After some talk with Saga, we decided to create a new forum section about Asia. We wanted the forum to be better structured. In the first part, Asian Interest Check, any user can post interesting, funny facts, articles or news about any Asian country. You can inspire from other sources, but don't copy-paste the articles not to have complaints from the original author. In the second section, Asian Languages Learning Center, users knowing the 3 languages listed (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) can offer short 'lessons' to help other users who want to learn those languages. As for the 3rd and 4th parts, we wanted to separate the Asian music and dramas from the international ones. The topics about international music and movies will remain in the Non-Yaoi Talk and the Asia-related ones will be moved in the Asia Corner. NOTE: Points will be given for the posts in the first 2 sections, Asian Interest Check and Asian Languages Learning Center. Also, those who will post articles or language lessons, will receive an additional 500 points for every new thread. I'll make a thread where the authors can request the points for their articles/lessons.

Before any writing you need to know basic alphabet or structure of language you are try to learn. Korean(한글han-gul) has 14 consonants(자음ja-eum) and 10 vowels(모음mo-eum). First, let us know what 14 consonants are. ㄱ(기역gi-yeog) ㄴ(니은 ni-eun) ㄷ(디귿 di-geud) ㄹ(리을 li-eul) ㅁ(미음 mi-eum) ㅂ(비읍 bi-eub) ㅅ(시옷 si-od) end written sound is S but coming out sound is D. ㅇ(이응 i-eung) ㅈ(지읒 ji-eud) end written sound is J but coming out sound is D ㅊ(치읓 chi-eud) end written sound is CH but coming out sound is D. ㅋ(키읔 ki-eug) end written sound is K but coming out sound is G. ㅌ(티읕 ti-eud) end written sound is T but coming out sound is D. ㅍ(피읖 pi-eub) end written sound is P but coming out sound is B. ㅎ(히잏 hi-eud) end written sound is H but coming out sound is D. With this there are double up one… for sound just ad Ssang in front. ㄲ(쌍기역 Ssang-gi-yeog) ㄸ(쌍디귿 Ssang-di-geud) ㅃ(쌍비읍 Ssang-bi-eub) ㅆ(쌍시옷 Ssang-si-od) ㅉ(쌍지읒 Ssang-ji-eud) And there is some consonants go together. This is most used in under. This one I will give you few examples. ㄳ – 삯(Saks) – wages ㄵ – 앉아(Anja) – Sit down ㄶ – 많이(Manhi) – a lot ㄻ – 닮았다 (Dalmassda) – looks like it ㄾ – 핥다(Haltda) - lick ㅄ – 밥값 (Babgabs) – meal price or money for meal But, same as English with out vowels consonants doesn’t make any words. So now let learn about 10 vowels. ㅏ(a) ㅑ(ya) ㅓ(eo) ㅕ(yeo) ㅗ(o) ㅛ(yo) ㅜ(woo / u) ㅠ(yoo / yu) ㅡ(eu) ㅣ(i) This vowels also mix together to work. ㅐ(ae) ㅒ(yae) ㅔ(e) ㅖ(ye) ㅘ(wa) ㅙ(wae) ㅚ(oe) ㅝ(wo) ㅞ(we) ㅟ(wi) ㅢ(ui) These are the most basic you need to know before structuring into word... Some people said Korean is most scientific language in the world. The building structure of Korean isn’t easy, but long as you know how to put consonants and vowels together it will be easy to put together. And the sound of the word will not change much at all... So what you write is what you get. So let built up some word. First, let use first consonant and vowel together. 가(ga) – Go! Even just one consonant and one vowel together made into the word. There are many other... Like 나(na) – I or Me, 다(da) – Everything, 라(la) – sound La, 마(ma) – it’s some kind of root veggie, 바(ba) – Bar, 사(sa) – Four, 아(a) – Ah, 자(ja) – Ruler, Go to sleep! 차(cha) – Car, 파(pa) – Dig or sound Fa, 하(ha) – laugh sound Ha Like this... even one work also could have many meaning. Also, you could put other consonant under this single word. 각(gak) – angle or each I will stop here for today. I don’t want you to over work on from first lesson. ^^ Next lesson will be making word with ㄱ as first letter... If you have any question on lesson or any word you want to know or make just ask. Good morning! – this can be use to every one but if you want to use to older person you have to put 이예요(i-Ye-yo!) in the end. 