We had to drop the server resources because we couldn't cover up the costs. Today we've tweaked the Apache in order to maximize the server's performance with its current, dropped resources. However, the forum is still slower and it's possible to encounter some errors now and then. We are still working on it. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, we've tried to keep the initial resources so that the forum would run better, but we just couldn't keep it up with the costs and we ended up borrowing money to be able to keep the forum alive. Even now, after dropping some of the resources, the costs are still very high. We are doing our best to keep this community alive and make the forum work as good as possible. (okay this time i had a lot fo free time. O_O so i ended up writing two chapters! XD i really must have no life. anyway, i'll post both chapters now! ;D Hope you guys like it! ) Chapter 3 – Small Village At the fifth station, the train stopped for a few minutes, giving enough time for people to gather their bags and get off. That train station was very small and humble. One could easily say that not many people would go there, if not for the size of it, then for the number of people who actually got off the train; just the two boys. While the rock boy was admiring the old walls of the ticket booth, Daichi sat on the only bench in the station, with a sulking face. After seeing the walls, the silent boy started to move in direction of the only road around there. Well, considering the size and state of that road, it would be more accurate to call it a path. However, he noticed that Daichi wasn’t moving from his seat. Did that mean he wanted to stay at the station for a bit longer? “You want to stay here?” Daichi looked at the boy with a confused look. “No! I’m just waiting for the next train! I’m going home!” After hearing these words, the rock boy went to the ticket booth and got back carrying a small paper. “The next train will only arrive late in the afternoon. The man in the booth was generous enough to write down the hours of the arrival of the trains. Apparently they only come twice a day, morning and afternoon.” For a moment there, no sounds could be heard, and the two boys just stared at each other. Then, after a few seconds of Daichi holding his breath, he exploded. “YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!” “W-wha-“ “DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST SAY THAT? CAN’T YOU EVEN READ THE MOOD?!” “Mood?” The rock boy was more confused than he had ever been. He couldn’t understand why Daichi had suddenly started to scream; after all he had only told him the hours of the trains. “YES!! MOOD!!” Angry with the other boy, Daichi started to walk as fast as he could towards the path. “But… didn’t you say you were going to wait for the train?” “NO!! I don’t even know why I was expecting something from him…” The rock boy decided to follow Daichi, quietly listening to him talking to himself, while stomping the dirt and rocks. “What? You want to go home? Why? Please stay… yeah right… like he would ever say something like that! Of course he wouldn’t! But noooo! Here I was expecting something from that RUDE guy! Why am I even here?! Just how stupid am I? And only two trains… two trains… TWO TRAINS!! AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! This is the worst day ever!! What was I hoping for, anyway…?” The more they would walk, the less they could feel any human presence. For a long time, it seemed to them that they were the only human beings around there. But that feeling changed as soon as they saw a small village rising in the middle of the hill. Small yet cozy houses were welcoming them; children running from one side to another while laughing and screaming, a group of old men playing cards in the coffee right at the entrance of the village, old women resting in the shadows and talking about pleasant past memories and everyone else giving away a feeling of complicity and happiness. “So this is where that path brought us! Quite the beautiful place…” “Does that mean you don’t regret coming?” “If I say yes… does that mean you’ll fuck off?” Even in such a peaceful place, Daichi’s anger was not giving any sign of wanting to fade. He felt hurt and humiliated by that quiet boy and it was not the sight of that place that was going to change that. All he wanted was to go home, which would only be possible late in the afternoon. “I wish I had never skipped classes… I wish I had never gone to that stupid riverside!” “It’s not the riverside’s fault! It’s your fault! If you don’t want to hear some answers… then don’t make questions in the first place! And all I did was help you with the trains because YOU were the one saying you wanted to go home!” “Ohh… so now it’s MY fault that you are a rude, despicable and pathetic excuse of human being? Don’t play with me! Who was the one insulting me, saying my name was too long to be said… or that I was not even worthy enough to go to your house or… just…. Everything you did during this morning was simply impolite and... you’re an asshol-“ “What beautiful young gentlemen we have here. I’m afraid this is the first