Hmm... I have to admit that I never really read a Manga or watched an Anime which had hardcore rape in it... Rape is a violation and abuse in its true description. However, I think the reason why this plot is so much used in BL because of the titillation it gives off to its target audience. Rape is definitely not for everyone. It's not so much as the act that is the main core of the story but rather exuding power and dominance being rape as the ultimate form of putting it into application as depicted in BL stories. When we see that happening (especially when we like the seme who does it) we automatically think it's a necessary means to an end. Sometimes the rape scenes were carried out not because the seme is just a horny bastard but rather it was just an act of desperation on his part. some uke (in their mind) is worth all the trouble. Let's also face the facts that some rape scenes were devised by the uke themselves because they like the fantasy despite the seme who actually prefer a more tender approach. BL authors have a way of sorting out through their rape vocabulary which I think is quite extensive for the most part as far as they are concerned. As for me, it's one thing to just read it in BL and another thing to read it on the news. These two have very different effects.

My sadistic streak leads me to love almost every kind of violence and torture and, of course, rape is part of it. :cuteonion9: Still, I would divide the enjoyment and entertainment I receive from rape scenes in stages: - I love the characters involved, the circumstances and the ambience in which the rape happens, therefore I will be happy I was born in this world. :Red_fox: Ex.: Asami x Takaba ♥ (Viewfinder, Vol.1, Ch.1) Escape - Kyuugou Inariya Fusanosuke's rape scenes *.* Sono Kuchibiru ni Yoru no Tsuyu - Fukai Youki - I kind of like the characters but the way the scene is ilustrated and/or narrated just doesn't leave it's mark on me. Or vice-versa. I still find my fun in it, obviously, it's just not that exciting anymore. - I dislike/despise the characters, the environment around them and the reason that led to the act, and as such I'll either think it was a waste of time; only enjoy it because the actual act and don't pay atention to the rest; or sometimes not even the rape will save the desastrous characters & plot and I will just be indiferent to it. - In rare cases I might even hate it, but to make me go that far it would have to be really, REALLY bad. And when I say bad it's not in terms of blood or disgusting stuff.Because I love that~ It's about characterization, story line and art style that fits the atmosphere of the story in question. Even if it is a one shot (:

I personnaly don't mind rape in Yaoi anime's and mangas, some of them are actually quite enjoyable to watch XD

I really liked The Mirage of Blaze, Boku no Sexual Harrasment, Viewfinder and some other manga and anime that involve rape, but I can't say I like rape or that I find it appealing in a special way. I think that I don't mind rape if I like the characters and the storyline. For example if I love Aishuu and suddenly Jin rapes Kaoru (he actually did it in a way...), I wouldn't mind it, cause I'd still like both of them and the story. But if I don't like the characters and the story, then rape comes on top of it and I would reather give up reading that manga...
