Name: Ravana "Ravi" Valentino

Age: 273 (considered a youngling in vampire society)

Occupation: Son of the head of the Valentino Clan

The way the sky was bathed in the deep colors of the last bits of sunlight was mesmerizing; even when the sun only set a couple of minutes ago, you could see a splash of bright hues behind the dark in the stretched out sky. The moon rising in the foreground as it makes its appearance with its stolen shine. Ravi wishes he had time to memorize the way the sky looked today. Instead, he was in a suit waiting to see his soon to be wedded. It seems, jarring, and idiotic to be honest.

It was normal that their clan was nothing less than enemies with the werewolf clan not far from their own territory. It's been a norm for centuries, genetic that vampires and mutts loathed each other. And yet, his mother, the head of the clan, saw differently. The council went into outrage at her proposal at having a vampire of her clan and a mutt from the other to wed together. And Ravi was right there with them, but more silent, until, that is, his own mother mentioned that it was to be him that would marry a wolf.

Him. With a wolf of all things. Ravi sighed deeply, leaning over the railing of the manor's balcony as he looked on at the vast woods. The trees that seemed to stretch out for the stars yet could never reach was something he felt empathy for. For he himself, is reaching to get out of this arranged marriage. Hell, he even nearly gave up his brother Samuel as a replacement. However, mother was having none of it. Her mind set on her decision. And no one could argue with her. Fantastic.

His mother has met up with the mutts over the course of the next two months by herself to talk about the arrangement, and those animals actually agreed to the suicidal idea. And now, here Ravi was, waiting to see his arranged lover. He looked down at the ground, it was a good drop. He wonders if it could kill him. Probably not, but, he has to try in order to be fully certain, right? A science experiment. Just as he leaned over the railing, contemplating the idea, he heard someone open the door to the balcony. Well, there goes that idea.

Huffing, he turned around to see his mother. Her long black hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, the strands cascading down in small waves around her shoulders. The dress she wore was a modest black one that screamed riches with the jewels embedded in the fabric. She was stunning, and yet Ravi still stubbornly resents her.

"Ravi, darling," she spoke softly, walking towards him with grace as she rested her hand upon his cheek. "They're going to be here in a couple of minutes, my dear, you should come down stairs to greet our new family." He knows damn well that even if the word "should" was there, he had no choice on the matter at hand. Sighing again, putting his gloved hand on his mother's own that laid on his cheek he muttered; "Shouldn't there be another option? Why not marry off one of the council men?"

Lord knows those men deserve every bit of misfortune that comes their way with the barbaric way they run things. His mother only pat his cheek, smiling softly at him before wrapping an arm around his own and guiding him off of the balcony and into the hallway. The design of the halls was dark wood and embroiled silver with a few paintings from the past hung up on the walls. The occasionally chandler hanging from the hand painted ceilings every couple of feet. "Oh, honey, I would not object to having all of those old men leaving. But, it has to be you who marries the Wolf clan's son."

She's been saying that nonsense ever since she told them of her brilliant idea. And yet never elaborated as to why that was. Ravi didn't answer, looking at the paintings that stared back at him with dull eyes. He wonders if the mutt lacked manners like the rest of them, most likely. He could always leave his "dear" in the dungeons and pretend that everything is fine while obtaining freedom. Now, that sounded more appealing. But alas, he already promised his mother that he would do his best to help with this arrangement. (his best being not outright killing the mutt, which she reluctantly agreed on)

Getting to the vast staircase, they began to descend down to the lobby. If Ravi had a heart it would be pounding from nerves right about now. Inhaling deeply, he straightened his back, yet did nothing to hide how much he was disgusted with this whole meeting, until his mother elbowed him in the side. Effectively deflating his facade as he grimaced at how hard she did it.

Name: Connor O'ceallaigh

Age: 23

Occupation: second born son to the alpha of the O'ceallaigh clan

The darkening of the sky above him and the dying day seemed just right- it reflected his own mood perfectly. Connor pulled on his tie, adjusting it for the hundredth time that evening. He hated being mummified in a suit, it always felt so unnatural. Well, what he was about to do was just as unnatural if not worse, so he might as well get himself in the mood.

The second and youngest son of the O'ceallaigh family sneaked a furious glance at his father next to him. It was all his fault that he had to go through with that stupid plan. Those things were haunting them for decades, injuring and even killing members of their clan, and then all of a sudden their queen bee just walks into their home one day and offers marriage to solve things. Marriage of all things. Funny that a leech with no heart, or at least a beating one, would offer love as a solution. Well, of course there was no real love there- this marriage was purely political. That goddamn old man hippie seemed to agree with her, deciding it was time to put an end to the feud between the clans and make them stronger against other enemies. That was all great and everything, but why did it have to be through marriage? And why did he have to be the one that had to get married?

He feared the day his father gave him the news was something he would never be able to erase from his memory.

'No' he thought when he was told what he would have to do 'no, no, no, no, no'. "No." was the decisive answer he gave his father when he revealed his brilliant plan. His old man let out a sigh from his seat behind his desk in his office, where, by the smell of it, that leech just left. "That's not up for debate Connor. Both Mrs. Valentino and I agree that this is the best solution for both clans. We have already lost too many people in this conflict. You know this is your duty to protect our people in any way you can." Ouch. Bringing in responsibility and loyalty to the conversation. He was really being serious. Nonetheless, Connor wasn’t about to go down without a fight "why can't Oliver do this?" he protetsed. Of course, he knew the answer to this question all too well. His older brother, the one who would lead the clan after their father, was already betrothed to the daughter of another werewolf clan. And so, he was being thrown to the wolves. Or, well, to the vampires. Honestly he would take the wolves over them any day.

No matter how much he protested, pleaded, even begged just a little, there was no changing his mind. His father was set on the marriage and on the promise he made to the bloodsuckers. And so, only a few weeks after that dreaded day, accompanied by his father and brother, Connor was on his way to meet his future spouse. The way there was a very quit one- his family knew better than to try and talk to him. He might have agreed eventually, but he was not happy.

When their final destination finally revealed itself from its hiding place behind the trees, Connor couldn't help but roll his eyes. Of course they were filthy rich. He couldn't help but wonder whether the inside décor was as… Dracula-ish as the outside was. There was no need in guessing, however, seeing that soon enough they were at the door that, after ringing an ominous sounding doorbell, opened before them.

Feeling every muscle in his body tense and tighten, Connor found himself ushered in and led, together with his family, to the lobby. From the two people standing there (if he could call them that) he recognized the woman. That was the she-devil that somehow convinced his father to go through with this madness. The one standing next to her he didn't know, and didn't particularly cared about. Pale, handsome, looks like he has way too much money… so, basically another vampire. But where was the one he was supposed to marry? Was she late? How rude. 'Guess money can't buy manners' he thought, as he continued scanning the two standing in front of him. The harsh reality hit him however, when his eyes landed on the face of the man in front of him. No. No, no, no, no, no. "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me" he muttered under his breath. The face he saw was one he knew all too well- he saw it every time he looked in the mirror in the past few weeks. For some reason, he was sure that his betrothed would be someone like his brother's, or at least somewhat close to her. But instead of getting a cute bride he got… this? Not that he ever cared for girls too much, mind you, but the people back home would never let him get away with it. He was already being picked on for being the second born, much smaller than his father and brother despite the physical resembelance they shared (after all, genetics had to make it clear as to who would be the next alpha, and there could only be one), and the fact that he was to marry a vampire. And now this? God, he would never hear the end of it.

Throwing him a warning glance, his father quickly moved forward, his expression now much friendlier as he approached the two vampires. "How are you my dear?" he smiled at the woman before kissing her hand, the gesture allowing the light from the chandelier to glisten in the few silver strips in his black hair before he straigthened up again "I would like to introduce my sons. This is Oliver, my firstborn" he gestured towards the older O'ceallaigh brother, who politely bowed his head "and this is Connor" he said, his voice full of meaning. Unlike his brother, Connor just silently glared at his soon-to-be family. That was the least hostile gesture he could manage, and don't even get him started on opening his mouth to say something.

Getting to the lobby of the manor, is when Ravi felt time slow to a halt. This was the moment that he'll forever bring up to his mother to rub in her face just how wrong she was about this inter species relations. And they're immortal. He could hear them coming towards the door, the servants near them readying to open them once the wolf clan announce their arrival officially. When the doorbell rung out throughout the lower manor, Ravi glanced at his mother at the choice of tune. She was the mistress of the highest clan of vampires in this county and yet her doorbell was an ironic tune from a horror B movie. She glanced back at her son, her smile turning a bit mischievous before she looked back towards the door when the servants opened them for the strays.

The mutts that greeted Ravi were a bit more tidied up than what he initially thought, all of them dressed to nines for this historical, and very much hated, event between the two clans. It was as if he was looking at someone's dog being paraded around in a suit like it was suppose to be human. He nearly laughed at the symbolism, though refrained out of fear of his mother's wrath which he knows she would not hide from the mutts. There were three of them in total, all male which was of no surprise to him, and one of them was quite....small. Small and ill-mannered it seems. Ravi narrowed his eyes at the smallest of the mutts for a moment; is this to be his brother-in-law? He looked at the other young mutt, who was a lot bigger in comparison. Maybe that was soon to be his lover? It looked promising, for a mutt.

His attention snapped back towards the runt of the litter who spoke rudely. No. He's marrying that one? Ravi glared down at the small wolf; while the size of a person did not mean much to vampire society, how one carries themselves do. Which is why they are seen as seductively charming and pathological liars, it's more of a game of wits. Some take it too far to get ahead in power, which results sometimes in a bloody battle the council still will not get rid of despite the times changing for all the creatures of the night. He digresses. His mother tightens her hold on his arm as a warning for him to behave, despite what the runt so rudely said in the presence of her.

He doesn't know if he can keep that promise to not murder someone.

Ravi turned his attention back towards the oldest, the leader of the clan, whom greeted his mother quite casually. Well, casual to vampiric standards. The way the older mutt speaks to her seems more friendly than respectful only for political attributes. The mistress smiled kindly at the older wolf. "I am well, my friend." She spoke sweetly. Friend? What did his mother do in those two months in the backwoods with them? Ravi raised an eyebrow at the wolf when it kissed his mother's hand; he's quite serious when he asks what the hell happened in those two months. It was beginning to concern yet interest him all the same.

Why could it not be the first born one, who bowed so politely for a mutt like itself. His mother bowed her head with a wide smile at the gesture, a genuine expression despite whom she was aiming it towards. Yet, when the runt was introduced -Connor- the mutt only glared at his mother and him. Ravi returned the expression; who does this runt think he is coming to his mother's manor and acting with so rudeness? Granted, he himself was not happy about this arrangement (he'd rather walk out into the sunlight and let the rays burn him to death), and yet he's , though reluctantly, willing to play nice. His mother sensed the hostility coming off him in waves, squeezing his arm again before she introduced him.

"It is quite nice to meet you two," she said, with her free hand, she gestured towards Ravi, who was still stubbornly glaring at the youngest of the wolf clan. "This is my youngest, Ravana." He grimaced at the way she said her name, a low yet warning tone that he knew all too well. Looking at the oldest and firstborn wolf, he already forget their names, he greeted with a small bow of his head; "Pleasure to meet you." Expect for the youngest. He knows that they will hate each other until the wolf his grey and buried in the backyard like the family dog.

