[Guest Kotorichan]

Advyk looked up at the sound of the knock. "Yes?" He called out.

Nivair rose to his feet and opened the door, blinking when he saw Vaughn. "Ah..." He stepped back and gestured for him to enter.

[Guest syaoran-puu]

Vaughn stepped in and bowed. “Please forgive the intrusion, your highness. My master has requested a meeting after breakfast tomorrow. If that suits you? He apologises that it might mean delaying Mr Blacks training for a little while.”

 

He watched him a moment. “Is that acceptable?”

[Guest Kotorichan]

"That is acceptable." Advyk smiled at him. "I'm sure Mr. Black can handle waiting for a bit..."

He paused for moment. "There is something I forgot to say when we spoke earlier. Would you be able to spare a few moments?"

[Guest syaoran-puu]

Vaughn nodded, “I will inform Prince Ceriesti.” He prepared to leave but stopped when Advyk spoke.

 

Vaughn instantly nodded, “of course, Prince Advyk. What did you forget to discuss?” He kept his tone friendly, but he was beyond curious.

Nivair quietly shut the door behind Vaughn and stood aside.

"I know that you don't want to tell me the details of your relationship with Ceriesti..." Advyk's gaze was intense. "But I do want to ask you to consider what affect your relationship is having on him, whatever it is. Do you think that you are adding unnecessary stress or do you think you are helping him?"

[Guest syaoran-puu]

“I believe the Prince intends to talk to you about that...” he said pointedly.

 

Vaughn was quiet. “I would like to think I am helping. At times I fear I’m not. But.... if not for my presence.... the Prince would be alone with brutality. That is surely crueler.” He hoped. There had been doubt in his heart though recently.

 

“Nothing you say can make me abandon him. Only he has that power.”

[Guest Kotorichan]

Advyk smiled, his expression becoming gentle. "I do not wish for you to abandon him. I just want to make sure that you are putting his wellbeing first and not just considering your own comfort." He rose to his feet. "If you are helping him then I am satisfied. That is all I needed to say."

Vaughn frowned. He wasn’t sure why Advyk was interfering so much... and while he didn’t want to think that Advyk had power over him, he knew he had Ceries ear. He could whisper and Ceries might follow his advice.

 

“I only ever want what is best for my Prince. I will only ever protect him. As is my job and honour as his personal guard.” He gave Nivair a pointed look before leaving. His heart was racing as he headed to the kitchen.

"Good." Advyk hummed.

Nivair frowned slightly at the look, he didn't understand what Vaughn was trying to say. Nivair escorted Advyk to the guest room again before excusing himself and going to find Vaughn.

Vaughn arranged for a snack and a pot of tea to be made for Ceries before noticing another presence. He turned to spy Nivair. “Ah. Does Prince Advyk require something? My apologies for not checking before I left.”

"Ah, nothing right now." Nivair bowed his head slightly. "Thank you though..."

He hesitated for a moment. "If you have some time later today, I wanted to ask if you would care to spar with me?" He felt a bit awkward asking him to talk, especially when he appeared to be busy.

“Spar with your?” Vaughn grinned. “It’s been a long time since we did that. I’d love to.” He said honestly. “Your tricks always keep me on my toes.” Ceries didn’t need him until late tonight. “After dinner perhaps? Or do you want to try sooner so we have more light?”

Nivair smiled, relieved that Vaughn didn't seem angry with him. "It's up to you, although I'll have more of an advantage the later it gets." He chuckled softly. "So I suppose it depends on how confident you're feeling."

“I can take you old man.” He laughed. Vaughn knew that wasn’t entirely true but, “I’m stronger than I used to be. After dinner.”

 

He watched the other man a moment then reached for a freshly baked cookie. “Here. In case you need the energy.” He winked with a chuckle.

"If you think you can handle it." Nivair grinned. "Just promise not to cry if I best you too badly."

He took the cookie and smiled. "Thanks, I'll see you at dinner." He said before disappearing into the shadows.

“I won’t cry.” Vaughn chuckled. “My pride might be wounded but I’ll survive.” He winked.

 

He watched him go before frowning. When had things got so complicated? Nivair wasn’t a man of too many words. Advyk had never appeared so nosey before. Brenton was just Brenton. And his previous Ceries? Appeared to have two different personalities....

 

He sighed, gathering the tray of things for the Prince and heading to the office. He knocked, “your highness? It’s Vaughn. I have your tea tray....” he waited.

Ceries was focusing on his work, he barely glanced up when he heard Vaughn's voice. "Come in." He called out. He finished writing one sentence and paused before setting down his pen, reminding himself that he had promised to try to take more breaks.

Vaughn pushed inside and placed the tray down. “A light reprieve, as promised.”

 

He sat opposite him and smiled. “You seem to have been productive? Do you have much left?”

[Guest Kotorichan]

"Thank you." Ceries smiled and took a sip of tea. He leaned back in his seat with a soft sigh. "There's a lot that I could work on... But only a few things that I have to do today..." He paused for a moment. "Ah... Was the jeweler coming today or was that tomorrow? I'm losing track of the days..."

“Today.... but I’ve not heard anything yet. They were due already... perhaps they were delayed? I can go find them if you wish? Bring them directly here?” He offered.

[Guest Kotorichan]

"If you wouldn't mind, although I would prefer to wait until I'm finished with me break. I'd like to spend some time with you... If it isn't too much trouble..." Ceries looked away, blushing softly at his own words. "We're you able to talk to Prince Advyk about tomorrow..?"

[Guest syaoran-puu]

“It can wait. Enjoy your break.” Vaughn smiled gently. Not moving from his seat.

 

“I did.” Vaughn nodded. “He said that’s fine. He also asked if I believe I am helping or hindering you. He seems to be extremely curious about this and protective of you....” he offered carefully. “I am going to spar with Nivair later. But I’ll be done to come to your aid this evening.”

"Thank you..." Ceries smiled shyly. "Would you like to have some tea with me?"

He blinked in surprise at the man's words. "Ah... I see..." He frowned slightly and took a bite of his snack. "I hope that I can relieve some of his concerns when we speak tomorrow, he may be worried that your feelings for me could cause problems now that Brenton is... Here..." He sighed.

“Perhaps.... or maybe he’s worried about what he’s said to Brenton and how he might have just offered Nivair up to the snake.” Vaughn shook his head. “I’ve never seen Prince Advyk like this before.... its strange.”

 

The shifter paused for a time then asked; “do you believe I am help you?” He needed to check.

Ceries poured Vaughn a cup of tea and handed it to the man. "Perhaps... Although it doesn't seem like he has any sort of deal with Brenton, so he could always back out."

He gave a gentle smile and rose to his feet, walking over to Vaughn. He leaned down and caught the man's lips in a gentle kiss. "You help me more than you could possibly imagine..." He murmured against the man's lips. "I really don't think I would be able to get through all of this without you by my side."
