Crossing the room, he carefully scooped Shan up with his free arm, settling the boy against his other shoulder so he carried one on each side. Despite his size, the motion was careful, practiced. The children were light, far lighter than what Yumro was used to carrying. But holding them like this still stirred something protective deep in his chest. For a fleeting moment, it reminded him of holding Haruhi—not physically, but in that same instinctive way, as if he could shield something precious from the world simply by keeping it close. Upstairs, the house was quieter. The soft creak of floorboards and the muted rustle of fabric were the only sounds as Yumro moved over the the boys made up beds in the viewing room. He started with Shan, easing him into the first mattress and pulled a blanket up around him. Shan shifted slightly but didn’t wake. Then is was the next ones turn, he gently lowered Haru onto the mattress, removed Haru's shoes and tucked him in aswell. “Good night boys, I'll see you both tomorrow. Sweet dreams"