좋은하루보내! (Joh-eun a-chim bo-nae!) Have a great morning! – also can used any age but if it for the older person this time add 세요(se-yo!) in the end. 잘다녀오세요! (Jal Dan-nyeo-o-se-yo!) – this is kind of said to older who go out but will come back home. 다녀 mean go 오세요 mean come... so it’s sound like go and comeback… ^^;;; but, with 잘at front it mean save trip and come home. 다녀오겠습니다! (Dan-nyeo-o-gyess-seub-ni-da!) – this is when younger person going out and come back later said it... most time children said to mother when they go to school. 점심드셨어요? (Jeom-sim deu-syeoss-a-yo?) Did you have a lunch? – to older person. 점심먹었어? (Jeom-sim meog-eoss-a?) Did you have a lunch? – to friend or close people. 점심먹었니? (Jeom-sim meog-eoss-ni? Wow, you guys have watched a lot of dramas! XD Compared to you I've hardly seen any. The first J-drama I watched was Hana Kimi (the older, not the new remake). I remember thinking "wow, this show practically crack!" XD I laughed so much, mostly because I wasn't expecting the show to be the way it was at all. From there on I started watching a lot of Asian dramas. The Japanese ones I've watched (NOT including BL dramas) so far are: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge - Liked it a lot. It was very nice and funny. I like unusual couples XD Hana Yori Dango -It was alright. Like it a bit better than the Korean version. Nobuta Wo Produce - loved it! Liar game 1 and 2 + movie -loved it! Mind games are right up my street Ouran High School Host Club - It was fun. I haven't seen the anime, though. Mei-chan no Shitsuji - It was...unusual. I didn't finish it, it didn't really pull me in. Some of the Butlers were handsome, though XD Ikemen Desu Ne -didn't finish it. Thought the Korean one was funnier, and the guys hotter XD Koizora - Started it a while back, but still haven't finished it. Tokyo Dogs -watched the first ep. It's on my watch list. Bloody Monday 1 and 2 -I really enjoyed it! Kurosagi -I like Yamapi, I felt the plot could have been cleverer in a lot of places. Samurai High School - I enjoyed it! It was a fun ride XD Yankee-kun to Megane-chan - haven't finished it yet, but I will! Love Shuffle -At first I didn't think I would enjoy it, but in the end, I got through the whole show, and I liked it. Tumbling - Aww, it was so emotional! I loved it! And yeah, hot guys in tight clothes doing backflips and other dangerous stunts is very nice to watch indeed XD Zeni Geba - OMG, I have never seen a drama like it. The main character is a horrible person, and yet you can't hate him, but you can't love him either. And the ending!! Very painfun to watch, in a good way. Actor did very well in his last scene in the shed. Crows Zero 1 and 2 -Liked them very much! Kids -I really liked it. Death Note movies + L change the World -thought anime was better. I loved L, though. The movie about L was alright. Ryusei no Kizuna -did not finish. Was sort of good, but I thought some scenes were boring and I stopped paying attention. Yokai Ningen Bem - was like nothing I had seen before. I liked it! I had several 'awww' moments. The little kid was so cute with his little horns XD And of course, Kame is always nice to watch Battle Royale movies - I liked them, even though they're seriously brutal. I think they're definitely more mature than The Hunger Games. Binbo Danshi - didn't finish it. The Quiz Show 2 -I really liked it! I should watch the first series someday. Delicious Gakuin - I didn't finish it because I could only find subs up to episode 7, after that it's just raw. It was definitely one of the more original ones XD I mean, boys get kidnapped and taken to a cooking school, and they can't leave until they graduate. Never thought I'd ever find a show like that. Here is Greenwood - haven't finished it yet, it's on my watch list XD Kaiji - Really liked it! I think that's all I got so far
