Asher smiled as Logan welcomed Kaito into the pack, and more importantly, accepted that Kaito would be part of Asher’s future. “I’d prefer to introduce Kaito to our parents myself, then the rest of the pack when we are ready. For now, this stays between us,” Asher explained. “I’m not saying you can’t tell your mate—just make sure she knows not to pass it on. It’s still quite new for both of us.” He didn’t want to put any pressure on Kaito or rush him into something he wasn’t ready for. They hadn’t even shared their first kiss yet, so no—they weren’t ready for the bond. Even if Asher couldn’t stop thinking about it. He straightened slightly. “If the mages escalate, they won’t wait long,” he said. “They probably already know Kaito is here with me. That means probing attacks, maybe attempts to destabilize us from the outside.” Logan nodded, already thinking several steps ahead. “I’ll call a council meeting tomorrow. Limited attendance—only elders we trust to keep their mouths shut.” “Good.” Asher replied, looking to Kaito if he wanted to say something. “Rooms in the east wing are free. Close to yours… unless you’re sharing your suite?” Logan said while looking between the two. Asher didn’t comment. He hadn’t thought that far ahead, but the idea of Kaito staying anywhere else didn’t sit right with him. There was a spare bed in his suite, after all. The wolf inside him approved it. He subtly shifted his stance, positioning himself between Kaito and the door. “As for Kaito’s training,” Asher continued, “I’ll handle it personally—at least at first. Whatever happens, we’ll figure it out. It’s better to learn control with an alpha you trust.” Logan gave him a long look. “You’re sure you can be objective?” Asher met his gaze evenly. “Maybe not. But I’ll take better care of my mate than anyone else can.” That earned him a short, humorless laugh from Logan. “Fair enough.” “And we’ll deal with it if any mages shows up,” Asher said finally, his voice low and certain. “One step at a time. No reckless charges. No heroics.” he said loud enough so both heard him. Logan raised a brow. “That coming from you?” Asher allowed himself a faint smile. “I’m evolving.” Logan snorted, then sobered. “Go, get out of here. Both of you. Tomorrow’s going to be long, and if nothing I'll see you both around dinner time.” Asher nodded. As they left the office and stepped back into the warm, living heartbeat of the pack house, he placed a steadying hand at Kaito’s back. After a moment, Asher slowly lowered it till he touched Kaito’s hand and gently took it into his, while looking at Kaito for any discomfort. “Want to take a small tour of the place?”

Sora had so much weighing on his heart that he didn’t know how to stop talking once he began. He needed Fang to hear every word, to understand exactly what Sora thought of him and to know that none of it changed the way he felt. If anything, it only deepened it. He couldn’t believe one person could be forced to carry so much grief and anger for so long. No one should ever have to endure that kind of pain, especially not a child. The realization made his chest ache. Tears slipped free despite his effort to hold them back, streaking down his cheeks as he spoke. Knowing what Fang had suffered so much loss. Every moment of fear tore at Sora’s heart until it felt raw. In the memories he had seen, Fang had been so small. So alone. Sora had wanted nothing more than to reach into those moments, to pull that boy into his arms and shield him from everything that followed. But he couldn’t. Nothing could return Fang’s family, and nothing could fully erase the damage left behind by years of cruelty. The scars on Fang’s body told only part of the story. Yhey were proof of what had once been visible. The deeper wounds, the ones buried inside, were the hardest of all. Those were the ones that never seemed to stop bleeding. Fang stopped him suddenly, cutting off his words by grabbing the back of Sora’s head and pulling him close. Their lips met in a fierce, desperate kiss. Fang kissed him like Sora was air, like he had been holding his breath for far too long and had finally found relief. He pulled Sora in as if letting go might break him. Sora felt the uneven rhythm of their hearts pounding between them, fast and tangled together. He was already holding Fang as tightly as he could, his arms locked around him, knuckles whitening with the effort. In that moment. Sora leaned into the kiss, eyes closed, grounding himself ss his thoughts fell away. There was no past, no pain that couldn’t be fixed. Only Fang, him warm and real in his arms When Fang finally pulled back just enough to speak, Sora opened his eyes. Their gazes locked, and everything unspoken hung quietly between them. A small smile tugged at the corner of Sora’s mouth—not because anything was funny, but because, for the first time, he felt certain his words had truly reached Fang. The tension that had weighed so heavily on him seemed to drain away as he sensed the relief rolling off Fang’s shoulders. Even without the heightened instincts Fang possessed as a werewolf, Sora could still read him well enough—at least when Fang didn’t deliberately shut himself off. To be honest, Sora hadn’t known what he was going to say at all. Nothing had been planned or rehearsed. The words had simply spilled out, guided by feeling rather than thought. And somehow, Fang had understood. The sudden sound of someone clearing their throat snapped Sora back to reality, an abrupt reminder that they weren’t alone. His head jerked up, and his gaze immediately darted away, avoiding all eye contact as his arms slowly loosened from around Fang. He felt like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Heat rushed to his face as embarrassment set in, flushed not from guilt, but from having shared something so raw in front of someone he barely knew. He stood up along side Fang, still refusing to look at anyone, until the quiet was broken by the sound of laughter. Fang and V were laughing together. The sound eased the tight knot in Sora’s chest, even as he remained rooted in place, cheeks still warm, trying to regain his composure when his eyes meet V's. Sora tilted his head, a small crease forming between his brows as if he didn’t quite understand. He wasn’t anything special, at least not in his own eyes. There were countless people in the world just like him. Still, he took V's words for the compliment they were. And allowed himself to accept it, with a warmth settling in his chest. Sora just looked at the two not really getting what the argument really was about but since they dragged his name into it he didn’t really care for them talking over his head. So Sora reached up to press his left palm up to Fang’s mouth. To make his boyfriend shut up for a moment while he looked a Vanitas as he spoke. "Don't talk like I'm not standing here. The human can speak for himself. However I feel like it’s more us who owns you a gift, rather that the other way around.. I don't know how to thank you Vanitas. For coming all of this way, you are a good friend. Don't expect Fang to say it himself, but he is greatful." Sora gave Fang a sweet innocent smile. He wasn’t humiliating him in any way. Just saying the things Fang wouldn’t himself. He lowered his hand to let Fang sulk if he wanted to do just that. "How about some breakfast?... or would it be dinner for you? Given you travled from the other side of the world, I'm not sure"