"Come," his mother said. "Dinner will be ready soon." Saying this, she drags Ravi with her as they lead the wolf clan towards the right of the lobby towards the dinning area. He wanted nothing more than to make a sly comment about bringing animals to the dinner table, nearly said it, actually, until he looked down and saw the threatening smile his mother was giving him. Ah, well then. He looked ahead as they walked through the doubled door entry way towards the dinner area. The dinning area was the definition of luxury and show of money. It was of deep golds and paintings, crystals forming the large chandler above the table which stretched across the room.

The dinning table was made of engraved dyed oak, along with the chairs that have cushions of stuffed red satin to match that warm colors of the room. His mother was quite the decorator. "I apologize for my oldest son's, Samuel, absence," his mother said. "He is busy with relations at the moment."

Connor couldn't help the chills that ran down his spine when he was glared at. Well, it was clear that his soon-to-be wedded didn't like Connor more than he liked him. What a great start they were off to. But then again, one couldn't expect much when deciding to play matchmaker with two species that were supposed to be mortal enemies. Nothing makes a relationship stronger than the burning urge to kill one another, amiright?

He was so busy measuring the death glares he was receiving, trying to fight the instinct to turn around and make a run for it, that he barely heard the mistress' introduction. The diversion of his betrothed's attention towards his family allowed him a moment of mental clarity, in which he took mental note of his name. Ravana. He would have to try remembering it. Calling him this to his face was a whole other story than doing so in his head, and he wasn't sure how welcomed this loving nickname would be.

A much less pleasant nickname nearly slipped from his lips at the other's greeting, or rather lack of it. Did that little prick entitled leech just completely ignored him? Oh great, another person that didn't take him seriously. Once again, he was not standing on equal grounds with the rest of his family. That thought sent a sharp pang of pain through his chest and his eyes suddenly dropped to the ground. Fuck. Now was not the time to feel bad for himself. Connor shook his head, mostly mad at himself for letting the opinion of this… Ravana, he mentally corrected himself, affect him so. He can go ahead and propose to either one of them for all he cared. At least he wouldn't have to get married to someone who didn't even considered him worthy of a greeting.

Connor's eyes snapped to the woman when she spoke, only taking in the full meaning of what she said once she was already heading out of the room. Did she just say dinner? What do you mean dinner? And more importantly, what- or who- were they eating? His father was already following the vampires' footsteps, seeming not bothered in the slightest, and Connor turned his head to look at his brother in disbelief. "Dinner?" he silently uttered the word, his eyebrows raised in doubt, causing Oliver to let out a small chuckle at the dramatic expression. "Come on" he nudged him lovingly before he followed the others' footsteps, with Connor towing behind unenthusiastically. Well, if he would become dinner at least he wouldn't have to get married, right?

When they entered the dining room, although he saw more than enough clues to what he was about to encounter, Connor was still a little shocked. Just how much money did these people have? It's not like he grew up poor or anything, but that was some royalty level shit. Once again, his eyes kept him busy enough that he wasn't fully aware of his surroundings (not the smartest thing when you're in a house full of vampires), that is, until his attention was called through his ears. "There's nothing to apologize for" his father was smiling at his new bestie "we'll have plenty of opportunities to meet. Tonight the most important thing is for the younglings to get to know each other" the smile was now turned towards Ravana and Connor, a hand soon following to be placed on the latter's shoulder. The frown that appeared on Connor's face was unavoidable, but he would do just fine without the hint of pink that colored his cheeks at that last comment, thank you very much. God, this was all too embarrassing- the arranged marriage, their families being there to supervise everything, and the not so subtle hints to the whole situation.

And things were just getting better. Of course that when the butlers- one for each person in the room, mind you- seated them, Connor found himself sitting right next to thi… Ravana. Shit, it was harder than he expected.

With the not in the slightest concealed looks his father was giving him from across the table, a meaningful and encouraging smile on his face, he diverted his eyes, looking for something- anything- else to look at. Unfortunately, they landed right on his future… husband? Does this mean he was the wife? Oh, hell no. No chance in hell he would… 'wait, focus' he had to remind himself. There was still a chance he was about to become someone's meal. He eyed the man beside him suspiciously while quietly sniffing the air, wondering if he would be able to smell something that would hint to the direction in which the night will go. Surprisingly, a pleasant scent filled his nose. It wasn't food, at least not anything he ever tasted. It also seemed to be coming from somewhere very close to him, but he wasn't able to pinpoint the source of that new, sweet, strange smell.

It was only then that he realized he just might have been staring (or glaring. He wasn't sure what expression he wore for those last few minutes). His eyes shot to the other side of the table, where a pleasant conversion seemed to already be taking place while the rest were waiting for the food to be served. Crap. He sneaked another glance at his future whatever. Should he say something? But he really didn't want to talk to him. Not to mention he had no idea what to say even if he did. He still couldn't forgive him for blatantly ignoring him just moments earlier.

It took all of Ravi's willpower as to not gag at the smile the oldest mutt gave his mother. It was genuine, the kind one would give to a close friend or lover. Something must have happened for them to be so relaxed when regarding one another with such endearing looks. He hopes it's not what he thinks his mother did during her political trip with the leader of the mutts. When the elder wolf regard himself and his runt of a lover, he cleared his throat. Swallowing the harsh laugh the tickled his throat. Them? Getting to know each other? He rather get to know the ins and outs of a stake, along with its craftsmanship than be alone with this rude stray. His mother thought otherwise; "Oh, do not worry about that darling," darling? "They will have plenty of time after dinner."

He resents his mother with all of his forsaken soul for settling this arrangement with the mutt.

Speaking of the stray. Ravi glanced lazily at the runt, noting the frown in his direction. Ah, the hatred really is too evident to hide at this point. But, the slight flush was odd. Maybe if the wolf was more, polite, maybe even carried itself with better mannerism, he would be more wiling to swallow his disgust towards their arranged bond. However, here they are, with Ravi so close to just saying how he felt regardless of the punishments that would be waiting for him. Frowning back at the runt of a mutt, he let the servant lead him to his seat to the right side of his mother whom sat at the head of the table. He took, in a deep breath, feeling his shoulders let go of some of its stiffness, that is, until his lover was sat to his own right.

In their society, a vampire's lover was sat on the side of their none dominant hand. Symbolizing how the relationship was equal between the two in how they support one another. It made bile burn the back of his throat that the rude runt was sitting at that very spot. "I hope the trip wasn't too long, O'ceallaigh," his mother began, sitting with perfect posture as she regarded the elder wolf. He could tell that his mother his putting some flirtatious charm into that sentence, something Ravi never wanted to witness in his immortal life. Thankfully, a servant came in and set down a glass full of a thick deep red liquid in front of himself and his mother before trotting back into the kitchen to finish the food. While yes, vampires need blood to survive, they can indulge themselves in food. Though, it did nothing to relieve the hungry.

Twirling the wine glass, Ravi turned his attention on his drink rather than the conversation happening around him. He took a sniff of the liquid; hm, the donor was quite healthy. Blood type A, much sweeter than the other blood types. And his favorite. Wrapping his lips around the rim of the glass, he took a long sip. Hm, it wasn't as warm if it was still coursing through the human's bloodstream. Oh well. Licking the red from his lips, he took another sip before locking eyes his mother. She gave him a raised eyebrow, glancing at the runt next to him before turning her gaze back to him. No. He's not going to socialize with that rude dog, and he conveyed this with a frown and his own raised eyebrow. Setting his wine glass down gently onto the table.

His mother did not seem to like that answer, raising her other eyebrow even as she talked to the mutts on the other side of the table. With every glance she gave him, she would narrow her eyes. Hell, he could even feel the runt glancing at him as well. With a silent exhale, Ravi looked at his mother with defeat, whom smiled brightly at the torture she thrust upon him so early in his life. Keeping his rude remarks in check, he finally looked over at his lover. Tilting his head as he regarded the mutt. "Are you alright, Puică*?" Ravi spoke lowly, his mother nudging his leg underneath the table as a warning.

He refuses to let the mutts name taint his tongue and mouth. After he asked this, the servants came in to serve them appetizers. The appetizers the chiefs thought suited this day was ratatouille; the colors of the vegetables vibrant with the head chief's own homemade secret sauce that was drizzled lovingly over the food. Despite it not being filling, the taste itself was a favorite of Ravi's. His mother his really giving him all of his favorites to keep his behavior in check for this occasion.

The conversation going on between the two masterminds behind their lovely setting was a somewhat blissful distraction from the current situation. Connor narrowed his eyes at the mistress as she addressed his father so familiarly, giving his father the exact same look as he answered her "Not at all" another wide, kind smile "it's practically coming to visit the neighbors". Ew. He knew his father was friendly in nature, but what the hell was all this buddy-buddy polite shit with the vampires? For crying out loud, they already agreed (albeit reluctantly so) to everything. Was there really a need to continue with this façade? Or… dear lord, was he actually fond of the matriarch leech? Maybe he was going senile. He should probably tell Oliver to keep an eye on him just in case.

The quiet 'clink' of something being placed down near him made Connor break his current train of thought as he automatically turned to look what it was. His eyes landed on the glass in the exact same moment the metallic smell got to his nose. Shocked, he watched as his intended brought the glass to his lips and casually drank from its contents. It's not like the vampire's diet itself was a surprise but seeing it live… would he also have to drink that? The thought alone made him a little queasy. No, wait, but if he did the servants would bring them all glasses. Then they weren't expected to drink any blood, thank god, but what were they supposed to eat? Would they just sit there and watch as the bloodsuckers get their fix? Or was this just the appetizer and they were the main course? God, with how trusting his father seemed of the mistress, he wouldn't be surprised if he walked them straight into a trap.

He was so hypnotized by the dark liquid in the elegant glass that it took him a moment to realize someone was talking to him. No, not someone. "What?" his eyes snapped to look at Ravana, surprised enough that he almost forgot to be hostile. The direct approach, the question itself and the almost melodic voice in which it was asked all confused him. And wait, what was that last thing he said? He couldn't say for sure, but did he just call him names? "Like you care" he muttered thought gritted teeth, still not over the offense of their initial greeting. And now that asshole even had the nerve to patronize him by using what he assumed was some cuss word in a language he didn't even know? Great, this whole thing was just getting better by the second. Connor desperately wanted to just drop everything and run away. Get up there and then, cancel this whole ridiculous thing and go live out his days somewhere far away. But of course, he couldn't do that. Stupid wolf loyalty. He made a promise to his father and his clan, and there was no way he would be able to break that promise. Given the fact he was never given much of a choice though, more than anything else Connor just felt trapped.

The plate of food that was placed in front of him, although looking as tasty as it smelled, didn't get him too excited at the moment. He watched as his family began eating the food without any kind of hesitation, and by the looks on their faces they seemed to like it too. Of course, if it was poisoned they would probably be able to smell it, so the leeches weren't trying to kill them for now. He'll give them that. Picking up his fork, he went about stubbing his own food, moving the vegetables on his plate from one side to the other listlessly. He was just not in the mood for eating. "It's delicious" he could hear his father complementing the dish, which only caused his frown to deepen. He was so glad that his old man enjoyed himself on his expense. Well, at least someone was enjoying this whole situation.