time I see you both around here…” “Yes ma’am. This is our first time coming here and I must say it’s an absolute pleasure to be able to see such a beautiful place.” “Oh my... Thank you, young man! This is only a small village but people take very good care of it. Now, do you both care for a cup of coffee or tea? Better yet, since it’s lunch time, would you mind accompany this old woman while she has lunch?” “We would be delighted” So, the three of them kept on walking under that noon hot sun, until they found themselves in front of a small white house. That house was probably owned by the old lady. Once they got in, the table and food was rapidly prepared and everyone ate with will. After a couple of hours, spent talking, the young boys decided to let the old woman rest and left. Their walk around the village was made in silence. However, the atmosphere around them was not dark or painful like before. Somehow, talking with that lady made them relaxed and ready to give a second chance to each other. “You sure know how to be charming when you want to…” “Well… I’m always charming. You just missed that part.” “Wow… you just look at this… he even makes jokes and all… Who are you? And what have you done to the rock boy?” “Rock boy?” “Well… yeah…because… you see… DAMN! I can’t even go all like «it’s easier to say» or «It’s not so long» because I don’t even know your name yet!” “My… name… you say…” Daichi was looking in anticipation to the slim boy next to him. He felt like if he could know his name, their connection would be deeper. Actually, all he wanted was to feel like, in the end of the day, this was not just a distant memory; he wanted to make a bond with that boy and remember it as good thing. “My name is…” Since the rock boy had stopped talking, Daichi though he was gathering his courage to tell his name. Once again he wondered just how shy this boy was. But, after waiting for a couple of minutes he understood that he was not gathering courage or feeling shy at all, he was just completely hypnotized by something else. Daichi, curious to see what had distracted his companion, walked to his side. “Wow…” “Yeah… Wow…” In front of them, there was a small yet dazzling beach. The fact that that place was near the coast was a given. But those boys never expected to actually see the sea on that day. “It’s… amazing! So… blue… and this sound… Daichi! Listen! It’s wonderful!” “Dai…Daichi…Daichi?” Daichi felt like he had lost his breath for a moment. Not only did the rock boy called his name with such enthusiasm, he also never though he would see him this excited and happy. “Is this the first time you come to the beach?” “Yes…”

(and here goes the other chapter sorry if it's way to much to read all at once >. Chapter 4 – The beach The sea was gently caressing the sand and rocks. Every time a new wave would come, a relaxing sound could be heard all over the beach. Excluding the two boys, not a single soul could be seen there. In fact, that made it even more peaceful and beautiful. Somehow, this had the same feeling as the riverside, the feeling of tranquility. However, there was one difference between both places, this beach gave away a sense of freedom that the riverside did not. One thing was certain, if people were to ever find out about this place, they wouldn’t fear it. “Hey! What are you still doing there? Come on down here! The sand is not going to hurt you, you know?” “I know that much! I just feel like I’ll taint this place if I touch it…” “Okaaay… but I’m sure you are not that dirty… C’mon! You won’t taint a thing!” Seeing that the boy was not moving, made Daichi lose is patience. Something had to be done; he climbed the rock, staying right next to him again. Then, with a quick movement he pushed him into the sand. “What was that for? Are you crazy? What if I got hurt?” “But you didn’t! So it’s fine! Also, I’m not the crazy one here. You are! You are crazy for not enjoying this beach! Just let yourself go and have fun!” “I don’t think you need to talk about letting myself go. After all, I’m the one deciding to take a trip out of the blue…” “Yes. But I have this feeling that you are doing it to run away from something… not to have fun… So, let go!” The silence that came afterwards was not an awkward one, more like a time spent in quiet, to reflect and also to enjoy the texture of the sand. “It’s not a bad feeling…” “See? Aren’t you happy I pushed you, now?” “I wouldn’t say happy…” Daichi started laughing, having his laughter compete with the sea for the loudest one, as the rock boy stayed still and enjoying his first time stepping on real sand. “Hey! You! Do you know how to swim?” Hearing the rock boy calling him once again you, made Daichi a bit angry. “You again? I mean… a few minutes ago you actually called me by my name! It’s not that hard now, is it?" “Okay… Kanzaki Daichi, do you know how to swim?” If it was any other person, one would think of this has sarcasm. But the rock boy was not making fun of Daichi in the least. He was dead serious and trying his best. “Ahahahahah you are so weird! How can you even say my full name while looking so serious? Ahahahah Just call me Daichi. Okay? Daichi!” “Daichi…” “See? Not