Kai woke up to the smell of coffee and sunlight peeking through the window. He yawned as his eyes struggled to ajust, his body tired and alittle sore from last night's activities. He slowly sat up, scanning the room, Yukie wasnt in the bed but he could hear the shower running. ( Must be taking a shower...)

 

He rubbed the back of his neck, reaching for his phone that was charging by the bedside. He checked the time, 1:13pm. The two of them had really slept in. 

 

He sent a quick text message to his boss before setting his phone aside. When Yukie finally emerged from the shower, he stepped out of the bathroom wearing only a towel, his hair still damp, but Kai could smell the fresh minty soap radiating from his skin. 

 

"Hey," his voice soft, "come here..." 

He welcomed Yukie with open arms, pulling him close and down on top of him. He nuzzled into his neck, taking in his scent. "You smell good~," he whispered, kissing his cheek.

 

"How'd you sleep.."

Yukie blushed but nodded and walked over instantly being pulled close back into Kai’s loving arms. Taking in the gentle cuddle and the closeness Yukie smiled a little hiding away in Kai’s chest for a moment to hide how truly happy he was.

“I slept good. I can’t really remember a lot of times I was sleeping so deeply and comfortably.” Yukie admitted as he looked at Kai a little. “How about you? Did you sleep good?” Yukie asked softly as he reached up and played with Kai’s hair enjoying being close to the man he loved. After a little bit Yukie sighed as he looked at Kai a touch of sadness in his eyes as he spoke.

”I’m kinda sad we have to head back so soon. It’s been nice being together.” Yukie whispered as he frowned a little at the thought of going back to work and dealing with the fallout. Course he would be happy coming back home to Kai every night and it would ease his work until he could one day leave. “…I’ll look forward to coming home to you each day, to days off snuggled up together.” Yukie added as he imagined them snuggled together on a couch or taking evening strolls.

"Yeah," he whispered. 

 

If Kai could stop time, he'd relish in this moment with Yukie for hours. The walls that Kai spent months trying to break down were now nonexistent. The beautiful boy that he stumbled upon by chance, was now in his arms. He still remembered the day he first saw Yukie. What really caught Kai's attention was Yues sorrowful blue eyes...What had they seen? How did he see the world? 

 

Im shades of color? Or was it gray and dull like his?

 

[ ”I’m kinda sad we have to head back so soon. It’s been nice being together.” ]

 

Yukie's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He smiled alittle, creasing Yukies cheek with his thumb. "There will be more...don't you worry." He said softly, kissing his forehead after seeing him frown. He was so cute when he pouted. 

 

[ “…I’ll look forward to coming home to you each day, to days off snuggled up together.”]

 

Home?

 

After hearing that, Kai planted a kiss on Yukies lips. It was soft, but firm and when he opened his eyes to see Yukie's reaction, he quickly deepened the kiss, grabbing his neck and pulling him in closer, he slipped his tongue past his lips rather skillfully unable to stop himself. 

 

Did Yue even understand what he said? How he said it? Or the fact that hearing such a thing made him so happy. 

 

( I can hardly wait..) He thought. Closing his eyes and taking a moment to enjoy the taste of him. 

 

Perhaps....the two of them could save each other.

[ Next Day ]

 

Kai sighed as he made his way home. Yukie had brought him back home late in the evening yesterday, just in time for him to change clothes and head to work for a night shift. He was tired but Kai didn't regret a single moment he spent with Yue. Infact, he'd do it all over again. The ride back was blissful, and he enjoyed the subtle moments of Yukie tapping his leg, or squeezing his hand, taking the time to make sure he was ok and comfortable on there ride back. His attentiveness was new, but Kai didn't mind it. 

 

His job at the warehouse was grueling and exhausting to say the least, working from 8pm- 8am but for once, he was excited to come back home. He sent Yukie a quick text that he was on his way, and that he missed him before leaving work. Thankfully it was only a 25 min walk. 

 

The sun was starting to rise, and Kai found himself stopping on his walk to admire the sunrise. The sky was filled with beautiful shades of orange and pink and he could feel the gentle heat of the sun kissing his skin. When did the world start to look so colorful? Could love....change the way you see things? 

 

( I hope he's there...)

 

He smiled, continuing his walk.
