Julius pinched the bridge of his nose, not because he was annoyed. But he had to, to hold in the laughter threatening to slip out and undo his attempt at a serious face. Yukie was off the rails in the most gloriously extra way. This was their wedding, all right. Perfect chaos was so much up their ally. He let his gaze drift to the bouquet again, now in a box that somehow made it look even worse. How was that even possible? It sat there, smug and sparkling like it knew it was destined for a theatrical finale. And Yukie… Julius could still feel his fiancé’s eyes on him, practically vibrating with anticipation, waiting to see if Julius would go along with it. Of course he would. But the plan neededto changea littlefor it to work. Julius turned his head to face Yukie again, his expression unreadable at first. Then slowly, a sly smile began to bloom. Not quite mischievous, but calculated. The kind of smile that meant he was planning something. “You could~ throw it at Yumro,” he began carefully, arms folding across his chest as he pretended to weigh the idea seriously. “But,” Julius continued, lowering his voice like he was letting Yukie in on some secret plot, “Yumro is going to see it coming from a mile away. He’s not going to let it happen. Especially if he knows you’re aiming for him. He’ll duck. Or vanish. Or catch it mid-air and throw it back.” Julius leaned a little closer, his smile now curving with a quiet satisfaction. “But if you aim for Haruhi instead…” He trailed off just long enough to let the implication land. Yumro, for all his aloofness, was defenseless when it came to Haruhi. Protective to a fault. Haruhi so much as sneezed and Yumro was there with tea, a blanket, and an emergency exit plan. If that glitter bomb went airborne in his direction? There was no way Yumro would just sit there and watch it hit. “He’ll intervene,” Julius said simply, eyes twinkling with amusement. “He’ll take the hit. On instinct. Especially if he thinks you are acting reckless... let’s be honest, it isn’t that hard to believe.” He glanced at the box again, then back at Yukie, now fully grinning. “You get your dramatic toss. The bouquet lands exactly where you wanted it. That’s how you immortalize a wedding tradition.” Julius gave a content little shrug, satisfied with the suggestion. Not only did did Yumro get to save Haruhi hos mate from getting glittered. It made the entire situation even more theatrical than Yukie had probably planned. Besides, he could already picture Yumro in the aftermath, absolutely drenched in glitter. The demon was always so uptight around them. He needed to lossen up a little. ------------------------- Shan blinked up as he looked through the ceiling, his legs gently swinging off the side of the matress, his feets brushing the wooden floor. Haru’s voice drifted over from beside him, half-muffled by pillows. [“I always wondered if fathers were always like that? You know.”] Shan tilted his head, thoughtful. The room felt warm but comfortable, like the inside of a giant blanket fort. Moonlight spilled across the pillows and floorboards, the air still scented faintly with the dinner they'd eaten. He hummed softly in response, a sound that wasn’t quite an answer. Then he rolled over onto his stomach, propping himself up on his elbows and peeking sideways at Haru. “Yumro’s like a storybook dad,” he said matter-of-factly, voice light and a little amused. “Like the kind who makes pancakes shaped like animals and always knows where the lost sock went.” He paused, tapping his chin with one finger. He thought it over before, flopping back onto his pillow with a soft thud. He wasn’t used to stuff like this either. He hadn’t grown up the way people did. He was shadow after all half-thought, half-instinct, no body, no feelings. But now? Now he had a name. A warm home with people he liked. A favorite plushy (the black bunny with purple ribbon). And Haru. Especially Haru. Around Yumro, Shan was careful and made sure to be well-behaved, polite, even a little shy sometimes. But when it was just him and Haru, things were different. He talked and laughed more. Sometimes he said things just to see if he could get Haru to smile a certain way. He didn’t really know why. It just felt… nice. He peeked over again, eyes catching the light as he watched Haru burrow deeper into the pillows. “are you disapointed he didn’t give you any forehead kisses?” Shan asked suddenly, half teasing. “Because you totally look like you wanted one.” He stuck his tongue out, playful, but not mean. Just trying to keep the warm, sleepy mood from turning too heavy. Then he yawned big, and flopped onto his back again with a soft “whump.” “I think it’s nice too,” he said, quieter now, fingers laced together over his stomach. “Being here. With you. And everyone.” The silence that followed wasn’t awkward. It was peaceful. He grinned into his pillow. Just above them were countless of soft glowing stares, and the quiet comfort of not being alone. He started to drift off slowly, tucking the blanket up around himself. Not cause he was cold it was just felt more safe and made his inner calm. ---------------- Yumro arched an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his eyes as Haruhi delivered his answer with all the smug theatricality he could muster. Of course. He wouldn’t expect anything less. “Dramatic bridal carry it is,” Yumro said under his breath with mock gravity, as if accepting a sacred mission. He stepped forward with slow, deliberate purpose. Like a stage performance. He placed his hands slipped under Haruhi with practiced ease, one arm behind his back, the other beneath his knees, and in one smooth motion, he lifted him up. He struck a dramatic pose, one knee slightly bent, back arched, gaze turned toward the heavens. Like a tragic opera hero carrying his beloved through the final act. And then he sang. Not exactly beautifully, or even on key. But with enthusiasm, commitment, and just enough theatrical flourish to echo off the walls. ~“OHHH, MY LOVE IS FRAGILE, YET BOLD AS THE FLAAAAME— CARRIED THROUGH HALLWAYS OF DESTINY, BY A MAN WITH NO SHAME— FOR LOVE, I WILL STRIDE! THROUGH DOORWAYS! THROUGH NIGHT! FOR THE ONE WHO DARES CLAIM MY PILLOWS EACH NIIIGHT!”~ He dipped low in the hallway, nearly bumping Haruhi’s head against a doorway on purpose, purely for the drama. His voice dropped to a romantic murmur as he continued, voice barely above a whisper so he wouldn't wake the boys upstairs. ~“So rest, precious darling, my treasure, my star… While I carry you awkwardly, and not all that far...”~ Yumro nudged open the bedroom door with his foot and stepped inside, the warmth of the room washing over them both A final note, high and off-key, echoed inside the bedroom. Sounding like a dying bird. And then his weird song faded into silence. His strong arms, shifted with more care now, as he approached the bed. He laid Haruhi down on the bed, gently like he was something sacred. Fingers trailing down Haruhi’s back slowly before drawing his hand away. One knee pressed gently into the edge of the mattress as he reached up to adjust the pillows beneath Haruhi’s head, coaxing them into shape. "Did my singing make you fall in love with me all over again?" He aske with a sly grin playing on his lips as he looked down at Haruhi from above. He was actually curious for Haruhi reaction as he'd never ever sung to him before. He knew he had sounded awful and wouldn't feel disapointed if Haruhi didn’t like it. He hadn't expected Haruhi to. It was just to humor them both.
