Darcy didn't interrupt the prince but shook his head in defiance while Yukie explained the decision to put him in line for the throne. He waited for the first opportunity to refuse and muttered a soft "no" as soon as the prince was finished but didn't know where to begin listing the reasons why he'd make a poor king. "I'm a bad man, you know this." He whispered to his lover holding him close, disquieted by the though of losing him the longer they spoke of the possibility. The memory of the prince deathly still and cold in his grasp lingered in the back of his mind though he wished he could forget having ever tried to harm the young man, let alone kill him. "I would ruin everything you've set right... or run back to my family and abandon the kingdom." The knight admitted, unsure if he would do more harm if he staid or if he left. "Besides, being king wouldn't make up for not having you beside me."

“If you end up killing me it would be the only chance you have to make peace with me. Taking care of my kingdom would right that wrong.” Yukie replied with a shrug as he stood up and took a deep breath. “I need something to drink. I think I pack something in the carriage. Think you could have one of your men escort me if you’re to busy?” Yukie asked wanting to avoid such a heavy topic the prince having thought about death more than he would like to admit. “I feel I could use a drink.” Yukie mumbled as he also wanted to pick out warmer clothes the manor feeling to cold.

The prince was done contemplating what would happen to his kingdom and knight if worse came to pass but Darcy lingered on the question and couldn't compose himself as easily. However when the prince moved he didn't delay and followed close behind him, unsure if the demon had fully recovered from having been poisoned. He recognized he was being overprotective but felt justified after the many assassination attempts he'd both stopped and planned himself. "I'd rather you not drink anything here... or until we find out who poisoned you." Darcy muttered but knew it was unreasonable to ask the young man not to eat or drink anything. He'd given up on interrogating the other servants straight away in favor of keeping a close eye on the prince and stood ready to escort him himself.

“Alright then what do you suggest?” Yukie asked as he looked at Darcy. “It’s going to get cold. Do you really want someone who was just poisoned out in the cold air?” Yukie added with a huff as he was starting to get aggravated by the situation.

Darcy faltered and leveled a confused look at the prince, wondering if he'd simply annoyed the young man or if their conversation had ended differently than he'd hoped and left them in an equally poor mood. "Do what you like then, I'll escort you... or take one of the guards if you'd like?"

“I’m tiered. I want to go back to a warm bed with you.” Yukie mumbled as he sighed and wrapped the blanket more tightly around himself. “I-I’m sorry….this is all just a lot.” Yukie admitted the poor demon having had enough of a rough night. “I still feel off and it’s hard when I can’t trust anyone.” Yukie whispered as tears started falling down his face the poor demon having been pushed quite a bit by the events.

-"You can trust me." Darcy assured the prince though he worried the demon would argue that promise and with good reason. He reached out to lightly touch his cheek and only remembered the other guards long enough to spare the men a glance and reassure himself the prince was well protected here.

“I’m sure I can trust you the most.” Yukie replied as he chuckled and rolled his eyes before moving past Darcy. “You may escort me down to the carriage. I wish to get changed.” Yukie ordered Darcy as he huffed in annoyance in front of the guards to keep up his royal prince act.
