Sora chuckled as Fang dropped his arm and looked back at him, wearing that familiar expression—trying so hard to look annoyed. It didn’t quiet worked. The relief and softness in Fang’s eyes always gave him away. Truth was, Sora had gotten very good at reading Fang’s face. The constant frown, the sharp set of his brow—it didn’t mean Fang was angry or irritated. That was just how his face rested, habit more than emotion. But when they kissed, the frown vanished. The deep lines smoothed out, and Fang looked lighter, like the weight he carried loosened for just a moment. [“Welcome home.”] Sora’s chest tightened at the words, unexpected and warm. Fang smiled gently at him, and it struck Sora—again—that Fang wasn’t getting any less handsome. If anything, living together had softened him in the best ways. And in selfish way, Sora was glad those warm eyes were meant only for him. Otherwise, he was sure he’d be fighting off admirers every time they stepped outside. [“I made curry, if you’re hungry…”] Sora nodded. He’d smelled it the moment he reached the door—spices lingering thick in the air. The apartment didn’t smell bad, not at all. it smelled lived-in, like someone had been waiting for him. “I’ve wanted to taste it ever since I saw your text,” Sora said with a smile, a thread of nostalgia weaving into his voice. “You’ve gotten really adventurous in the kitchen. Even more since I moved in.” He hesitated, then added more quietly, “I like your cooking. I really do.” It surprised him how much it driffrent it was living with someone. Sora hadn’t had anyone cooking for him or waiting at home for him—since he was 14. After that it was just years with him alone in that empty apartment. It was: late meals, eaten while standing, and only silence greeting him at the door. Fang’s care filled that space. His actions was for him and Sora very much appreciated it. “Did you eat already,” Sora asked, pressing a kiss to Fang’s forehead, lingering there longer than necessary, “or did you wait for me?” He pulled back slightly, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Wait—do you even like curry?” Fang always seemed to care most about the meat, but he still usally ate with Sora. And shared whatever with him. Always together, whenever they could. ["How was your day"] "It was kinda slow and.. well weird. We still had to show up for assembly and a finish a few things but everyone knows we are pretty much done so even the teaches didn’t mind if most of us was goofing off." He paused, rubbing the back of his neck. "Honestly, it was very weird. I think I kinda only realized it today, that it is really over soon." His voice softened. "I’m starting a new chapter—meeting new people. He smiled faintly. “But I’m going to miss the people I’m so used to seeing every day. Even the teachers.” He let out a short laugh at that. “I know I don’t really have a reason to be sad,” he went on, more quietly now. “And in a way, I’m not. But… I kind of am. At the same time, I’m excited and nervous as hell about what comes next.” He looked at Fang then, searching his face like Fang might be able to steady the whole world for him. “Does that make sense?” He hadn’t lied when he told Asta they’d always be friends. He believed that. But they weren’t going to see each other the way they used to—every day. He was scared for the possibility of drifting apart. But he hadn’t said that out loud, not when Asta was clearly struggling with the same fear. "Asta asked if I—” Sora stopped, then corrected himself. “If we wanted to take a trip together this summer.” He hesitated. “I told him I’d ask you.” Then he smiled, sheepish and unapologetic all at once. “I may have already said yes. So… either you come with us?” He tilted his head, that familiar sorry-not-sorry grin on his face. “Or… you don’t.” ------------------------------ Leon felt a wave of relief when Asta didn’t seem bothered by him showing up so suddenly, without waiting for a reply. When the human leaned into his embrace instead, Leon took it as a good sign. [“I can eat .... There’s a new ramen shop that just opened down the street. Why don’t we go there?”] Leon nodded. “Sure.” He gently linked their arms together, and they started walking. Leon took Asta’s backpack with his PC and carried it over his other shoulder. He knew Asta could manage it himself, but Leon wanted to help. Even though Asta’s leg was much better now, Leon still helped him carry things from time to time so he could focus on keeping his balance. The ramen shop was crowded with students and buzzing with life. Leon found a small, secluded two-person table farther inside. Once they were seated, he removed his cap and sunglasses. Leon chose the seat with his back to the entrance, keeping his face hidden from most onlookers. He didn’t want anyone coming up to him when he just wanted to spend time with Asta—and he didn’t want Asta to feel awkward. They ordered their food. Leon wasn’t a fan of overly spicy dishes, so he chose noodles in a rich chicken-and-duck broth with mushrooms, tender duck meat, and two eggs with runny orange yolks. It tasted amazing. Asta’s bowl looked just as appetizing—though the chili oil gave quite a strong smell. When Asta leaned forward over the table, eyes bright, cheeks a little flushed from the heat of the broth. Leon smile as he watched him eat with that unfiltered enthusiasm. The noise of the shop faded into a comfortable blur, replaced by the small ordinary sounds: chopsticks tapping the bowl, a quiet hum of conversation, the soft scrape of porcelain. He twirled his own noodles slowly, pretending to focus on them while his attention kept drifting back to Asta. When Asta offered him a taste of his ramen, Leon leaned in without thinking, lips touching the spoon. It did tast good . But as expected the chili was too strong for him. He offer Asta a tast of his from Leon's own spoon too. Even added a little duck meat and egg to give him the fully experience. He laughed softly at Asta’s comment, shaking his head. “Yours is just spicier,” he said, but there was a fondness in his voice. As they ate, Leon found himself absentmindedly nudged his bowl closer to Leon’s side of the table, he didn’t mind sharing. Right now, this was his peace: the steam rising from ramen bowls, as they shared smiles in a quiet conversation. He reached across the table and brushed Asta’s wrist lightly with his fingers. A small gesture while they ate. -------- Leon felt the shift immediately. Something in Asta’s posture changed. The easy warmth from dinner lingered, yet there was a something uneasy now, like Asta was bracing himself for something. When he asked if they could go to Leon’s place, Leon agreed right away, like it was the most natural thing. Then what he hadn’t expected to come followed: [“C-can we… talk?”] " ...." Leon blinding down at Asta’s for a moment before he caught on. "Yeah,” Leon said. “Of course.” Leon's eyes searched Asta’s face, catching the way his fingers curled into the strap of his backpack. The walk back was quieter than before. Not uncomfortable—just like Asta was carrying something big, both of them grew nervous. Still, Leon kept his pace matched to Asta’s, instinctively slowing when the sidewalk dipped or crowded. When they reached his apartment, he unlocked the door and stepped aside, letting Asta go in first. Leon set the backpack down carefully. “Make yourself comfortable,” he said, toeing off his shoes. He poured them both water, giving Asta the time he seemed to need, then sat down on the couch —open posture, no crossed arms. (Whenever you’re ready) his body language said. Leon nodded. “okay, you wanted to talk..” Something in Leon’s chest tightened— fear maybe.. he wasn’t sure if what Asta was gonna say would be good or bad. The anticipation made his shoulders tense. Whatever Asta wanted to say, Leon was preparkng himself mentally.