that hard! But the way you said it a while ago was way more endearing…” “You say the most embarrassing things. Did you know that, Daichi?” “Oh shut up!” The rock boy saw Daichi blushing for the first time and he thought it was not a bad sight and that it somehow suited him. The waves were still coming at the sand, not giving up. The sun was no longer in his highest point, but it was still burning. However, the two boys hadn’t given in to the temptation of going for a swim. The truth is that they were aware of how much they had eaten during lunch. So, sitting in a rock shadow was their only option. “What are you trying to write?” “I’m not writing. It’s a drawing. But in my defense, sand is not the best paper!” Daichi was making some random figures in the sand. “I think it’s cool! You draw a lot?” “Well… I do like to draw…and do it quite often…” “Yeah, I can tell!” Upon hearing such words, that could be seen as a compliment, Daichi stopped messing with the sand, not sure of what to say or do. No matter what, he could not draw anymore, at least not now. He was way too embarrassed to do it. “Hey you… Daichi! I think we’ve waited long enough. I want to go for a swim.” “You’re right! Let’s go!” The water felt good on their feet. It was a refreshing sensation, which felt especially good in that hot afternoon. “Wait! You know how to swim?” “Of course I know! Even if this is my first time seeing the sea doesn’t mean I don’t know how to swim!” “It’s not that!! You could not know how to swim. How should I know?” “I just wonder how come my first time at the beach is with you…” “Oi! What do you mean?” “Nothing bad, don’t worry. It could be worse!” “Careful there with the compliments, I might get spoiled” And without saying any word the rock boy started swimming towards the horizon, leaving Daichi behind waiting for a response to his sarcastic statement. After a while he also gave up, knowing the other boy was not crazy for having the last word. Both of them swam for a long time, rushing to the shore and lying on the sand, once the sun was down.

I figured this is the best spot for something like this. I haven't attempted to make a torrent in a long time but it appears to be working. Character development and creation The character is a very important part of the rp, and in my opinion, even the most important thing in it. See the word `Role Play´ It means that you're playing the role of your character, almost like an actor. Every good story/rp needs good and entertaining characters that make you want to think about them even after you've stopped reading/writing. Shortly: Give your character some depth and interesting traits. In general I've learnt a lot about character making, and I still suck at it... sadly. But still I've got some useful tips that could be of use for it. Even skillful writers have to work to make their characters work. If someone says that they don't, they're not human. It's possible though. And if you've been blessed with that kind of ability, get your ass out of here because you don't need this info, you PRO! Heh, now.. Seriously. THERE IS ONE THING that really bugs me when I see people's character sheets. And when I say bug, I really mean it. A lot. I actually never paid attention to it before going to England for a year to study. My `teacher´ nagged about this all the time, and she still claimed that she wasn't stressing it enough. (Yeah right, she can kiss my ***.. ahe.. Sorry.. She's a good person, really.) Now I can't help but think about it all the time. Even I myself have done this mistake, and still continue doing it repeatedly. No can do, I'm not a professional you know. Lack of the imagination. We're talking about a real issue here. Character making seems to lack a lot of imagination in many rp's nowadays. And not speaking only about this forum, but about every rp forum I've seen. It seems like people want to play it safe, and simply blend in with all the others. Going with the flow though, is a bad, bad mistake. Making characters who are friendly, positive, self-sufficent, and flawless in every aspect. Come on people! I'm sure you have got some imagination inside those heads of yours! Use it! It's really boring to see characters with the same personalities, traits and habits in many different rps. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Boooooriiiing! Just adding a "dark, mysterious aura" isn't enough. Make the character have flaws, not just some rubbish that would make your character look `cooler´. Make the character realistic! Let him have his own personality! Not a copy from a BL/YAOI-manga or anime. For ex. Adding speech problems is a good way to bring some uniqueness to your character. And an allergy of some kind, for example a dog allergy, that makes your character sneeze all the time, makes it more interesting. Adding some unliked traits to your character is also very important. No-one wants a perfect little Mary-Sue who has no flaws at all. For ex. Nagging, being prejudiced, or having a habit of lying all the time can bring some good spice and balance for the character who has many good traits. NEVER FORGET THE BALANCE BETWEEN THE GOOD AND BAD