What is the most important thing?

It is not any one thing, but the way all of the elements interact and come together.

 

You could have it perfect in every individual element, but if you take all of those perfect elements and mix them together incorrectly, you're just going to end up with something that had the potential to be great and ended up failing. I want the story to run smoothly, the characters to develop enough to where I can get in their head a little, the plot to unfold steadily and comprehensibly. I want everything in the story to work as a team to take amazing elements and make them into the best possible product they can be. That's what I look for in a yaoi and in any kind of media I entertain myself with.

For me, the story is really important. I don't like those "just sex" stories. They are boring with no real story. And of course, the drawing is important too.

Call me stupid, but it's the characters I focus on. You could take the well-recycled plot for most yaoi but with characters I would like and I'd be immediately hooked onto it. Though of course, I'm not always this shallow. When I know there's a good plot lurking somewhere in a yaoi, I'll watch or read it as happily as I would when I read BL with good characters.

I'll have to go for the plot, characters and art. If it has no plot, the characters are boring and the art sucks then I don't care how well-executed the sex scenes are. I just can't read it. And if the art sucks, then the sex probably isn't all that good anyway.

All of it. The art has to be great, but so does the plot. The characters have to be realistic and the sex has to be beautiful. If one area is lacking, the overall story generally falls flat and I can't fully enjoy what I'm reading.

It depends on the manga actually...I usually pay attention to the plot more than anything else..I also like it when the art stays simple(when there's too much detail it sometimes gets tiring)

ok so i think it's the plot the art and sex/kissing scenes. i would like a cute story that matches it's art and sex/kissing scenes. all of them play an important part but i also think that the character of the characters is important. i don't think that you could choose who is te most important ingredient in a yaoi manga. it's like saying that the most important thing in the cake is the chocolate or the shape of the cake . it just makes no sence. i think that a yaoi manga with all of these qualities is rare and so worth it . :cuteonion58: so long.

Well for me it's a combination of the plot and the unique beauty and characteristic of the characters that is seldom found in any other genre.

I especially adore fragile looking,more beautiful then women characters with absolute male personalities.

the sex scene, I like the hottest sex scene. including S&M. I always try to search a yaoi manga with the hot sex scene. ang I like the art and story I will search more with the same mangaka.