A sharp pain in his shin made Connor snap out of his head, and his head to snap up. Across the table, Oliver was giving him a meaningful look, his eyes dropping to look at his still full plate before going back up to catch Connor's, both eyebrows raised high on his forehead. Damn Oliver with his manners and those stupid long legs. Letting out a small sigh, he lifted a small forkful of food into his mouth, carefully chewing the vegetables. Okay, fine, it really was tasty. Does that mean he would at least get to enjoy good food in his future golden cage? Actually, now that he thought about it, he wasn’t even sure where would this prison be. He never really gave much thought to what would happen after they would get married. Up until that point he was pretty much in denial, preoccupied mostly by just how much he really didn't want to do it. But after tonight, it seemed like the verdict was final, and he had no choice but to start thinking of his… their future. Would they live with his clan? With the leeches? Or would it be somewhere just the two of them…

That last thought caused him to panic a little. He could feel his heartbeat quicken for a moment as his eyes shot once again to Ravana. How would that scenario turn out for fuck's sake? There was no way they could live together just the two of them, with them both making it out alive. Luckily, as he turned to look at his lover, he caught sight of something else that distracted him all together. Right there, in front of his bloodsucker, a plate just like his own was placed. "You're eating?" he asked confused, the question slipping from his lips before he had the chance to think of it. Never in his life had he heard of vampires eating anything resembling real food. That was a shocker.

Of course, a moment later he realized what he just did. The color his face wore this time was a dark shade of red. Crap. Crap, crap, crap. What was he thinking just saying something stupid like that to this idiot? His head dropped, eyes locked on his hands as he wished with all his might that the ground would swallow him whole. He could literally feel his body tense, bracing itself for the snarky comment he just knew was about to come from his future husband.

The scene that was certainly unfolding between his mother and the old wolf made Ravi's stomach turn violently. Nauseating him even further at the way the mutt replied. Mother of hell, this was so much further than an unusual friendship between mortal enemies. He's never seen his mother this invested when it came to any meeting with political stand points, she wasn't even this charming with the council during their monthly visitations. It couldn't be true but, was mother actually fond of the animal? No, Ravi doesn't want to dwell any deeper into that thought. Setting down his fork, Ravi took another sip from his wine glass. Hoping that the thick liquid will drown out any conclusions he had about those two who were just so casually conversing with ease.

Ravi raised an eyebrow at the confused shock on the runt's face. It was, somewhat endearing seeing that expression on its face instead of its usual glare. No, actually, it shouldn't be something seen as endearing on such a creature. More, refreshing to know that it at least has a range of diverse emotions. Whatever it was his mind was trying to make up, the confusion didn't last long on the runt's face. Who once again muttered such rudeness without a thought. Ravi narrowed his eyes, his grip tightening on the utensil in hand. All he did was try to be a little respectful and acknowledge the runt, going against how little he really cares.

Ravi turned his eyes to his mother conveying how wrong she was at making him try and socialize with the mutt. And that she shouldn't have ever thought so highly of these flea carriers, along with marrying him off to one like this ill-mannered mutt seated next to him. Though, his mother only took his silent rage in step, giving him an apologetic yet encouraging smile only a mother would. Ravi stabbed at his ratatouille, bringing the food to his mouth and biting down harshly on the sweet vegetables. He hated how he deflates so easily towards his mother's whims. At the compliment the elder mutt gave towards the food, his mother grinned widely, twirling the wine glass as if to convey shyness. "Come now, O'Ceallaigh," she pouted playful and he really wishes to be dismissed from the dinner table at this very moment. "If I could, I would blush at your compliments."

Where were the servants with the main course, he needs a distraction from this subtly forward flirting his mother was doing right in front of him. Going back to his food, Ravi felt his fangs itch to extend due to suppressed irritation of his mother's flirting and the runt's rudeness. As soon as dinner is over, he's going to retire to his room. Ah, though, he doesn't know about the chamber arrangements. Was the runt going to stay with him in his room or will he be sent away to their barbaric land? The limited options did not bode well with him; every one leads to him having to spend more time with the runt without trying to kill it. Maybe poison would do better, dogs are allergic to chocolate.

The runt is talking to him? Ravi glanced at the dog, squinting at the question asked of him. Does it really know so little about vampires? (Oh, the runt's blushing.) Then again, not many assumes they can eat food that's heart wasn't still beating. He wanted nothing more than to spit insults the mutt's way, to let the other regret his words even more. He felt a sharp gaze at the back of his head, and fearfully knew who it belonged to. Fine, he'll play along. More so since Ravi fear's what would await him if he didn't. Gently stabbing the last piece of his dish, he gave the runt a cynical smirk. Swirling the fork of food lazily. "Well, it is food." He looks back at the fork of food, bringing it slowly to his lips before continuing. "And while it isn't fulfilling." Ravi's smirked widened, showing off his two sets of fangs. "I do very much enjoy the taste."

Licking his lips, Ravi finally ate the last piece of food on his fork, maintaining eye contact with the mutt. Hm, its heart really is beating quite fast. It's very distracting. He wonders if he should tell the runt that he could hear its heart pound so pitifully until his mother regarded him. "Ravi, darling," damn that woman for using his nickname in from of the band of strays. "After dinner, would you like to show Connor around the gardens?" Was his mother serious? The gardens was a place he loved the most about the manor besides the field of poppies further within the woods. And she wants this mutt to taint his sanctuaries? He knows, even if it was a question, he had no choice. Ravi felt his jaw twitch, feeling his fangs extend ever so slightly, which he hid as effectively as he could as he drank more from the wine glass before answering with a low; "But of course, mother."

Then, the servants came in to serve dinner, interrupting the angry retort on his tongue. The choice for today was beef bourguignon, the aroma of the beef, broth of beer, and fresh parsley coming together for the delectable smell. Another one of his favorites, his mother really was pulling out all the stops. The servants served each member of the table, piling them on their plates before also giving them a smaller plate of rustic date and apple pastry. Ravi wanted to stubbornly keep his anger uncontrollable, but, with a frown that says how much he didn't want to indulge, he still took a bite of his food. Watching lazily as the servant filled his wine glass and his mother's back up before retreating back into the kitchen.

The short silence that followed his idiotic question had Connor all wired up. God, he should not have said that. He knew it was childish, but he almost wanted to close his eyes and pretend that all of this wasn't happening. Instead, at the first words spoken to him he found himself lifting them up to look at his own personal torture. Much to his surprise, the words spoken to him, although filled with disdain, weren't as bad as he thought they would be. His eyes seemed to unconsciously follow the fork in Ravana's hand, following to his mouth where his fangs were exposed. For some reason, he decided to hold Connor's gaze captive, and for some reason he wasn't able to set himself free. The whole thing was making him very uncomfortable, in a very unfamiliar way.

Maybe he was being hypnotized. Could vampires do that? If they did, he didn't like that one bit. Thank the lord, that woman talking allowed him to finally break off the continual eye contact and try to get back some of his sanity. Maybe she wasn't as bad as he thought. She even gave him a little gift to use in his upcoming marriage. Ravi… he quietly smirked to himself at the name. Not that he thought he would ever use it out loud, but it was always a good thing to accumulate ammunition… just in case. Besides, there was a sense of superiority in calling the bloodsucker by his nickname, even if it was just in his head. The small flame of not-hatred that ignited in him towards his future mother-in-law was quickly put out at her next words. Oh god. Him? And the leech? In the gardens? Together? Alone? Thanks, but no thanks. 'Please say no' he offered a silent prayer. It didn't look like the other liked the idea any more than he did. 'Please say no, please say no, please say…' Connor felt his heart drop to his stomach as his hope was shattered into a million tiny pieces at his response. Thanks a lot Ravi. There was nothing he could think of to get himself out of this makeshift date.

To make things worse, his father seemed to feel the urge to keep his manners in check. "That sounds like a great idea. Right Connor?" that question wasn't in fact a question, but a command. Glaring at his father for a moment before he answered, Connor pressed his lips together for just a second before he opened them again "it does. Thank you" he forced the words out of his mouth. Great. Just great.

He barely noticed the new course that was placed before him, and was barely able to eat it. His stomach was in a fucking Gordian knot. He didn’t want to spend time alone with his leech. It was like they were trying to make things as painful as they could. It was bad enough that he would have to somehow spend the rest of his life with him, but he would at least try and spend as little time of it as he could together. Also, something about spending time together just the two of them made him nervous. What would they do? What would they talk about? It was obvious that at the moment it was their parents that were operating them, almost like they were some kind of ventriloquists with to very uncooperative dummies.

Picking at his food, Connor spent the rest of dinner sneaking glances at the man beside him, and mostly ignoring everything that was going on. The only thing on his mind was the dreaded task at hand, and his mind desperately tried coming up with a way to get out of it, but to no avail. When their plates were finally cleared (ironically, the one that didn't actually need the food seemed to have eaten a lot more than he did), he could feel himself getting even more nervous. Quick, if he would say something, anything, maybe he would be able to buy some time, and then maybe it would just get too late to… "Would you mind accompanying us for a cup of coffee?" his father offered his arm to mother dearest, who seemed to be pleased "we brought some treats we would love for you to try". What the actual hell. Was he really enjoying it or something?

Looking in panic after his father's back as he was leaving them, Connor turned a pleading look towards his brother. Please, please, please, don't let him stay alone with him. His silent begging seemed to be in vain however, seeing that Oliver only gave him a small, encouraging smile before he too left the room.

Bad. This was really bad. He didn't want to spend any time alone with the parasite. That means they will actually have to talk. Of course, the more he thought about it, the more he realized that he couldn’t avoid it forever. After all, he was to marry prince charming. Maybe it was like ripping a bandaid- the faster he would do it, the better. He took in a deep breath (that sweet smell was there again, but what was it?) before letting the air out in a loud exhale. "Look" he turned his gaze to look at Ravi "we both know we don't want to do this. I don't know what's your story, but clearly you had as much say in this as I had" unless you really are an asshole, an option he didn't quite disregarded completely "now you don't have to do anything to please mommy, so why don't you just go burn some time somewhere? Unless you want to be productive and set some ground rules starting now. Unfortunately you won't be able to pay anyone to do that for you" that last remark was added more quietly and with as much venom Connor could gather. There was no point in pretending being friendly with someone who clearly disliked him so much. Might as well just get things out in the open

Ravi could hear the clear reluctance when the runt answered the elder mutt's question. This only furthered his hatred towards these untrained dogs; why couldn't mother simply set him up with another vampire? At least then he wouldn't have to worry so much on spousal murder than he does with this very rude runt. He continued to eat, ignoring the rest of the conversations floating about so carelessly. And yet the air between himself and his lover was thick with tension.

They would not even survive an hour together, let alone the rest of their lives. However, now that Ravi thinks about it, the runt's life is a short one. He doesn't know how he could forget such an important fact about the mutts. His lover's fleeting life would be over in a second for himself. So this was a small, and yet unnecessarily important, bump in the road. That small positive outlook, though encouraging to Ravi, did little to relieve the bigger issue. He's to marry a mutt. Besides the substantively short life span, he was still stuck with a flea carrying stray for a couple of decades.

After taking one last sip of blood, dinner was over. His plate clear of any remnants of food as the servants cleared off the table with grace and quickness. They really do have their work cut out for them. Maybe he could convince mother to let him give a hand to the help. Just to keep from spending any alone time with this runt. Well, the idea wasn't able to become true when the elder stray offered his mother a cup of coffee and treats. Ravi nearly scoffed at the other, his mother never was fond of the taste of caffeine. And yet, she still said; "Oh darling, I would very much love to." Before , with all sesne of elegance and grace, taking the mutt's offered arm. No, she can't just so suddenly leave him in this room with the runt. But there she went, laughing flirtatious at what ever the leader of the mutts said. Dainty as she strolled so casually in step with the other. Honestly, he might become sick at the sight.

With a deep sigh, Ravi accepted his fate. Narrowing his eyes at the table top. There's not a single doubt in his mind that the runt would be difficult about this alone time they have. And he's nothing less than ready for the burning rage to develop within himself. Even as Ravi braced himself, what the runt said next caught him entirely off guard.