TRAITS! Being "unflawless" is always better. A base to build your character on To make a good character, you need a base to build it on to. Some kind of personality type, character history or anything you can use to build your character on. It's something that decides how your character interacts in different situations. Give it some thought and time! Don't try to force, or you'll only be left with hands full of crap. After you've found a good foundation, you can start building the rest of the character. It should be easier from now on. For ex. If you started with a character, who you chose to be a sociopath, then you can thinking about the character's history. What made him a sociopath? Maybe he was abused as a child by his sociopath father, or maybe everyone that he trusted betrayed him? (Lol, now I used a cliche.) what is important, is that your character creation should be fun, and flow naturally. Having a bunch of traits just thrown together isn't going to create anything but a total chaos. Nothing good will come out of it. Don't miss this, it's important: HOW YOUR CHARACTER RESPONDS IN A SITUATION SHOULD NOT BE HOW YOU WOULD RESPOND IN THAT SITUATION YOURSELF!! It kills the whole idea of ROLE play. You're not supposed to write your character's actions the way you would like to react yourself. Think for a moment about your character's personality, history, fears or anything that could affect his way of responding. I'm sure that your co-player won't get angry if he/she has to wait for your post a little longer, because you want to make a good post. The more thought you put into a post, the more details you have, and the more details you have, generally the better your post is. Growing your character is important! Don't let him be a rock! A rock character is a person who doesn't change at all during the story, no matter what kind of traumatic or earth-shaking events he goes trough in the rp. This kind of character is a bad, bad character. A good character actually learns things from other characters, and does some things later in the rp, that he would have never even thought about doing in the beginning of the story. DON'T FORCE YOUR CHARACTER TO CHANGE, but let things change your character, even fundamental things. For example: That sociopath character from before, will in the rp meet people who are trustworthy, and help said paranoid character. A good direction to go with this, is that the sociopath realizes that not all of the people are so bad, and that he becomes more trusting. Having him remain as stoic and paranoid individual the entire rp, even though all the people around him are treating him kindly is just too boring. Letting him change during the rp brings a more realistic aspect to the whole story. This is called character development. Not all writers/rpers have it naturally, but it's an extremely important thing in characters. As you know, all good novels and stories have character changing during the book(s), either by learning new things and reacting to things differently that they would have done in the beginning and so on. The best way to help your character `grow´ is to put yourself in his shoes, and remember these two magic words: Thoughts and Narratives. When you write your posts, jump inside your character's mind, and play his role like you were him. Don't just write action and dialogue. Write what your character is thinking while he does those actions and speaks those words. Think with you character, think like him. Suck his `character´ into you when you write the posts. That's probably the biggest difference between an experienced rper and a newbie rper. The experienced writer writes from that character's perspective while a newbie only writes about the character's actions. Some good ways to practice character personality development are to: (just a few) 1. Read A LOT 2. Take courses and tutorials 3. Socializing and discussing with other writers/role players 4. TV programs and movies. **1. Reading books is a good way to learn character making. You'll notice chapter from chapter that the character growth is happening. There are also lots of skilled writers and role players here on Yaoi Otaku, whose stories and rp's you can read to learn from. **2. What else can I say about this, except that it's very effective, and you will surely learn lots of good things from there. Though this isn't something you really MUST DO to be a good character creator / writer. Many worldwide known writers have never took any courses, and they still make characters that are amazing and realistic enough to make people cry for them. 3. THIS PART is very important. Socializing with other writers is always good and necessary. Never hesitate to ask your rp partner's or reader's opinion about your work. Nothing is as nice as a good, honest feed-back. It's a writer's second life. No matter what kind of feed-back it is. Of course it's nice to have positive feed-back, but to be realistic, that doesn't grow people as writers even nearly as much as critique does. CRITIQUE IS VERY IMPORTANT, and it makes the writer want to get better. So when you ask for feedback, don't forget to give one back to your co-writer. It always