Yo Ho-Ho and a cock in the arse.

Shiver my timber!

It would make me jolly if we could roger.

These are just some of the things you will hear if you join this Pervy Pirate RP.

If you wish to join this journey across the seven seas, you will need to acquaint yourself with my rules:

I don't do character sheets, so please, post your little character story below.

We can either do separate ships, or all be crew on the same ship - this will all get discussed at some point.

Matey's unfurl your sails!

Is this a group RP? Don't sail without me! I'm coming!

I want the surgeon, please, if no one's already taken it.

Yes, this will be a group RP...

and yes you can all join in - my only requirement is that you write your little character story as an "audition" (don't worry, you two already "pass" *winks*)

I thought about making a case for why I should be Captain. But technically this is Squeeze's RP, so I guess I should cede my natural and obvious position as the Captain to her, if she wants it. I actually really kind of want to be the Quartermaster. *shrugs*

I'd love to join if there are still spots open! As the Navigator/Sailing master if it's still open? I'll of course make the little description part about him too if I am still able to join this magnificent looking rp :3

Master At Arms it is,

Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links.
! You are in charge of 'boarding' parties and handling the 'swords.' Bwahahaha!

But lets not forget we all still need to write a short character story so that Captain Strict Rules knows we can write properly. (This is mostly a reminder to myself, as I cant be trusted)

Hope it's okay that i wrote a bit of his history. I tried to include everything worthwhile that you should know about him at the beginning. :)

He he, i was kinda wanting to write more....but i will leave that for the rp itself. :p

Anyway, i noticed yesterday that there were many mistakes in my post so i wanted to change it....until my internet broke that is. I clicked 'send' but my internet was like: Nope! You can't change it and tomorrow will be to late anyway. Ha ha ha.

.....i really hate my internet for that. So yeah, hope you can ignore the mistakes (there were really a lot of them) since i can't change it anymore either way. :p

So I got carried away...I know it's meant to be brief, and I did try to be brief. But yea. Contains mild sex and violence =/

Oh by the way, I don't know if this matters at all, but I'm not sure there is a specific position in the pirate ship as a cook. Apparently, cooks are typically disabled crew members who were allowed to stay on board if they can cook meals that don't kill the crew

Off I go for now.

Yeah, i noticed too. I think i was a bit to much into One Piece lately (bad idea to get ideas from that anime) but i really liked the idea of a cook but if we want to stay a bit more traditionally, then i might make Ethan a little 'housemaid' on the ship maybe. Cooking, cleaning, sewing and maybe even repairing the ship's small 'injuries'. So to say a little from everything. But if not, then i will think of another position for him, though i guess most are gone already. But hey, i wasn't planing for Ethan to be a special pirate so he might just be a simple crew member. :p

This is Squueze's RP, so it's up to her to go which way with it. So yep. We'll wait for the captain, eh. ;D

Ok... Coz we're a bit all over the place (so forgive me If i'm actually _wrong_)

Me: Captain

Raven Quartermaster

Du: Weapons Master (Bosun)

Under: Cook (maybe this is open to debate and change)

Inkomplete: (NFI - gomen, i'm horribly slack and I can't remember shit)

Monkey: Navigator - (it's a nice idea, however, in the "real" world, Officers do the navigating and stuff from the maps, sextant and stars, but this NOT the real world, so we can see what we can swing)

Apologies, I've just lost a toenail so I'm seeing pink elephants and shit... but that's it in a nutshell...

I would like to think that we would need a Surgeon, Cabin "Boy", Cook, First Mate, Carpenter.... *consults Mr Babe further*

then there be the actual "pirates" or the fighting men...

So it's all up to you. ^.^

Soo, is it alright if my character is the Navigator? Or no? It's your rp so i don't mind changing it if you don't it ^^

I wasn't trying to make up a position, I had thought a navigator was an actually position because i read (online, so, easily i could be wrong xD ) that it was, and that most navigators, or sail masters, were forced into the crew because of their ability to read and use the sextants and stars and all for knowing where they were, since not everyone can very well.

He he, if we don't have enough people in this rp, i will make my little Ethan an all-rounder.

So he will take up the job as cook (which is his main job on the boat), carpenter and maybe even the cabin boy if that one is really needed. XD

But of course only if all of us are okay with it and no one else wants to join and take the jobs. I don't want to make my Ethan to important after all. XD

And i think everyone of us can be fighters, everyone is still a pirate after all. It wouldn't hurt a pirate cook to be able to use his little knives not just in the kitchen for example.^^

But yeah, i wish you luck and a long rest to get over your lost nail. I haven't lost one yet but i imagine it really hurts (or at least gets on your nerves later on).

, as your Quartermaster it is my job to help ensure the ship has what it needs to sail and it is also my responsibility to represent the interests of the crew. In the fulfillment of that office I would like to make these suggestions and observations.

The Sailing Master (aka Navigator), which

wants to be, was the officer in charge of looking after the navigation equipment (charts, maps, instruments) and directing course. It was not necessarily uncommon for a captain or other officer to have some skill in navigating, but it was a specialized skill that typically called for a specialized officer.

