Sora barely had time to react before the space above Vanitas rippled and folded in on itself. One second there was only air, the next a dark, shimmering portal yawned open like a tear in the world. Cool energy washed over Sora’s skin, raising goosebumps along his arms as something small dropped out of it. When V handled him that tiny furry thing. He instinctively reached forward. The little fox landed against him with a soft, startled squeak, its weight lighter than he expected. Warm. Very warm. Snow-white fur brushed his hands, impossibly soft, traced through with glowing blue markings that pulsed faintly, almost like breathing light. Two fluffy tails flicked behind it as it scrambled, tiny paws gripping at his shirt. “Oh—hi there,” Sora murmured without thinking. The fox immediately went to work inspecting him as if he were the most fascinating thing it had ever encountered. Its nose pressed everywhere at once—his collarbone, his jaw, the side of his neck—before it climbed him with surprising confidence. Sora laughed softly, one hand hovering uncertainly near it, afraid the little creature would fall. Bright blue eyes stared back at him, intelligent and curious, before the fox chirped again and rubbed its head under his chin. Warmth bloomed in Sora’s chest, quick and unexpected. It wrapped its tails around his neck like a scarf, light but secure, settling there as if it had always belonged. Sora froze, then slowly relaxed when it didn’t move away. The fox’s fur tickled his skin, and he could feel its steady heartbeat through the contact. “Oh wow…” he whispered, eyes wide. “You’re… really friendly.” Vanitas’s voice cut in, amused and clearly pleased. “Told you.” Sora glanced toward him, still holding very still so he wouldn’t disturb the fox. “He’s beautiful,” he said honestly. “I’ve never seen anything like him.” Carefully, he lifted one finger and brushed it along the fox’s head. The creature leaned into the touch immediately, letting out a tiny, content sound that made Sora’s smile soften. He was painfully aware of Fang beside him—the steady presence at his side, the familiar warmth—but Sora didn’t look away from the fox. Instead, his thoughts raced ahead, practical and instinctive in a way that surprised even him. Diet. Habitat. Stress. Compatibility. The way the fox’s ears twitched at distant sounds suggested heightened awareness, not fear. Healthy. Alert. “You said his name was… Yoki?” Sora asked. Vanitas nodded. “That’s his kind. Names are… flexible.” Sora huffed a quiet laugh. “Figures.” He shifted slightly, testing his balance. Yoki adjusted immediately, tails tightening just enough to stay secure. That alone made something click into place in Sora’s mind. He looked down at his hands, then back at the fox. “If,” he began carefully, choosing his words, “if he stays… I’d want to take care of him right.” He smiled faintly at the fox, who blinked back at him. "Aside from being a supernatural creature is there anything special he'll need? Does he eat regular pet food or?" He had to ask cause he knew nothing about this. He also knew very little about foxes and had never seen a real one before. Sora glanced up, meeting Fang’s gaze. Fang looked pissed—his jaw tight, his expression hard—but there was something beneath the irritation that never quite crossed into outright anger. Sora could guess why. A pet wasn’t like a person; it demanded time, patience, and constant care. It was a responsibility that couldn’t be ignored or set aside when things got complicated. Still, after V had explained it all, Fang seemed to understand the appeal, even if he didn’t fully agree with it. Sora knew he would take good care of the small creature—he was certain of that—but the thought of Fang resenting the decision twisted uncomfortably in his chest. They had only just managed to patch things up, and even that had been rough around the edges. Now, though, Sora understood what lay beneath most of their problems. It wasn’t anger or pride—it was fear, and the weight of responsibility neither of them had ever really learned how to share. The fox shifted again, pressing closer to Sora’s neck, as if deciding the matter for all of them. Sora exhaled, a slow breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He reached up, cupping Yoki gently so he wouldn’t slip. “…I've never had a pet before,” he said quietly, “but I belive I can take good care of him.. but not if you are against it. Your opinion matters to me too." Sora looked at Fang, not trying to push him, cause heaven knew, he'd pushed Fang’s state of mind so far today.

