I Wish You A Wonderful Day!

. . Have A Wonderful Day - Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR Just in case nobody does say Have a wonderful day If you're at work and all the world seems to be at play Smile your work away If you're having trouble and it feels like double Do a good turn for someone else and ease their worried mind I think a little happiness you will find when you make an effort to be kind And someone else you might remind that there is hope among humankind If you're at school and you don't feel like you belong Keep in your heart a song Do your best as you sing along All your troubles and worries are here now but won't be long Someday soon you'll find a place you seek Exactly where you've belonged all along So in case nobody else would say I wish you a happy wonderful day All your worries and sadness wished away Today it's going to be better Find a little beauty in your day

Alexander felt the moment slipping through his fingers. Alistair’s words echoed in him, frantic and raw, layered with resignation that made his chest ache. Use me. Seal me. Kill me when I’m no longer useful. No. No. That wasn’t mercy. That was just another cage, another execution delayed. Alex looked at him, really looked. The shaking hands. The blood at his lips. The way the mountain itself rejected him like poison. This wasn’t a monster cornered into bargaining. This was someone who had reached the end of himself and was asking to end it. But not because he wanted to be erased but because he had no other choice. He listened to the hurried words, to the desperation tucked beneath the logic. To the way Alistair framed his own life as a currency already spent. Each sentence landed like a bruise and Alexander’s chest tightened, confusion blooming sharp and painful behind his ribs. This was surrender. And it terrified him. “Alistair…” he started, then stopped. He didn’t know which part to respond to first. The curse he mentioned. The way Alistair spoke of redemption like a childish fantasy Alex had foolishly planted in his head. What have I done to you? he wondered, guilt coiling in his stomach. What hope did I give you that hurt this badly to lose? He shook his head slowly, blond hair catching the dim light between the trees. “I’m not going to use you,” he said, voice steady despite the storm inside him. “And I’m not going to keep you like a weapon or prisoner waiting to be discarded.” That thought alone made him sick. But the priests were coming. He could feel them now, their intent, prayers empowering the wards, fury tightening like a net along the path. There was no time to argue philosophy or untangle curses. He had to act. Think, Alex. Think. His gaze flicked over Alistair and then it clicked. A risky and reckless thought. But it felt right. This is it, he thought. It should work, he thought as his eyes light up a little with hope. “I can anchor you,” Alex said sofly, heart pounding now. “Not as a seal or a prison… but as a ward.” The idea was half doctrine, half instinct, something his teachers would call impossible and his father would call heresy. A forbidden ritual. Ink-stained pages hidden behind censored shelves. A book he’d read by candlelight when he was too young to understand why his hands shook afterward. A devotional paradox, the author had called it. A mercy ritual. A restraint born of consent and trust. Alex’s breath trembled. His entire upbringing screamed at him to stop. To step back. To let the priests finish what they started. His father’s voice lived in his bones, sharp and absolute. Demons are not saved. They are ended. But when Alex looked at Alistair again, all he saw was someone breaking. A priest may bind a demon not through dominion, but through shared burden. Blood must be given freely. Consent must be absolute. The priest becomes anchor. The demon becomes bound not by chains, but by proximity and will. When Alistair looked at him Alex continued quickly. “It binds you to me,” he said, not looking away. “If you lose control, I feel it. If you intend harm, I can interfere. And if I ever believe you truly are a danger then the bond allows me to sever you.” A paused. “It keeps you close enough that the wards read you as mine,” Alex said. “A living tether,” he murmured, more to himself now. “As an extension of my presence. Not an intruder. And you'll have your silence.” He swallowed. In the distance, footsteps, voices and hums like prays were approaching which meant they didn’t had much time. “There’s no time,” Alex whispered looking up the path but then turned to look at Alistair. “This will only work if you trust me”, he said biting his lip. “Only works if you choose it. If you consent willingly” he whispered looking worried that the demon might not accept it and he would fail to save him. “Alistair …. Do you trust me?” he asked as he drew a small ritual blade from his sleeve. His hand trembled only after the steel met his palm. Blood welled instantly, warm and bright. He turned his bleeding palm upward. “If you consent and take my hand,” he whispered, “I can protect you. I won’t force anything upon you that I know it might hurt you in any ways. You’ll be under my responsibility” he took a deep breath. “We can figure out what to do after” For a long second, Alistair didn’t move then he nodded. He mirrored Alex cuting his own palm, teeth clenched. When their hands clasped, blood slid together, dark and gold mixing as if it had always known where to go. The ritual ignited without words. Alex gasped as heat surged through his veins, not burning but warm, intimate. A presence settled into his chest, steady and vast, like an anchor dropped into deep water. He gasped as symbols flared briefly across his skin, invisible but felt, sinking beneath flesh and bone. Wards shuddered violently. Talismans cracked. The suffocating pressure vanished from Alistair in a single, shuddering breath and then the wards snapped back into place in confusion. And then … “Alexander!” His father’s voice cut through the air like a blade. The ritual sealed just as Mr. Sato emerged from the trees with the other priests, light snapping shut around Alex and Alistair like a closed circle. “What have you done?” his father demanded, eyes wide with fury and something dangerously close to fear. His eyes went immediately to their joined hands. To the blood. To the air itself bending around them. He could feel it. The bond. Alex straightened slowly, still holding Alistair upright. “I bound him to me,” he said. His voice shook, but it did not break. “By blood. By consent.” A stunned silence followed then the clearing exploded into shouting. “You performed a forbidden rite—” “How could you Young Master—” “This is outrageous—” “Enough,” Mr. Sato snapped, raising a hand. Silence fell instantly. “You used a forbidden rite,” his father said coldly. “You endangered the temple.” “No,” Alex replied. “I took responsibility for what the temple refuses to understand.” Mr. Sato stepped closer, eyes blazing. “Undo it. Now.” Alex’s chest tightened but he didn’t look away. He met his gaze for the first time not as a son, or as an heir, but as a priest with his own convictions. “I can’t,” he said. “And neither can you.” The murmurs among the priests grew louder. They all felt it now. Alistair’s presence tethered unmistakably to Alexander’s light. “For the first time,” his father said coldly, “you chose rebellion over duty.” “No,” Alex replied. His voice shook, but it held. “I chose empathy over fear.” “You don’t understand what you’ve done.” “I understand perfectly,” Alex said. “You can’t touch him. Not without going through me.” A pause. “You taught me that faith is sacrifice,” Alex continued quietly. “That light exists to bear burdens so others don’t have to.” His hand tightened protectively at Alistair’s side. “This is mine.” His father’s jaw clenched and fire burned in his eyes. This was the first time Alex ever spoke to him like this. The first time he defied him. Mr. Sato stared at him, searching for hesitation but there was non. “…This demon is now under your watch,” Mr. Sato said slowly .“If he so much as twitches you’ll… ” his father started. “Then I answer for it,” Alex said firmly. “And I will.” A long, terrible silence followed. For the first time in his life, Alexander Sato stood against his father. He didn’t see it as defiance, but more as an unwavering mercy. For the first time he wasn’t in his father’s shadow anymore. But in his own light which protected those who needed it and requested it.