makes a writer happy to get some comments about their works. Don't ever let the critique discourage you. Think of it as a gift from the reviewer, and learn to be better. Never give feedback that isn't honest! Remember that nothing is as effective as practice. You can't get better if you don't write. And remember, even the best writers on our forum have once been newbies to writing as well. Trust me. If you don't believe me, then go and ask one. I'm sure that you'll receive the same answer as I gave you. They've just practiced. A LOT! So never stop practicing and writing! Haaah.... This was a long one.. My fingers are spaghetti from writing... I even tried to shorten it up as much as I could. I took lots of things out, and guess what? The next guide will include them. Interesting. :3 Can I? Here's my character who shall be the seme. :3 --------- Heir of the Seiryu group, Shigeru Seiryu had always gotten what he wanted if he worked enough for it. Since he was a child, he has been receiving training to become an eligible heir. He has always lived as a good child that would be approved and accepted by the adults he found himself associating with. He had to be adult-like at an early age. He was never able to release his stress for he had to keep an appearance of a good child all of the time. From this, another personality was born. He called himself "Shin" as he strayed on the streets when Shigeru was unconscious. He would be part of brawls or fights while he wears a plain mask to hide his identity. Shigeru knew of this which is why he never sleeps with anyone. But other than that, he was practically perfect. He had good looks, he is intelligent and Shigeru has a nice personality. One day, whilst Shigeru was taking a break as he walks on the streets, he saw a very beautiful actor. For the first time, he felt that he would break his rules just to be with him. Ever since then, he had been watching him. Shin showed up less too. Before he knew it, he fell in love. --------- I shall be writing the next happening after being rejected when we've started. hello i am submiting my story for the contest i do not know if it is any good but umm it is called True love has no reason. i hope you like it True love has no reason My gaze is drawn to him as always. And Bryce as always does not notice me or the reaction that he has on me. Love was how my sister put it when I first described it to her. But no matter how many time I may say it is not true I Chris was in love with another man. My eyes only averted there view when he was out of site and I made my way to the next class my thoughts as usual on him long after he had gone my heart pounding my hands sweating. As I tried to get my bearings my thoughts mixed up my Bryce’s appearance I released that my next class was drama. With Bryce. As I gathered up my courage I made my way to the class intentionally taking the long way. I wish that I could be his but I had a reason. Even if I could talk to him even if he knew of my existence there was no way that he could ever like me. The constant flirting with girls, he was always chasing after another girl. It was a false dream one that was disgusting and wrong. I told myself for the tenth time that I was going to forget about him. Looking ahead I saw the final corner before the drama room. Pausing momentarily I took a deep breath that left my lips as I was pulled suddenly to the side my small frame having no hope over the powerful body of my attacker. As I turned around I saw… Bryce? My body suddenly limp I somehow managed to take in my surroundings that I was behind the tall bushes that was beside the building. I had often passed them but I had never noticed the space that was behind them that we were in was this big. You could fit 10-20 people here and the thick ness of the bushes meant that no one could have a clue that you were there. That we were there. As the thought that me and Bryce being alone together came to mind I started to blush thinking of what was happening. And as I looked at his face a wide grin spread across it I saw that I was going to have to break the silence. “br-bryce what are y-you doing?” I strutted out my speaking skills failing from my embarrassment. “I have been noticing how you look at me all the time” he responded his voice barley louder than a whisper. My eyes widened as I heard him speak. My secret had been noticed and worse of all he had been the one to notice. As he walked forward myself backing away from him scared of what he was going to do to me to punish me for likening him scared that he was going to hurt me that he was going to kill me. As my back touched the wall behind me I knew that I could no longer escape from him. I was trapped! Bam!! His hands banged into the wall beside my ears the sound like an earthquake. His head coming closer. I closed my eyes my fate sealed. And then he did the thing that surprised me the most. He kissed me. My heart soaring my pulse quickening and my heart pounding I kissed him back. I had lost my reason to resist the truth. Because there is no reason to love. When there is a reason then it is not love. And you can only truly love when you lose that reason.
