Alexander hadn’t slept much that night. Even when he closed his eyes, rest didn’t come easily. Every time he drifted, he found himself listening for breathing that might falter, for movement that might stop, for silence that might become too still. More than once, he woke without realizing he’d fallen asleep at all, his gaze immediately searching the room until it landed on Alistair. It was strange how quickly that presence had become something he relied on. Like a quiet reassurance sitting just beneath his ribs. By morning, the temple had already begun to move around him again, whispers trailing behind him in the halls, eyes that lingered too long, some filled with confusion, others with quiet disapproval. No one stopped him. No one dared. But the distance had grown and yet through all of it, he kept thinking about Alistair. About the way he had leaned into his touch without thinking. The way his voice had cracked when he said he didn’t deserve kindness. About the quiet and fragile hope hidden beneath all that self-condemnation. It stayed with him. So when he returned and found Alistair awake again, truly awake this time something in Alex eased in a way he hadn’t expected. Something was blooming in his light and he wasn’t aware of it. But when he suggested showing him the temple… he hadn’t expected him to agree but it did put a smile on his lips. Standing beside him in the garden, Alexander watched him quietly as they walked step by step down the aley covered in leafs. “It’s quieter for me too,” Alex admitted softly looking up ahead, enjoying the soft cool breeze. “I didn’t realize how much I was always listening… until it stopped,” he added. “Spirits, energy, emotions… it’s always there. Always asking for something.” His gaze shifted to Alistair. “But with you… it’s different.” he pause. “It’s… calm.” He reached out, hesitating only briefly before brushing his fingers lightly against Alistair’s sleeve, checking his condition first with his power. “You’re really okay?” he asked quietly. “No pain of any sort?” he was worried how he would feel since he never read much about this ritual or how is manifesting. “Alexander.” a voice carried across the garden, sharp and controlled. Alexander straightened instinctively, his posture shifting before he even turned. He didn’t need to look to know who it was. As he turned, he bowed his head slightly. “Father.” Mr. Sato’s gaze flicked to Alistair before returning to his son. “You have duties you’ve neglected,” he said. “A purification has been requested in the lower village. You will attend to it.” Alexander hesitated just for a second before nodding. “Yes.” “And the demon,” his father added, voice tightening ever so slightly, “does not leave your side.” Alex frowned for a second but he composed himself rather quickly. His father was testing him and he was not going to let this be a motive to punish them. “I understand,” Alex said quietly. There was a long pause. Then his father turned and left without another word. The garden felt colder after that. Alexander exhaled slowly, some of the tension leaving his shoulders as he looked back at Alistair. “…That’s new,” he murmured, a faint, ironic smile tugging at his lips. “Usually I don’t get assigned work under supervision.” He stepped closer again, more naturally this time. “You’ll have to come with me,” he said. “It’s not far. A home cleansing, restless spirit most likely.” His tone softened slightly. “You don’t have to do anything. Just… stay near me.” A pause. “…But you’ll see what I do.” There was something almost shy in the way he said it, a quiet awareness that this was the first time Alistair would see him not as a symbol… but as himself. He turned toward the path, then glanced back. “Let’s get the needed items and then we can go” he said reaching his hand out with a soft smile waiting and hopping Alistair will take it.

Kaito caught the shirt easily when Asher tossed it, the fabric soft and still faintly carrying his scent. He didn’t comment on that part, just gave him a look. “Only activated around me, huh?” he echoed lightly, already backing toward the bathroom. “I’ll try not to let that go to my head,” but the corner of his mouth betrayed him. Once inside, the door clicking shut behind him, Kaito let out a slow breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He leaned briefly against the sink, running a hand through his damp hair as he looked at his reflection. His cheeks weren’t flushed anymore but there was something else there now. Something that he was still afraid to accept it but it was slowly blooming in his chest. You’re enjoying this, his wolf noted. “…Maybe,” Kaito muttered, though the faint smirk said enough. He changed quickly, swapping into the training clothes Asher had given him. The shirt hung loose again, the fabric brushing against his skin in a way that was quickly becoming familiar. The running shoes fit perfectly. He flexed his foot once, testing them. When he stepped back out, he caught sight of Asher again and yeah, that didn’t get easier. If anything, it was worse now that he knew exactly how solid that body felt under him. “Ready?” Kaito asked, rolling one shoulder, but his eyes never left the other. Breakfast was quieter than the night before. Fewer people, less noise, just enough movement to remind him this was still a living, breathing place. Kaito settled into it easier this time. He exchanged a few words with Logan, nodded to Missy, even made a dry comment or two that earned a small laugh. The edge from yesterday had . “So … what’s your guys plans for today?” he asked at the table as he took a sip of juice. “Asher is gonna show me training grounds so if you want to see me kick some well trained Alpha ass you could join and watch” he said confident but deep down he knew he was the one that was going to get his ass kicked.

Adrian chuckles and rubs the back of his head, "you make... it sound like such a simple interaction... that I failed to do," he sighs a little but shakes his head slowly, "but... I am glad your starting to forgive me at the very least," he smiles. He looks at Cody as he was blushing and wraps his arms around Cody, pulling him close.