Fang paused as he felt Sora's plam aginest his lips, cutting him off as he interjected. He frowned hearing Sora tell them not to ignore him. He thanked Vanitas for both their sakes. Knowing Fang was too stubborn to do so outloud. He rolled his eyes, just as Sora removed his hand, giving him a smile. Fang sucked his teeth in disproval but couldn't be mad at his mate...so instead, he sulked. Vanitas was suprised to hear and see Sora stand up for himself. The way he carried himself was rather fascinating to V. When Sora called him a good friend. He tilted his head to the side in confusion. (A good friend?) No one had ever referred to him as such, not even Fang. Infact Fang wasnt the type to dote on friendships, at least not the Fang he currently knew. [ "Don't expect Fang to say it himself, but he is greatful." ] "..yes..." he muttered, witnessing how the two love birds shared a look. This version of Fang...he didn't know. He was actually far more tame now and the werewolf had been so terrified just a few hours ago, on the verge of breaking down should Sora reject him, a side of Fang he never witnessed before. What was it like? To be so reliant on another person..and a powerless human at that. Sora was more self aware and mature then he expected. To be honest, Vanitas was relieved that his preconception of Sora was wrong. [ "How about some breakfast?... or would it be dinner for you? Given you travled from the other side of the world, I'm not sure"] Hearing Sora's question pulled him out of his thoughts. His happy-go-lucky, playboy, persona returning once more. " You're a doll, and such manners ~" He smiled, " I appreciate the offer, truly...but I have some other matters to attend to." " oh no. what. a. shame." Fang muttered his tone dripping with sarcasm. Vanitas ignored him and kept his eyes on Sora. "But, If you wish to thank me, there is a way..." Vanitas snapped his fingers and a black portal emerged above his head, from the portal a small white fox with blue lines and two tails fell from the space, landing on his shoulder. The creature had bright blue eyes, and appeared soft to the touch and it was about the size of a small cat weighting about 6 pounds. Fang bit his lip, already not liking where this was going. " I won this little guy in a bet, and unfortunately he doesn't get along with the pets I currently have at home, that and he might get eaten by the bigger animals if I'm not looking." "Hell no--" Fang started, but Vanitas quickly cut him off. " Before you say no, and rip out my throat, let me say this.~ This little guy might be useful to you. Yoki come in many different shapes and sizes with unique abilities. He can turn invisible, transform, and has decent animal instincts, like scent detection, hunting, and danger sense. I imagine dating a human is rather challenging, given your overprotective nature. You can't always be by his side, perhaps this little guy will help ease your fears. " Fang stared at his friend. Was he trying to be considerate? Fang hated pets...and Vanitas knew that...and yet, it seems he was trying to help. " I can't tell if your trying to be helpful, or piss me off." V chuckles. " Can't it be both~" The soft squeaking sound came from the tiny fox as Vanitas rubbed its head. " You covered Sora in your scent but that won't necessarily keep him out of harms way, when your not around, this little guy can look after Sora in your absence. " Vanitas grabbed the fox by the back of its neck, and handed it Sora. The Yoki immediately began to excessively sniff Sora, running up his chest and climbing on his shoulder and head, almost like an excited squirrel. " oh~ seems he's already taken a liking to you~" " I hate pets..." Fang muttered under his breath. " Of course youd say that." Fang rubbed the back of his head in frustration. What Vanitas said was true, as much as he didnt want to accept it. In all honesty a pet could fix alot of their problems and ease his anxiety. Fang wouldn't trust another person near Sora, and if this fox could stand up to another supernatural creature, and protect Sora should something happen then.... ( Damn it...) He sighed. His mate was a sucker for an animal in need. Supernatural or not and given his kindess, attention to detail, and veterinarian skills, Sora was honestly a perfect fit. Fang crossed his arms and turned to Sora, seeing how the fox was immediately warming up to him. It nuzzled into his chin, resting on his shoulder and wrapping its soft fluffy tails around his neck for support and stability. This would soon become the creatures favorite place to be. " ...Its up to you...if you wanna keep it...you can.." "Wow- just like that?! I never thought I'd see the day you let someone else decide something for you. You big softy~" "Shut up."