The runt was actually being quite, sensible. Ravi turned a surprised gaze down towards his lover. Well, it did gain just a tad bit of his respect. However, as the mutt kept talking, that small respect went up in smoke. Ah, there it is, the runts true feelings. It really knows so little about his clan to even assume such a thought. With a livid look, Ravi decides to give the runt a piece of his mind.

"You're correct, I very much disdain mutts like you." He rested his left arm onto the table. Laying his cheek into the palm so his gaze was fully facing the runt. "Though I disagree with mother, she never was wrong on her political decisions. So I'm willing to be somewhat civil. But," Ravi leaned into the other's face, being able to smell faintly the blood coursing through its body.(it was shockingly sweet) "Continue to talk to me or my mother with such disrespect, and I'll find a better way to end this arrangement."

A slow, morbid grin stretched across Ravi's face before he stood up. Running his gloved fingers through his slicked back hair. "Maybe if you acted like you had manners, runt, then I'd take you more seriously. Maybe even have a tad of respect for you." With that, he walked towards a different exit of the dinning hall. Wanting to be alone than with this mutt that angered him so easily with disrespectful mannerisms. They're going to kill one another before the night is over.

The sharp pain Connor felt when Ravi admitted he in fact despised him came as quite a surprise. Sure, his own tone and actions did more than enough to convey the same message, but hearing it put so blatantly into words… he never thought hearing it would affect him so.

He should have seen the backlash that would come at his own rudeness, but when Ravi leaned forward and into his own personal space, Connor visibly flinched. Just who the hell gave him the right to talk about respect? He had been nothing but rude to him from the moment they met. He was no different than all the other people that ever looked down on him, maybe even worse because this one didn't have any connection to him. Well, no real connection at least.

It was also then that Connor realized where this strange, sweet smell was coming from. At first he thought it might be flowers, maybe a perfume someone in the mansion wore or some kind of air freshener, but now that Ravi was so close to him he finally realized. That strange but very pleasant combination of what smelled like orange blossoms, sunshine and something else he couldnt quite identify, was none other than his betrothed. In fact, now that the scent was so close to him that it filled his mind and his lungs, Connor felt a little hazy, almost like he was being drugged. And the contradiction between the intoxicating smell and the person who emitted it didn't help any.

When the other smiled at him (if you could call that expression a smile), a new wave of chills ran down his spine. He watched as Ravi stood up, towering over him as he was still seated, listening in shock as the other confirmed his suspicions regarding him. So he was right… he really did thought very poorly of him, seeing him as someone… unworthy. The moment that word popped into his head, he felt like someone punched the air out of him. It was like the reality of the whole situation- the forced arrangement, the fact he didn't have a choice, and that, once again, he wasn't good enough, was all hitting him at once.

Connor could feel his eyes sting as tears threatened to spill out of them. 'Shit' he thought. He could definitely not let the other see him like that. He would not give him the satisfaction of knowing he was able to shake him this way. "Go to hell" he hissed as he abruptly stood up, his voice strained as he was still fighting those god damn tears. He had to get out of there. Now. Storming out the way he came from, as going the other way would mean following the last person he wanted to see right now, Connor found himself in a dilemma. He certainly couldn't go into the room where he could hear the others talking and laughing, but he really had no desire to wander around aimlessly in the unfamiliar mansion and take the chance he would accidently run into Ravi. Outside it is then, he decided as he hurried through the front doors, not even bothering to close them behind him as he stepped into the chilly night. He walked as fast as he could without running, passing through the acres of trees that seemed to surround the estate. He was angry, frustrated, offended… he desperately wanted to wake up and find out this was all just a bad dream. But it wasn't- it was his reality, and the one he would live in for the rest of his life for that matter. That thought made him even angrier- sure, the parasite will have to give up on a century or two, seeing that werewolves had a life span two to three times longer than that of normal people, but after that he would be free to do as he likes. For Connor, this was a life sentence.

Crap. He stopped under a large wisteria tree, feeling that the cascading white flowers could hide him from the rest of the world, even if only for a few moments. Leaning against it, he almost collapsed onto the ground, feeling the weight of the realization pulling him further and further down. This was the worst. It might have been a little more bearable, if it wasn't for the rotten character of his lover. Connor knew he had obligations that came with his position, and he was ready to make sacrifices for his clan. He couldn't refuse even if he wanted to- it was in his very nature to protect the others no matter what. That was just how they were built. Sure, in the beginning his hatred was mostly directed at the situation, and not necessarily at his fiancé, and maybe with a little bit of time he could have gotten used to it, maybe even find some kind of fulfillment in knowing he was helping his clan. But the way he treated him right from that first moment… he might not have hated him so much if he wasn't being such an asshole. The whole thing was so unfair.

Leaning his head back against the tree and closing his eyes, Connor gritted his teeth as he felt a few drops roll down his cheeks despite his best efforts. He wiped them away with the back of his hand, still keeping his eyes closed as he tried to take deep breaths and calm himself down. God he hoped there weren't any other bloodsuckers living in that cursed place- the last thing he wanted was one of those finding him when he was this upset.

Ah, hearing the way the runt's heart thump so loudly at Ravi's words made a twisted joy coil deeply within himself. Honestly, he doesn't even quite understand how that is what effects the runt so much. It's not as if it wasn't acting kindly to them, so it at least should've expected that. He saw the obvious hatred from generational conditioning that came with being a mutt. Though, it did give him enjoyment. A sadistic smile appeared on Ravi's face as he turned around to hear the last pitifully insult come from the runt before it ran off from the dinning hall with its tail between its legs. He couldn't help the small chuckle, before he turned around and nearly skipped down the hidden corridor.

Now this, he could get use to; seeing that runt get knocked down a peg before running off with its broken pride. Ravi threw his head back as he laughed a bit louder. God, he could use to that sight. Maybe he could even dig a bit deeper next time, see just how fast he can make the runt cry. Ravi's laughing shrunk to a few low chuckles now as he made his way up a spiraling, dark, concrete staircase. There was many passages in the manor, some even having more passages within them. They came in handy a couple of centuries ago, though now, they're not very needed.

Hm, what if the runt got lost? Ravi stopped at thought; not only was the manor itself a labyrinth, the woods around them went on for acres and the trees were quite dense. He shook his head, continuing the pace he set for himself; it's of no concern to him. The runt was the one who ran off blindly, not taking into account that it was on unknown land. Oh well, seems like the arrangement is off. How dreadful. Snorting, Ravi makes it to a two way painting. Pushing it open where it opened up to a hallway not far from where his chambers were.

Closing it back, Ravi turned left, heading towards his chambers to rest. What if his mother asks where the runt was? He came to a screetching halt; he could always lie and say the runt just blew up on him. Though, she knows him too well. Damn it. Ravi let out a frustrated groan, turning around and walking back towards the secret passage he came out of.

Why couldn't the runt wallow in its self loathing in the dinner hall instead rushing out and getting itself lost? Ravi went back through the painting before slamming it back, briskly walking back down the staircase before stopping on the landing. He closed his eyes, focusing on his hearing; he hears two heart beats in the manor, and a third one, faintly, outside. Opening his eyes, which flashed a bright red, he went to the door underneath the staircase and ran down the hall in blinding speed. Of course the runt went inside the dense woods without a thought that there are other vampires besides them. They wouldn't be a clan if that wasn't the case.

Getting to a smaller set of stairs that led to a door on the ceiling, Ravi pushed it open a bit harsher than necessary. The door swinging open and hitting the grass covered ground. The outside the wind was blowing softly, making the trees sway lazily with the stairs shining behind the branches as a beautiful backdrop. It did nothing to alieve his anger. Coming out from the hidden door, Ravi kicked it back before stomping in the direction of the lone heartbeat.

When he sees the runt, he's going to drain him dry and hide what's left of the body somewhere in the woods. Yes, his mother would come to kill him, so would the clan of strays. That's why he's ready to live off the grid and far from any territories. Consequences meaning shit. Ravi stops a couple of feet from a tree, white flowers glowing from the moonlight as they hung low. Oh. It's been awhile since he's been to this tree. Though, it wasn't the same tree. Looking down at the trunk, he sees the runt sitting there, seeming curled into itself.

Was, it actually crying? Ravi paused; he did boasted about how he made the runt cry but, he didn't mean literally. Why was the runt crying? It had no right to shed tears when it had similar feelings towards him. Ravi took a few cautious steps towards the wolf, wondering what to say. He did let the runt have it not that long ago.

"Connor," he called out. "Are you cry--."

"Well, look what he have here."

Ravi jolted to a fighting stance, looking in the direction of where the voice came from. There stood a man, about his forties, with waist length hair pulled back. He stood tall and with superiority, his hands clasped behind his back as he looked between Ravi and the mutt.

"Councillor Manson," he breathed; out of all of the barbaric councilmen, Manson was the one that had more of a twisted aura to him. And the one whom was protesting the most on his mother's decision of brining the clan together. Very little is known about Manson before he became a councilmen, however, his previous sights were on his mother spoke volumes of his character. Trying to woo her with the knowledge that if they married, he would become on equal standing with her.

Ravi loathes him.

"I did not expect to see you here on this beauty of a night, the councilman said. A strained smile on his face as he bowed, straightening back up before settling his eyes on the runt. His eyes flashing a deep red before returning to its normal dull blue. "Ah, and is this Lord Ravana's new pet?"

With a growl, Ravi stood in front of the wolf to block him from the councilman's sight. While they both agreed on how much they both hated this rash decision his mother made, he would not put it pass Manson for physically doing something about this. "You're not welcomed here, Councilman Manson. This is a private event between two families, you are merely apart of the council." Ravi grinned at the elder vampire, fangs lengthening as he spoke; "Or, would rather ask mother on her opinion on this matter?"

The councilman's face dropped to seething rage at the threat. Ah, looks like someone is not fond of the idea.

For a while, it was quite. Really quite. Connor didn’t mind it at all. After the stressful evening, not having to listen to stupid chitchat or being insulted was a welcomed change. With his eyes closed, his hearing got even better and he could hear his own breathing, the wind passing through the trees, a few distant owls… the only thing he couldn't hear was other people. It was understandable then, why he jumped what seemed like a few good feet in the air when someone called his name.

His eyes snapped open to look at Ravi. Damn that bloodsucker was scarily quiet. How the hell did he manage to sneak up on him without him hearing a thing? And how did he find him to begin with? He was about to open his mouth to deny any hint to him crying, but instead found himself having another mini heart attack when a new voice joined their conversation.

Fucking hell, just how quiet these parasites were?

His eyes quickly shifted to search for the source of the voice, landing on its owner after a moment. That smug face, condescending tone and over-confident stance… Connor hated him instantly. He didn't know who the new bloodsucker was, but he sure seemed like an entitled asshole. Like, more than his own fiancé. And what was it with that smarmy greeting? Connor eyed him suspiciously as he bowed (he bowed), closely following him. He never trusted people like that- they always had an ulterior motive they were hiding. And sure enough, moments after he straightened again, his cold blue eyes (did those just turn red for a moment or was he imagining?) locked on Connor's.

At the next words out of his mouth, he took an instinctive step forward as a low growl slipped from his lips. He was surprised to hear a similar voice come from Ravi, and even more surprised that he moved to stand between them. That gesture confused him. At first, he thought he was trying to hide him, embarrassed by the older vampire's comment. He wouldn't be too surprised if that was the case- Ravi made it more than clear how he felt about him. But something about him… he didn’t seem ashamed. It was more like he was angry and… protective? Connor blinked a few times in Ravi's direction, not sure if what he was seeing was real. But there it was again- in his tone as he spoke and in his very words- he was clearly not very fond of that Manson character. Well, at least they had that in common. "Is being an asshole a prerequisite to joining you or something?" he mumbled behind his back, teeth bared just a little at the newly introduced leech.

