Vanitas bit his lip, shaking his head. He had a feeling this would happen. A person's mind could only withstand so much...Fang's mind was now unstable... ( I should intervene..) He shook his head, just once. “When I bless someone who's suffering… when I calm a spirit who's been screaming in pain for decades… when I see someone breathe easier because I was there … ” His voice softened. "That part of my life is mine. No one forced that into me." Alex felt a quiet ache at that. “You call it liberation,” he continued, steady now. "But taking away lives … taking away choices so I can be free... that isn't freedom. That's just another kind of cage." He met Alistair's gaze fully then, unflinching even as the demonic pressure pressed against his senses. “I won't trade other people's lives for my comfort,” Alex said. “I won't let anyone be hurt so I can feel less alone.” There was no accusation in his voice. To be honest, Alistair didnt expect Alexander's answer to be so...twisted. He assumed that his life was perfect. That he was born with a golden spoon up his ass. Adored by all... But their are always two sides to every coin. Darkness overshadowed by the light. To hear Alexander explain to him that his existence was only to be useful and serve others was...sad. He understood how people would see his light, his soul, and think he wasn't human. The only thing that reminded him of the simple fact that he was, was his words. Alistair was a selfish demon...so the idea of simply existing for other people, sacrificing your own happiness was absurd him. In fact the idea angered him...and he felt like he'd experienced something like this before... Alexander informed him that nothing was physically stopping him from leaving, exploring, living. However there was a internal struggle. The chains of duty, obligation, and the weight of everyone's beliefs resting on his shoulders. Then, his father. Who placed duty over love. That sacrifice is faith. That way of thinking made Alistair frown in disgust. Even on holy ground, corruption always finds its way inside. Alistair hardly ever sympathized with humans, so why was Alexander's tale irritating him so much? And why didn't the priest show any sort of resentment or anger? He needed to find something to hold on too. [ “So I sneak out instead. Just to remind myself that the world exists beyond incense and scripture. That I exist outside of prophecy and expectation."] Alistair stared at him, his head titling to the side ever so slighly as he tried to understand what he was feeling, and why Alexander's tale invoked certain emotions from him. I have more than enough money to live a lavish life. Humans only exist for my amusement now. " He looked back at Alexander searching his eyes. " Your like a precious bird trapped in a gold cage..." ( He's so bright...so beautiful...I want to...taint him...) Did he want to hurt Alexander? Or rescue him? What kind of face does he make, when he crys? If his soul is so pure, then was his body too? A dark and selfish thought, took root in his mind. What if he could have Alexander...all to himself? What kind of face would the priest make...if he freed him? There was a hint of darkness behind his eyes now. " Shall I liberate you?" That mischievous grin returning. " If the temple and its people are holding you back...should I get rid of them?" His eyes started to glow, as he slowly started to walk towards Alexander. " I can make it painless~ " He needed to show Alexander...that he wasn't worth saving...
