Chen Peng(Love is More Than A Word) (Till Death Tear Us Apart) is directing a remake of one of the four Chinese classic folktales, The Butterfly Lovers (梁山伯与祝英台) into a boy-boy love story.

Lu Zhuo as Zhu Ying Tai. So is he… potentially a male character altogether? Or a male playing a female disguised as a male? Am I confusing you or me? Regardless, he makes a beautiful female. OMGosh

 

Yang Jing Cheng as Liang Shan Bo. Born in 1996! Bahhh.

 

Lin Feng Song (Heroin) as Ma Wen Cai, second male lead. Handsome lad.

 

Booting ceremony will take place on November 25th.

 

Summary from wiki of d classic tale: The Butterfly Lovers is a sad love story. It begins with a rich daughter (Zhu Ying Tai) disguised as a man to pursue her intellectual needs at an academy. There she befriends Liang Shan Bo. They study day and night together but because Shan Bo is a gentlemanly nerd, he fails to recognize her feminine characteristics. When they see their love for each other, it’s too late as Ying Tai is forced to marry another man. Shan Bo falls critically ill and eventually dies after hearing the news. On the day of their wedding, Ying Tai sneaks off to visit his grave and begs for it to open up. Once it does, Ying Tai throws herself into the hole. The two dead love birds (Lol, sorry) become a pair of butterflies, never to be separated again.

 

No clue if d plot will be changed in this remake!

OMG FS in new BL drama.... I tought I was dreaming :In love:. Wow that guy name Lu Zhuo so pretty. He's bringing his A-game in vying for the 'Who's the Fairest in the Land' title .

Can't believe I'm saying this but...I think I'd skip this one. The tale is sad as fork and I've seen a couple of versions already. The BL won't cut it for me. Also, the acting in a lot of period / costume BL are not so great, including the two by this director (there is one period piece I'm very looking forward to and that's Fox of Liaozhai. The acting and plot is legit good). But I do like Lin Feng Song and glad he stuck round for another BL.

Actor Lu Zhuo who plays Zhu Ying Tai has been reported sick for many days and still persisted in filming. But alas, director Chen Peng and team have decided to let him rest while they replaced him with female actress Nikki Chen Meng Xi. Fans are bewildered but I think it’s a sound decision after all. I still can't believe that his 'sickness' is the main reason, it's hard to tell.. and the sudden announcement seems really suspicious for me.. (and don't make me start with the girl!!!) There must be some problem..

 

Just yesterday cheng peng also announced that next year he will make a movie version of butterfly lovers with xiaocan as yingtai.. and if google translate doesn't deceive me, he also said that it will be free.. :3 hahaha chen peng and his fudanshi soul for the win!