Oh, the older parasite was not happy with the way he was talked to. Connor couldn’t say he cared too much after he dared calling him a pet. "Who the hell do you think you are?" he narrowed his eyes at the councilman as he stepped forward, slowly closing the distance between them "and what gives you the right to talk to me like that?" he finally stopped when he was standing just a little in front of Ravi. As much as he appreciated the gesture, his pride still didn't allow him to just let the other defend him like that, especially after the way he talked to him earlier. They may have had a common enemy right now, but they were no where close enough for him to allow him to fight his own battles for him. Besides, he was getting tired of the way everyone was treating him that night- a tool, a doll, a pest, and now a pet?

"Listen here, councilor" he clearly articulated every words, trying to keep his cool despite the fact he wanted nothing more than to shift and lunge right at the bloodsucker's throat "the next time you dare call me that, I will personally make sure that nobody will ever listen to anything you have to say. And I don’t care how" he threatened, his golden eyes still locked on those of the bloodsucker, burning with rage. Although he tried to never result to violence unless he didn't have any other choice, a threat that could be interpreted in few different ways wasn't violent per-se, right?

The tension was quite thick now, and Ravi could only hope his mother would be able to hear the commotion over her oh so subtle flirty remarks towards the elder wolf. Then again, she would've been here by now if she did unless something was distracting her. The thought makes Ravi want to eat a bowl of garlic. Though, he's not against having to take matters into his own hands. Besides his mother not being well liked among the councilmen, they despised him even more. All because of how he came to be, which Ravi knows that's not below the old fools . Considering how much they love to somehow include that known fact into any meeting that has nothing to do with it. Manson looked as if he was ready to committee treason all for the sake of his fickle pride. Ravi couldn't wait to dig in deeper if it meant the councilman would make a rash decision and be elected off the council.

He glanced back at the runt's remark. Any other time, Ravi might've of scolded the rude remark, maybe even roll of a piece of paper and smack him with it (he knows he's never done this before, they just met. But that thought was satisfying enough). But to see Manson snarl and lose composure at being talked down upon by a mere runt, he's more than willing to entertain this. "Hm, usually we require only a small amount of asshole so when they are turned, it would balance out. Though," his smirk widened. "I feel that they didn't fully took the level of asshole Councilman Manson is." Ah, the runt's sailfish antics was rubbing off on him. It felt disgusting pleasing, especially with the end result of the councilman nearly turning red in the face.

Ravi raised an eyebrow when said runt stood in front of him and regarded the Councilman. This mutt was either very much an idiot for speaking out like this, or somewhat courageous. He's somewhat leaning towards the first option at the moment. Manson glared down at the small wolf, sneering as he raised his nose up as he spoke; "And whom do you think you're talking to, mutt?" The councilman took a step forwards, though Ravi won't allow this. It wouldn't go over well with his mother if he let his lover get killed. No matter how tempting. And it's very much tempting. So, he leaned a bit behind the wolf, his height towering over the runt in a display of possessiveness. (After this he'll have to cleanse himself from how close they are together, he can perfectly smell the runt's sickeningly sweet blood. And could acutely hear its heart beat continuously.)

And to make matters worse, for the wolf that is since he's very much enjoying the sour look that was coming about the councilman's face, the runt even threatened the other vampire so boldly. Yeah, the runt was idiotic. Manson let out an inhuman snarl, moving towards the runt with every step showing his evident intent to kill. Hastily, Ravi moved the runt back behind him and growled at the councilman. Feeling his own face contort in a way. This isn't good, he might actually have to fight this vampire. And for the runt's sake, of all things. This was not how he imagined this awaited fight to start, but oh well.

"Take a step closer, Councilman. I insist." It's been awhile since he got into a fight, and Manson wasn't backing down it seems. "Connor, I advise you to go back into the manor this very moment if you do not wish to be harmed." He swears, if this runt stays stubborn he'll help Manson kill it.

"You're protecting this mutt? This thing that was let into this clan?" Manson growled, seemingly willing to fight but still having the consequences in mind. Ravi opened his mouth to correct the vampire, but thought better of it; no, he didn't care about what the runt gets itself into, nor the punishments that happens to it from its poor choices. However, he has to do this for the sake of this mother. And, to keep face for the Valentino name. Also because he just really loathes Manson with all of his damned soul and wants to see that horrid face contort into shock.

"I'm protecting my lover," he emphasizes, watching with pure childlike joy when Manson took a step back at his words. Not seeming to know what to say back to that.

He'll remember that face for the rest of eternity.

The angrier Manson got, the happier Connor was. He would not let a mere councilman, and a bloodsucker to boot, to talk down to him. Despite everything, he was still the son of the leader of the O'ceallaigh clan, and although never one to care too much about formalities he still had his pride to uphold.

A small part of him was surprised to hear Ravi go along with his insults. Guess he dislikes the older leech more than he does him. But that sudden change of attitude… of course he was a two-faced, deceitful, untrustworthy snake of a person. It was like he was doing his best to perpetuate all the stereotypes about vampires. Connor wondered if he sleeps in a coffin as well… wait, he was getting bedsides the point. Right now the most important thing was focusing on angry Dracula, not on the other condescending prick. And why was he thinking about him so much to begin with? He wasn't important enough to occupy his mind like that and… shit. He was doing that again.

Maybe it was because all of a sudden his betrothed was close to him. Very, very close to him. He didn’t know how he knew it, seeing that the other didn't emit any heat and didn’t have a heartbeat for him to hear, but he could just… feel him suddenly towering over his back. He was doing his best to fight the urge to turn around and push him away. It wasn't natural to let something like that get to close to him, but right now the bloodsucker in front of him was even more of a threat, clearly hostile towards him.

'Wait' Connor's eyes suddenly widened at the thought 'what if this whole setup was really a trap?'. If it was, then he was completely surrounded. He didn't have too much time to consider this theory, seeing that Manson was now snarling, clearly aiming to attack him. Connor's body coiled, an answer growl trying to escape through his now exposed teeth. He was doing his best to hold back from shifting, knowing if he did his instincts may take over and cause him to cause a major diplomatic incident. Still, if that parasite thought he would just take him attacking him sitting he was seriously wrong, and…

A small, involuntarily gasp left his lips when he was suddenly pulled back, watching as Ravi once again positioned himself between him and Manson. Was he actually willing to put himself in that potential danger instead of him? Why? Well, maybe he knew the older vampire wouldn't attack him. Still, he could have just let them fight this out. It's not like he cared if anything happened to him, did he? And he didn't look like he was too fond of councilman dickhead either…

Wait, and now he actually urged him to go back inside so he wouldn't get hurt? What was with him? And why the hell did he think he would just run off with his tail between his legs and let others fight his own battles for him? He already opened his mouth to say something about it, when Ravi spoke again, causing Connor to nearly fall down from the shock How did he just call him?

Oh, but look, the other entitled leech seemed just as surprised as he was. That was a good look on him. Connor thought about it for a moment. He could just vent out his anger like he usually did, but there was something more satisfying in seeing that idiot at such a loss. Hmm… maybe he should take a page from his future family's book. After all, he would have to put up some kind of an act for the rest of his life. Might as well start now- at least he will get a reward for it in the form of a very irritated Manson.

Taking a step forward, Connor wrapped his arms around Ravi's right arm, almost hanging on it. Thank god they were both in suits so there was no skin to skin contact. Praying the other wouldn't tear his limbs off, he turned his eyes to look at Ravi, imitating his soon to be mother-in-law for the best of his ability "do you really think I would just go back and leave you here alone?" he said, forcing a small smile on his face. God he hoped he was being believable, because the way he himself was acting was making him sick. "Besides," he added in a low murmur, as if his words were meant only for Ravi's ears, yet knowing fully well that Manson would be able to hear each one of them "we were finally able to get away from them and be alone. I don’t want to go back". Oh god he wanted to go back. Please let him go back. Or just die on the spot. But no, he would not give Manson the satisfaction of seeing him cease.

"Is this maybe jealousy?" he tilted his head as he looked at the no longer so smug older bloodsucker "don't worry, even though you can't have him, I'm sure there's somebody other than your mother that can love your face" he said in a sickeningly sweet voice. Maybe the matriarch leech was good for something after all, he thought before he batted his eyelashes at Manson (something he never did before and hoped he would never have to do again) "or… is it me that you want?"

They continued to stare each other down, Ravi feeling his body ready for the inevitable combat. His mother was going to have his neck for this, but, it was all for the greater good. He was bored at a political dinner involving a marriage he wanted nothing to do with, and Manson came to invoke his own opinion when is presence was banned from the event between the two clans. And well, Ravi knows there should be some punishment for the councilman's evident rule breaking. So he's taking it into his own hands. Rightfully so.

Besides the danger right in front of him in the form of every vampiric stereotype, his mind was intensely on something else; he was voluntarily, though very much reluctantly, protecting the runt whom seems to be digging a deeper and deeper hole for itself. Yes, mother would want him to "sacrifice himself if necessary for his lover." And the thought still nearly gags him at how sickening it was. (Honestly, it would be a miracle if they even became acquaintances.)

And yet, the runt deserves to be at least pushed down a peg. Seeming to think that its invincible to all and could be easily forgiven of its big mouth. It doesn't help that Ravi has his mother's intentions in mind, not when this useless mutt keeps acting this way.

Ah, but he already got himself this involved. There's no way he could possibly go back. Ravi nearly swung his hand away when something warm wrapped itself around his arm. What was even touching him? When he looked down to see it was the runt, he raised an eyebrow. Don't tell him the runt had an abrupt change of heart? Impossible, maybe it was actually scared? The thought, however, never lasted long as the runt continued to speak. His eyes widened, the crimson in them fading away. Was, the runt trying to play a game here? He could see how forced the small smile was, but the runt was still continuing with this.

A sadistic feeling came over Ravi; oh, he wants to see just how long the runt can keep it up. Smirking down at the runt, he lifted a hand and gently caressed his fingers through the strands of its hair. Ravi expected the hair to feel tangled, lice covered even. Not soft to the touch, as if he was petting an animal. Well, he was petting an animal but that's besides to point. He needs to focus. "Draga mea," Ravi whispered, leaning in so that their noses brushed up against one another. Ah, he can really smell the runt like this. Its blood was a lot sweeter than he thought, like the poppies in the woods or apple butter. A concoction so sweet it was intoxicating even after he fed merely an hour or so ago. "I promise, we have all day to be alone together. For us to take our time."

Ugh, he doesn't know how long he can do this without needing to cleanse himself right after this moment. And yet, he breathed in as discretely as he could, that smell was a beautiful one. It made Ravi wonder what that means for the Runt's taste-. No, no he should not be worried about the taste of some mutt. He shouldn't even want to know what it's blood would taste like without murderous intent behind it.

Pushing the thought aside, Ravi looked over at Manson the same time as the runt. Trying to swallow back the bark of laughter. Oh, Manson looks sick, even beyond the realm of shocked. The councilman took a step back, not believeing the display of fondness in front of him. His mouth a gap, not knowing what to say. He's loving this game more and more.

Ravi nearly laughed at the insult aimed at the councilman and the small flirtatious remark at the end. Manson looked as if he was tasting bile on his tongue. Taking it a step further, Ravi gave a small chaste kiss to the runt's forehead. (Its skin was so warm compared to his own, so much softer than he initially though and shit. No. He needs to wash his face after this as well) "Councilman Manson knows better than to take what's mine," he growled softly, a facade of pervasiveness in his voice. He glanced over at the elder vampire. "Isn't that right, Councilman Manson?"

