The other didn't had to tell what he was thinking as he could see the look in his eyes when he realized what had happened exactly. He had been the target all along. He was supposed to be attacked in the library and most likely he was supposed to die tonight instead of Noah. His friend was dead because of him. Guild and grief was building in his chest again, feeling his heart squeeze like hell, like thorns where pinned in it. It was all his fault. He was the cursed one. He was about to break apart when the other asked where he lived and that he shouldn't go alone given the circumstances. That made him rethink everything and trying to understand why would someone want him dead. His line of thoughts was interrupted when he the other mentioned that he was not safe and that he should know how magic works. "Yeah I know ... they leave a scent that can be found by hounds ..." he said unconsciously, responding out of reflex. Of course he knew about magic. He was a magic being, but the only person that knew that was Noah. And now Asher. He took a deep breath and turned his eyes towards the guy, locking his eyes with the honey colour that shined now in the dark of the room.

[“You’re a wolf. Couldn’t you pick up a trace? There has to be something you caught.”] Asher clenched his jaw, biting back the growl that threatened to rise. He hated being refer to something like a dog. “Go catch the scent.” Like he hadn’t already tried. As if magic didn’t erase every last hint of a scent signature. As if Asher hadn’t already been on his hands and knees searching for the faintest trace. And all he’d found was this guy. But instead of snapping, Asher bit his tongue and let him finish. He forced his pulse to steady before finally explaining what had happened. When the man was done talking, silence thickened between them. Asher stared off, his mind moving faster than his words. Maybe Noah hadn’t been the target at all. What if— No. That was a stretch. A dangerous one. But still… what if the killers were the same ones who had stormed the library earlier that day? The incident had been all over the news, but the library wasn’t in their territory. Another clan was handling that case. Maybe someone had tracked Kaito to Noah’s place. Maybe Noah had died for something he never even knew about. Asher swallowed hard, the image of Noah’s body flashing behind his eyes. He felt the weight of it like a stone in his chest. “I’m not going to kill you,” he said quietly. “But I think someone else might have wanted to.” His gaze fell to the floor. The thought of telling Kaito that Noah might have died covering for him unwittingly. The thought twisted Asher’s stomach. Kaito was shaken enough. There was no reason in piling guilt on top of grief. “Where do you live?” Asher asked suddenly, his tone sharper than he meant. He needed to know. Needed to make sure Kaito didn’t walk into a trap. “You shouldn’t go back there alone. Not after this. For all we know, whoever did this might still be waiting for you.” He hesitated, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You’ll probably have to talk to the police at some point. But right now, it’s not safe. You know how magic tracking works better than I do… don’t you?” It wasn’t really a question. It was a test. A quiet accusation. Asher was almost certain that Kaito was no ordinary civilian.

There has to be something that you caught up on" he said looking at the guy bitting his lip and the sheet in his hand knowing that he might anger the alpha but thats what he was thinking. "Yes it happened early today and no, it doesn't happen all the time. I'm not that stupid" he scuff the other snorting at the insinuation. He started to tell him about the library incident and how strange it felt but he didn't thought much about it and just place it with the coincidence but now that he was saying it out loud he was starting to questions if it was a conincidence after all.

Asher caught it instantly. “Three times?” he echoed, his voice low. A possible lead. A smirk played at the corner of his mouth as he leaned back in the chair, legs spreading with casual confidence. The black denim stretched over his thighs like a second skin, leaving nothing to hide and everything to notice. His sharp and unreadable eyes, pinned the other in place. “So tell me,” he drawled, there was hint of heat in his gaze, “when was the first time you almost died? Was it today… or are you just that reckless all the time?”

Kaito narrowed his yes when the guy said he wasn't a cop. Then who was he what interest had he in this matter. But before he could let his mind spiral around that , the guy replied and telling his name, which made his expression widen as he heard that name before from Noah. He is that Asher? The arrogant Alpha guy that Noah kept talking about that was his friend and all their stories … no wonder he is so invested in this … With each step his heartbeats were starting to raise but not because he was afraid for his life. He knew too much from Noah that this guy wasn't one to hurt innocent people. And he was one. It was more because his way of him trying to intimidate him and the fact that the guy wasn't trusting what he was saying that happened. Implying that he was lying which he wasn't. He just kept the part with magic aside. He remembered bits of their conversations before the intrusion but he couldn't tell him that they talked about him. Especially the part where Noah mentioned that the wolfs were good looking and all because even if he disliked the guy in front of him, Noah wasn't lying. The guy was gorgeous. Tall, well build, muscular, eyes shining the colour like honey. He could understand how one could be mesmerized by this type of guys. i'd better die than tell him all that to this guy … he will not believe me most likely … "No. He didn't mentioned anything like that. It was a normal hangout, drunking talking.[ smoking , he thought]. Nothing that we didn't do before" he said shaking his head. "What … you're going to come after my family or something and then kill me? Well … good luck cause I don't have one and I believe a third time in killing me will be a charm" he said scuffing angrily at the other for still insisting that he was lying what had happened. But it was the whole truth that he had. His reference of third time is a charm, was because of 2 life threaten experiences that he just survived [the library and his friends home], so him killing him might just do it. He didn't realized that he did said a major clue.
