What did you first think of yaoi when you discovered it for the first time? Did you like it? Where you somewhat taken back or perhaps you didn't like at first. Tell all, tell all. Hehe. At first I was too, but then I discovered that I was attracted to girls and everything changed. I, as you know write, so before discovering my sexuality I wrote straight romance (porno....in middle school...hehe long story). Anyways I began getting into boyxboy love stories but I really hadn't read any yaoi. I was just looking at them in bookstores when my parents weren't around. Then a few years later in the tail end while I was writing the VERY first boy on boy love story I got my mom to buy a yaoi manga for me. I fell in love that day. Now I can't get enough of it. I don't hate Bara per see but I really, really love my bishounen. From the very first time I read a bara manga it never once disgusted me. It just doesn't entertain me like yaoi does. Art wise it's simply not cut for me. If the plot captivates me I won't let it stop me, though. But as I do not go often in search for anything of the genre... As a matter of fact it's incredibly rare, I must have read bara a maximum of 5-6 times. Just for the kicks. Trying to find a good story in the middle of all that muscle and hair and beards. :8yoyo31: And I ended up not finding anything remotely similar to what I went in search off. So I don't even give myself the trouble anymore. It's not worth it, in my opinion. Here are some artists that I like, whose characters are buffer than they usually are in yaoi and, in that aspect, are a little bit bara'ish (?), they however keep their bishounen'ess (?) intact: Akira Norikazu and Zaria. I absolutely worship them. Just the art is enough to make you stare and trace each line with your eyes. The stories are good too. :msn_red_fox 15