Manson's mouth opened and closed before a sneer appeared on his features. "This is far from over." And then, his body began to change in matter. A mist enveloping his form completely until the councilman was gone.

Ravi paused, listening in to make sure they were really alone before a snort came up. Followed by a few deep chuckles. After that, his body shook with laughter. Oh he's going to rub this in the councilman's face the next meeting they'll have.

Draga mea: My dear(if it's a girl)

Well then, it looked like his fated partner decided giving him a heart attack would be the best way to get rid of Connor and avoid the marriage. Sure, he might have been the one who started it, but he never thought the bloodsucker would actually go along with his plan and even take things further.

In all fairness, when Ravi sent his hand to his head he was pretty positive he was about to rip it off, revenge for him daring to touch him so casually. Instead, the other's long fingers gently combed through his hair, and instead of fighting the urge to run away he found himself fighting the one to lean into the touch. What the hell was he thinking? The hand in his hair was quite a shock, one he tried to snap out of as quickly as possible, but he had no way of knowing that was only the beginning.

He didn't have the chance to mentally slap himself, when suddenly he was once again completely engulfed by that intoxicating scent. He instinctively held his breath the moment the other got so close to him, unable to do anything but to stare at that stupid unnaturally beautiful face from up close. And this closeness, combined with that maddening smell were confusing him so much. Just what the hell was going on? He knew he had some kind of a plan, but at the moment he was having a hard time recalling just what it was…

And those words he was now whispering back at him so gently. It was clear which one of the two was the better actor. Not only that, but for some reason that was beyond his understanding, his entire body felt like it was suddenly covered in goosebumps. It was like he was in some kind of a sensory overload, with Ravi attacking each one of them mercilessly, making it hard for him to think straight.

He thought that turning away from his leech would make things easier, that he would be able to think clearly again. He had no idea how he managed to say everything he did when his head was such a mess, but already began feeling a small sense of victory as he watched the shocked councilman as he watched them. Finally, he was able to regain some kind of control over himself and the situation. Clearly, he was wrong. He would have never thought the parasite would go so far as to kiss him (ok, so it was only a small peck on the forehead. But still). How come this touch was so gentle, just like the previous one? And why, despite the fact he could easily tell how cold the other's lips felt against his forehead, why did he feel like his face was burning at the point of contact?

At that point, Connor was actually holding Ravi's arm for support. He was so shocked that he almost didn’t take notice of the anger he worked so hard to ensue in Manson, as well as the threat that was addressed their way. He watched in shock as the elder vampire poofed away before his eyes and vanished completely. Right now, words were way, way, beyond his ability.

His head was a fucking mess. What the hell just happened? Connor felt like he was under the influence of something. Maybe he was. Was it possible the bloodsuckers sneaked something into his food and he was now hallucinating? But wait, if his mind was playing tricks on him why the hell did it come up with that scenario of all things? He could actually feel himself staring to panic, his heartbeat fasten and his face flush at the thought. No. No, no, no. Please tell him this is not what was going on in his unconsciousness. Please don't let this entire thing be a figment of his imagination.

Fortunately, his lifeline to reality (wait, no. He would not call this's arm a lifeline. He would never trust him with his life) started shaking. Connor watched wide-eyed at the laughing fit his betrothed burst into, too shocked to say anything really. Well, the first thing he felt was relief- the feeling of his arm shaking so violently against him was way too real- there was no way he was imagining this. That thought however, made him realize he was still holding on to said arm.

Quickly loosening his grip, Connor took a hasty step backward, still looking at Ravi's face in shock. Yes, there was no way he was imagining because his mind could never come up with that expression on its own. Up until now he witnessed boredom, scorn, anger, despise, self-riotousness… he saw all of those mold the other's face, but that was the first time he saw something like that. Of course he looked good when he was laughing as well… in fact, even better than before. And his laugh was somehow so musical… he told himself he couldn't stand the sound of his voice, and yet now he listened carefully and in wonder, his ears trying to absorb and decipher that beautiful sound and…

A small, quit laugh finally escaped Connor's lips. As it grew louder, his hands were sent to cover his face. It wasn't a laughter of pure enjoyment and relief like in the other. No, Connor laughed because he didn't know what else could he possibly do. He didn’t want this. He didn't want this marriage and this person to spend the rest of his life with. He already decided he was a terrible person, the worst really. If he decided all of this, then what the hell was his brain doing thinking about him like that? "What the hell is going on?" he finally managed to mumble when his laughter died, more to himself than to anyone else. Never in his life had he been so confused. That was a fucking long day, and no matter how hard he tried to, he just couldn't wrap his head about what was going on. There was this small part of him that took notice of the fact that maybe, if they put enough effort into it, they could actually work together. Although it did take someone physically threatening them to get them to that point. "Are all of your friends this level of crazy?" he finally removed his hands from his face as he looked at the other in exhaustion, asking the only (reasonable) thing he could think of at the moment. If everything wasn't enough, he was about to walk into a fucking hornet's nest. Just what the hell did he get himself into?

It was a foreign feeling, this pure enjoyment that pulsed through him as Ravi laughed. Even without a beating heart, or sense of living, he still felt that flutter of joy deep inside of himself. How long has it been since he last laughed this hard at the expense of councilman Manson? Probably centuries ago. However, him laughing like this in general was longer than that. It felt like a lifetime ago, and in actuality, for Ravi it was. A memory he's long since stopped recalling. Calming down the laughing fit, he felt a bit delirious, smiling widely. And the runt helped him feel this way. He paused; the runt made him laugh like this. Granted, it was more the fact that he helped him reach the point of enjoyment at the discomfort of Manson. And yet the mutt still helped.

Ravi didn't even seem to bat an eye at the touch on his arm, feeling the full warmth of the runt's body against his own. Okay, maybe he's getting a bit too comfortable. This is a mutt that he's going so comfortable with, one that he's stuck in an arrangement with thanks to his mother's political decisions. And yet, he glanced over at the runt who was laughing softly into his own hands, Ravi has some hope that they could at least go past hatred and lead to mutual understanding at most.

He heard the whisper the mutt let out, however he had no need to answer that question. It did not seem like it was for him. Ravi couldn't help but tune into the rhythmic sound of the runt's heart pounding, the sound was musical in it's own way. Mesmerizing to him. He looked away; he shouldn't have such a thought for a mutt like that. It shouldn't be a sound that he knows would lull him into relaxation. One that he's memorizing unconsciously so he could easily find it later just in case Manson has another surprise visit. Ravi should not even want to protect the runt because of his outbursts of uncontrollable emotions. (And since when did he began to refer to the runt as "him?")

Ravi shrugged, feeling the corners of his mouths twitch upwards before forcing it down into a look of indifference. "Councilman Manson is less of a friend and more of a rival whom will go to anything for political power," He glanced over at the runt, a small smirk that he could not stop appearing. "However, yes, my friends have a very low number of sanity." Why was he even confessing such a thing to the runt? Maybe, Manson made them realize that they'll be stuck together with no regard of their consent. And they might as well have some sense of civility between them. Pushing his hair back, Ravi exhaled a silent sigh as he turned and faced the runt.

"Connor," it took a lot not to say "runt". "You and I both understand that we despise one another." An understatement at best. "However, I'm willing to be somewhat civil with you, if you are with me." Then again, his version of civil is all business and passive aggressive underhanded insults said with a tight smile. Which is better than his urge to just bite the runt when he's too annoying. (The thought of biting the other made him wonder if the mutt tasted just as good as he smelled. Would he be sweet like honey or crisp and tangy like apples? Ah, he's thinking about it again.)

He really needs to better realize that this runt isn't another vampire nor a simple human, but a creature that's deadly to his own. Ah, but that more he lets the runt talk the harder it becomes to keep this thought in mind. The wind outside began to pick up, the sound of the air whistling through the leaves and dancing between the strands of his hair as he tries to give the mutt a kind smile. Something he's never had to do before.

Some of the white petals from the tree they stood by floating down and dancing around them. The scene didn't go unnoticed to the vampire, it looked like something from one of the many old romantic literature his mother use to read to him. A scene where the two protagonist reveal or come to terms with a certain feeling. Ravi hates how symbolic it was.

That response was really… casual. Connor wasn't expecting that. Up until that point it was nothing but blatant disdain and snarky comments. It almost made the other look normal. Well, normal for a bloodsucker, that is. Its content didn't seem to go unnoticed either. It seemed there was some tension within the leeches. That was the first time the thought that maybe this whole arranged marriage thing wasn't designed to only protect the clan from external threats crossed his mind. In his defense, political rivalry was a very rare occurrence within a singular pack- there was almost always an unwavering loyalty towards the alpha, and power struggles mainly occurred between different clans, almost never within one. 'Must be tiring trying to protect your back even in your own home' he thought.

No, no he would not feel bad for the bloodsucker. He seemed to be doing just fine, and maybe being taught a small lesson in being humble would benefit him. Besides, he seemed to be more than capable to stand up to Manson.

He was also a little surprised by that friends comment. Not by the other admitting they were insane, that was a given when they were friends with a bloodsucker, but by the fact he actually had friends. Well, he could certainly see how the other could be charming (although he desperately wanted to deny it), but he was having a hard time imagining him dropping this whole diplomatic façade to reveal anything but smugness underneath- the only two modes in which he saw the other. Actually that small part of his brain he really wanted to silence all of a sudden interfered that's not true. Even if everything he saw up to that point was either fake or hostile, that small glimpse he got just a moment ago of the more carefree side of the other made it clear as day how could somebody want to be friends with Ravi.

He really had no energy to think about it, but some part of him registered that maybe, just maybe, the other wasn’t such a monster. Well, at least not in that sense of the word. In a very questionable timing, that thought planted itself into his head just as Ravi continued talking. Connor opened his mouth for a moment only to abruptly snap it shut again. Shit, was he just about to say he didn't despise him? When and who the hell decided that? And also, what was that with that pang he felt when the other said he despised him? Connor just told him practically the same thing earlier that evening, back in the dining room of the leeches. What was he getting so touchy about all of the sudden?

For once in his life, he made a conscious effort to think for a moment before he answered. His initial instinct was to tell Ravi to go back to the coffin he crawled out of. Who would want to be civil with you?! He almost shouted at him. But he knew better than that. He knew that some of it was that stupid part of him that decided to get hurt by the expressed hatred once again, although he had no right to be, he reminded himself. Besides, he was not getting out of this arrangement no matter what. The least he could do for himself was make this a little more bearable, and as much as he wanted to say it didn't bother him- he was sure he wouldn't enjoy experiencing such visible hostility every day for the rest of his life.

He watched silently for a few more moments as the night breeze swayed the branches around them, his eyes following the pale petals that surrounded them almost like snowflakes. It was like even the elements were working in Ravi's favor, providing a picturesque background to his figure, framing his face as he smiled down at him. That expression seemed to cement the resolution he was so avidly trying to avoid coming to. But it looked like the other was making a genuine effort, and the least he could do was reciprocate.

After what was a little too long of a pause, Connor drew in a small breath before letting it out in a small sigh as his shoulders slumped. "Got it. Civil" he breathed out, exhaustion clear in his voice. The smell of the flowers mixed together with Ravis' into a delicious smelling cocktail was making him relaxed somehow- more than he should have been given where he was. "Although we might have to be a little more than that for councilman douchewad" he added with a small smirk. He would make that sacrifice to knock this entitled asshole off his high horse.

