been half-lost in his own notes, one leg folded under him, the faint hum of the refrigerator filling the pause between them. Shopping? The word sounded almost foreign coming from Asher. He set the papers aside, watching the alpha’s shoulders , all taut muscle and restraint wrapped in something that almost looked like uncertainty. That alone was enough to make Kaito’s mouth twitch. “…You?” he said after a moment, tone dry but not unkind. “The same Asher who keeps three identical black shirts in rotation and calls it efficiency? You’re volunteering for a mall?” The corner of his mouth lifted, more in surprise than mockery. “That I have to see.” He stood, stretching until his spine popped, eyes still fixed on Asher. Beneath the teasing, there was a flicker of something warmer. The kind of quiet gratitude that didn’t need to be spoken too directly or it might vanish. “Thanks,” he added finally, softer this time. “For thinking about it.” He raked a hand through his hair, exhaling through his nose. Truth is, he didn’t have to. After everything, it still throws me that he notices small things like that. But then he caught the look in Asher’s eyes ; the kind that wasn’t really about clothes or errands, but about the need to do something normal for once, something human. Kaito’s tone eased. “Still… if it gets you out of this room for a bit, I’m in”, he said nodding. “Alright,” added Kaito , clapping his hands together and then slinging his jacket over his shoulder. “But just so we’re clear ... if we end up in some overpriced boutique and they try to sell me something with sequins, I’m blaming you.” He brushed past Asher toward the door, glancing back once. “And maybe, while we’re out,” he said lightly, “you can grab something that isn’t black for once. You know, for the sake of variety. I promise not to tell your pack the alpha owns a gray shirt.” The grin that followed was small but real, the kind that tugged briefly at the weight hanging in the air, if only for a moment.