's case, I think she was looking for something more along the lines of Master at Arms. Not every ship would have a Master at Arms, but in the case of ships that did, the Master at Arms was in charge of making sure that the crew members knew which side of the sword to stick people with and might act as commanding officer (below the captain of course) in boarding party situations. The Master at Arm's would also be in charge of the Armory (alone or with a what basically amounts to a blacksmith, depending on the size of the ship). Basically, the 'go to' for all things melee and small arms. The Bosun (or Botswain) on the other hand was typically charged with upkeeping the ship itself, weighing anchor, deck activities, and basically making sure the ship itself has what it needs to keep afloat.

In the matter of cooks,

, I personally think a little bit of flexibility should be allowed here. I like the idea of having someone specialized who's job this is regardless of whether or not it is historically accurate.

Other important positions that haven't been filled:

Botswain (Bosun) - Supervised ship maintenance and supply stores (only unfilled if Captain Strict Rules is going to allow Du to be the Master at Arms

Master Carpenter - cause being able to do repairs while at sea was essential

Master Gunner - In charge of the guns and powder storage. On some ships he would also perform the same functions as the Master at Arms in that he would be in charge of all large and small weapons, but in this case he would not have an active role in boarding parties because he would be busy overseeing cannon fire.

Cooper - Not exactly an necessary position, but successful captain often chose to keep a cooper on board because barrels were one of the primary forms of storage and their upkeep was important. Well maintained barrels were a must for food, water and alcohols supplies.

Sailmaker - Another luxury position, sail maker's were in charge of maintaining all the import fabric bits of the ship, the most important being the sails themselves, but also hammocks, flags, and maybe the odd bits of sewing.

Other positions:

Mates - Mates were basically apprentices to the master officers and positions. Large ships often had several. The First Mate is the captain's second in command or 'right hand.' The Quartermaster and the First Mate were often the same person and in this case I am claiming that as well.

Cabin Boys and Powder Monkeys - were positions typically held by young lads or boys. A cabin boy typically ran messages and errands for officers and on a legal boat was often a moneyed boy sent to begin learning the sea trade. Powder Monkeys on the other hand assisted the gun crews and were often treated rather poorly. It was not uncommon for them to be kidnapped and pressed into service, but if they survived long enough they often earned 'real' positions among the crew.

Able Seamen (Able Bodied Sailors) - Basic crew, the backbone of any ship. This is the bulk of the crew, you average sailor/pirate.

Riggers - These were sailors with the particular brand of crazy that made them ideal for climbing the mast and mucking about in the sails.

Gunners - Normal sailors who specialized in working with the cannons or other artillery.

The bigger the ship the more specialty positions it is likely to to have filled. These can include random luxuries like a bard, or a barber or men called 'Strikers' who specialize in hunting sea turtles and other kinds of fish to help supplement the crews diet, every man holding those kinds of non-necessary position would usually also have normal sailing duties.

These would be my recommendations are your Quartermaster, in the interests of both a smoothly running ship and the morale of your crew, oh great and benevolent Captain.

There is the matter of the ship itself, that will need addressing as well, before we can get our voyage underway.

To start, What kind of ship are we sailing?

Here is a small selection of choices for my Captain's (and the crew, of course) perusal.

Brigantine: They had two masts, four sails, and a displacement of about 150 tons. They had about 10 cannons and could house about 100 pirates.

(This was a popular choice for pirates and sea captains of the age in general, a nice mid-sized choice.)

Sloops and Schooners: Both had a 100 ton displacement and rooms for 75 pirate crew. These were smaller ships. The Sloop featured a single mast and 10 cannons. The Schooner had two masts.

(These were popular for their speed and shallow draft (allowing them to hide in shallow coastal waters that large warships couldn't enter.)

Lastly, I would bring your attention to the

Frigate In history, only a few pirates (notably, Blackbeard) were man enough to capture, and therefore command a frigate. The frigate could carry 190 men. It typically had 24 to 38 guns. The frigate featured three full masts and a raised forecastle and quarterdeck.

Courtesy of Assassin's Creed here is size comparison of a few ships.

Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links.

And this is a frigate in a modern setting to help give an idea of its actual size.

Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links.

(As a reference note, Man of War just meant 'warship' at the time and could include a number of ships of varying size and complement including the frigate. However, "the man-of-war design developed by Sir John Hawkins, had three masts, each with three to four sails, which could be up to 200 feet long and could have up to 124 guns: four at the bow, eight at the stern, and 56 in each broadside. All these cannons required three gun decks to hold them, one more than any earlier ship." [courtesy of wikipedia] Ships of that size were often slow and lacked agility though, due to their sheer size and weight.)

There are of course other ships and this is by no means a comprehensive list, you can feel free to look around some more on your own or pick one of these options. Personally I vote for the frigate, big enough to be both hardcore and intimidating, its makes us elite without stretching the bounds of believability. Since pirate ships are more or less a democracy, I hope we can pick something we are all happy with.

Which would bring us to...

What is the ship's name?

A detail, I know, but a very important one.

I look forward to everyone's input and of course our Captain's final decisions in these matters.