Unbelievable as it was, it seemed they were able to reach some kind of a ceasefire. Who would have believed? But now everything seemed to be a little… awkward. Connor's right hand unconsciously reached to rub his left forearm as his eyes dropped to the ground. He had no fucking idea how he was supposed to act, now that the burning urge to bite the others' head off was stashed away. "Should… should we go back? It's been a while, and honestly leaving those two alone seems to be a recipe for disaster" he rolled his eyes. After all, who knew what other devious plans their parents could come up with given the opportunity- even if he was having a hard time imagining something that would surpass this marriage.

It was becoming more problematical, his need to despise the runt like the rest of the mutts was seeming to become a harder task as he got to know his arranged lover. It bothered Ravi, how easily the runt was beginning to worm his way into his favor. And what was annoy-some was that it was working effortlessly. Disregarding the fact that he was willing to be civil for the sake of both of them, he needs to remind himself the glaring differences between himself and his lover. The runt is a mutt, a wolf shifter, the very rival of his species that matched him in both strength and speed. One that could easily turn savage which Ravi should remind himself not to forget just because he comes to a liking to the runt.

Nor the fact that just because he finds his scent intoxicating at best that he should not forget that being on a balance of none murderous intent with one another is the farthest their companionship will go. Even despite this logical reasoning, Ravi finds himself still staring at the runt. The way the white petals flowing around him on their own accord, framing them in a scene seemingly only found in novels, gave Ravi a small flutter of something. However, he refuses to no longer despise the runt. It was only a matter of time before the other will go back to his rude ways and he would once more have the urge to hide the body.

If his friends were here, he wouldn't hear the end of it; they would tease him endlessly on that fact that he was being civil with anyone, let alone a mutt. Even bringing up the fact that he protected said mutt from Manson, which will lead to more teasing and Ravi has never been more grateful that this arrangement was a private one between the two families and not the entire clan. If they were here, they would tease him unto the next century. Scenarios like that makes himself question his choice in companions.

To be honest, it would be easier if the runt had kept up the rude act. That way, Ravi wouldn't have to suffer this new set of feelings. He closed his eyes to the wind, the cool air curling about in a teasing way. Caressing against his cold skin and lifting the petals further. It was actually a beautiful night despite all that has happened today. He's not sure if that was a foreshadowing for something, or if nature was smiling kindly to him and gifting him a calming beauty of a night. Ravi's eyes fluttered opened when the runt gave his answer, glancing over at him with a ghost of a smile on his lips. So the runt can be agreeable. Huh, that's does nothing for his more internal problem.

A huff of a laugh fell past his lips as he glanced away. "Douchewad," he repeated with some amusement. The runt does have a colorful way of insulting the councilman. Though, he nearly forgot that they would have to keep up the act of being completely smitten with one another in front of the councilmen during the ceremony. God, he even forgot about the ceremony they would have to attend soon. Hopefully it's not until a month or so away. And yet, he knows how his mother gambles political wise. That hope in itself is fleeting at best. "Well, yes, we might have to pretend to be absolutely fond of one another." Though, he loves a challenge.

"Right," he sighed, shuddering at the idea that his mother and that elder mutt could be planning something else. "They might even be planning on us bearing children." The idea of having kin made Ravi feel disgusted; he was never fond of children of any age, would rather be surrounded by a clan of mutts than stuck in a room with one child. Shaking out of the distressing thought, he regarded the runt once more; "I took a detour to get out here, however, I don't know if you would be so keen on using them." He doesn't know how Connor- he means the runt, would feel about being so deep under ground. "Though, a walk outside on a night like this would be lovely." As he said this, he look up at the dark sky. Watching as the stars seem to dance their lights across the sky in beautiful pictures and wonder of the unknown.

Yeah, a walk would be nice.

God it was weird talking to a bloodsucker, his bloodsucker (the suggested possessivness was only for his own categorizing of the different bloodsuckers, nothing more) so casually. He almost had to forcefully remind himself that Ravi hated him just as much as he himself hated the other, and his behavior wasn't making it any easier.

The suggestion their parents might be expecting some kind of an offspring in the future threw his mind in a very unwanted direction. They couldn't possibly expect them to actually have a child, could they? I mean, clearly there was this fundamental problem stemming from the fact they were both men. And besides, could bloodsuckers even have kids? And if they did, how the hell did that work? Sure, with shapeshifters it was more or less just like any normal human, or mammal for that matter. Does it work the same with vampires? And if so does that mean that he… and Ravi…

Oh hell no. Connor could feel his face heat at the sudden and unexpected direction his thoughts took. Abso-fucking-lutely not. Not even if you'll stab him with all the silverware in that fucking mansion- which he was sure there was a lot of. Ok fine, so he was good-looking, and his smell alone was probably able to completely cloud his judgement, but there was no chance in hell that he would ever do something like that with a fucking bloodsucker. Why would he even think about this in the first place? And it was exactly because he was so desperately trying to stop thinking about it that his mind wasn't able to let the subject go. 'Come on' he urged himself 'snap out of this'. This person hated him- there was no reason for any one of them to want to get that close and personal with the other.

Thankfully, and for the sake of his mental stability, Ravi began talking again and allowed him to snap out of the dangerous path his mind was leading him down in. As Ravi turned to look at the evening sky, Connor's gaze automatically mirrored him, taking in the individual sparks that decorated the dark canvas above them. It really was a beautiful night, and he felt like he could probably spend more time than he should just looking at this scenery. There was always something relaxing about nights like that one- everything seemed so quit, and he was able to think more clearly, unaffected by the ever present noise that seemed to come from everywhere around him, whether it was his own family or the clan. He had to admit that a walk really did sound nic… safe. His eyes immediately snapped away from the sky and back to the ground between the two of them. Much, much safer than being stuck in some secret shortcut alone with someone who threatened him only an hour or so earlier.

"Yeah, outside is better" he agreed in a tone probably more gloomy than he needed to be as he tried finding his common sense that seemed to be temporarily missing "the last thing I need right now is another one of you poofing in when we're in some underground torture chamber". Okay, so he had no way of knowing if they actually had one in that huge mansion, but somehow he wouldn't put it pass Ravi to have some kind of a dungeon. "Not that I mind having one less person that thinks I'm dinner around. But I honestly don't have the energy to deal with the old man chewing me out for taking out one of you" he said as he faced away from the other in a desperate effort to hide his face (he had no idea what that part of him was doing anymore. He needed a fucking second to get his shit together) and began walking the same way he came from earlier. Maybe he was being a little ruder than what was called for, but he was scared of where his mind would go if he would act otherwise. He would not, under any circumstances, actually grow fond of his fiancé. But then again, although not as bad as he was in the begining, he wasn't exactly being a hundrad percent civil either. Great fucking job he was doing there, he cursed himself as he took the first few steps, wondering if the other would follow after the way he just talked about his clan. Why was he finding it so difficult to handle that person?

Nights likes these were very few for Ravi, being months apart from one another and depriving him of the universal spectacle that was the ever changing night sky. It was a bit of an oddity that during one of the rare nights of beauty, he was spending it with a mutt. One whom which he is arranged with for at most seven decades of his immortal and immoral life. Ravi traced the constellations with his eyes, wondering if this symbol of calming peace would mean something for this future arrangement. Whether this will be one that would barely hinder his way of living, or mark that this will be his last day of known balance and peace before having to live with the runt. Though, he really does not want to dwell too intensely on the upcoming future barreling towards them. They did agree to be practical with one another, even admitting to each other the obvious hate between them.

He heard the mutt's heart seem to pick up in speed for a tick, but not out a panic. Maybe the runt had an irregular heart beat. It's not uncommon and why is he calculating the runt's heart rate? No, there's no deeper meaning to it, it would be easier for Ravi to find the runt again when he runs off. That's all.

Ravi curses the sudden thought that disagreed with him, whispering how he was not exactly remembering the rhythmic sound out of fear of his mother's wrath. For that thought was illogical and just a result of nonsense of a man with very few moments of quiet. The runt is still what he is, and no matter how delectable and sweet he smelled, it wouldn't change the fact even a bit. Closing his eyes, he let out a silent sigh. Turning his gaze away from the sky and towards the outreaching trees. Well, it was a relaxing few minutes. But they must get going before mother sends for them, or worse. Ravi scoffed; of course the runt is assuming he can have such a grand exit like Manson. "That particular dramatic exit is something only Councilman Manson can do." And the councilman uses every opportunity he can to make sure to remind everyone that he has such a special skill set. The dramatic asshole.

"Also," Ravi glanced over at the runt, a playful smirk forming his lips as he raised an eyebrow. "I did not know you knew of its existence." In a way, did they own a dungeon, well, a set of dungeons underneath the mansion. But it was only used for emergency exists. And he's been through them enough times to know that none of them holds any devices for ill usage. (His mother's quarters, on the other hand, holds mysterious he does not wish to bring to light.) The wind began to slow a bit, a lazy breeze moving about as once again, Ravi gets a whiff of the runt's enticing scent. Ah, he really is clouding his judgement. He was just being playful with the mutt. A combination never meant to be, and yet that infuriating scent drove him to such extents. He really needs to calm himself.

Ravi's face fell into surprise before morphing into annoyance. "Tch," he smacked his lips, looking away from the runt. Ah, right, he nearly forgotten just how far that hatred reached for the runt. Granted, he bears no right to be insulted at the reminder, he feels the same way. It's not as if they would be more than two rival species walking with caution around each other. And yet, he still felt irritated with himself for even having a sliver of hope for that notion. "Right, it's wise to be cautious around us monsters." Ravi, without initially intending to, said those words laced with deadpan anger as he walked in the direction of the house, his steps fast. Well, it seems a nice walk through the woods is out of the question.

Just when he thought the runt would be civil or something decent, he's proven wrong to even think that way and forgetting the glaring fact that his arranged lover is a mutt. Mutt's are quick to kill each other, to kill others. With no respect or sense of feelings. No different from how humans view us, he thought. Ravi quickened the pace to a brisk walk in a futile attempt to run away from the similarities.

Well, now he went and did it. They were doing fine, maybe even taking the first few steps of making the rest of his forever a little more bearable, and he had to go and blow things up. I mean, for fucks sake the other was actually cracking jokes. Well, at least what he guessed was the sarcastic vampires' definition of a joke (and did he had to look good with that face as well? Was there a way to make his face not so gorgeous? He kinda wanted to reach out and try to smoosh and stretch it to see if.. wait, no. He did not want to touch him. Absolutely no.)

Yes, it was clear he was the one to blame this time. Connor didn't need to look at his face (although he was just a little curious as to how it looked right now and what the hell was it with this unhealthy obsession with the parasite's face) to know Ravi was angry (and rightfully so that annoying little voice that seemed to refuse to shut up tonight reminded him). Soon enough he was catching up to him, although Connor refused to look at him. He was furious that he actually dared blaming him for stating the obvious. And for hinting he was the real monster. There was also this small part that felt a surprise pang of guilt. It almost sounded like he hurt the leech's feelings, Connor realized, flinching a little at the thought. That's not what he meant, he thought as he gritted his teeth. Why did he have to be the responsible adult in this situation? He was clearly getting the short end of the stick with that deal, so couldn't he be a little more understanding? I mean, it was a fucking hard situation to deal with. But Maybe, ugh that voice again. Connor could visualize that idiot pushing up the glasses that were sliding down its nose maybe it's hard for him as well? Clearly, he was making an effort. More so than you did.

If there was ever a moment Connor seriously considered punching himself, it was exactly then. He was still furious, mostly at Ravi, but also at himself for feeling guilty. And for making a mess out of everything. "Well, I don't recall myself or anybody from my clan threatening you" the venomous comment left his lips without too much thought behind it, the frustration he was feeling clearly audible in it. How dare he act innocent when both he and Manson made clear threats at him in such a short time span. And he was the bad guy? The fact he felt like he was chasing Ravi wasn't helping any. Even walking as fast as he could without running (he would not humiliate himself to the point of running after the bloodsucker like some kind of a dog), Ravi was far ahead of him. Him and his stupid long legs.

