one time I read yaoi manga in my phone, and my niece ask me. "why those two boys kissing?" and I'm just smile, locked my phone, and hide it in my pocketyoyo

thanks God she only 4 years old

I don't hide it per say, in fact I would really like to have an opportunity to discuss my yaoi love with more people in real life, but I must be careful how I share this fact with:D Quite a few people I told were pretty supportive & interested, but I think most would have a "WTF"reaction:D better safe than sorry, no?

I hide it. In fact I think even if someone told me first that they liked yaoi I wouldn't admit I liked it. It's not like I have any reservations or I'm particularly ashamed I just don't enjoy talking about it in person lol. It's a bit awkward regardless of who I'm conversing with about it.

Oh god, where do I even begin..

So, I got my younger sister hooked on Yaoi (She's hardcore, like me heehee) and just recently, my brother saw me reading one so I guess he kinda knows my ultimate hobby~~ Also, I carelessly left my laptop open one day and I think my mom saw it too ヽ( ̄д ̄; )ノ

So, in the end, I think (?) my whole family knows...

My parents is absolutely no go, even though I'm sure my mom already sensed something but she decided to turn a blind or maybe just in state of denial that her daughter likes to watch/read two men having sex with each other LOL my sisters know about my hobbies though, also some of my RL friends.

I hide it, I guess my parents may suspect something (my mum told something about it in a very indirect way once), but in general I just avoid the topic. I've got a friend that's into yaoi and she's open about it, so we happen to chat about it and she came up with it while chatting with our group of friends; they're open minded so it was not a problem. She's the only one that brings up that subject though lol

My parents do know and they obv disapprove, but my friends are super okay with that.

My parents actually figured it out when I slept to my phone with a hardcore fanfic open, the next day was a disaster bc mom saw it haha

my dad probably knows i'm still involved with yaoi. when i was younger i asked him, after all, to download episodes of loveless for me. and he paid for my gravitation dvds. these days i mostly read novels, and he doesn't really pry and ask what i'm reading. but i still deep down inside he knows i'm still pretty much addicted to reading all about gay romance.

my friends don't mind at all. luckily all of them are open-minded, even the guys! a male friend and i often commiserate over the yaoi manga we've read. and my other male friend who's straight doesn't even judge me when i start talking about yaoi. i count myself to be very lucky in this regard.

Unfortunately, yes I do hide my yaoi from my family because I know they wouldn't understand. My family has always been very religious so to them yaoi is sinful. My extended family on my dad's side has already disowned me for reading Black Butler for crying out loud and that's not even yaoi! I used to be really shy about yaoi, and in the past because of this, I used to hate myself for enjoying the stories even if I wasn't religious like my parents. I thought there was something wrong with me. in my early 20s I moved in with one childhood friend and a handful of strangers, they helped me open up in many ways, introduced me to all sorts of fandoms, and are now the best friends I could ever have. They helped me feel better about my interests and showed me that it's ok to love yaoi and not feel bad about it.

sorry to hear about your extended family disowning you... but seriously, in my opinion, any family member that disowns someone for their innocent (or less-than-innocent, even, as long as it's not illegal) interests isn't worth your while anyway. much better to concern yourself with people who do accept you and the things you like. i'm glad that you've found friends who make you feel better! no one deserves to feel bad over liking something such as yaoi.

My question might look weird but, why would you want your family to know about it? :No-Way:

For me it'd be like saying I like watching porn or erotic movies, it's private stuff, people don't need to know what I fantasize about. They wouldn't understand what yaoi truly is anyway.

Same with friends, though it's a different story with otaku friends right :leaf4:

Also I think it's way better to be able to fantasize with a friend outside about how everybody looks so gay with fujoshi glasses in secret (*`▽´*) ウケケケッ

For me hiding my perverted self is part of being a fujoshi and I like it, then when you see another fujo you're like cheetah14

( I must say I don't really like how nowadays it's a mode to show to everybody your sexuality, but that's another story )

Nope, there is nothing wrong about loving/enjoying something so why hide it?

My mom knows although she is very religious I really don't care about her opinion, I do what I love.

As for my friends, all of them knows this fact about me because I always share stuff with them lol.

Other in my family like my dad, he is clueless, I wouldn't hide from him but it's just, he really don't need to know this.

That's all I guess.

I don't advertise it but I wouldn't hide it. I have about 800 doujinshi just sitting on a shelf with some yaoi manga and CDs next to it. I do remember one time a friend say a larger anthology and recognized the fandom, taking it out to look at it. He then realized it was porn. Good job he was bisexual i guess. Haha. I was like "dammmmmnnnn anyone could just do what he did I gotta be careful!" so I guess I'm just cautious.