"Ugh!" a groan of frustration left Connor's lips as he suddenly stopped. He had enough of all of it. Maybe he should just stay there. Or go back home. Anyway there was no way he could go back inside like that- not when it was so visible that he was upset. He really hated the fact he was so easy to read. And if they'll somehow notice that Ravi was just as upset… a shudder ran through him. It's not like he would be punished, nor would It persuade his father to give up on that stupid plan, but he would get a good earful from him for his behavior. And then not only would he be the one to marry a bloodsucker, but he would do it with his family disappointed in him. It would be further proof he wasn't qualified to do even the lowest of tasks. It was one thing to get this feeling from the pack, but if his family would look at him with the same eyes… "wait!" the single word escaped his mouth on an instinct as his eyes snapped up to look for Ravi. "Just… give me a second" he was fully aware of the fact he was in no position to make requests, but he didn't know what else to say. Well, actually, he knew exactly what he had to say but he was very reluctant to say it. "I just…" he rubbed his face in his palms, as if the gesture would erase the annoyance so clearly written on it, along with the actual feeling "things just… I don't…" he inhaled deeply, his eyes looking around everywhere except at the person he was talking to "I… I'm…" god, he was just blubbering on and on. It was just one fucking word, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Apologizing would be equal to admitting he was wrong and Ravi was right, and he just wasn't ready to take such a blow.

Ravi could not believe he was so foolish to slip up like this, and towards a mutt. No wonder his mother viewed this decision as proper, he was too trusting at the slightest hint of humanity even an animal could mimic. Granted, he thought he grew out of this way of thinking. Of childlike thought that good is all around. However, here he was, hoping the runt was at least a bit kind only for that way of thinking to be shoved right back into his face. It's humiliating at best. Ravi noticed that the wind around them was still, even the trees barley moving. The forest around them still and silent. It only fuels his self-loathing even more, that a mutt could cause such uncontrollable impulses within him.

But I have no right, that small voice whispered. You think the same of his kind, a tit or tat so to speak. Ravi stubbornly ignored the logic the thought provides, not wanting to admit defeat to the likes of the runt. But, he does feel the same way towards the mutts. Disgust and anger being the only thing he feels when those things are even mentioned in his presence. And for him to think the runt was any different, despite what kind of blood is flowing through his veins, just gives more evidence that Ravi is still no ready to take over the clan. The conversation came up a few times a few years back with Samuel, his mother and himself. He did not understand why his mother thought he would be the perfect candidate for taking control of this large clan. Hell, his brother agreed with their mother which says a lot about the older vampire's intelligence. And, his mother only smiled at his refusal, saying; "It's in due time, Ravi."

It was a sick satisfaction to prove her wrong. Ravi's fangs itched at the next under handed insult the Runt said to him, wanting to feel nothing but the anger as he ignored the sharp pain in his chest. Of course the mutt would think this, all mutt's held their head up high and believe that they are far from the animalisitc prey driven monsters lore has painted them to be. Of course they would be so easily be a buried secrets. Of course she would be lost to be nothing more than a mere myth because the mutt's want to keep their record clean. Ravi felt his senses blur with his anger, his eyes burning a deep sated red. His face fighting back the morph that truly made them seem like monsters. No, he will not let a mutt like that see him lose his composure. Does it even matter, that voice returned, making Ravi grind his fangs together. Connor has every right to feel this way. You are just being a typical brat.

Before he knew it, Ravi halted at the desperate command of the runt. Shoulders hunched up with stiff rage pounding through his form. What was the runt going to say now? The blubbering was infuriating (and the tiniest endearing which enrages him even more). Ah, or was he going to continue his verbal battering? "Let me guess," Ravi snarled, turning on his heels to face the runt. His features were stuck between human and an entity that could only be described as demonic. Eyes burning into the other's as he slowly stalked towards his "lover". "I have no right to feel anger because of what I am. Things like me are what mother's warn their children about, what religious followers believe to be the knights of Lucifer."

Grabbing the runt by the front of his shirt, Ravi lifted the mutt so they were on an even eye level. Growling between his clenched fangs; "A monster." He wants to kill the mutt, to simply snap its neck and go about the rest of his life without its presences. (No, you do not.) With another growl that vibrated through his chest, he let go of the runt. Turning around and refusing to look at the mutt any further. It does not matter if his mother would scold him, he wants to be alone. "You know where the manor is, correct? You can go back by yourself." Ravi started to walk in the opposite direction, towards the more denser part of the woods. He needs to leave, he feels like he's chocking on falling ashes.

The moment he was talked to, Connor's eyes flashed up to look at Ravi. As he inched closer to him, he felt like someone cast cement over his feet- he was completely paralyzed, his gaze held captive by those crimson orbs that seemed to scream murder at him. He knew he should run, or at least try to fight him, but his words threw him completely off. That wasn't what he wanted to say at all, so why was he going around and assuming such things about him? He wanted to protest, to snap that arrogant asshole out of this 'I think I know everything' mindset, but before he had the chance to do so, he was violently lifted off the ground. His hands automatically reached to grab Ravi's in a futile attempt to loosen his grip on him. He bared his teeth, an instinctual growl building in his chest, when the other added his final words. 'No!' his brain protested at the statement.

Well, that was unexpected. Connor's eyes widened at that first thought that went through his mind. What do you mean 'no?!' he mentally yelled at himself Of course he is a monster! Just look at this face! Connor's rational side tried bringing that disobedient part of him back to the land of sanity. I mean, every normal person would look at that face and get scared. A normal person would call this a monster. No normal person would have the strange urge to reach out and touch that face, to wipe away the hurt he saw in it…

Connor blinked in surprise as he was unceremoniously dropped to the ground, losing his balance and falling back in the process. He blankly stared at the other's back when he talked to him again. He wanted him to go back alone? Where the hell was he going? And why the fuck did he even care where he was going? He could go away and disappear in those damn woods for all he cared. But, well, he did care. Actually, he was really pissed off that the bloodsucker just decided to go ahead and get offended when he was trying to make things right (you weren't doing a very good job though that pretentious asshole in his head reminded him). And now he just wanted him to go back alone and deal with all that shit when he was sulking somewhere outside?

'Oh, hell no' he thought as he got back to his feet. He would get that asshole to understand and come back with him whether he liked it or not. He quickly followed the other's footsteps, watching his back in the distance, seeing that he was able to get a head start on him. As he quickened his pace (he wasn't running he was just going really really fast so it seemed like he was. He was absolutely not chasing after the bloodsucker), it seemed the raising tempo only fed his anger further. 'He just had to go ahead and get the wrong idea,' his feet were tapping against the soft ground 'and then he had the audacity to attack him (without actually attacking him) and just go away without giving him an opportunity to explain the things he chose to misunderstand'. Well, maybe if you actually explained instead of mumbling some unintelligible bullshit… 'Fine!' Connor yelled at this annoying inner voice (had he been a little less aggravated he might have stopped for a second to question his own mental stability) 'Then I'll just make him fucking understand!' he closed the last of the distance between them, lunging himself at the other and tackling him to the ground.

"Don't just say and do whatever you want and fucking walk away!" he planted his knees on both sides of the bloodsucker's body, grabbing the lapels of his jackets so he could force him to look at him "what the hell is wrong with you? You just go ahead and hear what you want to hear!" he was getting on his nerves and he wouldn’t take it any longer. "And don't you just go ahead and put words in other people's mouths. I was saying I'm fucking sorry okay?" maybe yelling ones apology wasn't exactly the best way to apologize, but at least now the words were leaving his mouth. "You're a pretentious asshole who thinks he's fucking better than everyone and you have some really shitty people in your clan, but I never called you a monster, so don't just decide to go and lose your fucking temper on something you made up on your own!" His eyes were blazing at the other, fists still tightly clenched around his jacket, shaking with anger, and his chest was quickly raising and falling from all the shouting. He still wasn't completely back to his senses, and at the moment he mostly felt the first signs of relief after finally giving the other a piece of his mind. Besides, if he couldn't actually attack him, at least shouting a little seemed to have some therapeutic qualities to it.

The stillness of the night only furthered Ravi's anger, with the mutt and himself. How could he have let himself get so out of control because of a few choice words from the runt? How the stray regarded him should not be something of a shock, considering it was no different from how every one else considered them that was not of vampiric blood. And yet, Ravi let such a childish insult effect him to extreme extents. It was pathetic. He rubbed at his face, willing the distorted features to fade away. This was pathetic and idiotic, the best words to describe this situation. Why is he letting a mere mutt hurt his feelings? They don't care for one another and never will, he despises the runt with everything inside of himself so why is he feeling this way? Why did he in a way, feel betrayed?

Maybe, because he promised to be civil and you hoped that it meant he didn't entirely hate you. And then there's that small voice in the back of his consciousness that Ravi knows is wrong no matter what it spat out. He did not hope that the mutt only hated what he was and not just him! The runt can hold a grudge towards him for the rest of his life and Ravi would still not care in the slightest! Hearing footsteps behind him, he sighed, his face morphing back to their less horrific features. Does this runt have nothing better to do? He's giving him an exit, or well, himself an excuse to be alone. The question here is why was the runt so keen on following him at the moment? Probably wanting to have the last word. However, Ravi was not in the mood anymore. His rage giving way to exhaustion, annoyance, and past emotional pain that he despises the runt even more for bringing to light.

Ravi just wants to be alone, wants to remember without an audience there to further judge him. He just wanted to see her. When the footsteps behind him picked up in pace, he turned around to warn the runt off. Maybe threaten the mutt so it would leave him alone, only to be hit with the force of another body. The action taking them both down to the ground with a resounding thud louder than the quiet forest. He lost all air from his lungs, blinking up as he tried to fathom what took him down to the ground with that much force. As his eyes focused on the figure on top of him, Ravi knew once and for all how much he loathes this mutt.

He glared up at the runt when it grabbed at his jacket, which cost more than a pretty penny. Granted, he never wanted to wear this particular outfit for this occasion yet his mother relented. Now look at it, wrinkled in the paws of a stubbornly irritating stray. Ravi narrowed his eyes; this runt honestly thinks he wanted to admit such an obvious thing between them? And it was the adult way of handling a heated disagreement, to simply walk away from the situation. "You honestly believe I want to hear someone call me a monster," Ravi sneered, grabbing the runt by the front of his own shirt. Well, so much for being alone and wallowing in his own mind. (He would not admit that he was secretly the tiniest bit happy that the runt followed him.)

The runt wanted to apologize? Who apologizes like this? By tackling someone to the ground, insulting them and then practically screaming that they were sorry in some attempt to cancel out the previous statements? "And tackling me down was your way of doing so?" Honestly, Ravi's surprised he hasn't tried to kill the mutt just yet. Or, well attempted to. Though he was very much tempted to, so very tempted to. At the mutt's next words, Ravi sat up into a sitting position with a snarl, dragging the mutt closer as he matched the other's volume; ""Bloodsucker" and "monster" are interchangeable for my kind, you stubborn idiot. I was just saying exactly what you thought every time you even sneered with your nose in the air in my direction!" He was getting more and more heated, wanting to just simply snap the other's neck and leave the body to rot in the forest. (Ravi was actually the smallest bit still hurt at what runt said about him, even adding to the fact that he thinks of him as someone pretentious and narcissistic. However, the world would have to be coming to an end before he even entertains those thoughts.)
